Some people work out unmasked the entire time and Ive yet to see staff ask them to mask up. Will change review if/when they correct this.Update: seems to be getting worse lately. Around 10 people in just the weights area unmasked today. Completely irresponsible of management to never ask anyone once inside to mask. Everyone seems to know its perfectly fine to unmask here. Quitting soon and will fight for refund.

Like many other comments here, I found their totally apathy to their own masking policy frustrating and upsetting. The gym has been getting more crowded every week, yet they don’t expand the hours. In addition to that, fewer and fewer people wear masks, frequently even entering and talking with the staff without a mask on. I just quit this gym and look forward to finding one that enforces their own rules and local mandates… or at least does the courtesy of pretending to care about them.

So are you requiring masks or not? I went there last night thinking I could avoid the meatheads that are usually there. A HUGE percentage of people that don’t even bother to cover their mouths and noses. Men and women. No staff walking around warning people. Or no announcement over the PA system. The staff never greets you when you come in. Why are they there?

This gym has the best selection of weights and machines. However, there are not enough spray bottles for it’s size and they are 75% of the time empty, broken, or out of paper. Fulton, a much smaller location has more per square foot than this location and theirs are always full/working.The same 3 bottles that are broken on the second floor have been that way for MONTHS. Additionally, the fact that this gym closes at 9 and they cannot provide an answer as to when that will change back, I am considering cancelling.I would also like to note I have NEVER not once seen anyone cleaning in this gym. I have been at the gym literally every time of the day that they are open and have never seen anyone cleaning. This is possibly happenstance but I find it disgusting that the same black sludge has been sitting on one of the machines for months and has never been cleaned. Especially considering the state of the world currently.

Ample parking in the parking garage underneath the gym. There is a 3 hour minimum with validated parking. This gym is very clean well maintained and organized. There are many personal trainers and front counter staff to assist you. Lots of space for training and working out on various machines and equipment. I was worried about the Golden1 center causing parking issues. They don’t let anyone park there unless they are for one of the small businesses and they’ve expended the parking by a lot. I haven’t had issues with parking yet and it’s been 2 months at 4x weekly. The gym can get crazy busy, but if you time it right (morning or late evening) or use the Google Maps app you can see how busy it is before you even go. They have just about everything you need and it’s so much cleaner, bigger, and newer than any of the other 24s in Sac. I haven’t had any homeless encounters inside like others are mentioning. It’s my favorite gym around hands down. It’s always been a good vibe too.

I have worked out here a year and it has been a series of minor disappointments which, ultimately, caused me to cancel. While it is close to my apartment, the upkeep of machines is abysmal and it is maddeningly busy. I understand that is the nature of the beast being downtown but god have mercy on you if youre in a hurry. The business may also contribute to the struggle to keep up with cleanliness across the facility. The sauna is mix-gendered which isnt really ideal. The biggest issue was the towel service getting cut. They cached it as an environmental step but the reality is theyre saving serious cash and not lowering rates. My membership now offers me less for the same price.

2 stars for good equipment. The machines are usually taken but I tend to focus on functional training(olympic/tire flipping/kettlebells). I have been coming to this location for 2 years now and a 24 hour member since 2006. I finally cancelled my membership over the frank rudeness of some of the staff at this location. Several of the trainers seem to think the gym belongs to them... among the crazier incidents I witnessed was a trainer threatening a member with physical violence after he voiced objection to being kicked out of a location where a class was starting. Another had a annoying habit of wheeling around a giant speaker and blasting club music at random places in the gym(outside of class times) thus preventing everyone else from listening to their own music. The final straw was the front desk supervisor who, out of the blue, sharply snapped at me for not checking in when I had come back in to validate my parking ticket. The entire front desk witnessed me leaving just moments earlier and I have never been barked at to check back in just to validate my parking. Most the staff use their recent memory and common sense to realize that I was just there.... It wouldnt have even been and issue except, as cited earlier, some of the staff at this location have become outright rude. Simple interactions that could be done politely are handled with course language and tone. Get your head strait, WE PAY YOU, we dont serve you. So... I canceled my membership and would encourage others to go to Cal Fit downtown instead, its cleaner and the staff arent malignant. If 24 hour fired the few bad employees I would say this is an excellent gym.

I recently came back to they gym on a 3-day free pass just to work out with my buddy because I broke my ankle and couldnt drive. The free-pass is a total lie. The 1st time I went I was forced to give two sales leads(name and telephone no of some friends of mine)or had to pay $25 1 time work out fee. The next day I was told If I didnt plan on joining, which I didnt, that this was my last free workout or $25 to pay one time the next work-out. The people I encountered both working here and working out here have an unbelievable amount of superior attitude. Ive worked out at much better facilities. Validation of parking tickets can be done inside. Are there broken machines? Of course. All gyms have them as it takes time for the warrenty service providers to fix them. But I have never had trouble finding a cardio machine and the SD auna is always hot. Would I shower here? When we got to 24 Hour Fitness Jordan never asked to see any documents he told us to bring and explained there are no trial memberships available and that 14 year olds cant even work out at the gym. But even that rule changed when he started quoting prices for memberships. Suddenly my daughter could be added on to my membership for an additional $49.99 per month and would she also like a personal trainer for an additional sum of money. You can clearly tell the gym is divided by race groups which makes it feel like you’re working out on a prison yard or something. I’ve heard quite a few racist comments as well. The only reason I go to this one is if I have business downtown now. Equipment is on par or exceeds any other gym in Sac. It’s always new. They have towels when you come in; they’re rarely out.Front Desk Staff is always asking about your day when you come, wishing you a good day when you leave. Never trying to sell me $hit I don’t need. Samantha, their operations manager has been the biggest difference maker. I had an irregular heart beat in May and passed out and she made sure I got to the ER in one piece. I now adopt many of her policies at my own company and make my employees say good morning and good bye to everyone and business is up 10% since. They’re trainers are consistent. Whether it be Stew, Dustin, Amelia, Rachael, Michelle, or Ryan; all their trainers have some type of niche extra curricular work out they teach outside of normal PT. Amelia does boxing, Rachael and Michelle have Core Class, and Dustin’s teaching something different every day. Best part is, you can try one of these courses at no charge, no obligation; so you can get a feel for it before you pay for it. I know no other gym like this. They also have kettlebells, CrossFit Area, multiple dumb bell sets and plenty space for me.Other than that I can’t say enough about this gym. I was so excited to join this gym and get my health back. I was impressed with the overall look of the gym and what it has to offer which includes a 24 hour parking garage with validation, so parking is free. When I first took the tour, I was eager to get started. While signing up I was coerced into signing up with a personal trainer which I wasnt truly ready for yet, but I was excited about that thinking it would help me get even more motivated. My experience however was less than desirable to say the least and I personally did not feel encouraged to keep using a trainer. Ive had trainers in the past who kicked my ass into amazing shape without being rude while training. The cardio machines are very dirty and they run out of paper towels and spray for cleaning. Ridiculous for the size of that gym! Most members dont even bother to clean their machine after. The staff can be very curt with the exception of a couple of them. Also if you have a child, dont plan on the childcare being available all the time as they only have a max amount of children they can take at a time let alone charge you $5 each time, so you can just tack that on to your membership fees. There is also a smell of urine near the stairs that lead up to the cardio! Nasty! Another reviewer wrote that there is also a smell of BBQ in the cardio area which I can confirm is true and is gross while working out!The straw that broke the camels back: The other day while sitting in the sauna, I met a member in there who told me that the homeless have access to the pool area and they go in the pool and hot tub! That made me feel sick. He told me security tries to stop them, but they still get in.With that being said, I sucked up the cancellation fee and I joined a gym more local to my neighborhood and I am THRILLED!! It may not be as fancy, but its clean and has all the equipment I need to get back on the road to health and has very friendly staff! Dont be fooled by the looks and offerings of this gym. Its not all that its cracked up to be. 1 star is being generous.

Good gym, nice staff. But a lot of the people that work out there are douche bags, just leaving sweaty towels everywhere! If you walk away for a second some entitled jerk will take it. But the gym its self is awesome bumper plates, TRX, pool, hoops ect.

Nice Gym but my locker was broken into and my ATM card, Credit Card, and $270 was stolen from me. Now I know why they put up those signs that say, We are not responsible for lost or stolen items. I had to learn the hard way.

Been a member since when it first opened next to the Hard Rock. My major complaint is that the place has turned into a magnet for homeless pests to come in and take their showers (but only after theyve already smelled up the place).

These employees only care about you if you are not a member. Once they have your money, they could care less about you or addressing the various problems at this wi-fi free (sadly) gym. This gym is always unorganized and weights out of place. There are naked men in the locker room without a shred of common decency. Stay away, there are better gyms with better prices then these corporate, greedy people.

Good gym but cannot recommend at this time due to very poor parking, especially during peak. Even worse now that spots are dedicated to the arena and the bank.

Parking can be a bit of a hassle, but I generally get a spot if I circle to garage. Big cardio room with lots of options. Pool is shallow and only two-lane, but hey, its still a lap pool, right?

I love the sports facility downtown. They give you towels and are very friendly

Easily the best 24 hour fitness I have worked out at before the remodel. Weights are typically reracked and there is plenty of parking with validation. Some machines even come with tvs. The equipment is brand new!

I have been a 24hr member for over 10 yrs and get all my family and friends to sign up. I live in Elk Grove and there is not a Super Sport in my area, but sometimes I hang out with my cousin who lives downtown and workout with her. I think its crazy that I pay for the All club sport and was told today that I couldnt workout with her until I upgraded. Which would be $20 more a month when I dont even have a Super Sport in my area. Ive workout with her twice in the last year, its not like Im trying to rip the place off. I couldnt believe the manager there wouldnt even let me get a discounted day pass because a non member would have to pay $25 for one day!!! Its crazy how horrible their customer service is, you would never have that kind of service at the gyms in Elk Grove.
