I have taken my old 2013 iMac to his shop twice, both for having difficulty turning on or randomly turning off. The first time, he fixed it saying it was an easy fix, and offered a very cheap price for a RAM upgrade, which I took. The second time, he fixed it and also replaced my dying hard drive with a faster and reliable SSD. Both times, repairs were timely and he honored his over-the-phone quotes. Very friendly, timely, and professional. My computer works better than ever. Will use again for all my computer needs.

These folks have helped me in the past with some computer problems and done a great job at a reasonable price quickly. Recently I had a portable back-up hard drive that failed with about 1 TB of data and photos and Peter was able to recover everything on the drive. I then took in my new iMac desktop and had him set up the new computer and transfer all my data and photos. He then gave me a nice tutorial on the new machine and software and answered all my questions. Was shopping online for a new computer and saw an ad for this business. They had great refurbished computers for sale at great prices so I drove down from Escondido to their shop in San Diego to check it out. I got a diagnosis on my computer quickly and a very reasonable price on the repair. I got a tour of the other computers for sale and it didn’t feel like I was being pushed into buying anything. I could tell they enjoy what they do and want the customers to get what they need and want! I will always come to them for my computer problems and if I am shopping for a refurbished computer at a great price!

I had a WONDERFUL experience with the guys at Dr. Chip. After spilling water on my Macbook, I scheduled an appointment with the Geek Squad at Best Buy. I had to wait 3 days to take it in, and when I got there they told me they were contractually not allowed to look at any Macs and I would need to pay $80 for them to ship it to Apple, just so they could see IF they could fix it (then pay for repair on top of that). I decided to look locally and am so glad I did. They offered two very reasonable prices for diagnosing - a lesser price if they were not able to fix it. They WERE able to fix it, and seemingly easily. :) I will definitely be back for future computer needs.

Peter made a house call the same day as my call for help. He collected the failed desktop, diagnosed its problem and called me within three hours with the good news. Over the weekend the repairs were completed and he delivered my computer and set it back up. The cost of repair was very reasonable. I would recommend Dr. Chip to any and all.

I went into Dr. Chip after having significant liquid damage to my computer. I had taken the computer first to Apple and they said it would cost $999 flat fee for liquid damage which essentially is the price of a new computer. I thought I was out of luck but looked at the reviews of Dr.Chip and thought Id give computer repair a shot, given my computer was still in good condition minus the liquid damage. Mohamad and crew were very knowledgable and friendly helping answer all of my questions and understanding that I did not want to pay more that what the computer was worth for fixing. Four days later I picked up my fixed computer at a reasonable price. I am very happy to have a fixed computer and for the stress-free experience I had at Dr. Chip. Dr Chip repaired water damage to my 2011 MacBook Pro and a registry and memory allocation error on a 2008 IMac. Both times the price was relatively cheap and stated up front. The repairs were done quickly and professionally. And the staff actually explained how to do several things myself and save money rather than charging me extra. I also tried to pay them a second time in cash because I forgot and Mohamed gave the money back. So highly reputable and ethical. Dr Chip also sells used Macs at very reasonable prices with some very nice extras. If you dont need the newest Mac and are looking to save money than Dr Chip is the place. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

I brought my 2011 MacBook Pro for a new keyboard and the service was exceptional. They called me later that day to report on the battery which I asked them to look at as well. All the repairs were done in one day (where other stores were quoting 1 week wait times) and they cost exactly what I was quoted. Everything works amazing...like new!! Top notch experience as always. I had the dreaded imac freeze with error message after OS update. They took care of it straight away and very cheaply. They give great advise and actually care about your problem. I picked up a cheap ipad whilst I was there too.

I came in with my dead macbook. When I couldnt afford the repair, these guys helped me grab my data off my dead macbook. When that failed, they helped me grab my files off the mac. Something happened on my side and either iCloud or my drive had an issue so they gave me a discount on the second attempt!These guys are helpful and know what theyre doing.

I was referred to Dr. Chip in about 2012 and have been a loyal customer since. The first revelation was the problematic motherboard in my Dell that had been missed for 9 months by my PC techs. Dr. Chip brought me from the M$ world to the Apple world not that Apple is perfect or a saint but the hardware of the Dell was horrible and then the malware situation was desperate. I was there today.

Provided a prompt and effective logic board repair for my 2012 MacBook Pro. I couldnt find any other shop in San Diego that even OFFERED logic board repairs, so this store saved my Mac.

They were able to fix my computer within 24 hours and offered great/competitive pricing. My 2012 MacBook, which I thought had reached the end of its lifespan, is now working better than before and will hopefully last a few more years. Macbook battery replacement - great value great service. This one was a pain and I couldnt do myself because it was glued to the laptop. They did it in a day for a fair price. Highly Recommend.

I brought my macbook pro in to Dr. Chip and Peter was the one that helped me. Unfortunately, they were not able to repair the issue, but Peter was communicative and honest with me the entire time! Originally we had thought it was a hardware issue and when discovered that it was more internal than that, he suggested going through the technician they had that would be able to look at the computer more internally. There is an initial fee just for the technician to look into the computer and then if they are able to repair it they charge the rest. Peter called me and was honest that he didnt think the technician would be able to repair it and I appreciated the truth instead of them just taking the money! He suggested I go through apple once everything is opened back up and offered other solutions they could provide in the case that the computer cant be fixed. If I ever have any other problems with a computer Ill definitely be returning! Great customer service, communication, and honesty! Glad to know that there are reliable companies that dont try to scam you just because you dont know the technical terms! Thank you dr chip!

I went to these guys to get a SSD drive and found these two (two guys were in the office). Let me tell you, I have been doing IT as a consultant and now as a IT Director for going on 20 years and these guys taught me some things. I needed a laptop for my job. They had many to choose from. Peter was very helpful in my decision to buy just the right one that would suit my needs. He didnt try to up sell me. I had to ship out a motherboard at the last minute and couldnt find any shops with anti-static bags to ship this one (called at least 4 with no luck). These guys are great. Might be one of the last places to actually diagnose and try to fix computers. My MacBook Air just went blank one day so I took it to the Apple Store and they plugged it in, said it was fried, and offered to sell me a new one. Dr Chip took it, kept it over night, and diagnosed it the next morning. Fixed logic board, replaced SSD and installed new OS for $325. My computer works better now then when I got it. Thanks, boys.

My Mac would start and then freeze.. They diagnosed my computer in front of me for free. Then they gave me advice and alternative choices to fix it with inexpensive options as well. I ended up getting a solid state hard drive replacement for my old malfunctioning hard drive and now my laptop starts and runs faster then before. New hardware is priced from $50-150 and repairs can be about $100.

He helped me on his DAY OFF to replace my macbook charger and ran a free consultation on it. He is friendly, patient, knowledgable, helpful and way more affordable than Apple. Id recommend him to anyone with computer issues, PC or mac!

The guys at Dr. Chip were fast to diagnose the problem with my laptop. Although it was not problem that could be fixed (even Lenovo couldnt do it), they charged me a very reasonable amount to try to install a replacement piece. Once it was clear that the problem couldnt be fixed, they grabbed the hard-drive to allow me to transfer my data to the cloud.

I was very skeptical trusting these people at first. When I took the risk, I bought a labtop that worked perfectly at the store. When I brought it home however the charger didnt always work and it was a brand new charger.When I called the owner, he agreed to meet me at the shop on his day off while the shop was closed and let me swap out for another labtop that was the same price and free of additional charge. Ive been going here for a while for things like macbook chargers and batteries, think I might have wrote a review in the past but recently I was looking to upgrade my setup and get an iMac. They have a great selection and were able to get me set up with a great looking iMac that runs great, also got an apple keyboard and magic mouse with it all for a great price (way cheaper than buying new and you get to support a local business while saving).

Someone forgot to removed the remote management from my macbook pro when I bought it 5 years ago (not from Dr. Chip). I called them in a panic after I tried to wipe and reinstall MAC OS on my macbook. When I went to log in after I did the install, my computer was locked to remote management.I called Dr. Chip and took it in same day, within 1 hour I had my computer back working and new OS installed with no issues! I cant recommend these guys enough!

Dr. Chip Computer is very good. A couple years ago they replaced the bulging battery in my old macbook pro. They cleaned the interior and bent the case back into shape.
