Very professional and honest. These guys are the greatest.
What a joke this place is. Put me through a crazy long interview process. Flew me down to San Angelo for the final interview. Interview went well but I heard through the grapevine that they passed on me because they didn’t think I was passionate about I.T. If I wasn’t passionate about I.T. then why did I just go through this interview process, take an entire day to fly down to San Angelo just to turn around and fly right back home the same day? Laughable. Just wow, their loss. I would’ve been one of their best employees but thankfully they don’t know really good talent when it’s sitting in front of them because I landed a great job that CalTech can’t compete with. My advice to future prospects...DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME!!!
Step 1: Phone Screening, Basic questions about your interest.Step 2: Phone Interview, Basic interview questions, generic.Step 3: 1on1 interview in Dallas because that is where the position was located that I was interviewing for.Step 4: Drive to San Angelo (4-hour drive) for an interview against 3 people who ask me the same questions that I have already answered.Issues:Obviously, I did well on my interviews leading to the San Angelo interview. They paid my mileage and a hotel room because the interview was scheduled at 8:30am. On my way back home from the interview (4-hour drive), I received a phone call from Jenny (HR Director) offering me the position and informing me that they cannot proceed with my hire until I submit a background and credit check. Once I got home I immediately submitted the background and credit check authorization. The next day I received a very generic email stating that I was not accepted for the position. Obviously, I was confused because the position was offered to me before the background and credit check. I dont have any issues with my background, so I know that wasnt the issue. During the phone screening, I was asked if a credit check would be an issue and I explained to Colin (CalTech recruiter) that my credit wasnt that great. He asked me if I had any major debts and I explained that I did not and that I had been repairing my credit for about 5 years now. He then told me it shouldnt be an issue. After I received the incredibly generic email stating I did not get the position, I emailed Jenny and asked for a reason as to why. I never received a response... I waited 4 days and no response from Colin or Jenny. I then called Jenny and my call went right to VM, I believe she blocked my number. I left a very polite message asking for the reason as to why I didnt get the position. A few hours later, I received another generic email from Jenny stating that CalTechs policy states they cannot tell me why I was not chosen for the position.I feel that Im entitled to a reason. I took 2 days of PTO for interviewing for a position that seemed to be promising. After leaving the interview, I was led to believe the position was mine. With that, I believe its only fair to offer a reason for denial.
A great business built by two Angelo State Univeristy alumni.
