Got there, door was locked. When the door was opened, it was as though I was a burden. I had to laugh because before I even showed what needed work I was told I can’t do this. One of the weirder customer experiences I’ve ever had.

I just took in my dress for my sons wedding. I dont have much time before the wedding, so I was a bit frantic! The lady there, probably the owner, stopped everything she was doing, had me try on my dress for the alteration, and will have it done in plenty of time!!! So impressed with her and I cant thank her enough!!!!!!!

When working on a deadline, Malaka completed the alteration with exquisite accuracy and was prepared to work extra hours to meet my deadline. She accepted criticism cheerfully and used it as a productive tool to improve her abilities. I came in with specific instructions about a dress that needed alteration for my wife, and she followed those instructions to the letter. She has a sweet and nice personality. After having seen the final results of the dress, I highly recommend her services to anyone in need of alteration!

Im ok with rude as long as you get the job done and youre honest when conducting business. The tailor here quoted me $55 to take off 2 from a $16 dress (just to give you guys an idea of how much she charges, not complaining about it), and then when I went to pick it up, she said she needed to charge me more if I use my credit card. I know that is not abnormal, but businesses who do that will tell you upfront when they quote you (before you agree to their service) and/or post a sign that is visible to the customers so we are aware of the extra charge. She did neither. So, I was pretty upset when she told me after the fact. I told her that she cant just say that to customers right before theyre about to pay without any warning. I said she never told me she would do that when she quoted me and that there was no sign in her store to indicate such. She proceeded to grab a sticky note posted on her side of the register (not visible to the customers) and pointed out how much she has to pay in credit card fees (there was some math scribbled on the note), and for some reason she felt that that justified everything. It was the principle of not being honest with customers that really made me upset and her not owning up to her mistake. That just doesnt make for good business. So, just a fair warning to anyone considering her for your needs. Otherwise, she did get the job done in the stated amount of time but I personally would not visit her again for the dishonesty.

I came to Salt Lake City from San Francisco for my cousins wedding. I went to Malaka a week before the wedding to have my suit altered and not only did she finish the job before the deadline, she did an absolutely amazing job. Her prices were so low that I insisted on paying her extra. Amazing women; even more amazing work!

I went in asking for a quote to get the bottom of my dress taken up a couple inches (I wasn’t quite ready to purchase just yet.) I was super polite and respectful when she quoted me 75$ (which I thought was a little steep for the job). I told her thank you and I’d think about it and come back. She proceeded to get really rude and defensive & told me “if you come back I don’t wanna do it.” Then basically kicked me out of the shop. I think it was really unprofessional and honestly kinda rude.

I have been coming here for 5 years. I teach a few dance theatre classes, so I am always in need of alterations Malaka is by far the best seamstress I have come across. She is always ready to help and dedicates herself to her work, which is reflected in her work.

She does a very professional job. Very quick turn around. The price is very reasonable.

The woman who runs this place is a sweetheart. Went here to tailor a suit for prom last minute and finished it very quickly. Loved her work! Highly recommended!

I called to check on the price for pants alteration. The one who answered the phone was very rude. That gave me the idea of how I am going to be treated when I go there. Beware..
