I went to save some bucks and help a student to practice. The management takes the job seriously. The students sadly did not. They were more interested in the conversation than the job. My barber was trying hard to give me a good haircut which I appreciated. It took me 1.5 hours to get half of the fade. I wanted to be a good experience, but the money saved wasn’t worth the long haircut. I had to go to a professional to get it fixed.
First!! Dont listen to the negative reviews hair was very polite and listened to my directions on how I wanted it cut and he went above and beyond my expectations. I am going to be visiting for a cut again this week so I hope I can get the same guy for the cut. Honestly he cut my hair better than just about any other barber besides maybe one or two of my favs in La Area( he is still learning and goes to show how talented he is at this!)$5 cuts all day too!!
I just got the best haircut in years. Thank you Justin, excellent hands and great communication. Nick was great as a supervisor. I recommend this establishment to everyone... THANKS>...
The barber at the college was the best that i have experienced in two years. The others were top notch. Thank you.
I came here at 3 PM on a Saturday and there were several barbers working and they turned me away saying the school is shut down at 2:30 on Saturdays. I came here with my two boys from imperial Beach because according to the website it says they close at 5:30 and also the Hours on the door say 430. I explain to the guy man I came all the way from Imperial beach he said “ IB’s not too bad I live in IB” Like that supposed to make me feel better Then he went outside to smoke a cigarette. My boys were bummed I told him this was a cool place to get a haircut because their students like you.
Ive going here for years! Lately ive had Nick for my haircut. She is awesome
My experience at the barber college was excellent. The barber did a excellent job and was very conscientous and very friendly. I will always go to this barner college because. The quality is excellent. Very clean and stereotlized. Clean place
Sean cut my hair. Good job, Ill be back
Wrong information online and rude customer service.
It is worth the cost of the cut. A lot of training going on.
My first haircut from Associated Barber College was over fifteen years. I came in today because I was way overdue on a haircut. Popeye gave me the best haircut I’ve had in a longtime. My wife said you look soo much younger and cute. Salons are way overrated. The vibe here is rock n roll and I like it. These students are young men and women on their way to excellence.
I called the website & they said they where openI checked online & it said they where openTook me two hours to get there just for them to tell me theyre closed. When theyre all just sitting in chairs talking.
Highly recommend. very reasonable price. it takes long time but they are passionate so you can get quite good hair cut. Do not miss.
I have visited this school several times and greatly appreciate helping the students as well as getting a haircut. I am retired US Navy and accustomed in a regular fresh haircut. I am not too picky with my haircut due to, it will eventually grow back with regular watering. The ability of the students to gain experience styling on a live person is valuable training that I enjoy offering. Besides, the attitude of the students are Second to none. I will recommend the San Diego Barber school to all of my friends. Thanks for serving all of San Diego!
Casey did an awesome job!
Awesome place. Barbers have good energy and are doing a good job because they are starting the profession. I give them two thumbs up.
I went there on Saturday 2/2/19 about 2:45pm. I stood at the counter for 10 minutes and no one seemed like they wanted to take my money for a haircut. A man who was wearing a blue work shirt and earrings in both ears made eye contact with me several times but continued talking to his friends and never offered to help me. Then, I said out loud, Is there anyone working here? Then the person wearing the blue work shirt told what may have been his supervisor who was passing by that, hell take care of this. He seemed like I was bothering him.I decided since the person who was helping me was the same person who made eye contact with me several times while I was waiting but did nothing to help me that I didnt want to do any further business with this place. Its turned into just a meeting place for students and their friends to hangout. So many students saw me standing there and did nothing.Every time I go there I get worse and worse service. They play their music too loud and the service is terrible. I usually tip pretty well too but I dont think I am going back.
Just got back from getting a haircut, and its probably the best hair cut I ever got. Gotta give credit to Danny for the expert cut. Yeah its gonna take a while, at least an hour, but its 5 bucks (plus tip) and they are pretty damn good, so dont be discouraged about coming here just because its a barber college.
Students/barbers were professional in manner and to customer service. If they feel uncomfortable cutting your hair they will let the professional barber know. They definitely care about the product they send out and perfecting their craft.
The school is veteran friendly and provided me with a fun learning environment. After completing the course at ABC, i was able to successfully get licensed on 1st try. Thank you ABC!
I wonder what the chance be that this 2ND OPPORTUNITY I WILL GIVE HERE, if it will turn out correctly. As the first haircut was a failure. During the process of the first haircut, I watched the cutting procedure that lead to the later failure. (but I said nothing at first, hoping for the best of luck to come). This coming chance, AS IT BE MY HAIR that I will lost: I WILL HAVE TO TEACH the cutter how/where to set My Hair ---- before that person cuts of My Hair.
Ive gotten my hair cut there twice now, and I wasnt disappointed either time. Its a barber college, not Paul Mitchell or Mario Tricoccis. They are students learning and they do a pretty decent job. I get my hair cut short so its not rocket science, but for $5, you cant beat it. The next closest barbershop in price is like $25 and he does the exact same thing.
Visited barber college and this individual stood out to me his name is Rey good very respectful person did awesome job! Clean taper fades military cuts and designs too. Check him out on your next visit
Shout-out to Johnny who cut my hair this past week. Happy, jovial and respectful young man with lots of positive energy and consideration.
I have been to this place maybe three times now and usually the students are very good--though the energy is odd (off beat) and sometimes overwhelming. That was until I got a student who apparently seemed to be very careful and courteous but had no actual skill at cutting hair; he left patches of uneven hair all over my scalp and when I asked him to correct it he use went over my scalp again and left the patches all over. I should have went to Paul Mitchell instead.
Absolutely excellent place!!!
If you want to become a barber, dont come here. I have been in an endless process to have them tell me what financial aid I was awarded, and the amount of student loans I was eligible for. I waited four weeks, when I know the information gets to them in three days. Each time I called they just told me to call back next week. Week after week went by until it turned into over a month. So i try and set up an appointment with the lady in charge of financial aid, they schedule a phone appointment with her and when i call them she is on a conference call. Isnt that why we set up an appointment? Then the lady who answered the phone tells me they dont call me back because they have nothing to tell me after a month. It seems like they could really care less about who attends their college, that is fifteen thousand dollars! All the kids answering the phone are extremely rude and Ive been hung up on multiple times. Good luck with your business plan! If you are looking for a barber college and have to use student loans/financial aid, id recommend calling a school that cares, this one is NOT it!
I’ve had my haircut many times here and the students do a good job. $5 for haircut and $5 face or scalp shave, $2 for shampoo. Can beat it in San Diego.
As a student barber I love the atmosphere. The instructors are cool and are there to help with difficult haircuts. Nice and cool ac so youre not sweating. If you want an amazing experience and a great haircut come see me lenny Primetime. My motto is I want to be your barber for life.
This is a very affordable place for a haircut. The students are mostly competent. The service is descent. For $5 I can get a really good clipperd bald haircut.
Awesome haircut! No wait at all. Its the place to go. Lots of student barbers and they are great! $6.00 for a haircut and mustache trim, totally awesome!
Been getting my cuts here on and off for years. Cheapest cuts in town plus your helping a student achieve credit or tips. Its a win-win
Shamira was amazing she took her time and turned my mop into a set piece!!
I walked in here at 4:30 pm. The shop says it closes at 5:00 pm. The first thing said to me as I open the unlocked door is, “You know were not open right?”. The lady couldn’t even say hi or how are you. Not to mention there were about 10 students sitting in the chairs on their phones doing nothing.
Usually I go here and its great but I went here yesterday and Pedro was the worst barber I ever had in my life. He was overly aggressive with the clippers, and just gave me a negative vibe. He also gave me a flattop when I specifically asked for a shadow fade with nothing off the top and now I have to cut my hair and start the growing process again. Pedro youre trash and because of you Im never going to this barber school again.
For a bunch of students, they do a very good, professional job! ☺️👍👍
You get what you pay for. And at $5 for a haircut, what could I have expected? Only the worst haircut Ive ever had since I did one myself. The place is dirty, especially the restroom. The whole place needs a deep cleaning and new paint, floors, and ceilings. The students are basically unsupervised. Although there is a sign saying that students will be supervised by licensed professionals, at no time during my cut did any instructor or other supervisor take a look. However, several other students stood around and made comments about the job. There was one time when an instructor moved some students into a different room, and warned them about the dress code (which was pretty loose, from what I could see).It was not a busy time, around 9 AM. Many students with nothing to do talked with each other loudly, complaining about the management of the school, and using four-letter words constantly while customers were in the place. The few female students were demeaned by many of the males, but usually out of earshot. But I heard them. Very unprofessional and rude.Spend the extra few dollars and go to a place you trust.
Great haircuts but the hours posted online don’t match their actual hours.Just made a terribly long bus trip for no reason just to turn around. They actually close at 430. I got there at 5.
Best skin fade ever! This is what a $20 hair cut looks like, Plus Pop with razor blade detail... Moisess -That Man
I am currently a student and going through Fasfa has been a process since it is brand new to the program but the staff has been great on keeping up with letting me know as much as they know. Its comforting to know that they are doing there best and will only get better.
Most students are sincere, but find a person with a good attitude and stick with them!
Old BBQ a relatively good job there, however if you have a favorite Barber and they are there they will let you go see them immediately
Great first haircut here by Fletch! I just moved down to SD and this was an awesome find!I will be back!
I can always rely on a good haircut with the best intentions
I just got my hair hooked up by a guy named Bogden. I dont know why people are out here crying because their 5 dollar cut dont keep their face from being jacked up. Yall ask for this dude, hes on point!
February special Hair ✂& Shave for $10.00. I love supporting the students there.
Awesome awesome awesome. Ive never had to wait for a haircut here & theyre always better than cuts Ive received elsewhere. I definitely recommend coming here
The most rudest unprofessional barbers that I have experienced
I understand this is a barber college and Ive been getting my hair cut there for years. Today I went there and was the first bad experience Ive had. The student barber messed me up and actually had the audacity to sat I was disrespectful for asking the instructor to finish my cut! Then the manager tells me to go somewhere else next time what the.. OK I wont be going back. This barber wS I experienced from the start, they cant cut basically untrained pretending to be barber, Im shocked these people are terrible ..
Im not happy with the service we offer in this hairdresser because the students hairdresser of this show can not do my hair properly only one person managed to style me correctly and I find it a shame but I find this hairdresser pleasant why I keep coming despite these small discontent on my part I like the welcome and the atmosphere (Zorane Tozich Abdallah) Im Ivorian I come from the Ivory Coast
Best haircut ive ever had was here...about 2 years ago. It was called a Sculpture Cut. Any time Im in town, ill be back!
Wonderful
The Philippino(papi) instructor took over, bcause the girl was really nervous and I panicked when he gave her instructions to line me up and I got up and left. Great haircut, though.
Very good job nice people!
I have called this school 5 times to get information on classes.1st time a woman answered the phone with a mouth full of food and said, their not here call back. the second and third time I called Ron was too busy to talk to me.4th time the guy that answered the phone was rude and very short, not welcoming at all and clearly didnt care if I went there or not.5th time,Rons busy what do you want?I said,I would like information on starting classes. the guy said,1000 dollars. Then I had to force him to write my number down and give it to Ron.I said I had special circumstances I wanted to talk to Ron about and he hung up.Still no call back ugh
Fantastic young barbers. Cheap as with excellent skills and quality people.
Im so happy I finally got my fafsa done thanks to all the hard work of Martha even tho it was a process it was worth the wait
Carrie is the cats meow!!! A true artist... careful though, just might tumble like I did! 😊
Friendly and professional at a great price.
They do not follow their advertised hours.
I love the service great hair cuts
Very rude stuff. I stopped by to check this place out and the guard of all people jumped at me with how can i help you sir grawl while placing his hand on his bat. Very bizzare. I suspect this place accustomed to constant alterations with the area homeless population.
Never had a bad cut.
Awesome!, Ali is the man!
Very very bad customer service, ghetto, dirty, lazy and incompatent staff, students . I never attempt to go their again and anyone things of it dont waste you time they are all rude and jerks.
Always been done right
Beware, this place is only open until 4:30 PM, daily, although the Web says that it is open til 5:30 PM, daily; and if you arrive anywhere near 4:00 PM, youre likely to get a rush job of a haircut that you will regret!
Good!
I give 2 stars because I was not satisfied with the service given to me on April 14, 2018
