After a long search we came across CarMax which I have only been to once (in another state)and it was not good. This time we basically settled for what was available and overpriced. The sales process was very easy and the sales rep was very good however the follow up after the deal is where most car deals go bad. It has taken weeks and many phone calls ands e mails to accomplish getting a key I still do not have. It was evident CarMax was not concerned as the deal was done so it is on me to make it happen. That my friends is where you shine or loose future clients..
This is going to be a mixed review as I am happy to finally have my dream car however the process of working with this smaller location has been nothing short of frustrating.It started with the transferring in of 2 cars that I was considering. After a week and a half I received text notification and emails that the cars were in and ready to schedule for a test drive.I had already made the decision of which car I wanted and we ended up dropping in the showroom to test drive. We were told that they could not find the car. It was missing. After 20 minutes, it was determined they could not find the car I had decided against, not the car we told them we were there to see.They found the car I chose and told me it had a nail in the tire and that it was going to have to be fixed prior to us driving it. They had no idea how long that would take. This was on a Thursday, the following Wednesday I received notification the car was ready to test drive.The conversations we had with MULTIPLE associates were that we also wanted the damaged grill fixed and the scratches buffed out.We were told that would not be a problem, a work order was written for the work. I went in the following day to purchase the car. The car had not been buffed. The scratches mentioned had not been touched.At this point, I wanted the car and agreed to bring it back for an appointment to have the grill and buffing completed.After sending an email a week later that I had not heard anything, I was scheduled to drop off my car and pick up a loaner.At this time, I was told by the sales associate that it would probably be 4-6 weeks before I could get my car back.I was headed out of town for 10 days, so I dropped it off hoping it would be done by the time I returned.I did receive a call saying it was done while on vacation. I called the store and let an associate know I would not be in for 4 days. She told me she would make the notification. The next day I received a call and an email reminding me I needed to come get my car. I called again to let them I was still out of town.I was assured the message would be relayed.I picked up my car, the grill was replaced. The scratches were filled in with a black paint, so I now have raised scratches on my car. The vehicle was not buffed.Working with a store that does not give the employees commission or incentive to communicate effectively or timely is frustrating. I never talked to the same person when I called. There was never immediate resolve and I still have a car that has scratches and now raised paint marks.My husband worked for Carmax and he had loved it there, we did not realize that the format had changed and in our opinion, that business model does not make for a customer service friendly business.I hope that some changes can be made for future car buyers.Thank You & Cheers!
Kota our Salesman did a wonderful job with the entire experience. We have used him twice in several months. We felt we received a reasonable price to sell our car to CM and therefore agreed to sell to you. We will definitely get quotes at CM in the future.
Did most of the paperwork and credit checks online. communicated with the sales people by text while at work to speed up the process upon my arrival. However, my information from doing everything online couldnt be accessed by the sales person so it delayed the process. Something that should have take only 30 minutes at most turned into 2 hours. But I did drive away with my new car the same day. If they fix this process for the next online customer, Im sure their review will be better than mine.
Sales staff was helpful, courteous and professional and they operate as a team so be aware you might not be dealing with the same individual you started the buying process with at anytime. No pressure sales. No negotiating. What you see is what you pay. Pleasant experience. Purchased a vehicle.

Everything was done in a VERY timely manner, all was explained very clearly, I received a great amount of money for my old car, and although I had my infant with me, everyone made things easier for me and helped very much! Definitely recommend bringing your car here to sell or trade in. They offered more money than anyone else! David was awesome!!!
Terrible experience in Salisbury, Maryland location.Wasn’t able to properly clean my car or put a tank of gas in it at time of purchase, or the 3 times after that. After bringing my car back days later after purchase to get worked on I had to ASK for a rental car, then was given a car with zero gas. Wasn’t able to receive an immediate refund of the gas I put in said rental. Was sadly handed $50 towards an oil change that i will absolutely never use because their customer service was awful. Honestly never want to go back there. Employees seemed lazy and had zero interest in helping the customer. Manager also did zero to help the situation. I wasn’t asking for much & they failed multiple times. I will never send anyone there and most likely never to any carmax due to this awful experience. Work on your customer service!!!!!!
Worst experience ever. Purchased a car and was so excited . Within 1 week the car wouldnt start half the time and half the time I was able to get in the car because the key wasnt working properly. Take it in and they had it for almost 3 weeks without ever a person calling me. We had to call there to get still no answers. An never talk to same person twice and really no help at all. OF Course gave it back and got another car. That car when I first got in it had a tire leak when they gave me the key . Told to bring back up if it loses air again after they put it in. Guess what ? It had a hole and they couldnt fix it for almost 3 weeks. 3weeks to put on a tire after all that money spent on this car. Then notice the whole side view was cracked and 3 weeks later the door Handel fell off. Now how can they say they check these cars when you give it to me with tire lights on. Once they got almost 20,000 from me I did not matter any more. Worst place ever to go to. Seems like they buy from auction and put right on the lot to sell and the buyer is the one that figures out the problems with the car not them. Over priced. Not good cars and horrible customer service. Go any where but CARMAX !!!!

Was sent by another dealership for a second opinion appraisal and was very glad I did! Got a much better offer for my auto. CarMax unfortunately had a computer issue and I ended up having to come back the next day to finish the sale. Everyone was Fantastic!
Ok so, this is an innovative way to purchase a vehicle. I have not seen this since Saturns came out in the 90’s, which is no haggle pricing. No long waiting, back & forth, just clean, quick and to the point. You can walk around the lot freely to see & inspect all vehicles. Also they have a nationwide database to pull from. If it’s not on the lot they will search for what you want & find it. There may be a fee to have the car brought to you but that’s nothing. Honestly this is the future, they are the future!!!

My experience was nothing like I expected. After 4 hours of being at the dealership in Salisbury, MD, with a lot of back and forth between the salesperson and managers in the store, I was sitting in the car I had just purchased ready to pull out of the lot when I was told the car had not been MD inspected. I was given the option to get it done myself or have them do it and pick the car up on Monday. I chose to have them get it done because the deal was already finished--financing in place, documents signed and my car traded in. So I left the dealership without the offer of a loaner car and my trade-in belonging to CarMax. My husband stopped by on Monday, car wasnt ready and he was not given a timeline for when it would be ready. No word Tuesday or Wednesday, not even a courtesy call with updates, but on Thursday I had another CarMax employee inquire on my behalf and was told I could pick the car up later that day. This is not car buying the way it should be and I do not plan to purchase another vehicle from Car Max.
I purchased a $45,000 2014 Corvette and initially thought it was way over-priced; but research said not so, that I would be paying about average. It is a beautiful car, not one single imperfection and a local Chevrolet dealer checked it out and said the car was perfect. Very low mileage, a 7-speed manual, all white, red leather seats, etc. Here are my only beefs re Carmax ...1. the sales staff knows nothing about the different models. I wanted particular Corvette information but it was not to be. A removable hardtop that they knew nothing about, different transmission modes they knew nothing about, and instrumentation they knew nothing about.2. A 786 credit score and they would only do 5.2 on 72 month financing. I got 2.0 from a credit union. Shop rates!!An overall positive experience and one gorgeous Corvette!
Went in for an appointment for a appraisal. They did the appraisal then sent me home saying we will send you an. Offer by email. We are closing. I had an appointment and came from another state.

The woman was very nice and patient with me when i was buying the car. i’ve driven the car about 8k miles since i bought it and the rear brakes were completely shot when i brought it in. the brake pads were disintegrated and everything had to be replaced. mind you the car has less than 40k miles on it total. it was overpriced according to kelley blue book but i thought it was worth it because i loved the car. my previous car had over 100k miles on it and i never had an issue with any of the brakes, especially not one as severe as this. the bare minimum is required for these cars to pass maryland state inspection and they don’t care about you once you drive the car off the lot, which was evident when i called them to tell them about the obviously bad condition of the brakes when i bought the car. brakes are considered a “wear item” so it’s not covered under any of their warranties. i drove a car for 7+ years with no issue, but 7 months and the brakes are disintegrated? it’s dangerous the condition these brakes were in when i was sold the car. i suggest getting the car inspected on your own within the first 30 days so you can return it if necessary. very disappointed overall. i love the car, but i don’t love being scammed by a supposedly trust worthy company.

April 12,2021 I bought a 2019 . Blue Chevy Spark. 1 Month later after 4 phone calls and talking to 8 people They finally told me the car was sold out from under me. I was suppose to pick up the car on April 19. I got all kinds of excuses . The best one being there was a problem with the title. What car dealer sells a car with no clear and free title. I did buy a car but not the one I wanted I needed a car. I will recommend carmax but not with out warning to be careful you may not get the car you buy.
Sold my 2016 Ram to them. Did the online estimate, scheduled an appraisal appointment, that took around 20min. Came back 2 days later, finished up the sale in around 35-45 minutes. Their printer stop working, hey technology sucks at times. Cut me a check and out the door I went. Super easy!!!!

If I could give less stars then one I would. My wife purchased a 2015 Kia Soul as a used car from CarMax about 18 months ago and they did not in the 127 point inspection, which was mentioned to me multiple times while on the phone with them, plug the Kia information into system and see that the ECU needed a product upgrade from 2016 that would help the knock sensors. I was told that sense no indicator lights were on the dash that they did not feel the need to check the ECU/plug it into a reader. BUT this is not even the best part, because this product improvement update was not done when we purchased the vehicle from them, the engine recall is not being honored by a Kia service center. Which in order to do recalls they must be done with a dealer service center, which is a normal thing. So less the owning the car for 2 years we have to look into purchasing a new vehicle because the engine is blown. CarMax of Salisbury is a horrible dealership and I hope that everyone does not purchase a vehicle from them or any CarMax agency, since the service staff nor the management understands what they themselves mean in the inspection they supposedly do.

Carmax makes selling and buying a car so easy! My vehicle was evaluated for trade in and everything was entered into the computer and the value shows up on the screen. Test driving different cars was made super easy and no haggling purchase is the best. You know exactly what your getting
I recently purchased/traded in a vehicle at CarMax. My salesperson, Faith, was really good and knew what she was doing to move briskly through the transaction. None of the pricing is negotiable, which is surprisingly relaxing. There was no pressure. This is the price, this is what we will give you for your car. Take it or leave it. If you do your homework, you can have a real good idea of what you want to do before you arrive. The only negative was that the vehicle I purchased was transferred from another regional CarMax location. It was delayed and arrived about a week after it was promised. There were many comments made that make me feel delay in transfer is not uncommon. If CarMax had given a better estimate of the transfer timing, I would have given five stars.

I had a great experience at CarMax in Salisbury. I went on line looking at SUV and I found exactly what I was looking for. Did everything on line .picking out my SUV to getting financing done. My SUV was at another CarMax and they had it shipped to the CarMax in Salisbury that is about one hour and 30 min away from my house. When I went to look at the car at Salisbury local. It was nice and v clean . I was greeted at the door and everyone that I talked to was very nice and willing to help. My salesperson was very helpful with everything. Thank you all at CarMax at Salisbury and the consultants on line that made my car buying easy. I have the SUV that I have always wanted.i have had my car for a month today!!!!

We wanted to make an appointment today to test drive a minivan we are interested in purchasing. We are relatively new to the area and this would have been our first experience with this CarMax location but we are loyal Car Max customers and have purchased multiple vehicles from other locations in the DelMarVa area. We were on hold for ten minutes or longer. When the service rep answered she was rude almost hostile and refused to make an appointment for us without the specific vehicle number. She merely told us to could come by and when my husband inquired about the procedure she hung up on him. We are on our way today and expect to speak to the general manager. We will not be purchasing a vehicle.UPDATE: We arrived at the CarMax location in Salisbury and were immediately greeted by Jason who was very warm and connected us with an exceptional sales person named Faith who provided outstanding service. I have been talking to CarMax for a week and got a pre-approved for a vehicle. I let them know up front that I was starting a new job and would only be able to provide my first paycheck stub. They said no problem and even told me what car they were going to put me in. I showed up today with that paycheck stub and was highly disappointed. They then told me I needed 2. I said this is not what was told to me in the beginning. They proceeded to give me the runaround so I walked out and went somewhere else the same day and they put me in a vehicle.

CarFax; recalls completed, fair no-haggle pricing. 4 mos. - 4K warranty, 30-day money back if not happy. Paid $99 (no-refundable) to have car shipped from their NC store to MD store for inspection and test drive. Looking for an Audi S4 now at Carmax.
My wife passed away during storm on Aug 4, 2020. I was left with her car.CarMax bought it at book value. No haggling, just very polite sales people. I would highly recommend dealing with Them. Every precaution was taken during this Covid 19 threat.
After doing all the paper work and I even had the money, I was approved for the car but I was told I couldnt get it. Wasted my time going there. Go elsewhere!

I was immediately given a loaner and my car was repaired in no time. Will definitely shop Carmax in future!!

We sold our car to CarMax and it was so easy. We did the appraisal online, went to the local dealership and it took less than 1 hour to get in and out. We also received $2500 more than what was offered when we went to trade it in at another dealership.

Great experience buying a car at the Salisbury, Md. location. I went on CarMax, found a car at another location in Maryland and had it shipped to Salisbury.Once it arrived and I took my test drive, I was done my paperwork and driving the Honda Civic that I bought off the lot within 90 minutes.
Absolutely the worst experience buying a car. Lied to bc your sales person is sitting in Texas even thou you are in Maryland. They are mean and nasty. Do not request a car off another carmax it takes months to get and they love to lie to you and promise within 7 days. They car was 2 hours away I would of went there had I not been lied to about the delivery and how it works. Again only buy from that lot or drive to the carmax where the car is you want! Horrible!Update 48 hours later Corp involved but vehicle is still lost in transit! I have been called by multiple sales person trying to push me into another car with 20,000 more miles and does not have the upgrades I want. Then the Salisbury manager calls with an attitude, um why do you have the attitude, I am the one still without a car! That no one can find. Went missing in a transfer of dealerships 2 hours apart!

Very disappointed in the service bought a vehicle and the a/c doesnt work. Called service dept in Salisbury MD and its impossible to understand what the woman is saying but what i could make.out is they are book on all my days off so what good was it to buy the warranty if they can never fix it. Very unhappy. Have called multiple times to schedule appointment but always the same woman with a very thick accent will not be buying another vehicle from here

I dont believe a better, cleaner business model for buying vehicles exists anywhere else. My story is long as to the purchase of my truck.. It had to be returned after only a few days.. It is going to be totally refunded and replaced by Car Max. They provided a loaner for me while waiting the several weeks for my preferred replacement I selected. They couldnt have been more gracious as this was clearly not their fault. The initial vehicle was defective.I would recommend Car Max to anyone purchasing a pre owned vehicle..... Even blindfolded.. You wont go wrong. Honesty, Integrity and Clarity... Very rare...
