We have been here twice. They did a really good job both times. My daughter’s hair style looked very nice, with a side braid and butterfly clip. My sons’ haircuts were done well, also. We always purchase a lot of curly hair products here, too, because they are hypoallergenic.

I would prefer ZERO Stars but its not allowed if you actually want to leave a review. We called to make an appointment. Specifically asked if they have worked on children with Autism. Were told they did. Got there a few minutes early. Woman walked in after us over an hour late and our daughter was pushed back to accommodate them instead. Then asked the stylist, when finally able to get one, if she had worked with autistic kids. She said yes all the time.. NO WAY! She was rude, no soft skills whatsoever. Wife explained if she doesnt take a soft approach our daughter will escalate. Instead of listing to what was said the stylist chose to push ahead forcing everything and butchered our daughters hair. Now we have to find a place that actually does work with autistic children. Clearly this place does not. DO NOT GO HERE. Paid $25 for something worse than a blind person could have done. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE.. ZERO STARS!!!

We had the first appointment of the day and one of the works unlocked the door. As she unlocked the door she looked at us standing outside but didn’t open the door for us, didn’t greet us, didn’t welcome us in.We get inside and none of the employees greeted us. We check in and sit our son in the chair. We show the stylist a picture of what we want for our son. She states that they don’t do barber cuts. We didn’t know that they didn’t do that type of hair cuts.No one was pleasant and no one was kind. Everyone had an attitude.We decided to leave. Before we could take our son out of the chair the stylist yells to the front desk person that is 10 ft away, “CANCEL THE APPOINTMENTS!!”NEVER GOING THERE AGAIN AND DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE GO THERE!

Basic, they can’t even greet the kids, no good morning, no hello, and when asked to cut their hair a certain way she was so quick to say no! And no other options given. Second time here and first time was also poor service, we were hoping for a better experience. I feel bad for the business owner… it all starts with customer service… a basic hello. I can’t cut his hair that way but we are more than happy to try this… but because they lack experience and common customer service skill they are happy to say, “ Cancel the appt!” Wow…. And to be specific with who helped us… it was OLGA, this was also the person who cut my sons hair the first time with the same service! Just bad… it’s a kids hair cut salon you need to learn to be kind Olga…. And everyone else.

My husband and I came in not knowing what to expect since we never attempted to cut our 4 year olds hair. We were very iffy about any styles we saw on Google and were unsure how we wanted his hair cut. Nancy was our sons barber and as soon as she took him she made sure he was comfortable as can be. She put him in a firetruck chair and put on toy story for him (his favorite) to make his first haircut a good experience. She not only comforted him but also put both my husband and I at ease. After seeing how unsure about what style we wanted for him she recommended a fohawk and we both absolutely loved it and so did our son. During his hair cut we expected him to cry or freak out but he stood still thee whole time and took it better than we both thought which was a huge relief. Our experience was amazing and we will definitely recommend sharkeys to our friends and family :)) If anyone is scared to get their childs hair cut for thee first time I highly would recommend Mrs. Nancy. She is just awesome at what she does and tries her best to make it a good experience for not only babies or toddlers but also for parents :)) She is also super sweet and very professional 👍👍👍👍 If I could I would rate our first visit here more than 5 stars..

Booked my 5 childrens appointment online only to get 2 messages saying that 2 services where canceled and when calling to confirm my appointments to find out one of my daughters appointment was moved to a later time. I did not cancel my appointments nor move them. So I had to cancel the appointments that where left. Didnt get a sorry nor an explanation. Tried looking for a place that would be a fun experience for my girls but I guess this isnt it if appointments are moved/ canceled.

Julia cut my sons hair today and it looks GREAT!! She talked through several different cuts with my husband before she even started on my sons hair. She was very nice to my son and made him feel very welcome and comfortable. My son loved sitting in the firetruck and watching cartoons while getting his hair cut. We will definitely keep coming to see her everytime my kids need haircuts!

If I could leave no star I would this place is trash. Lady said walking are accepted if there’s a no show client or they get done fast. Not the case they will skip you no matter what. So much for a first time haircut.

Went here for my sons first haircut. Our stylist did an amazing job of moving quickly and efficiently while making him look great. We were in and our in under 30 min. She gave very good instructions to me in terms of what she needed me to do to help her as well. They made his first haircut a fun experience.

We were running late and the staff was very nice about it. (The grace period is only 5 minutes btw). We picked out a show for my son to watch and they fixed the terrible, mangled haircut I did.He hadnt ever had a professional haircut before so he enjoyed sitting in the firetruck chair and she was super fast at getting his hair looking good.Got his balloon, paid fast and got out! Only one client at a time so they book up fast but I really appreciate how safe that is with a super high risk son and being pregnant. Will be back the next time he starts looking scruffy.

I have been taking my autistic son here for many years. Julia does an excellent job with his haircut, and they also offer a teacher discount, which is always great.

The staff is lazy and rude and will lie to avoid doing their job. They refuse to shampoo or style. Only the most basic haircuts. They do not state this on their website when you make the appointment. They also charge full price for service they are not providing. They say it’s because of Covid which makes absolutely no sense. This is the only location doing this. Take the time to go to the Stone Oak location and avoid this one. You’ll be glad you did. Oh and you can get all the products they sell on Amazon for much cheaper.

Being a thrifty person, I have tried several more budget businesses to cut my sons hair, but I was often disappointed. I took him to Sharkeys in late February 2020, right before the pandemic hit. It is the best haircut he has ever had.On first sight, it looked good, but the pandemic proved it even better than I realized because it grew out so well. He went an entire year before having it cut again. It was getting a little long and shaggy near the end, but the majority of that year, the shape still looked pretty neat even for longer hair.Recently went back again, and even having a different stylist, another great cut, and they were pretty slammed because their Bandera location was out of service due to problems after the big winter storm, so they were juggling a lot of clients. I watched them handle the busyness with professionalism and respect.

Both of our children have been getting their hair cut here since they were a year old. Both of my kids love getting their hair cut here and get excited every time we tell them. The experience today was rushed and definitely not what were used to. My daughter received a Great Clips haircut with 2 butterfly clips and glitter spray for $22. Normally this would include shampoo and conditioner, and braid or fun style, and her nails painted. When questioned we were told this was due to COVID. This is her 3rd haircut since May once in Florida, once at another location in town and every time we have had the same experience. If you are going to do half the service then charge half the price. We will definitely drive across town to go back to the other location.

Everyone is always patient and nice with my son when we go. I know its hard to cut my sons hair when hes moving around but they always do a good job.

Julia has been cutting my sons hair for awhile now. She is very patient, kind, and does a great job. When we started coming here my son would have a fit, cry, scream, and move A LOT all due to previous bad experiences elsewhere. She has made it where every experience has been great, and she is super fast! She has easily earned my sons trust, and hair cuts are no longer a dreaded trip for both of us. Some people may complain about the price, but in my opinion I feel like it’s fair, and more than worth it for the experience. Those that complain about the 5 minute grace period, and how unfair it is need to understand that when you make an appointment you’re making a commitment. If you can’t make that commitment, don’t make an appointment (or easy fix show up on time). The salon is always clean, appointments run on time, and we appreciate the extra precautions taken to keep us safe during this pandemic. Thank you Julia, and Sharky’s staff!!

Its always a hit or miss with the service and the cut. Some days theyre awesome and friendly and the cut looks great, either days they have attitude and the haircut looks half good. For the price I rather now go to a barber or even supercuts/greatclips

Haircut looks great! I wish I had caught the name of the woman who cut his hair but she was very patient and worked with him. My son HATES haircuts and this was by far the best one hes ever had. Very much worth the price!

I made an appt for 4:30 Friday. They called me at 2:40 on Thursday and left a message saying that particular stylist wasn’t going to be working but another stylist was available at 4:30 and 5. I called back when I was able, 20 minutes later at 3pm. After being hung up on once and then given the run around on the second call, I was told that I was “too slow, those have already been given away.” I asked when they would be cutting my kid’s hair only to be told “Our next available isn’t until Wednesday.” I don’t appreciate making an appt and it being canceled without a true attempt to accommodate me...especially when there was another available appt at the same time I had booked.

This place is great! We went there for the first time today as a walk-in. We were quoted 30-40 minutes, and only waited about 15 minutes. They are quick and efficient, having a TV for the kids to watch shows as they get their hair done. Additionally, the pricing you cant beat. A cut and wash was only $22, in comparison to another place we checked out that quoted us $29. We will definitely be making Sharkeys our go-to place, thats affordable and has friendly staff. Thank you for a great experience.

My son has had several hair cuts at the Alamo Ranch location since we moved to the area last summer. He’s 4 and loves going. The stylist are very kind and gentle with him. We have never waited long and the gentleman we usually see at the front let’s me know if they are running a little behind. My son loves the atmosphere and I love the great value.

Awesome! Fast and Amazing

Our experience has always been wonderful until today because of an employee who was very rude to us. The employee is pregnant and she proceeded to use her pregnancy as an excuse for her rudeness. I understand not feeling well while going through this beautiful experience but she may need to take a leave of absence if she keeps up her rudeness. This is after all a customer service based business. We pay good money for the experience and atmosphere of having a fun friendly experience for the kids while getting a haircut. I have been here a few times and Nancy is always a delight and very professional as is the manager. Im not expecting a red carpet treatment just some basic kindness like, Welcome. Good morning. Hello, come inside, its cold out. This bad experience wont prevent me from coming in the future but this is just a warning.

Went for the first time and it will be the last. I made a appointment online and scheduled with Julia. I arrived and was not seen by Julia for whom knows what reason. I told the stylist I wanted a v cut in my daughters hair and showed her the length. She cut it too short and definitely did not know what the v cut was. When I asked her about it she blamed my daughter for leaning and gave me a list of excuses. She didnt speak to me or her until we were finished. I told the other stylist how upset we were with my daughters hair and although she fixed it this is not a establishment I would recommend or consider kid friendly at all

Nancy was an absolute doll! She had so much patience with my 18 month old, getting his first haircut. She put cartoons on for him, gave him lollipops, played with a little hand Clapper, she did whatever she needed to do to keep him calm, and content. I made my appointment online after business hours the night before, and they were able to pull up my reservation, no problem, and took care of us right away. It was quick, my baby looks cute, and I will go back to Nancy for all of his future haircuts. Highly recommend!!

Alma is the best. My son has autism and she was very understanding and patient. She made his haircut super easy and quick. Best way to get the haircut your wanting for your babies is always with an appointment that can be scheduled online. Love sharkeys.

If I could give this place 10 stars I would! The women who cut my sons hair was phenomenal! My son isn’t always the easiest little guy to work with but she made me feel comfortable and not so nervous as I always feel at a regular barbershop. My sons only 1 so haircuts have become a thing now.. he can’t handle regular shops and the regular shops can’t handle my son, due to him screaming so loud. But this place was AMAZING even when my son was screaming bloody murder. I truly was scared but this was a great experience, great price, great everything. I loved the TV for the baby’s, the cars. Just everything! 💗 and also my sons hair came out PERFECT! I honestly recommend this shop! 💞

I took my 15 month old to get his hair cut (as a walk in) and the service I revived was amazing! Lily was so patient and compassionate with him. They played his choice of a Netflix movie. Took my 17 month old son to get his first haircut today with Alma and omg she did such an amazing job! I was so nervous because my son hates being held down and touched, he moves so much but she was patient with him! It came out perfect, just like I imagined and wanted for him! Did great on his haircut. Only thing, it took an hour for her to cut his hair. I understand it was going to take a long time becuase kids move and she wanted it to be perfect, but boy was it a long time.

It was the bittersweet moment for our first haircut! My little boy is All Boy, he doesnt sit still for anything, so I was hesitant this was not going to be a good day for any of us . But, Olga did an amazing job! My son wasnt happy during the process at all but she was very patient and understanding. Great place for any age!

Booked appointment online, and they “couldn’t find appointment”.Had Lilia today, cut was not worth the $22 plus tip. Need to have someone else fix it.First time was great with Olga, second was okay, third time was terrible. Left my diaper bag behind on accident, came back just to have another customer try and say it was hers. Described everything in the bag, and then they gave it back. Had I not come in time they would have let all my personal belongings plus my child’s, go with that stranger.

I’ve given this place many chances because it’s close and conveniently located for me. I’ve had a few bad experiences or complaints but the two worst experiences I’ve had are 1. Them turning me away for the ear piercing appointment I made for my daughter because they didn’t have the staff available and 2. They tried to turn me away because they didn’t have record of the appointment I DID have record of myself. Someone even called me the same day to let me know the stylist I requested called in sick but someone else can do my sons cut. The manager was rude and said I can wait and they’ll “try to fit me in” Sorry I can drive a little further and pay $25 for a kids cut somewhere else.Edit : I would like to add the person who ended up taking my sons cut was a good sport. I could tell she was supposed to leave but got stuck with us. If my son didn’t have a school performance I would have left too. My sons haircut wasn’t great, spots are uneven but grateful she was nice to him. Fastest cut we’ve ever experienced but I guess I should be grateful they “fit us in”

My daughter with super long,thick,curly hair got a haircut from Nancy and she did an AMAZING job, then she gave her a really cute side braid and my daughter walked out of there feeling like a million bucks!! The staff was super nice and respectful. An overall great experience!

Price is set per child experience was Amazing. Every customer during our first visit was sat down and ready to get a cut. My child is always problematic and in need of me and my husband for assistance but here at sharkys we were able to sit and watch the hair dresser cut his hair in less time and more a accuracy then we have in other places. Me and my husband are definitely satisfied and will be returning.

We got my son’s first haircut here because I’m really picky when it comes to haircut places for him since he is a toddler. Our first experience was so great! The lady who did his hair was very sweet, very patient since he was scared and moving around. Every since, we’ve been coming and will continue to get his haircut here.

My son went here from the time he was 18 months old until we moved away when he was almost 4 1/2. Miss Julia Rodriguez was absolutely AMAZING! He saw her every two weeks and we would not see anyone els . We are truly sad we couldnt take her with us.Miss Julias employees are kind, courteous and ready to help. She does an amazing job running her shop. We will be stopping in for a cut whenever we travel through San Antonio.

My toddler had a 4pm appt with any stylist that was booked online and confirmed via phone prior to his arrival. My husband waited over 40 minutes because the stylist they assigned was running behind. What is the point of booking an appointment if you have to wait almost an hour? After speaking to the Manager Julia, I was still unimpressed by the lack of concern for people who take the time to book an appointment. She did mention Alamo Ranch is the busiest Sharkeys location. Busy or not, manage appointments appropriately. I dont recommend Alamo Ranch by any means.

I hesitate to post this review due to the fact that we’ve had some great experiences at Sharkey’s but our final visit to this location has prompted me for this review.My son is Autistic and hair cuts aren’t an enjoyable experience for anybody, most of all my son. The other times we’ve been there we have avoided one stylist named Teresa. She has horrible customer service and is generally rude.Today though she had cut my sons hair and it was by far one of the WORST experiences we have had in YEARS. Teresa was rude, short and used an awful tone when speaking to my 6 year old with Autism. We mentioned to her before the hair cut that he has a hard time with these but is getting better. My wife had to ask her to please use a nicer tone to my son, and of course instead of taking the (very gentle) feedback she responds with “I’m sorry you feel that way”. Mind you my son is 6 and this is a hair salon that is called “CUTS FOR KIDS”.Hopefully the Sharkey’s management sees this and handles this issue internally. Some senitivity training and a reminder that she is working with children. Until then, if you have any children with special needs please do not let Teresa cut their hair, it is going to be an awful experience for you and your child.

The first time I brought my daughter here, Jennifer thinned out her hair without telling me. I dont think a stylist should do anything to your hair without telling you. Months later, in a time crunch, I brought my daughter here again for a bang trim. The owner cut her hair and when she was done, asked me how I liked it. It was obviously crooked, so I asked her to fix it in certain places. She did, but it was still obviously crooked. She would stop, then ask me if it was OK. This cycle repeated itself about 4 times. She is the stylist, not me. If she cant tell the hair is crooked, then why is she cutting hair? Why is she making me tell her - she is supposed to be able to tell on her own, right? Lazy.

We got our sons 1st haircut there they were so sweet kind and patient. And very understanding of this sappy mom who cries at everything.

I was extremely disappointed that my son & grandson had appts for 415 & 445. A couple had their sons hair cut & then the father decided he also wanted a haircut. They should have waited until the ppl w/ appts were done first. Thats why we make appts. Kinda defeats the purpose!!!

This place really needs new management and replace whoever you have in the front . I scheduled my sons appointment online 3/12 for a specific time received a text to confirm the appointment last night but for a DIFFERENT time ! So when I called to make sure what happened and that I still had the appointment they couldn’t find my son in the schedule the kept asking me if I scheduled for a different location and different name I kept telling them I had the email confirmation in hand and even read it to her. .. I Understand that these things happen but they didn’t even try to accommodate for today one girl even told me “well I don’t know what happened I don’t know what to tell you” ! Poor customer service just rude .if you don’t like your job get a new one !!!!!! Never going back and telling whoever I can to do same. and the manager Julia I think that’s her name! SHOULD NOT BE WORKING WTH KIDS ! PERIOD! She cut my son’s hair last time and was very ugly with him you could tell she doesn’t like kids. But I wanted to go and give it another shot because the girls who cut my son’s hair before did a good job with him. After this I will never be back ! Replace management and front staff!!!!!

Just wanted to give a big thanks to Julia. We got there at 12 with no appt so we knew it was going to be a while. She ended up helping all 3 of my kids and was very patient with each of them. I definitely recommend her. Will be going back and setting appt first.

This place is pretty great. The seats are power wheels, they have Netflix for the young kids. They have video games for the older kids. My daughter loves coming here

Came to this location didn’t wait long and it was a Sunday. My sons hair cut came out great! The girl did a great job! So I decided to go to the new location Off 3009. That lady completely butchered my sons hair it came out awful Im forced to let it grow out!

Had an appointment today with Star at 12. I checked in and was told someone would be with me shortly. 20 mins pasted and I asked about my appointment... and I was told she was just running late. After 12:35 I heard them discussing that there was no one to cut my kids hair and no one had the decency to tell me anything. I told them I was leaving and left. What a waist of my time... and my poor kids who were getting so restless from waiting so long. Don’t go here...

Im so upset Ive been coming to this location for 5 years so I made my appointment at 12:30 got there at 12:37 so they said they cant get me thats the rules but they can as a walk inn like really Ive had my appointment before like at 12 and sometimes they dont get me till 20 minutes later do I complain no I just wish they could of handled it differently not once have I had a problem ....nexts time I go I will be there earlier and I hope they get me right at the appointment time with no excuses like they are running behind because I get it (things do happen) but I just wish the receptionist would of been more understanding..

Nancy is the best. I love how she took her time and made conversation with us. Its very rare to find someone like her that acrually loves what they do and it potrays in their work. we will be coming back for sure when im ready for my babies first haircut😅

Very clean environment, friendly staff, and I love how they get a balloon after their visit! You must make an appointment online though because they get booked really fast.

We went in to get a haircut for our three kids and the stylist had just finished with a haitcut and informed us that she couldnt work us in. She said that was because they were full on appointments although no one else was in the store. These people are too lazy to cut hair if its an hour away from closing time. I have never seen a business throw away money like that ever. Going forward I will not bring my three kids back to this place, so I hope you as a business like not having any customers because at that rate you will go out of business soon.

Love this place!

Unlike most kids haircut shops, this location does not have a play area for children. They have a lot of toys - but theyre for purchase. This was very disappointing as most places weve been in San Antonio have train sets and/or lego stations.We went at a bad time for walk ins - Saturday a little before 10. They were unable to give us a good estimate on wait time. We had to leave after about 40 min because my almost 2 year old was out of patience.

My childs haircut came out nice .On the website its says 1st time comes with bookmark, balloon and more but doesnt. The seat could have been cleaned more i think i know kids are messy but for sanitary reasons and hair. Also the clippers she used were dirty had old hair they irritated my sons neck with a few red bumps . I booked online and i got a email. Went in on my appointment day they told me my appointment was a different time which was 30 min later. Didnt like that, we were all ready and set around the time i was told. The lady was nice and patient with my child . They do have small tvs which help and small things to keep them busy. I was also interested in the rewards that was mentioned online but didnt get asked to join. Id liked to! Was overall an okaay place. Cute
