I recently made my first home purchase with Mike Iufer, and when I started the process I didnt know much about buying property. Having grown up locally, and having bought and sold property here for himself, Mike is definitely an expert in San Diego real estate. He is well researched and able to get offers accepted by sellers even when inventory is scarce (my first offer was accepted!). He is available pretty much any time to answer questions and represent his clients. He is willing (and able) to field any and all questions, is knowledgeable, not pushy at all, and its obvious his only goal is to make is client happy- even if that means they decide not to sell/make a purchase. Wow! Where can I start?To be honest, I asked Mike to help me to represent me in buying a house based on our connection through a mutual friend rather than any specific knowledge of his experience or skills as a real estate agent -- but now that ive (successfully!) gone through the buying process, I cant imagine having done this without Mike as an agent by my side through every step of the way.And even though Mike typically works as a listing agent, he was truly fantastic representing me on the buying side (perhaps by understanding how we could best work with the listing agent.)I entered the market with lots of ideas of what i wanted, and Mike helped me hone in on what really work work for me. He walked through the steps in homebuying early on and with an incredible level of detail and inquiry about what i was looking for as well as specifics of my financing -- which i think in the end helped me be more prepared for the process (especially anticipating and planning for any issues on the financing side). Once I had made an offer, he was crucial in helping me navigate the inspection and negotiation steps to get a really good price for a great house. (Though he was always incredibly calm and personable with me, my lender called him a bull dog after seeing how he worked to negotiate with the listing agent!)He was also incredibly responsive, even when i had questions after hours. Okay... let me lay down a little background. My wife and I were never in the market for a home. We honestly thought we just couldnt ever afford buying a home in San Diego. One night we got the midnight phone call that changed our lives forever. My wifes father was struck by a car while riding his bike and paralyzed on the spot. After a few weeks he became stable and we began to come to terms with the situation. We also realized we were going to need to find a place to live where my father-in-law could live the best life possible with us in San Diego, and where he could have access to the medical care he needs. After looking at renting options we were left completely defeated... the home modifications required were enormous and no landlord would let us do them.I thought it was a shot in the dark but I called Mike to get his opinion on our situation. After running some numbers and having us talk to a lender he called me and said, Robin, Im going to find you and your family the perfect home.Our budget was tight and our requirement list was long. We needed a flat driveway, minimal steps into house, one story, room to wheel around, and on, on and on... Oh and it needs to be in central San Diego! I honestly thought it was impossible. But Mike was confident, and reassured us every step of the way. I forgot to mention, almost the entire time of the buying process I was travelling for work and my wife was with her Dad at a Spine rehab center in Atlanta. Mike supported us every step of the way and found us the perfect home - within budget, in a neighborhood we like, that meets all our needs.If you are thinking about going with another agent I recommend you stop looking now. If youre serious about buying a home, and willing to walk the walk along side Mike, then theres no one better IMO to get you to the finish line.
