Jessie is the best! Besides providing my friend and I with a great haircut Jessie is friendly, and he has always been interested in us as - well - as individuals. He is easy to talk to. First time there and charged me nearly twice as much for having grown out hair. Umm, thats why I needed a haircut -- sorry for waiting longer during a pandemic - could have at least informed me ahead of time. Seemed a little fishy, as they highly advertise their price. And that would have been ok if the haircut was good, but it wasnt. Wont be returning.

A great talented barber I got to know him and his life story became friends.I got zero fade haircut made me feel like million dollar wroth. Ive used this barber shop for years. Their haircuts were just fine until the older barbers retired. Now the whole thing is just a joke. I went in today to get my haircut trimmed to in off the entire surface. When I made this statement to the barber, he said, do you know how long that will take? When I repeated and emphasized that that was what I wanted, he said that he would take it down. He then proceeded to cut my hair on the sides with a number 4 trimmer. That was the size of half an inch, whereas they had been 3 inches long. Then took two inches off the top and didnt let it blend because thats not physically possible with the lengths that which I had. So now my hair looks like a total mess and will until I grow it out and have to have it trimmed. I will never be going back to this barber shop. Theyve lost a loyal customer. Because one of their barbers couldnt listen and give the customer what they wanted, instead giving them what he wanted.

University barbershop is a pretty good haircut for the $10 you pay. My friend and I (both college students) go there for all our haircuts because of how affordable it is to get haircuts there. The shop is close to the U of U campus, and about a 5 minute walk from the Stadium Trax stop. The barbers are all very friendly and do good work. One time we went there on a Monday was only one barber working, so the line became fairly long pretty quickly, I suspect they are better staffed towards the end of the week.

He asked twice cause my hair was longer. He could not cut my hair the way I asked which was a simple one. He was not giving me a good feeling during the haircut either.

They do very good hair cuts for $10. Yes, you will get what you pay for. I would definitely recommend it.I have paid a lot more for hair cuts elsewhere and I wasnt very impressed with the the results or with their customer service.

This was my first cut at University Barbershop and Im very satisfied with the cut and the service they provided. I will be back.

NEVER go to this barber shop. I did not pay 25 dollars to give authority to barber to make my hair into pure garbage, when I only asked for trim down my hair. Thanks to you I will have to put on a hat every time I go outside for next two month. The lady here also tried to let me go outside when I had hairs all over my face. I also noticed that there were hair all over my back and had to go home for showrt instead of taking the next class. Dont be tricked on easy access and go to a salon that you know better.

Disappointed.I went early on a Thursday morning and had the Brazilian guy help me. I went in because I thought I was paying a little too much for my regular barber, and wanted to see if he was worth it. (spoiler he is) The Brazilian guy never introduced himself, asked what I wanted done. I told him my normal hair cut, he left the top longer than I normally have it, I asked him to trim the top some more, he took maybe an eighth of an inch off, and I said I want more off, he replied that it would make my hair stick up. (Chad at Trolley Square Barbers always cuts my hair that short, and it doesnt stick up) Then pretty much kicks me out of the chair so that someone else could get their hair cut. You get what you pay for. #sorrychad

My son and I have been coming here for years. The staff is always friendly and works well with my son. He has had hair cuts here since he was a toddler. Bruno gave me one of the best haircuts Id ever had a couple of weeks ago. Great service and great haircuts for a great price!

I was super concerned when I walked in. The staff didnt seem that friendly and there was little talking about what I actually wanted. However my hair cut was great and it was the best beard trim I could ever ask for.I would only suggest that they are more friendly and welcoming. Having a stranger touch your beard can be quite scary when you dont know their skill level. I took a risk and it paid off but it they could reduce the risk by actually talking about the process and what is to be expected.

This place is great for my needs, which are pretty simple in terms of a basic haircut. I suspect this is not your best option for something fancy. Its not a place you would want to hang out in for hours, but always a quick, inexpensive, and straightforward experience. Some of the staff inspire more confidence than others, but in the end, I am always completely satisfied with the results. The prices went from $6 to $10 in a relatively short period of time, but are you really going to complain about a $10 haircut? There is always plenty of parking on the side street off of 500 S just east of the shop. You have to walk maybe 2 minutes. It is uphill on the way back to your car, but you will be lighter after the haircut.

I came in for a simple maintenance/trim haircut. I wanted to take off only a small amount of length overall, and then clean up the back/neckline. When I sat down, the barber asked me what I wanted. I began describing it to her, but she either couldnt hear because the TV was too loud, or couldnt understand any instructions that went beyond regular mens cut. She kept saying HUH?! so I would speak louder and try to clarify, but she obviously didnt get it.She then proceeded to mess/frizz my hair (couldnt be bothered to spray/comb it down afterwords either), and did only a small part of what I asked her to do. During the three to five total minutes that this haircut took her, she tried to make small talk by asking me a bunch of personal/uncomfortable questions, and she wasnt getting the hint that I didnt want to answer them. Normally I would have reminded her that she wasnt finished with my haircut, but by this point I figured the less she did to my hair the better.I know this place is inexpensive, and I thought I would try it since I didnt want to pay top-prices at some other place for what was essentially a trim. For the $8 I spent though, I probably would have been better off staying home and giving myself a haircut with some scissors and a mirror. Worst haircut experience of my life, will not be going back.

Love these guys. Has a stereotypical barbershop feel where you can get to know the people here. They are friendly and fun. I especially recommend it for a quick tapered mans haircut if that’s what you need.

Ive been coming here with my two sons for about 17 years. Cathy cuts our hair each time. We call ahead to let her know were coming and she gets us in & out real quick. Always a good cut! Its a great value, so why go anywhere else.

Decent place to get a haircut for men. Reasonably priced. The price went up from $6 to $8, but still not bad. The barbers here are pretty friendly and seem experienced.

I walked in the barbershop for the first time today, just shortly after they opened for business. I was greeted very friendly by Kent, one of the fine barbers there. It was like Id been a customer all my life. The shop is just like an old time barbershop, and they know how to cut your hair just the way you want. He gave me an excellent haircut, with a handshake and a come again soon. The price is more than reasonable, so I left a generous tip. I very much enjoyed my experience.

This review is based on my experience several months ago. I wanted a simple haircut. I have struggled with finding the right barber in SLC, some were too expensive, others too far (dont have a car). I found out about this shop on google. One of the reviews read that Kent is the person to go to, so I walked in and asked for Kent. Kent is a very pleasant and warm gentleman. I felt at ease when I saw that he instantly got how I wanted my hair done. Although I had a very regular mans cut in mind, so I am not sure how he would fare with a complicated hair style. Having said that, I have got this comment from many barbers that my hair is not the easiest to handle, and I must say that Kent did a great job. The price being very reasonable, I gave a generous tip and promised that I would write a great review online, which I forgot. I plan to go back to him today, so thought of fulfilling my promise beforehand. Go to Kent and you wont be disappointed!

I have been getting my hair cut here since the haircuts were four dollars (they are now ten dollars). Sometimes you have to wait a bit, but it is worth it. The barbers here are friendly and make you remember the good old days and old fashioned barber shops.

Jan 14th @ 3:45 pm. Their neon sign is on that says open, online it says they are open until 5pm just like the sign on the door says... I didnt drive in from another county to get a cut and have them be closed... They lost something they never had... my business.

I wish I didnt have to rate it so low, as Ive been having my hair cut here for over a year and it has been great. Most of the guys there did a good job of interpreting what I wanted and they were nice. Today however, it was a different story. They were busy, which was fine, but after the forty five minute wait I sat down in the chair and described what I wanted. Now, my haircut is hardly anything complex. Short on the sides, a little longer on the top, and the part cut in.The woman behind the chair told me that would cost $16, twice as much as their normal fair and twice as much as I have been charged literally every other time Ive been there. I complained, she said that she couldnt charge me the normal price because having the part cut in makes it a specialty haircut.I personally find it preposterous to double rates just for having the part cut, something that takes less than a minute. If this changes I will be happy to go back, but for the meantime I will be going elsewhere.

You get the basics here; a decent haircut. Very friendly staff, just dont expect anything near extravagant. Very affordable haircut, though

Worst haircut everVery nice people, however, I asked the lady to take off 1.5 and ended up cutting off at least 3 on all sides except the top... My medium long hair that I had was cut down to almost nothing, although I asked her to keep some length(cutting 1.5 maximum). The attention to detail was also bad, having my hair by my ears not equal on both sides, it now looks stupid. Could at least have put some soul into it...

My first time and I had the opportunity of being cut by Judy. She has skill, because I look great! It was a very quick cut, too! All of the barbers were relaxed and making conversation! It was enjoyable to be there!

I get my hair cut with Kent. Nice dude who can do a sweet fade to the skin.Like other places, you just have to be particular as to who you you cuts your hair. As far as the shop goes, its clean, and the price is right! Its only $6 so dont be a cheap skate! Make sure you tip these folks well.

Pretty cheap but not cheap enough to justify the bad haircut. I said just above my shoulders and she cut it to above my chin and then charged me $18 for it. Probably fine for men’s cuts but women should avoid this place.

This is the definition of a barber shop.Great guys, super friendly. Its not hard to make comfortable conversation the whole time. These dudes are have manners and class, and maintain a well-kept appearance themselves. They do way more than 6$ worth of haircutting, so leave them a proper tip. Definitely not the place to go for your modern / edgy haircut, but they will leave you looking good and proper for any occasion - first date to meeting the parents, job interview, or just for the sake of a trim.Not sure why theres a bad review here. Although, Ive found those who are ignorant of proper grammar are generally rude to boot. I would point to that being the cause for the unpleasant exchange rather than the unprofessionalism of this outstanding business.

Ive been here a few times, and the first two times I received a decent haircut. This time they literally buzzed off my entire side burns and then said oops, well it will grow back. This is absolutely absurd

Just had a terrible experience on 22nd Nov 2017 ( I was so looking forward for this thanksgiving break). I got my cut from this young guy with glasses and tattooed. He told he recently joined in October 2017. When I tried to show him the pic of how I wanted the cut, he showed me one of his samples and seemed like he understood what I wanted. However, after spending 15 mins or so on my hair, he shows me the mirror and it was not even close to what I showed him or his own sample. I tell him that I need a bit more shorter and told I want the gradient layer and fade. On this he picks up the trimmer and rolls all over my head making it an even ugly cut. Again shows the mirror, I say thats not what I wanted. On that He rudely says, I have other people on queue waiting. I had my last cut from the same place by Catherine and she was amazing. This guy ruined my hair as well as my thanksgiving.I wish I could give no stars at all for this mean haircut. I request the owners who have been running this shop since decades to personally handle this mean and rude staff they have hired. I had to catch a flight for thankgiving visit to my family soon after my haircut so couldnt really stay on the ground and handle it on my own. This guy can hurt the business repo and image really bad.Again, I have been always coming to the same shop since couple of months and never had this complaint.
