I dont normally take the time to leave reviews for companies. However sometimes I think that they are very well deserved and I will take the time to do so. This is one of those cases. I must say that if it were possible to give them 0 Stars then I absolutely would. The employees are rude. I dont believe they put much effort into sanitizing or cleaning as it smelled like rotten food in the building. I saw no one wearing masks. No one keeping distance. And to me it looks like the instructor was bullying one of the trainees. I wouldnt even recommend this place to an enemy. Feel free to check the place out for yourself but youll be wasting your time
I’ve trained here fore a while now and the coaches are some of the best martial artists I’ve ever met. I’ve trained in a few martial arts throughout the years and BJJ is probably the most fun and practical one I’ve studied. The coaches are friendly and knowledgeable, and the environment is professional. Over all I would definitely recommend training here for beginners or experienced martial artist. Weather you are looking for: fun, fitness, self defense, or MMA/grappling training, this is a wonderful place to learn.
Liars who dont give you the paperwork when you sign up for their challenges so you dont know they are going to scam you out of hundreds of dollars for not discontinuing a membership you never started. Their owner is in Marion County right now waiting for trial on murder so thats real cool. There are plenty of better places in Salem that dont smell like piss inside.
Scam artists! They run free challenges to get your credit card number and even if you never attend a single class theyll set you up on a membership plan and take your money every week. Stay away from these scammers!
Here is what you need to know. They arent salesmen or businessmen. They are Jiu Jitsu instructors. Best way to see if you want to do it or not is just to go in and try it. Currently, there is a 7 day challenge (trial) with a $30 deposit for the suit (might be more $ for bigger suits), as long as you go 3 days during that time you can get your deposit back. We just finished the free trial for my kid and are planning to continue. The instructors are strict, but at the same time they also make it fun for the kids. I do think that if they took the time to learn how to sell their product a little better and had slightly better communication as far as rules and expectations, it would help their business. Almost felt like I had to convince them it was something I wanted my kid to do rather than the other way around...at the end of the trial though, I can see that what they offer is of value.
Their owner is sitting in Marion County right now facing murder and hate crime charges. Why would you take your kids there? Exactly! Plus they are scam artists and will use free challenges to get your credit card information and charge you fraudulently claiming you never cancelled even though you never started.
Coach Aaron and Coach Ryan are really great. They are great with the kids. My son has been learning discipline and focus.
Excellent in technique always super clean friendly environment coaches are top-notch.
This studio is absolutely fraudulent in their business practices and wrongfully charges people for bogus challenges and refuses to return their money. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!!
The instructors are very good with the kids and my son loves going to class
Great place, super clean. I had one of the worst days of my life. Needed mat therapy. I am from out of town walked in said what I needed and was taken care of. Jiu jitsu has gotten me through a few bad days before but this spot and this time was something very special to me. Thank you
This is the place you want to train! Great instructors that are very knowledgeable and who have no problem helping you. Not to mention that have tons of mat space. They also offer a lot of open mat time. 10/10 would recommend.
I go here and enjoy the motivation, dedication, and help I receive from Aaron and his assistant. I am not sure why others have given bad reviews. I would encourage people to come check out and see that this is a good place.
Horrible place and people. Rip people off.
Coach Aaron is one of the most impatient “martial arts” I have ever met. I grew up with my brother practicing martial arts and I NEVER been more disrespected than with dealing with coach Aaron. He is a know it all and comes across like you “aren’t doing enough for Child if they aren’t enrolled in “their program”Coach Aaron has made my 6 year old son feel like he is not good enough or “strong” enough to finish a hellish week of unorganized mayhem because you are ill staffed.
Great place to train. Coach Aaron is one of those authentic practitioners who is not only a very skilled Martial Artist, but a great teacher as well. That’s hard to find. He is patient and intuitive to your physical abilities and learning styles. Not to mention the facility is a dream come true for those who like to “roll” (3000 sqft of clean mat). I have 4 of my sons training with me, which has been great exercise and family time. Love these people and this place!!!
Extremely clean dojo! Well lit & open environment. The atmosphere is honestly the most friendly Ive seen period. Definitely a family friendly introductory to jujitsu and self defense. North stars staff and coaches are no joke; these guys are the real deal. I was lucky enough to get involved in a 6 week free trial. Definitely something to go check out if interested in learning martial arts . I say 5 stars due to the fact of the overwhelming professionalisms, safety, transparency, & coaching skills!
They are awesome, they work with you for payments and theyre great with the kids. My son LOVES going to martial arts with them!
This place smells like a nursing home.
Why are you stealing money from people?
This was a great place. Coaches Aaron and Ryan are awesome, but the owner is a POS. We overlooked the false advertising (free 6 weeks was actually $99 deposit required, that essentially buys down the price to $22 per week following the free trial), but I will not excuse the owners behavior.Hopefully a more honorable facility will elevate the good instructors, and allow them to be great... maybe somewhere out south 😉DO NOT support the owner. There are plenty of other jiu-jitsu places that arent in west Salem.
Trained for a little bit here, amazing experience. Coach Aaron is fantastic! Very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Great community and especially amazing to beginners such as myself. 10/10 recommend to anyone wanting to learn some Brazilian Ju Jitsu!
Visited this place with my daughter and was very impressed with the atmosphere, the knowledge, and the encouragement that we saw.Flexible schedule and great prices. Will be returning!
Manuel has been outstanding to work with. He has earned my respect. His family is an asset to our business community. Thank you!
My name is manolo and I’have to say everything about this dojo is amazing, the instructors are super cool!
Friendly, patient and knowledgeable coaches help you learn Braxilian Jiu-jitsu in a fun and friendly environment. All fellow students were also enthusiastic and friendly, and had no issues helping you out with a move!
These guys are very reputable, and they possess extremely functional techniques in both Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Okinawan Karate. Competition experience, as well as a keen understanding on health and wellness, puts them high above other gyms. Definitely something to look into if youre serious about training in martial arts or if youre looking for a new, practical hobby.
Great place to train! Friendly environment with plenty of mat space. Couldn’t recommend it enough!
Cleanest gym I have ever seen, great coach and awesome all around experience.
Read reviews and hoped great things gave them a call and wouldn’t even give information because “ it wasn’t worth it over the phone”
I attended the self-defense class today and it was great! I look forward to attending more of the series in the future!
The best place to learn jiu- jitsu. If you dont get a move he really breaks it down for you. And on top of that every one is really nice, just over all a lot of fun going to northstar.
Went for a jiu-jitsu session. These guys are really good. I will be returning.
Awful people never been treated so bad by a business who relies on people coming as they treat you as if you won’t even show up
He looked at me weird
Horrible place.
