Decent gym, just dont try and cancelAfter several phone calls with staff trying to cancel a membership, they required an in-person meeting to cancel it (not by me, by my husband). And when my husband finally got the time (and remembered) to stop in and complete the cancellation, they stuck him with a $83 bill.... for a service he was required to come in person to cancel after not using it for a year. Michelle told my husband she spoke with me about it, so he paid. When he came home to tell me about it, I called the gym immediately because I hadnt talked with her about anything. Michelle the manager was incredibly rude. She derided us for not prioritizing our time appropriately. When I tried to explain my husbands work schedule she one-upped me with HER husbands work schedule. Weird. I am shocked. Ive never been treated so poorly by a local business - or a big corporate one for that matter. Not only will we not re-join if the gym bug strikes us again, I hope that nobody else does either. This is painful for me to say as I prefer to support local business...
The manager is very passive aggressive in her posts on their social media page, and then will personally attack you for stating that there are some changes that need to be made in order for the gym to feel welcoming to all members. There were a lot of negative comments made in the gym and on social media regarding people who struggle with their weight and obesity. Never okay, especially in a place that is supposed to be encouraging and promoting health and wellness for everyone.
Love this gym it is not packed so you dont have to fight over machines. The gym is always clean and they are always doing stuff like blood drives and self defense classes. All of the staff is very nice and professional.
Was in town visiting grandkids. Worked out at Epic a couple of days. Clean gym and very friendly staff.
Love the trainers! They all have passion in their work. A wide range of equipment, clean, lockers...just bring a lock.Great place for classes, coffee, or jut a slow walk on the machine!Caters to ALL ages. Safety focus is AWESOME!Fun events and some low cost to no cost (potluck)
This is the first gym I joined since I moved from Seattle. The hospitality is amazing and the vibe of the place is welcoming, especially to newbies like myself.
Very friendly staff, the gym is not crowded, and the trainer works very hard to keep improving the gym by acquiring new equipment and keeping equipment up to date.My wife is a professional athlete and I am in the health professions, and the trainer (Jared) is very knowledgeable and humble about what he knows. Very friendly and helpful guy. Highly recommend him and the gym.
The staff are AMAZING! They know you by name and make you feel like a part of the family. This is the best gym Ive ever been a member of. Keep up the good work!
Good place to come work out. The only thing I have to complain about... Is that the sauna room is always cold. You have to go and make sure its turn on before you go use it to make sure its hot when you go in. Other wise it would have a 5 star.
Epic is large enough that it has a great range of classes and workout equipment. So, those self-directed will be happy, but those wanting coaching or camaraderie will also be pleased. The members tend to be middle aged to senior, so classes are geared appropriately (and so is the music provided, softly, in the gym.)The locker rooms - as well as the whole place - is cheery and very clean. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. There are frequent ways in which members can create community together while also contributing to bigger causes, like cancer prevention, blood drives and health education.
Great staff, excellent management. Always clean, friendly and easy to find equipment. Never to busy, great classes and a heart for helping the community.
Not a ton of equipment and the sauna was broken last I checked. It is really dead in there though and you never need to wait for a bench or machine. Also they play better music than physiq but there is still the odd song that makes you cringe. Cost of membership is not too bad.
Ive been to B-fit, Physiq, and the Kroc Center. Compared to the 3 above Epic Fitness blows the others out of the water. I like the cleanliness and great customer service. Thank you.
Sure, the point of going to a place like Epic Fitness is to get fit. So you might think that a question like, Why do you go to Epic Fitness? would be redundant. But even though Epic has a great, clean, well-kept gym with lots of free weights, machines, treadmills, exercycles, workout rooms and everything else you might associate with your typical gym, this place isnt typical. Its epic. But what makes it epic? THE PEOPLE. Everyone is so cheerful and friendly, you WANT to be here. Theres no BS, just GREAT people running an EPIC fitness center that want you to be HEALTHY and FIT. Im so glad I found Epic Fitness and you will, too. :-)
Great location and staff. Excellent facility with more classes than you could go to. Lots of space with a broad range of equipment.
AWESOME PLACE, AWESOME PEOPLE!!! I had some personal training sessions with Damien... He was patient ( I must have asked 192 questions LOL), incredibly knowledgeable, fun and made sure I was doing the movements correctly so there werent any injuries. Highly recommend!!!
It became apparent as soon as Epic took over this gym that the customers wants and needs did not matter. The equipment that was used by many members was removed because the management did not want it in the gym. At one point I asked one of the management people what was going to happen to the equipment that was being moved. He told me that they were more into free weights than machines so they would probably get rid of most of the machines. It did not matter that many members used the equipment. What did matter were the desires of the management team. A gym needs to meet the needs of its members, and work to make you as a paying customer happy. This gym wants members that are fitness ignorant so they can con you into thinking their crappy little gym is what you need. People need a gym with a wide array of equipment so you can find what works for you, not what someone else tells you to use. The sooner we get rid of gyms like this, the better off the fitness industry is going to be.
Michelle and Debbie were extremely helpful in my confusion of my membership they helped me get it all settled out with no fuss I have been a member at this gym for about six months and it’s very nice and quiet and all the equipment was always cleaned and kept up-to-date!!
I have grown up inside gym walls. My mom was a body builder and trainer and so working out is in my blood. The 2 things i like most about Epic is the availability of equipment you want to use. You dont have to wait or stand around like most places but instead you get immediate use. The 2nd thing i like is the friendliness of the employees. Everyone is always so nice. They ask me about the race i run, the teams i coach, or just smile and wish me a good workout. This is the gym of Salem!
The staff dont make you feel like a one more costumer. They make you feel like a family member. Love it
They have great staff, good prices and a clean, well equipped gym. Ive been a member at a few different gyms, but this one is my favorite. Im not a hardcore workout warrior, so I cant speak the the equipment.
Simply the best gym Ive ever been to! Friendly staff, clean facility, a great variety of equipment, multiple classes, private workout and training rooms, and fantastic personal trainers!
They have lots of equipment and other than the sounds of the machines. People are pretty quite and focused. I rarely have to wait or fight for equipment I want to use.
Will not do duisness with this gym. scam.
I joined EPIC for classes and the opportunity to use the equipment. After several months of membership and trying almost all classes offered on different days at different times, I am most impressed with Joyce (the instructor of Epic Pump and the Yopila class) and the cycling classes and instructors. These classes and instructors are one of the main reasons I would continue my membership.Joyce is always welcoming to all members of her class and will go out of her way to instruct new class members. She is an eagle eye during class – correcting bad form or providing verbal instruction – in order to prevent injury. I always feel welcome and instructed well during class to avoid injury. Joyce is very engaged with her students and her extensive knowledge and expertise is apparent in her teaching style. I lift weights less times per week and am seeing better results. In addition, I am learning to lift and increase weights safely and effectively. Fantastic! The cycling class has different instructors in the am, pm and varies according to the day of the week. ALL of them are great – each has their own style and I love the diversity of the classes as a result! Great work out with enthusiastic people who are all warm and inviting – even at 5 am in the morning! I enjoy the many options of times during the week for the cycling classes. There are two classes that I did not enjoy and do not attend due to the risk of injury as a result of a lack of engagement and proper instruction from the instructor. There are the HIIT and Jackie’ s Jam class. The instructor has a “following clique” that she allows to lead classes and as a result – it is poorly led and creates a risk of injury to myself. The dancing is akin to flinging oneself around – in dim light without proper instruction and correction – led by the front row clique of ladies while the teacher is going back and forth to her phone changing the music EVERY song. The HIIT is “grab this and that – then do this” and bam do it. Very little instruction using equipment I have never seen or used… Not to mention – the class vibe is totally different and it starts at the Instructor and works it’s way through the class. Less inviting and a lack of even acknowledgement that I am even in the class.Frankly – I love that I joined EPIC for the reasons I stated above and somethings are not for everyone. However, we are WAY PAST high school cliques and at this age I am not interested in putting my body at risk, nor feel the need to belong to a clique to validate myself. I am here to GROW in my physical and mental health WITHOUT injury in a positive and open forum.
Great location and staff. Keep up the great work.
Small and neutral when it comes to working out. No pressure on you and the staff are always more than happy to help. Only negative is the location.
Its a very friendly place with lots of people to help and answer any questions you may have. There are good machines and classes.
Great prices, friendly staff and one of the cleanest gyms in Salem and its perfectly located in South Salem a few blocks from my house.
The staff here are very friendly and make you very accountable
Great location with excellent staff and Mgr Michelle. Equipment, free weights and classes.
Discriminates against trans people. My girlfriend was asked to leave the womens bathroom. This is in clear violation of Oregon anti-discrimination laws. Do not give your money to these bigots.
Nice gym, clean and with a friendly service.
Clean, fully equipped with friendly staff and friendly customers!
Friendly staff, all the equipment you could want. Ive never been during peak hours (right before and right after work) but all other times theres never a wait for epuiment.
More gyms need to emulate what Epic is doing, it was everything I was looking for.
Excellent gym and staff!
Great location, hours and affordable.
Friendly staff, clean facility, variety of equipment. They have a CrossFit (not trademarked) room, which is perfect for me and what I need.
First day and not dead🤗
DONT GO HERE IF YOURE TRANSThe manager decided to protect her customers and yelled at me for using the bathroom i belong in. Never coming here again.
Nice Gym
