The guard starts out with a 22 ga. hot dipped galvanized expanded metal base. The galvanized base is then powder coated for added protection.  an aluminum screen mesh is then  mechanically seamed, not glued, onto the expanded metal. This makes for an extremely strong, long lasting guard that can prevent even the smallest of needles & debris from entering the gutters.
