I keep getting phone calls about verifying my subscription. I never subscribed to this publication, and I dont see them anywhere on my credit statements. To me, that screams SCAM.*Update* turns out they got my info from a fundraiser I bought something from. I dont remember being told I would be subscribed to this publication... But apparently I was. Unsubscribing was not easy. Had to call multiple times. Was on hold forever after selecting menu options, just to be hung up on twice before even getting to speak to an actual person. Finally got through on the 3rd try and unsubscribed.

I bought the Sunday paper from a nice young man named Jermain. Even though HE did his job the ball was dropped in distribution apparently. It’s been 2 weeks & though I was told I would get the paper, I have not. I shouldn’t say I, but I ordered it for my 81 yr old mother, who is upset that her paper hasn’t come. How does a business stay open with this behavior? I will update this posting if we ever get it delivered regularly. Be cautious.

The San Diego Union Tribune started to appear on my drive way. I tried to call and cancel this unrequested delivery to find I couldnt get customer service on the phone to stop it. Why would I want to order a paper in the future when I already know customer service is non existent? This company needs to get its act together.

For some reason this business thinks it is ok to take money from people and not give them what they pay for, No paper for three days in a row No response from customer service except to say so sorry. Nothing we can do.

The Union Tribune newspaper is a thief. I had a subscription that was on an automatic renewal with my credit card. I discovered that my card was being charged every 5 months instead of 6 months. When I called to question the billing department, I was told that there could be up to 10 special editions of the newspaper each year. There was an extra charge for these special editions. The paper would bill a month early rather than at 6 months to cover the cost of these special editions. I was never informed of this. So I cancelled my subscription which had already been billed to my credit card. The UT refused to credit my card for the balance of over $142. Instead they claimed they would send a check to me for the refund. That was more than 2 months ago and 4 phone calls. The UT is lying about issuing my refund. Do not ever use the autopay feature with this newspaper! The UT will keep your money as a good thief always does!

Total scam, kept charging my credit card even after I asked them to stop my services. I had to block them off my credit card so they would stop charging me without any authorization. Total rip off. The UT has become obsolete and irrelevant. It was really hard to give a one star. There needs to be a no star option just for the Union Tribune.

Subscriber Services, billing - - absolutely HORRIBLE customer service. The billing process is HORRENDOUS (they just constantly try to force you sign up for automatic deductions)

A newspaper shouldnt endorse candidates (like this does.) Think about it, they will report good things about their candidate of choice and bad things about the opponents then omit bad things about their candidate of choice and omit good things about the opponents effectively campaigning. Could be all true, but SELECTIVE OMISSIONS can be just as bad as fake. Dont trust any newspaper that endorses candidates.

It is amazing the disdain the U-T San Diego has for its customers. I have subscribed to this paper for over 30 years, and 20 or so years ago if there was a problem and I called, there were competent, literate people on the other end of the line to help me. Today I just called about a problem with their non-responsive website and the customer service agent was barely literate and very unhelpful, stating they they are having ongoing problems with the customer account portion of the website and there was no resolution in sight, and he refused to connect me with a supervisor. All I wanted to do was update my payment method, but if they do not want my business, maybe I should switch to the Los Angeles Times! Sad to see a decent paper slide into customer service hell. They deserve to lose market share big time!

Get your local news somewhere else. SDUT is owned by the LA Times, they print and employ people outside our great city, customer service is outsourced to Southeast Asia. They used to be great, but now are just deplorable. I would recommend deleting this subscription.

This company has people selling their subscriptions under false pretenses of getting coupons as the main selling point. As a customer when you call to report a newspaper issue they say they will resend and then never do. When you call in for a 2nd time because they havent sent it they say they will forward the message to their contractor. When I finally cancelled (after being refused to be allowed by irvine) they said they would refun my money and now they are claiming it is in the mail. I have never had this much issue with ANY newspaper service in the states I have lived in.

This paper turned onto a liberal mouthpiece with no regard to truth and fairness. You should be a BALANCED news outfit, yet you smear anything remotely connected to the Trump administration each and every day, while totally ignoring the the stunts pulled by the Liberals. Yes, I happen to be a Conservative reader and you keep forgetting that we were once the base of your subscribers.I, for one, am DONE.

I live in San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico. HSBC holds trust deeds to many properties throughout Mexico. In San Felipe, they are refusing to release the trust deeds and attorneys are now saying, owners who have been paying this bank for 20 years or longer, must start over with a new trust deed. This is corruption which no one seems to want to do anything about. It’s almost as though they are waiting for the old timers to die off and rob their property. Please help us. Mexicali, Baja California is our Municipality and we are under their thumb. They aren’t doing anything about it either. I would greatly appreciate if someone would investigate this horrible situation, as these are trust deeds, held by the bank (in this case, HSBC) in which residents have paid every year for them to hold them. They do absolutely nothing for us, although they take the money yearly. And, now, they are refusing to release them. The cost of a new trust deed is over $10,000 USD plus attorney fees. Many of the owners of these properties are elderly and need to sell their homes to move to the United States for health reasons. They can’t sell their homes if HSBC does not release them. If the US received $1.9 billion for money laundering, I would think they would try and help US citizens get justice. I’m going to try and make an appointment with the Attorney General’s office in Mexicali, but there is so much red tape to go through, it may take months or years. If you would like, I can give you a list of the people I know who are going through this, but believe me. There are many. On the mainland of Mexico, you can buy property without the trust deeds, but in the federal zone (near the border or any water) you must have a trust deed. Thank you in advance for any help you can give us. Katherine “Kat” Hammontre.

The SDU-T seems to think they are the quasi Supreme Court of San Diego County. Very anti minority and anti organized labor. They are owned by a hotel magnate, among other things, so whats good for the tourist industry is good for everyone in sd. They forget there is more to sd than west of I-5/ and north of I-8 except for reporting crime or perceived city/county employee misconduct.
