I can give the highest recommendation for working with Laura Kosbie. My daughter worked with Laura throughout the spring to prepare for a June AP Statistics exam. Math, in general, is not a subject that comes easily for my daughter, and that also included AP Statistics. We were looking for a tutor whose approach was kind and supportive, but also structured and efficient. Laura was fantastic with establishing a strong rapport with my daughter, and was able to assess her needs, dive in, and truly improve my daughters understanding of statistics. Occasionally, I would overhear their sessions, and Laura asked great questions that helped my daughter to understand where she had misunderstood or misapplied a concept. My daughter would come away from a tutoring session feeling much more confident about her abilities to master the material. Laura was also great about understanding schedule conflicts with sports, when those situations arose. The upshot is that my daughter came to Laura as a student who was struggling in the AP Statistics class at school, to a student who passed the AP Statistics exam and earned college credit for it. Most of my daughters success on the exam can be credited to Lauras skills as a tutor (along with dedication and effort on my daughters part). Laura is the person to go to if you are looking for a knowledgeable, effective, and reliable tutor with a great personality that will make your student feel very welcome and very comfortable doing AP Statistics.

Kristal Jameson is an incredible tutor! She is great at teaching concepts, a good listener, patient, attentive, and, overall, has been instrumental in my ability to perform in my math class. I would highly recommend Kristal as she is not only a great tutor but easy-going and easy to talk to. David Barton is another amazing tutor that has coached me on the intricacies of the ACT exam. He is great at teaching concepts quickly and has been key in preparing me for the ACT exam.

I would highly recommend Nick for AP English Lang and Comp tutoring as well as AP Lang and Comp test prep. Nick is enthusiastic, knows his subject well, and is results-oriented.He created an individualized tutoring program for me based on my strengths and weaknesses and kept my goals in mind. I felt well prepared for the AP English Lang and Comp test and overall became a more competent writer.

I worked with Nick Deehan for about a year for my advanced English class. Nick was really easy to communicate and connect with which made me comfortable asking questions and sharing ideas. When helping me with my writing, he pushed my ideas without giving away the exact answer, helping me learn how to build and structure ideas better when I’m writing by myself. Nick also helped me find precise language to make my ideas stronger. Additionally, he was really quick to reply to emails, allowing me to reach out to him for help on school assignments that I only had a few days to work on. Overall, I really enjoyed working with Nick and felt that he gave me skills that I can now implement in my own writing. I look forward to working with him next year.

Nick is a very helpful tutor and I learned a lot from him. My English grades are a lot better now thanks to his help and my writing became a lot stronger. He is also very chill and easy to talk to which makes his lessons a lot of fun. I would definitely recommend coming to AJ tutoring!

Stephen Horabin is an excellent tutor. He really understands the ins and outs of the SAT and explains difficult concepts in a way that everyone can understand. Because of his tutoring I got a high score on my first SAT attempt and no longer need to worry about it.

Mathieu was a really helpful ACT tutor. He was especially helpful when tutoring me on the math portion of my test because I struggled to remember many of the concepts. He taught me the math concepts in a very understandable way. He was very patient and I never felt judged during those tutoring sessions. The San Carlos location was also pretty comfortable. Elizabeth was an excellent teacher for the SAT class. She was very friendly, welcoming, and helpful with a great sense of humor as well. The tutoring with Elizabeth at AJ in San Carlos was very helpful. It taught me many useful strategies that I hope to apply on the real test to bump my score up a few points. This was a really great experience. I worked with Pat on the SAT Reasoning. He was incredibly helpful, and I managed to move up overall 400 or more points in total! It was very fun, and I would definitely recommend them. AJ Tutoring also has lots of locations, so if its more convenient for you to work in another place, you can practice there.

My experience at AJ tutoring was very beneficial. With a very short amount of time to prepare for my ACT my tutor Elizabeth was able to schedule 3 quick sessions where she taught me an array of different strategies that I was able to put in to action while taking the test.

I came into tutoring not knowing what to expect. I had no idea what an SAT even looked like because i have not had much experience with standardized testing. The tutors have a great combination of seriousness and humor and always come to the sessions prepared. I feel like I can excell with the tests i take in the future and If you are hesitant on which tutor to use, go with AJ.

AJ is pretty expensive but its definitely is worth the price! I had tutoring with Mathieu E to improve my SAT score and I went from a 1120 (which I got on the PSAT in 10th grade) to a 1460. The personalized lesson plans and the AJ SAT practice book are rigorous and take hard work but they prepare you very well.

Mathieu was exactly the perfect fit for my daughter to master geometry. His calm, reassuring approach spurred my daughter to tackle difficult problems and celebrate small successes. Mathieu explained math in a way that was easy to absorb. She is excited to continue tutoring with Mathieu during the winter to prep for the SAT which is one of his specialities.

I always look forward to getting tutored at AJ Tutoring. Overall, its a very helpful experience and I feel much more prepared for my tests.
