I am seeking help since the State of Utah VA nor will my VSO, return my phone calls or e-mails. I do not know who to turn to!I am officially retired from the Active Duty Army (after 20 years) as of 01NOV2020. According to the VA website for benefits during discharge, I am “supposed” to be notified of my rating with my VA disability claim within 30 days and start possibly receiving my awarded disability as soon as a month after my retirement date.As with everything that has gone on in 2020, this has not been the case and it seems like the Department of Veterans Affairs is working against me. I started the process in MAY2020 and turned in my required medical proof documentation in JUN2020 (I have snapshots of e-mails and e-mail correspondence showing my VSO had all of my necessary medical documentation).Every time I make a call to the VA to check on the status of my claim I am given the run around and most recently was told that my medical proof documentation was not turned in until SEP2020 which put me outside of the window for benefits during discharge claims! Due to this egregious error my claim packet is now shuffled to the back of the pile and it could possibly take another 6 months for the VA to start, work on, or finish my claim process. At this point I am living in my mother’s basement. I am a 41 year old Army Infantry veteran and I have a wife and two younger daughters that I have to provide for. I did start a job recently, but my home loan agent has informed me that without the VA disability rating I cannot move forward with a VA home loan.I personally met all the VA required timelines and required paperwork for benefits during discharge. Even though someone else within the VA made a mistake or did not do their job the VA has told me that nothing can be done with my claim because my medical documentation wasn’t turned in on time. My assigned VSO does not return my phone calls or e-mail correspondence. I believe she forgot about my claim and did not turn the necessary paper work in time in accordance with the VA timeline to grant benefits during discharge. And now the State of Utah VA will not return my phone calls either.I need help. I am asking for help!

Every time I have reached out for help this organization will fake like they are helping me. I’ve been disappointed in their assistance and now I get why. I thought maybe it was because companies didn’t reach out to them and ask the VA to staff their companies with Veterans’s. Now that I’m looking for Veteran to employe the VA has put up a system that makes it difficult to communicate with them. To my Brothers and Sisters please know companies are looking for you to work with them. It just happens that the VA isn’t the best place to give you that connection.
