Thanks for great service! They were able to locate and provide me with a loaner vehicle. They also asked what type of car I had and advised on how to get one comparable, overall very helpful for the whole process. I had the loaner for 2 months and am sad to bring it back. Check out was super easy and they provided me transportation to pick up my vehicle from the body shop.

The car was nice and clean, the rental went by without a hitch. Since I was driving to Mexico with the car, I had to stop in San Diego Airport for the Mexican car insurance (an extra $38). That was expected and I was charged $38 accordingly. Then a mysterious $10 charge appeared on my credit card. Just received the receipt via e-mail which shows $131 for the car rental and $48 (instead of $38) for the Mexico car insurance, resulting in an overcharge of $10. I never experienced that with any of the Hertz locations, this overcharge is why I gave it three stars instead of five.

Worst car rental location in the country. I would give a 0 if possible. Tell you 1 price then charge another. Very rude and unreasonable owner. Take you’re money somewhere else. Even if it costs a little more. Do not give these people you’re money. You will most likely regret it. Why give you’re money to a poorly run business when there are so many properly run businesses. Hertz dropped the ball using this place as a contractor. Buyer beware. Don’t make the same mistake as me.

Love this Hertz will only rent from here, they get all my business. They are extremely professional and cars always ready and clean. Jake is always friendly and polite so is the owner very down to earth guy.I have booked last minute same day and always had exceptional service. Read some bad reviews and they are full of crud obviously fake. These guys are working hard in this virus we are all suffering through, and yes they require you wear a mask but the cars are ready cleaned and no touch service. I for one appreciate that very much. Great job guys as always!!

Reserved a vehicle through a business account for a Saturday 2:30pm pick up time as the Hertz website stated they were open until 3:00pm on Saturdays after June 1st. My co-worker arrived Saturday prior to 2:30pm and found it to be closed. We proceeded to have a 2 hour ordeal to rectify the situation and ultimately had to cancel the Hertz rental and utilize a different company at the John Wayne airport. I called Jake the Manager at San Clemente Hertz today to be met by an apathetic response that could have cared less that this cost us over 2 hours of inconvenience. He simply stated the website has the wrong hours and they are working on fixing it and the fine print says hours can change due to COVID. When I asked why the system would allow a rental if they are closed and why they didnt notify us that they actually close at 2:00pm he stated there was no contact information despite that we utilized our business account and I entered my work email and received the reservation confirmation to my work email. He said they just contract with Hertz and that John is the Hertz area manager for their location. I asked for his contact information and Jake said he could not provide Johns personal information. I stated I simply wanted his business email just as he and I both have business emails and he refused saying he wasnt allowed to give me that information. He seemed unbothered they had lost a $500+ rental or that he wasted 2+ hours of our time. Id recommend rent from a real Hertz or actual rental car agency.

Bill was super helpful and was able to upgrade our rental. We were supposed to pick our car up in Dana Point but there was an issue and they called Hertz in San Clemente and Bill hooked us up for the same price.Great experience, highly recommend!

I rented a car and gave a problem so called the customer service and they couldnt help us so i went to the store and the manager jake was so helpful and best at his service he helped a lot solved our big issues and it was so gre of him . so this review is not for hertz but for the staff of the sen clement hertz outlet so thankful of them specially jake .

I ONLY RENT FROM BILLS HERTZ! I RENTED FROM THIS PLACE 3 TIMES AND TONITE I AM RENTING AGAIN! BILL TREATED ME SO VERY NICE.. EVEN WHEN I AM NOT EVEN LOCAL TO THIS STORE.. I DRIVE BECAUSE HE TAKES GREAT CARE OF ME! ONE TIME HE UPGRADED ME AT NO CHARGE BECAUSE I WAS HONEST AND TOLD HIM I HAVE MENTAL ISSUES TRYING TO DRIVE AN ECONOMY CAR.. BC THEY ARE TOO SMALL FOR ME. Dont rent a car or truck here! Flexible hours and no service on Sat afternoon-Monday am requires you to return the vehicle with a full tank and park it in the middle of the mall parking lot (close to entrance or in back will result in towing). Lack of security means you run a high risk of siphoned gas and vehicle vandalism. Other reviews indicate this is a frequent occurrence. I was charged $74 for a flat tire and didnt find out about it until Hertz emailed me the receipt.As you can see from the other postings the owner completely lacks empathy and responsibility. Hertz quotes the fine print – you take the fall. As a Hertz Gold member, I recommend Enterprise San Clemente or Hertz Dana Point (Marriott). Same rates but better hours and security. Not sure what value Hertz sees in this dealer relationship.

Never use Hertz, just dont do it. Theyll give you a free upgrade thatll triple the insurance cost without telling you, then once you leave the gate and unknowingly pay for the increase, theyll say unfortunately we cant help you. Only use Hertz if you want to get swindled out of hundreds of dollars for a scratched up car with a bent license plate.

Terrible service, over charged twice, no help...I rented in July for a trip and the first car busted its transmission and I had to pick up a new one way out of the way. Then when I brought it back, they charged me for gas that I had already put in. Fine whatever, some times people screw up. Then I rented it a car for one day on Dec 23, just needed to drive to LA and back, and I asked what time they close so I could make sure I brought it back (knowing its christmas eve the next day) and the manager said oh I dont know, maybe 12 or 1pm, but if you cant make that, just put the keys in the drop box and its okay - what he neglected to say was that you get charged for a full extra day for that... So I got charged two days for a car I only needed for less than a day. Then it got even worse when I got charged $70 for a gas, when I had filled it full with gas before bringing it back. The manager basically told me tough luck, you should have brought it back before we closed, I am a businessman nice guy, oh and you obviously didnt put gas in it or I wouldnt have charged you... Even though I told him I have the bank statements. Now I get to go through the whole corporate process to get my gas money back. I normally dont care about stuff like this, but this business is done horribly and I lost 200$ out of it.

I had to get my car fixed in the local area last weekend and was advised to call Hertz for a rental car. If there was a way to negatively rate the customer service, I would. I have NEVER been treated so rudely by any customer service. It was extremely disappointing. The owner, Bill, also runs a post office and while I empathize with his busy situation, he still managed to yell and scream at me when I asked questions, called me stupid and hung up on me twice.I dont care what is going on in your work environment, when you have a customer who has questions, you need to answer them professionally.I strongly advise anyone who needs to rent a car to go somewhere else. Bill was very rude, condesending and borderline verbally abusive. I intend to report him.DO NOT GO HERE.

So I booked a rental at this location instead of the airport due to the cost and ease of location. Or so I thought I rented and economy vehicle for 4 days returning it nearly 12 hours early, for $100. I dropped it off after hours, even taking a photo of the gas and mileage, just because I never trust after hours drop offs. I get a rental car for work about once a month, but have never from Hertz. I did arrive one hour early for my pick up, and there was no vehicle available. So that was fine, as I went to my appointment and came back. The vehicle they had for me was a really nice vehicle and I was pleasantly surprised. The issue was on the return. I called to make sure that I could return my car not at 6 p.m. on the 3rd day, but two and a half hours later. The gentleman assured me that since I had picked up at 11 a.m. I had until 11 a.m. on the 4th day to return it per my quote. When I received my bill my charge was higher than my quote. I called and was told I was charged for an extra half day for my return. I had the car for three and a half days, and had been originally quoted for 4. They charged me for four and a half days. I had to basically prove to the 1-800 operator at hurts when I had returned my car by using my gas receipt and airline ticket time, just to get my money back. Be very wary of this location when you check out. Make sure your after hours drop off is confirmed. It was a complete hassle to have to get my charges reversed.

Do not rent from here! The owner of this Hertz franchise treated us horribly. He yelled and argued with customers. Does he not know what the hospitality industry is about? We asked his employee if he was like this all the time or if he was having a bad day. They told us that it was worse than what we saw. He physically tried to intimidate my wife and take her car keys away when she argued back with him. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE!

If I could do zero stars I would, the worst hertz location in the country, along side the Dana Point Marriott location which is equally bad. The regional manager must be horrible.you will NOT get the hertz service you are used to. Your car will be the wrong type, your reservation will be unavailable, the car will be dirty, you will be charged wrongly, you will not get your pick up, the staff will gang up on you and lie, the office will be closed when you arrive, any other problem you can possibly imagine ruining your schedule, work day, or, vacation, you will have it here.I have been complaining to hertz corporate about it, the owner just hung up on me this morning after yelling at me for five minutes while I was trying to return a car, I rent cars all the time and am an elite gold plus member....., I am writing the BBB and chamber and am giving up on HErtz for this whole region. I am writing a formal letter to hertz reccomending they drop this mans license.

DO NOT rent a car from this place - the van we received smelled like smoke and was covered in dog hair, then on top of that they charged us a $50 cleaning fee - and then pawned me of to corporate a saying they were just an agent!!
