I loved the 5am and 6am classes that were coached by a trainer who is no longer there. I showed up one morning for class and the owner (Joe) was there to tell us they had a falling out. Told us they were moving toward individualized training. I asked for a refund for the rest of my month and was ignored. I will have to pay for more than half a month and not have the classes that I signed up for. I was also promised nutrition support with my membership. I never received that support until I sent my cancellation notice. Joe told me he could help me lose 5-10 pounds in 3 weeks if that would help. Was also promised a tank that I never got! Personalized training plans that include telling someone to walk for 45 min for a minimum of $250 a month is ridiculous. Joe is very unprofessional with how he runs his business. He is a complete jerk!

If you are looking for a cool and friendly place to work out and where trainers/coaches are truly interested in you and how you progress? Then Chalkbox is the place for you. I was able to shed 24lbs and 5.7% body fat in just 6 weeks. The coaches there are awesome! And they are always available, even outside your workout schedule, for any questions or concerns with your progress you might have. The environment is friendly; you will be able to workout with other people that are looking to improve themselves as well so you feel a great atmosphere when working out. Or if you prefer to workout on your own you can do that as well. I highly encourage you to check them out.

The 6 week challenge is exactly what I needed. I could do hours of working out every day, but the amount needed to overcome bad eating habits and not knowing how to eat to get the results I wanted made sustainability impossible. Joe made it very easy to stay on track with my eating habits, and the classes provided great workouts for people of any ability as well as accountability. In the end I lost 19.8 lbs and 6.6% body fat while not losing existing muscle.I encourage people to try the 6 week challenge, but it is only as successful as you want it to be. To get real results it will mean a lifestyle change which is the biggest hurdle.

Completing Chalkbox 6-week challenge has been the most rewarding accomplishment - I am down 25.6 pounds, feeling amazing and healthy.Thank you Buffy for sticking with the 5am morning crew and Erika for all the positive encouragement and Derek for the afternoon killer workouts. Ive been doing this for 2 weeks and I am seeing some results. Im down 5 lbs in 2 weeks. The staff is very friendly and the other members are very supportive. I appreciate the food plan they set me up with. It is helping me learn how to eat again. Five years of post divorce eating and this has been a huge factor in reminding me that cookies for dinner is not in my best interest.The only reason I did not give 5 stars is classes. I would like to see more class options and an extra time slot or 2.

I started the six week challenge not knowing what to expect, but I knew I needed something o push me in the the right direction.Erika and Derek are awesome, always there to answer questions and to motivate us. The only issue I had was with the 3D fit scanner. There were quite a few issues with it not scanning correctly ( giving no measurements on my neck and waist) which made it very to track my progress. At the end of the 6 week challenge I lost 25.5 lbs.

The staff here are highly supportive of your goals, and working with you to help you meet them! The environment is very energetic and team oriented, so I don’t feel like I am flying solo! I am able to work at my own strength and ability, and feel stronger after every workout!

I have been a member to ChalkBox since July of 2015. This was close to their first grand opening, they have now moved and expanded. My first impression of the people involved in the gym was that they actually care about my well-being and what is in my best interest. I have been instructing group fitness classes for two years now and these people have the encouragement that it takes to get people wherever they want to be! All I can say is good things about the employees and the members at ChalkBox training. Very mannered but also funny, and they are so knowledgeable. I would really come check their place out if you have ever thought about it. You will be kindly welcomed, supported and loved!

Chalkbox was awesome. Buffy was an amazing trainer. Always so confident and so encouraging. In my six week challenge i lost 20lbs, 10% body fat. Kim the nutritionist was a great help in my meal prepping and they really care how your doing.

Joe and Sarah from chalk box are very good coaches! Ive always done just weight lifting and was plateauing. I would be in the gym for hours and would barley even break a sweat. I went into chalk box for an assessment, and I was amazed how great of a workout I got from just using my own body weight. Joe pushes you to the next level! I wish I would have done it a long time ago! Another thing I really like about the chalk box, is that it feels like we are all family! I would recommend chalk box to anyone who is wanting to get into crossfit, or to just get into better shape. Anything you are wanting to try to improve, Joe can help you out!

I started the 6 week challenge March 31st. It has been so awesome!!! The work outs are challenging and fun, all the coaches are very supportive and really help motivate you. I look forward to coming in and working out.Even at the beginning of this, and I had doubts and fears that I would fail.. I’m so glad I took a chance. And nowI am closing in on 6 weeks and I can not say enough fantastic things about every thing and every one at Chalkbox. I have lost 21.5 lbs and 4.8% of my body fat!I would highly recommend this gym! It is seriously the best!!

I was hesitant to get started on the 6-week challenge but Im glad I did. The coaches are very supportive and walk with you every step of the way, from teaching proper workout techniques and sharing recipes for the meal planning, to daily encouragements. The small gym community is nothing but encouraging and uplifting. I attempted to lose 5% body fat in 6 weeks and ended up losing over 7% by following the strict diet and exercise plans! Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend this gym. I held up my end of a bargain by meeting my goal of losing over 5% body fat, by the refund I was promised was not honored due to their faulty technology equipment. Great gym in theory, would not recommend.

Joe and Sarah are great to work with. If you want someone to push you and show you how to correctly lift or show you how to get to where you can correctly lift, you need to talk to them. They are more concerned about proper technique and safety then how much weight you can push. I continue to get better as an athlete as i learn more about mobility and proper mechanics from them. They have a great team surrounding him to help with nutrition and stretching. If you are interested in learning crossfit in a fun environment or competing, chalkbox is the place to be.

Best gym/box ever!! Im a firefighter who had a serious injury and after surgery I thought I was done! Im 48 years old and I feel every year! Joe is so encouraging!! I cant say that enough! After my initial assessment I was so discouraged to see how far I had to go. Joe was challenging my heart and my body always going for my best. He always celebrated my gains or PRs no matter how little they may have been. Ive done Crossfit and Ive also had personal trainers but I was just a paycheck or a number. Joe is so passionate about his clients and that is so noticeable from the first session! I highly recommend this box to anyone looking for a coach who cares more about you and your body than your monthly payment!

For $225/mo, copy&paste programs, dishonesty in coaching capabilities, and a lack of commitment to dedicated athletes.... No, I wouldnt recommend ChalkBox.I trained and worked at this facility for 2.5 years, and while I made progress in my overall fitness (thanks to MY dedication to NUTRITION, which ChalkBox never assisted me in, at all, yet wanted to take credit for), I also remained stagnant in my primary focus...Olympic Weightlifting, and not by lack of my own effort.As a passionate athlete wanting to break into the competitive sport of weightlifting, I trusted Joseph with his claims to be capable of teaching me and progressing me within the sport. We focused specifically on training me as such, for the latter year of my time there.Fast-Forward to October last year, getting to the first weightlifting meet we had been training for, Joseph informed me that he would not even be attending the meet he had been training me for (my first meet, mind you) because HE HAD A HALLOWEEN PARTY TO ATTEND THE NIGHT BEFORE.I was paying $225 a month as an employee for my coach to blow me off for a halloween party he was planning on being too hungover from to be able to commit to me as much as I had been committing to him and his gym.When I confronted Joseph about finding a new coach because of this and his clear dishonesty of knowledge on how to properly train a competitive weighlifter, he insulted me in asking if I felt I was a good enough athlete to need a better coach......I continued training within the ChalkBox facility under the instruction of a remote coach with a clear history of progressing athletes in the sport of weightlifting. Immediately seeing progress IN MY FIRST DAY and continued progress since! (Paying a fraction of the price I was at ChalkBox.)With an abrupt end to my employment and facility use in January, after years of commitment to ChalkBox and the community I greatly contributed to in many ways, I truly believe it is my duty to finally share my experience there.***********************************Worth noting....-Having known a client nearly lose her life to Rhabdo after being pushed to continue during a workout (as an entry level athlete)...-The ridiculous calorie restrictive diet they implement for newcomers that does nothing but cause failure and the idea that success will come if you just sign up for more

The 6-week challenge has taught me quite a bit. In the beginning I had received a message from my friend that we should check this out. Me thinking 6 weeks what are we getting ourselves into?! let’s just do it and give it a go. So we did and here we are six weeks later. I loved our leaders Erika and Derek who encouraged us, cheered us on, and answered any questions we had. Kim was very awesome with responding quickly on nutrition questions. I loved that as a group we all encouraged each other and cheered eachother on. One thing that every workout I noticed myself doing was reading the random writing of FOCUS in random spots of the gym and for some reason that helped me too. I have learned quite a bit about nutrition and have made better habits I noticed about 3 weeks in I started missing attending classes when we had a break from Saturday morning to Tuesday it felt like it was forever and couldn’t wait to get back tuesdays and push myself again. Over all it was a really good experience.

I got tired of lifting at the gym but having less energy and being less mobile so I thought Id try crossfit. Im glad I found Chalk Box Training. Joe McGowan is an amazing coach and teacher and I would say genius, but that would discredit all the study and hard work hes put into becoming a top notch coach, including going all the way to regionals as an athlete and winning! Speaking of top notch, Mary McGowan is a great resource in nutrition science and Sara in mobility.They have the people you need if you want to be a top athlete but also the support and encouragement if your not even close, which is where I was. Since I started with them I have tons of energy, no more back pain and its been a ton of fun!I would highly recommend Chalk Box Training if youre serious about youre fitness and health.

I signed up for the 6-week challenge that was advertised on Facebook as free.Iike everything that sounds too good to be true this was the case. At the consultation appointment they used every sales technique in the books. Then the cost of the program was was written on the white board: $600 up front, non-refundable unless you meet certain requirements and provide them with 3 reviews on socail media and yelp. But dont worry if you couldnt afford $600, they could sign you up for a one year membership for the low low cost of $43 a WEEK for the 6-weeks! And a normal membership fee for the rest of the year... if you make any objections to the cost, they are ready to help convince you otherwise. I signed up on a Friday evening, instantly regretting the decision, but I gave it a try and went to the first class on Monday. The class was good, the instructor very friendly. But again you were required to check-in on your personal Facebook account at every training, this is shameless forced marketing. When I emailed them after the class to tell them that I would like to withdraw, but I would like to pay for the one training I attended I was told I would receive no refund of the difference and they would keep the entire amount paid. I want to make sure no one else loses money on a free program. Just go into it knowing it will cost you $600 minimum. I hate the bait and switch, don’t fall for it.

Completed the 6 week challenge and was owed my deposit back. Went in to get it and the owner told me he didn’t have the money to pay me back so I had to go to my bank and dispute the charge. He’s now disputing my dispute. What a stand up guy. I’ve talked to others and so far nobody’s been given a refund. Some have been waiting 4 months. He just blocks you and ignores you. The only positive thing about chalkbox is the trainers are amazing.

I decided to join the Chalkbox training bootcamp because I needed to take time for me. I have had some major health issues in the past and I need to be around for my children. The food plan has helped with some stomach issues I had in the past. It was great going to the Dr and telling him things were improving.The workouts were the scariest part of the plan- I didnt want someone yelling at me- I knew I would cry. No one yelled at me- there was always encouragement. I learned not to judge myself against others in the gym. I gave the best I could and I lost 20.2 pounds in 2 weeks. I loved the weekly scans. I could see a difference and feel the difference in my body. I needed to go buy new clothes for my body transformation. The coaches were great! Chalkbox is a great way to start your health journey!!!!

When I found Joe at Chalk Box I was burnt out on lifting weights and trying to create my own programs. I never thought Id do crossfit. If you have fitness and nutrition goals you want to achieve, Joe and Sarah will help you get there. Wether its crossfit, Olympic lifting or individual programming they will help you hit your goals. I consider everyone I train with as a family member, we all cheer and push each other to the limits and have an amazing time doing it. They have changed my life in such an amazing way I cant thank them enough.
