Workers are professionally accommodating. Also, they always make any alteration needs right and on time. Highly recommend.
Dry Cleaning and Laundry, impeccable detail. Excellent alterations, with special attention to Military personnel. Professional operation.
If you go here, please make sure they write everything down that you need done and the way you want it done. Be specific, cover your A.When my husband picked up his ACU top, he saw that they had sewn on two of his badges in the incorrect order/not the order he specifically told them to be sewn on. They had the audacity to say that there would be a re-sew fee…for something that they messed up, using the excuse that “it wasn’t written down”. How is it the customers fault that the staff didn’t write down the order, how would a customer know that it’s a requirement for the shop if they aren’t told this. This incident occurred after spending nearly $500 between AGSU alterations/dry cleaning and ACU sew ons for the hot weathers. This is the first location in 14 years we’ve ever gone to that charges you for their mistakes. Extremely disappointed as this is a widely recommended location.
Super friendly and more than willing to help out! Had a great experience here. Great work and quick.
This place has experts!! I got my clothes altered and dry cleaned and they fit perfectly and looked better than if I had bought them new. This was after I expedited my order. 10/10 would recommend
I usually go to Kims for cleaning/alterations of my ASUs, and she always does a phenomenal job. I am getting married in a few months, and decided I wanted to wear my mothers wedding gown. The dress was made in the 80s, however, and needed....a bit of an update. I brought it to Ms. Kim and she absolutely transformed the dress, making sure over multiple appointments that it was a perfect fit. I am so thrilled with the transformation and how she was able to maintain the integrity and beauty of my mothers dress (while still making sure that it didnt scream 1980); she is an incredibly talented seamstress and I would recommend her skills and business to anyone needing alterations.
I took a uniform top and a PC here to get ranks/name tapes sewn on. The staff were really friendly, they got the job done in just a few days, prices were reasonable, and the job was done well! I’ll definitely be back here for my uniform needs while at Fort Sam!
I came to this alteration shop because I was visiting San Antonio for the weekend, and I had a brand new top that already had my Army tab sewed on. when I got here they told me that the Army tab I had was not regulation, I get it, it was a old font and darker than the thin lettered tabs that he wanted to put on my top. But again this was the tab that they sold at the clothing and sale shop on base at fort hood. Now if he didnt have that same lettering that was fine and thats what I assumed, but he charged me to cut off the US Army tab and put on one that he said was regulation and my name tab, which was really the one reason I came in there to buy... one name tab. All I want to do was buy one name tab and go. I ended up buying two name tabs and his expertise on whats regulated and whats not. instead of just understanding that the tab I had on my top is worn by 50% if not 80% of everybody in the damn organization, and all you had to do was just give me a tab that match that one that I already had. My personal opinion... no one elses, I wont go here again.
This is the best location in San Antonio to get your alterations done for your uniforms. Theyll easily work with you regarding your schedule and do extremely high quality work. I would highly recommend anyone needing uniform alteration to go to them to get it done.Everything Ive had done here has been completed in a fast and timely manner while still maintaining a high degree of quality. Ill only go to Kims to get any alterations done I need when Im in San Antonio.
Had pants shortened/hemmed. Good quality, quick turnaround. Highly recommend.
Omg! Just PCS’d here and my house is a mess with boxes. Couldn’t find my name tapes. Literally came in and asked for one made as soon as possible. They made it on the spot. I highly recommend.
Love this place. They are always accommodating and want the SM to look their best. Highly recommended.
Too expensive $30 to hem pants $25 to take in a seam I would get the basics done there if I have to but nothing else.
Good price and fast service, if you think how many costumers they have, turn around for alterations, cleanning and pressing around 1 week.
Converting my ASU jacket from enlisted to officer cost $300 with minimal alterations and even worse is that I purchased a pair of ASU pants from Kim’s for $65 (that she measured and also made me pay $20 for alterations on). I never received these pants and when I called later to ask about them their was never a response. All in all I paid over $400 for essentially jacket alterations because I provided the branch insignia, arm piping, shoulder boards and medals/name plate. Would not recommend.
This place is outstanding! Great choice for all services including alteration and sewing for offical uniforms.
One of the best uniform alterations shops. Professional and polite. Slightly expensive, but you pay for what you get. Definitely will recommend this place and it will be my permanent shop until I PCS from here.Thank you Kim
I came in with a routine cleaning, but got notified that I needed it much earlier than I originally told them. They were fantastic and got me what I needed within an almost unreasonable time. Kudos for being extra polite while doing so!
Very good customer service and great work. Thanks for the hard work you do, and thanks to make sure soldiers look good
I cannot recommend these great people enough! Service was fast, and they went above and beyond with taking care of everything. Seriously, they are the best! I will only ever go here. They certainly won me over.
Used Kim’s back in the 1990’s when they had lots of competition. They have outlasted all of their competitors for a reason. I never use on post tailoring and in San Antonio I take any uniform (Army and son’s BSA), sports jackets and pants to Kim’s. Support your local tailor shops, this is a lost skill. Thanks for the help over the years!
I tell all of my fellow students to take their uniform items there. They are friendly and fast. I have not yet compared the prices to the on-base alteration shop, which is why I cant give a full 5 stars... but they are quite perfect!
Great customer service
I paid much less than I do at the military base to get my uniforms cleaned! The service was also much quicker. On the base it usually takes a week for my uniforms to be cleaned, and at Kims, it only took 24 hours! The staff is very friendly. Great service, quick turnaround, and great prices will keep me coming back! Thank you!
I took a uniform top to get my name tape made and put on my uniform and head gear, when I went to pick it up I was very disappointed with the quality of the stitching the letters were not all aligned and not as thick/bold as others make them. I also got treated as if I was getting my service for free the lady was talking to me as if she was doing me a favor not as a paying customer. I am sick of these places treating soldiers as if they are their boses. By the way I paid 32$ for getting a 1x u.s army, 2x name tape, and rank and getting them put on my uniform which is too expensive in my opinion. Just do your self a favor and use the post clothing sales similar quality and better treatment.
Crooks! I paid over $100 to have my dress jacket tailored here and they didnt actually tailor anything. When I brought it back to complain they looked at the stitching and told me it wasnt their work. So what did I pay for?? I know its convenient to Ft. Sam but if you choose to take your business here check everything VERY CAREFULLY. There are much more honest places in town.
My husband picked up my dress. It is a $300 dress, dry clean only. It looks like you threw it into a washing mashing. You will be hearing from me tomorrow.
Did my name tags in one day before I had to go on orders. Such a life saver!! Love this place
I scheduled a fitting almost a week in advance to have alterations done to one formal dress and cleaning and alterations done to my wedding dress and when I showed up Kim was not there and I was informed she was stuck in traffic by the man at the counter and would be there soon. Long story short, an HOUR later she finally arrived and the first thing she said to me was you shouldve made an appointment (rude much?) I informed her I had scheduled an appt. nearly a week ago with a gentleman over the phone for today at 10:00 a.m. to which the gentleman behind the counter confirmed. Not a good sign when the owner of an establishment cant show up on time and doesnt value her customers. She had another employee do the fitting so I am unsure why I was kept waiting. Fast forward to scheduling a fitting to do alterations for my wedding dress...I called multiple times and our schedules just werent matching up then I found out she would be there on a Saturday. After calling twice that day to pin point a time that she would be there I headed over, mind you a 30 minute drive to be told when I arrived that she didnt have time for me and she is just too busy clearly the nearly $300 alteration I was going to have done was not important and she holds her time more valuable than any of her customers. After leaving and thinking about how horribly rude Kim was I didnt want her to even touch my dress. I went back to simply pick up my dress and pay for the cleaning and would get the alterations elsewhere. When I told the gentleman behind the counter why I didnt want the alterations he got argumentative to the point I had to tell him not to argue with me. Moral of the story, dont waste your time or money on a place of business that doesnt value its customers or their time. STAY AWAY from this horrible excuse of a business!!!
Yeah this place has a quick turnaround, but not once have I picked up my uniform and there wasn’t some sort of issue with it. I spent $90 to have it done by a certain time, just to wait even longer so they can fix the problem.
Great customer service and work.
Peter went above and beyond my expectations. Was in a hurry to fix a pant leg for the suit I was wearing to a funeral and he had me in and out in less than 5 minutes and did a very quality job.
Kims has always been a quality business. Ms Kim and her husband take great pride in their service and great care of their customers. The work is always of good quality and you know you will look sharp when theyre done. Alterations or drycleaning theyll keep you looking your best.
Never had a bad experience. Even when something outside their control happens, I was still taken care. I like the fact that Kims doesnt treat me like another possible profit, but a person. I recommend Kims to all my friends, family, and students.
Ive used this place for my military uniforms and they did an excellent job tailoring and dry cleaning. They also tailored a bridesmaid gown for me and that turned out great. Ive been going to them for five years and have never had issues. The people who work there are friendly and professional.
I have used Kims for 10 years now. While I will say that the service is not especially quick, they do quality work that is worth waiting for. I have had alterations made, patches sown on, multiple uniforms and special event gowns dry cleaned by this team and everything has always turned out perfect. Yes, if you are in a hurry this place is not an ideal stop, but if you have time you will definitely get what you pay for.
Had my kids Young Marine uniforms done here. The alterations were great, especially since they had to basically sew my son an entirely new pair of pants because the clothing company we ordered from screwed up the order and there was no way to reorder in time.If need alterations or patches, ranks, etc. done on military uniforms, I couldnt recommend this place more highly!
Fast service, reasonable prices, and they do good work. They also have some rank that the Fort Sam Clothing and Sales frequently runs out of.
Highly recommend Kims alterations to everyone. They are highly accommodating, quick, and thorough! They truly care about their customers and I will continue my business with them!
Not transparent on PRICING.I went to Kims shop to inquire about getting my ASUs dry cleaned and pressed. Initially, the price was GREAT. Only $10.50 for that service. I was a potentially happy customer. But, I asked the lady, (I believe the wife of Kim), if and how much would they charge to make a few tailored adjustments to my ASU top (DA photo in a week). The lady at first was real nice and told me my ASUs needed alot of work. That my ASUs were pretty much out of regs because the stitching on the sleeves were wrong, and the buttons were misaligned. She also told me my pants needed to be tailored since they were too tight and didnt fit properly. So, suspectively naive I thought that Ms Kim was going to do me a favor by catching all the defects on my ASUs, and fix them at a reasonable price. Lo and behold, she starts writing on an ineligible ledger all the corrections and adjustments she will make to my top and bottom. And the final price for everything was $222.85Crazy I thought. I went there just for the dry clean and press, which was valued at a great price I assume, but instantly was at a lost of words when the tailored work would be over 200.00Needless to say, I told the wife and husband, no thank you. I will travel around town and find someone who could do those small alterations for a fifth of the price. They say they are military friendly and understand the service men/ woman needs, but I think they get buy on Soldiers with that sad old script and end up charging Soldiers much much more than fair pricing.
I tried to give them a chance despite the reviews. Needless to say I just took a loss just like everyone else. Do not order name tapes or anything for that matter from this f’d up business.
This place is expensive in terms of alterations! Not sure why because the quality doesn’t match the price. I dropped my uniform off just to pick it up a week later(when it supposedly would have been ready) and it looked the same, as UNTOUCHED! They literally fixed it on the spot as I sat and waited! I’ll be going elsewhere next time!
Excellent. Take your stuff there.
Very knowledgeable about military, they go out of their way, to help,
Ive never been done wrong by Kims. I had an on post business fail me (incorrect # of name tapes made) today and Kims was there to rescue me. They were able to help me on the spot and square me away for a high visibility event tomorrow. Thank You!
Fast and reliable service. They were able to convert my ASU jacket in a timely manner. I was pleased with the work that was done. Keep up the great work Kim Family!
Most friendly and helpful people ever. I was PCS to Ft Bliss. I really miss them. Kims id the best.
I have used Kims off and on (when here at Ft Sam) for 22 years. I havegeard if issues and experienced a few minor ones. There service is consistently good, friendly and fast when needed. The prices are a bit high overall, but still worth the cost (you can find just as good for cheaper, but nowhere near as clise to post). They consistently do extra for the Service Members.
I walked in and was greeted professionally! The gentleman made sure my jacket was perfect! Been going herr off and on for over 8 years. Never disappointed with their work!
Your clothing will always be on time. And it you have a problem, they fix it right away.Recommended!!!!
Never heard someone tell two SENIOR NCOs how wrong their uniform was .., no there wasnt issues .. Who honestly expects to be corrected at an off post alteration shop... So glad I decided to take my business on post.., much cheaper and pleasant to deal with... Not saying Kims alteration is a terrible place because we all have bad days but will not recommend any of my soldiers go there .. So in closing of you want some guy to talk to you like an ignorant person then this is your place !
Not only are they EXTREMELY OVER PRICED!! I had a uniform dropped off here and it was not ready at the time of pick up. The store employee said that it got misplaced with a different batch of clothes and that I could pick it up the next day. ###OVER PRICED AND UNRELIABLE!!! This place has no standard pricing, so basically you dont know if youre being charged more than the next person... PRICING SEEMS TO GO BY WHATEVER EMPLOYEE YOU GET AND THE MOOD IN WHICH HE OR SHE IS IN ON THAT PARTICULAR DAY. **Update: I finally got my uniform, not only was it stained but also had incorrect creasing.
They used to be good however after three items not done after a week on three separate occasions, I demanded a discount on delayed work. Main gentleman that works there gave me the `your crazy look. Dont waste your time at this place. They do not get work done on schedule and many items they have sewn for me need re-sewing. Bad place.
What happened to Kims???!! It used to be such a great place with warm welcomes and respect for one another. The lady now at the register doesn’t have “be right with you” in her vocabulary. No geeetings and gets defensive when other accommodations are are trying to be made. Instead of working with customers, it’s somehow my fault she can’t get my uniform from the back in 45 minutes.
The best!!! I ordered a ribbon rack on line and it came in the mail put together over wrong. I asked the gentleman here if he would help me, he did at no charge. My inspection was the next day and he really saved me. Maybe my fault maybe not, but they helped at no extra charge. As for the ASU attention quality....it is top notch. The posts below are stupid.
Weve been going here for 2 years to dry clean and alter our clothing. They always do a great job and our orders are always done on time.
They did a good job with the sewing they did for me and even offer same day service for more urgent needs.
Very nice place to work in the owners theyre very nice people
They did an excellent job in dry cleaning my uniform and gown.
They are really good, got red wine out of a white dress and they are very friendly
Got promoted and was upgrading ranks$7.50 for 2x sewing rank on ocp top; rank provided$18.00 for 2sleeves on asu jacket; rank provided$9.00 for name and rank sewn onto PC; rank and name providedAsked if it could be done now. Lady said 20% extra. Then tried to tell me it would be done in the afternoon...🤔 On top of that they thought they were keeping my old ranks and proceeded to give me attitude when i asked for them back; so i could give to my soldier.Needless to say i will not be coming back here...ill wait longer for clothing and sales
They do good work. Not perfect. But still better than most...
Went on base to get rank sewn on a new cover, $6+, 3 day turn around. Came to Kims to get it sewn on, $4 and had my cover in 5 minutes. Will always use Kims for my uniform alterations
Brought my jacket and ribbons for it to be set up two weeks before I need it to Kims. They call me and tell me they cant do it because they dont have my ribbons. I go back and forth with them telling them I did bring it to them. Then they find it underneath their counter in the original plastic bag I put it in. Still charged me for it even though theyve had my jacket for almost 2 weeks and I almost bought new ribbons. Then i go and do a simple dry cleaning drop, ...they lose my pants. Instead of reimbursing me they say they have spare pants and theyll tailor. I go and get fitted. Im a size 4 short and they give me a 10 regular. The woman barely takes a minute to pin it up and fit it to me and she thinks shes good to go. I tell her its too loose and too low. We go back forth because apparently she knows the reg better than me and knows how my pants should fit on me better than me. We go back and forth for 10 minutes and I was about to walk out until her husband steps in. i get my pants but bc it was so loose she had to sew the pockets closed. for some reason during this whole situation the husband likws to point out that theyve served generals and SGMs. Doesnt mean much when you cant take care of a simple dry cleaning for a regualar old joe. fast forward, Husband goes to get his rank sewn on to his jacket and kims say that they have one that he can pay for. pays for it and then gets it back to see that the gold on the rank is slightly faded, pays for it and leaves bc fk it. yea, id like to say that ill only go to kims when im desperate and make sure to take pictures of the items i drop off. youre better off going to a cleaners on broadway.
Went in at noon and asked for my stripes to be done once I got off work. The lady originally put down 6:45pm and then afterwards told me theyd be done at 5:30 (once I got off work). I showed up at 5:30 and they were pretty dramatic on how early I was. Not a big deal.. I only had one jacket to put stripes on and waited an extra half hour. Im giving them a poor rating because who charges $19 to have one set of stripes put on?? Most expensive alterations place Ive ever been to and customer service was subpar.
I have been going to Kims for a few years. They do a great job thanks for making me look good.
If you buy a patch for your uniform they force you to do the sewing there especially if that uniform is no longer sold at clothing sales which I think is like extortion
Nothing. This place is horrible and dishonest. I asked how long they normally keep clothes and the their young incompetent cashier told me for months. So when I went back to retrieve my items, I was told by the owner that they did not find them yet. I was also told that the ocie was holding them up and that he had not had a chance to look for my items. I am curious did you look for them or is ocie holding you up. Do not go here. Their prices are two high. My friend paid 80 dollars to get his stuff sewn on his dress blue uniform. Thieving money grubbing scumbags, that is what these people are. Why hasnt the military put this place on the prohibited places for Soldiers to do business with. Save your money do everything in advance and get everything done on post. Not worth it, and they are thieves. To add to this mockery, you are a business threatening Soldiers with liability when you cant find my clothes. You gave me half my items because someone in your shop stole my clothes. You know I gave you more than one receipt for my clothes. But you claim that you are a veteran who supports the Soldiers. If so, why do not charge so much. You are one of those businesses that prey on the Soldier and their need for express service on their uniforms, almost worst than those pay day loan individuals. I know what I turned into u but you like some of these other Texan capitalistic leeches acting like business owners want to act like Im lying. I gave you gave you four tickets .
Had buttons sewn on my ASU. I noticed the top button was crooked when I went to pick it up so I had them fix it right there. Then I went to get my DA photo done when I noticed the third button was falling off. In addition, all of the buttons were sewn on too close to the edge of the jacket so that my white shirt was showing through the button holes. I ended up having to redo all of the buttons.
So far, so good. Lots of people coming and going at this location, Im not used to a busy dry cleaners, but its been quick and drama free so far.
A bit on a pricey side, but the quality of work is good.
Good cleaners and alterations locally owned caters to the military!!
Great customer service and awesome work.
The only place to go for alterations around Ft. Sam.
This is the spot to go to for military uniforms, a little slow and sometimes pricey, but most locations are
Very helpful staff
Fast service
