She explained and helped with the process so well that it took most of the stress out of it. I found my college and am so exited to spend the next 4 years of my life there! It is hard to put in words what Gina did for my son. My son has ADD and naturally organization, time management, and procrastination is part of his disorder. I have worked with many individuals in this field from therapists, coaches, counselors, etc for many years. I have never met someone who cared about my son as much as Gina did. We are so very thankful for Gina! Our son excels in the STEM subjects in high school however had absolutely no idea what he wanted to study and no idea of what colleges he should apply to. Gina was a great college counsellor for my son. She started out by getting to know him, his personality and his potential career choices. She is always kind and takes time to listen and understand what the student wants. She has extensive knowledge of colleges nationwide and good relationships with admission reps. She kept my son organized by using Google docs for the college search process and essay writing and she had good recommendations for tutors, test prep and essay writing. Gina was a really great match for my son as he began and journeyed through the college application process. My daughter struggles academically due to executive functioning issues (keeping organized, planning, holding to a schedule, etc). Her Freshman year of college, she had a 1.79 GPA after 2 Quarters, and was placed on academic probation. She had 1 Quarter to bring her GPA up to a 2.0 or risked academic suspension. We hired Gina Gerrato to assist our daughter once per week in developing a daily plan for success. Gina would face time our daughter every week, guide her through a plan, and then provide a detailed report of that plan to us (the parents). The first quarter that Gina worked with our daughter, which was Quarter #3 of the school year, our daughter earned a 2.98 term GPA, bringing her overall GPA up to 2.15, which resulted in our daughter coming off academic probation and into good standing!!! The next quarter (Q4), again with Ginas assistance, our daughter earned a 3.47 term GPA, bringing her overall GPA up to a 2.33!!! Our daughters success can be directly attributed to Ginas counseling. I would HIGHLY recommend Gina for families in similar situations!!!

Gina was really supportive and made the whole process seem much less stressful! And she was really great at picking out a good variety of colleges that fit well with me. I would definitely recommend her as a college counselor! When I talked to my parents about colleges, it was stressful and I would end up arguing with them, but Gina was very knowledgable and it was much easier to relax about the whole process around her. Im really grateful that I had her guidance. I would have probably just applied to UCs and maybe would have had only 1 or 2 options, but because of her advice I widened the variety of colleges I applied to and now have a lot more choices. She was also really great at blocking my time out for me and helped me achieve all of my college application goals in a timely manner. Because of this, I was much more relaxed than many of my friends who waited until the deadlines for the colleges they wanted to apply for. I finished earlier and was more able to focus on school leading up to and during midterms without the added stress of college applications. Gina was absolutely amazing during the entire process and was always available to talk and give advice. With her help, I finished all my applications very early on and setting up my essays and applying seemed like a breeze! My advice for upcoming juniors would be to start early so you arent turning in your applications the day of the deadline and stressing yourself out. If theyre anything like me, theyre probably already silently stressing out about college applications up in their head, even if theyre not expressing outwardly. Its a stressful time of year during the fall with the added pressure of classes and midterms, and its easy to end up arguing about college applications. I think its important to be able to find that balance of not fighting about applications but also not letting the deadlines slide by and turning in subpar work. Plus, if you turn in your applications earlier, you also get your answers back earlier and its nice to know what your options are earlier on.
