Great shop with honest people. I got my smog inspection done here and the first failed because I had just replaced the car battery ~1 hour prior. Since I wasnt aware that it needed to be driven a bit after a battery replacement (to electronically record relevant data), the employee did not charge me and suggested I return after driving 50+ miles (after which I did and it passed). The employee also notified me of a minor unrelated repair I should look into, provided a cost estimate, and did not pressure or exaggerate the urgency of doing it. Because of the kindness and honesty shown by that employee, I plan to return here for future inspections / maintenance.

I worked with a fella who’s name was Sam. He constantly interrupted and talked over me while I tried asking questions about my vehicle and work I wanted done.None of their prices are as advertised. I paid over $500 for a battery and an AC recharge.I picked my vehicle up early and took it to the jiffy lube next door for the rest of the services I needed done.I would not recommend this shop to anyone, your money is better spent elsewhere.

Really shady, piece was only 20 dollars changed it myself within an hour. They were trying to charge me $600! And make me wait 5 hours. They were insulting my mother when she was asking questions, very rude and bad service do not come here they will try to run your pockets. *edit* Hi, first off I went to your shop to see what was wrong, I mean that’s what everyone does. Worst experience of my life. I went in for a simple service and after trying to convince me my car needed an $850 service and I said Id have to come back another day because I had to get a second opinion the father and son told me a owed a $180 fee for the 15 minute inspection they did... I asked a few more questions about the high price and the son began to yell at me and use ridiculous profanity. I am a visibly 5 month pregnant woman.

The workers there are extremely nice to their customers and they go above and beyond so that their customers are happy!

Shady business I asked for a simple tire patch and I got offers for discounts and new tires. They only offer these things to see who they can exploit dont fall for their tricks you can find better prices somewhere else. *Edit* In less then 15 minutes they replied back to this post, not only insulting the customer but they spinned this around to make them seem more generous then they are. I took my car at the last minute and they were happy to help me still even though they were going to close in like 5 minutes. They were very nice and helpful and explained everything to me even when they could have just told me to find out at the D.M.V. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone I know. Went in on a Saturday because I had a check engine light pop on while visiting from Arizona. Absolutely had to be back home by Sunday and the guys there were kind enough to check out my car and fix the issue all in the same day. I believe the men were honest and fair and I don’t feel like I was ripped off. They even showed me the old parts they replaced and why they failed.

I asked the guy at the front if he could have someone that new how to drive a stick bring my car in for service from the parking lot. I had to watch and listen as the guy he sent grinded the gears into position. If you have a nice car that you care about this is not the place. That was the first time any gear was forced into position in my car and since then I still have problems getting it into gear. Came in for a smog, now Im pricing a new 5 thousand dollars transmission.

Would give 0 stars if i could. Sure they were fast but very very shady. Asked for a tune up (replace spark plugs, change oil, transmission flush, brake fluid flush). Yes this is a lot of fluids but after looking at the receipt I paid almost double for JUST the parts (fluids). Now, when i say double I mean double the price YOU can buy these products at. They charged double the price of what the standard price is AND they are an auto shop which means they already get all of these fluids insanely below normal market price.2nd: Smog failed because they did the tune up and smogged after: meaning the car didnt go through a drive cycle after the tune-up. they charged 39.95 for the failed smog and tried to diagnose the problem for another $100+. Took it to another shop right after doing the drive cycle myself (drive 40 miles after a tuneup) and it passed. Absolutely shady and overpriced.Also: I have never written a review before for poor service, and felt I absolutely needed to for this. That’s how bad this was.

I will not come back. These guys do decent work but they try to up sell too much for my taste. Brought my vehicle in for a thermostat change and I was recommended $1,000 of work. Also, the 10% off labor at the end is given to every customer so you feel as if you received a discount. This just tells me that they price so high giving 10% does not affect their bottom line. I suggest you go somewhere else, there are plenty of good mechanics around.

Total rip off. They will upcharge you without telling you, just surprise you with a bigger bill than quoted when you go to pay. I told them exactly what was wrong with my van, they said they didnt believe charged me 300$$ to see what was wrong. Turns out it was exactly what I told them was wrong with it. Scam artists should be posted above the front door. 1,375.00$$ for a new starter and replacement gas fill line. Outrageous.

Be very clear on what you want or need, listen to what the staff have to say and make a decision on what you need done. Speedy is fair and will tell you up front their diagnosis may vary if they find something else.My daughter and I enjoyed working with the owner.

They advertise $29 smog checks, but when you go there they say it’s $60. Classic bait and switch. They even take down all your info before they tell you the price, hoping that you will just go along with it.

I am so glad I called Speedy auto repair. My Audi dealership told me that the wheel bearing is loose and its not safe to drive around anymore. Soon after I dropped off my car with speedy auto repair for the wheel bearing job, the guys from speedy Auto called me and told me that there is nothing wrong with my wheel bearing...yes, its loud, but it is simply just an annoyance not an issue. He told me that in all honesty, it will need to be replaced eventually but not right now. I decided to go ahead with the job anyway. I received a reasonable bill and great service. I would definitely recommend Speedy auto repair.

Piss poor service, bad experience. Came in for a smog check, had my car running idle with the hood up for almost an hour while worker helped others. New customers pulled up, worker helped them, sat in the office chatting with other people, all while vehicle just sat wasting gas idling at a bay. Never going back.

Do not work on Hyundai cars vehicles I was rejected Smog Repair

My check engine light was on and stopped by to have it checked out.  I was dreading the cost of the diagnosed emissions leak.  Their knowledgeable staff had experience in the specific code that the diagnostic test noted as the problem.  This eliminated the need for exploratory engine surgery.  Within 1 hour my car was properly diagnosed and fixed. In the event of any other needed repairs I will definitely return thank you for great service!

I am very pleased with my experience at Speedy auto repair. I came here because of the shops proximity to my house, and the bumper and windshield on my Lexus were damaged. The boss was very helpful to me from the time I came in to get a quote, to the time I picked up my vehicle. I would definitely recommend Speedy auto repair to anyone in the need for vehicle repairs.

My SUV smog test said, not ready. I asked what that means and the man in the office said, I dont know but if you bring it back tomorrow for $150 I can hook it up to the diagnostic machine and figure it out for you, and if you have the repairs done in the shop then I wont charge you $150 for the diagnostic test. I found out that there was nothing wrong with my SUV. I just needed to drive it 200 miles to set the emissions monitors to ready. He knew exactly what was wrong with my SUV and now I know he was trying to get a lot of money out of me.

I had to take in my 1996 Mercedes for a ac trouble.Overall the quality was good, fast service (changed my AC compressor in a day) with 1 year 12k miles warranty. I did find other places that were a little cheaper than they were but if you are living in the area, Speedy is a solid place

I had my 99 Honda accord serviced here a few months ago, turned out the problem was the fuel pump. The guys at speedy auto repair took care of it and even worked extra hours on it to ensure we had the car by Monday so my wife could go to school and I could go to work (active duty). Its hard to find a trustworthy, honest mechanic, especially when they have young soldiers moving inconsistently not knowing any better. But Speedy auto repair is the real deal. Honest, trustworthy mechanic and military friendly!

I didnt think my car was going to pass smog. I had had so many problems with the registration already. I called and they said there was no wait. Perfect. About 20 minutes later the Father said, today is a good day, your car passed smog! I was pulling out my cash and was short by a couple of dollars and the father told his son its good. No worries! Thats speedy alright.Then I went to DMV to register my car and guess what, i was there for 2-hours waiting... ouch!Anyway great service, nice staff, and Im happy.The place is difficult to find and difficult to get to through traffic.Good car repair.

They fixed my Volvo coolant leak and identified the cause and fixed that too! When they test drive the vehicle the identified some major suspension work that needed addressed asap! I recently had my headlight repaired at Speedy auto repair. I dropped my car off in the morning and they had the electrical issue fixed by late afternoon. San Diego has the worst customer service across the board that Ive ever seen in the United States. However, Speedy auto repair is an exception to that rule. I would highly recommend them to anyone who wants an auto repair shop you can trust.

Called Dani this afternoon and inquired about a SMOG test. Brought the car in and presented his online rate of $29.99 for test only- cert. extra $. Dani tells me that because my car is a V8 and not a V6 model that the price will be different. I looked him straight in the eye and smiled and walked out.For anyone that is uninformed about cars(which is lost people) this establishment will take advantage of you.The way SMOG is completed is exactly the same for 2000 models and newer. Doesn’t matter car weight, V8 vs. V6, car or truck. It’s the same process. For cars 1999 and older it is a different process and slightly more costly and some vans require extra labor to remove parts to see emissions but that’s it.Dani, if you are reading this I hope your business is doing so well that you can lose customers due to your lies about pricing.If you can spare 10 minutes take your car to North Park Auto Repair or somewhere that has a spine and won’t take advantage of you.

Had noise in rear passenger side of car all the way from East coast. Four mechanics on the way couldn’t find the problem and getting worse. Just happened to pass by and see Speedy Auto. Swung around to see if they could look at it. Got us right in. Boss took vehicle for a test drive. Put car On lift when he got back. Found problem in a few minutes when no one else could. Fixed the problem and got us back on the road in less than an hour. Left undiagnosed, problem would have become a major, costly repair. Very reasonably priced. Especially since he knew the circumstances. Very honest. Knowledgeable. Expert mechanic. Highly recommend shop to others.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Sam and his team. We are so happy to have found a mechanic that we trust. We have received exceptional service every time we come here. Speedy Auto Repair actually had my preferred 5W-30 synthetic oil for my car. Very reasonable price and a quick oil change! I also, had the battery replaced since it was about 5 1/2 years old and the dash panel lights started to dim every time I braked.Since I was already at Speedy Auto Repair for an oil change, I asked if they can change the battery as well. The mechanic did some checking, and found the one that fit. It was a pretty good one, too with a 5 year warranty. It was even cheaper than the Die Hard that was dying on me. I didnt have an appointment, so, I was actually ready to drop off my car to pick up later that day. Luckily, it was all done within an hour while I waited.

If you are looking for a place to take care of your car, this is it! Ive been going here for about 2 years now and they have taken great care of my vehicle. Im always hyper vigilant about who I take my Volkswagen to because maintenance/upkeep with parts is just more expensive with this type of car, but they always come out with a fair price for their work. Last year, I had to have a lot done to my vehicle in order to get ready for a cross country road trip and they were able to change my oil, filters, replace all four tires and brakes the day I brought my car in so that I was going to be safe during my travel. They truly care about their customers and they find time to bring me to my vehicle to explain what they are doing whenever I get more than an oil change done. Plus, if you are looking for a spot to get your SMOG check, they do it here and its a quick process.

Overall I had a very good experience here. The mechanics were up front about pricing (which were reasonable) and honest. When I picked up my car the final bill was below the estimate.I will say that I went in having a very good idea what was wrong with my car. It was a relatively straight-forward repair.

Ive been to a few auto repair shops and I have to compliment Speedy Auto Repair on their honesty and genuine care for your vehicle. They wont beat around the bush about what your car needs, and if you dont have the money at the time to afford the repair they will respectfully understand. I felt respected and treated with courtesy at all times and Sam was always willing to take me back to the working area where I could see exactly what was wrong with my car, so that I felt comfortable with them repairing it. The name for the shop is also appropriate as they work fast unless its a weekend and they need to order parts from other merchants who open on weekdays. Im satisfied and thankful with the service !

Found this place on Google and saw all of the good reviews.  I needed to get my car inspected and this place is less than a mile from where I live. The young lady that greeted me was so super sweet.  I got there at around 11 am and was driving away in less than 30 minutes. This will be my to-go to place for inspections!

Good choice for my 20-year-old Toyota. the staff did great work. I took them my 99 Toyota Camry that was running hot/overheating, had some oil leaking and airbag light on. He was able to fix everything in a couple of days at a reasonable cost. Will use him again.

Their coupon is a scam. They advertise a $29.95 coupon, but when I got there he told me it wasn’t valid for my car model. It was a total scam to get people to come in. I did get in and out quickly though.

I am disappointed to have put my faith and trust in a business that my mother has visited for years. Long story short, I’d purchased a car under false pretenses, and upon later contact to clarify information, it became clear, egoistic defense trumped integrity, humanity, and transparency. Aside from personal downtrodden experience. I thank the father of the business, for taking care of my mother’s mechanical auto maintenance, as she is always glowing about how well he treats her. However, as I’d only encountered the sons and was ghosted upon request to communicate directly with the owner. I unfortunately cannot extend the same gratitude, as the treatment and manner in which I was spoken, was highly demeaning and disrespectful.

I have an older car that needed Star Certification. Thats pretty scary because you are at the mercy of the Smog Station. Its very easy for them to fail the smog test without an issue, you can fail alone for not passing a visual test. This is how many disreputable smog businesses make easy money - because you just want to get it over with, youll pay whatever they ask to fix whatever is causing the car to fail smog testing. Not Speedy Auto & Smog. No tricks, theyre completely honest and straightforward. If you have any worries in advance, call them and theyll help you know what you need to do to have the car pass. They dont play games. Its family owned, the lowest price I found anywhere and the staff couldnt be more pleasant. For a process that usually is a headache, they take all the worry away. On top of all that, they work fast. I brought a newspaper with me to pass the time, before I finished the first story, they were done. Im sending all my friends and will return whenever I need a smog certification.

I was instantly impressed by their customer service when I called in. Danny was extremely polite on the phone and gave me great pricing on the services I needed (smog and oil change). For an oil change and smog check, I spent just a little more than what other garages charge for an oil change alone. When I pulled in, I was instantly greeted and told where to go. They estimated 45 minutes for everything, and were done in 30. They charged me exactly what was quoted on the phone, and I didnt have to put up with anyone trying to up-sell me on things I dont really need. I will definitely be returning to Speedy Auto and telling my friends about it too. They are honest, friendly, and do great work.

I needed a smog check but they did an engine scan and said there was a problem, and then tried to charge me $120 just to diagnose the problem. They also said they needed several hours to do so.I went to my regular mechanic and they charged me $120 to FIX the problem in under two hours. I wouldnt call Speedy Auto scammy, but definitely greedy with a self important attitude.Oh and if you need a Star smog check, go to North Park Auto Repair, its $30 with their coupon.

I took my vehicle in during a brief trip to SD and encountered a tire warning light during the drive after having left the Nissan dealership. Staff was extremely helpful and courteous. After reviewing the issue, turns out the Nissan dealership staff neglected to reset the maintenance light. Speedy quickly resolved the matter at no charge.

We had never been and passed by often so we came and got my smog check which did not take that long while we waited inside the office which was very nice clean and cool for a car shop. They did excellent work on my 10 year old Sienna. Elsewhere it would have cost much, much more (I did two quotes)! Also a 10% discount for new customers, and 2% off if paid with check or cash. These guys are trustworthy and know what they are doing! Regarding the Smog issue some of you talked about, usually a cheaper price is for a smaller vehicle. If you read the print larger vehicles cost more. Havent found a better mechanic than these brothers and family! Thank you!

Honest mechanic! My 1973 Mustang (a family treasure) was rehabilitated by Great Potential in 2014. I dont want anyone else to work on the car. They are friendly, professional and qualified. I was in San Diego for the weekend when my girlfriends engine light came on followed by an over-heated engine.  We stopped at Speedy’s without any expectations, but we were met with a very helpful person who checked out our car, filled up our coolant, and gave us a some much needed confidence that we could get home safely.  Speedy’s went above and beyond (for no charge) so well be looking for an opportunity to pass it on.  Cant recommend San Diego Speedy’s enough.
