They have performed work on a chipper of mine in the past that was acceptable, although pricey. Was recently quoted $800 for an alternator on my chipper and that it would be a few days out. Its a generic part and they wouldnt give me any part numbers or information on how to source from outside vermeer. After giving CAT a call (who were happy to help out a tree guy with a broken chipper), sourced one from a NAPA same day for $250. Final straw was I just ordered a bolt and wingnut ($5 worth of parts, .3 lbs), and they shipped it to me ups ground for $26. Should have been $5 maybe $10 tops to ship the part. Parts guy didnt see anything wrong with that. Over it.EDIT: RDO fixed the shipping issue. Upped to three stars.

Bought 2 machines in 2017 a 1500 & 1000 chipper. On the 1500 had several issues 3 drum bearing failures (melted) Rdo came and fixed them. 1 failure a month first 3 months come the 8 month had a drum failure requiring a full drum replacement (8k dollars) they stated we had not torqued the bolts properly however 16 hours prior they did a 500 hour checkup. Went to court they won. Do the math, for any of the tree companies out there... I purchased 2 machines in a year! several failures that year! And no responsibility by company for costly failures! (They blame the client). Also after 16 hours they claim it was our fault ( do any of us actually check our knife torques every 10 hours?). Anyway also done business with Cal line and they now service our Vermeer products. Cal line is a local business not corporate like Vermeer. In the end things would have been fine but local promises by Vermeer Sac didnt hold up in their Corporate office.

They replaced a starter on my four cylinder chipper. The starter sells for 125.00 at other shops They charged me $600.00 for the starter $500.00 labor to put it on 2bolts and2 wires. I would get a price before you let them do any work. They ripped me OFF.
