I really had a great experience here at this store especially working with mr Allen Vantino. He really has a good sense of customer service because everyone has it’s own taste of the type of vehicle some are very detailed on certain things and some other customers don’t. We’ll my wife is in a wheelchair And he really help me purchase the right size vehicle it took me like about 3 weeks to find the right one and get it delivered but it was really worth it thanks to his advice and knowledge he did a awesome job!!! I will recommend all my family to do there car buying to car max. Especially the one in Stockton store. All the staff were really pleasant and helpful. My wife and I are really enjoying are cool vehicle. Once again I want to mention all the hard work mr vantino did for us and that I really appreciated.
June 6,2021 Looking for a used car on CarMax website was a good experience and easy. After finding one and the price was in my budget. Printed it out and went to the local CarMax near me on Stockton Blvd, went in and the first the first gentleman I seen I show him the print out and told him I want this car. He said Ok let see if its hasnt been sold or put. Sure enough it was still available. The Guy was really nice and pleasant and very professional. The second process was great to. The lady finishing up the paper work with me was really nice and professional and explained everything clearly. This was the best experience and definitely will be coming back again. Ive already been telling all my friends where I got it and a great place to go for a use or new car and prices are good. Thanks CarMax People😎
It’s been a bad experienceService department really drops the ball30000$ car shaking while idolCar was brought in for repairs and I was notified that it was all fixed and running perfect per service technician. When car was picked up there was no difference in when I dropped it off still shaking while idol. They’re service department is not qualified to diagnose problem so they want me to deal with it. Updated info now they want me to take car to different Carmax to see if they can fix it. I’ve asked if I can take car to dealership for diagnostic check but they are saying that will void my warranty that they are not even upholding.If you buy car here fingers crossed you do not have issues with car.
Lets call it what it is. This is the McDonalds of car dealerships. First of all, if the dealership says they do a 125 point inspection and then the check brake wear light comes on during your test drive, I think their inspection is suspect at best.If you make an appointment at 7:30, dont expect to be helps before 8:00 without any explanation or apology. And when and if you do decide to buy a car, theyll get to your paperwork... eventually. Not before helping three other people who arrived after you.You can get a car here at a decent price (not a great price), but you should NOT expect any customer service.

From the time I test drove and liked it and said yes it was 5 hrs of waiting and then paperwork then more waiting. Very disorganized and inefficient to say the least. If I did not love the car I would have walked.

CarMax in South Sacramento lived up to the hype regarding my purchase of a 2018 Lexus RX 450h which was delivered from another store in Southern California. The representatives were both chill duds, but Nick really out did himself after finding our car manuals and key fob covers which the company said were lost. The price was good and except for them replacing only 2 of the tires with another make and model which is not optimal, they came thru. I received an additional discount to make up for it by getting back the $199 it cost me to transport the car up here and a complementary detailing credit which was very nice.
In general it was pretty good. But, the appointment system does not work.....

This was my first time buying a car from a lot, as opposed to a private sale. My mom has purchased 2 cars from a dealership and each experience took 8 painful hours. I wasnt really sure what to expect. I went in at my scheduled appointment time, they were a little busy so they picked us up about 15 minutes late. Everything from there on was smooth sailing. I did my test drive and once I decided I definitely wanted the car It was off to talk numbers. There was no haggling it was not difficult. The only additional charges were the max care program that I chose to sign up for and the gap insurance which I also chose. The person that helped me through the process was Franco and he was amazing! I let him know about my moms experience and mine was almost the completely opposite. Once I dotted all the Is and crossed all the Ts with Franco I was off to Regina to actually sign the paperwork. They were both incredibly kind, patient and understanding whenever I paused to ask questions. While I was signing paperwork with Regina, Franco was making sure my car was clean and the gas tank was full. There was even a big yellow bow on the hood for its first photo op! I went into the center situation not knowing what to expect but not expecting it to be so smooth. I am thrilled with my new car and Im so grateful to Franco and Regina for helping me through the process!

Prepare for at least a 90 min visit if selling your car. They backed the online offer, so made it worth while. Paperwork takes about 10 mins. Just getting to that point is the wait time.
Bought a car a while ago with a bunch of issues. CarMax said they did their multi-point inspection but I got an engine light a week after buying that left me without a car for 10 days when they repaired it. Then found out at the service that the brakes were worn down to the limits. CarMax didn’t want to take any responsibility or replace them and it’s impossible to get in touch with anyone helpful. Would recommend going to a proper dealership to anyone looking at buying a used car, definitely don’t recommend going here.
If there were zero stars I would give it. Sold me a lemon after all the promise of the Carmax guarantee. Their return policy and repairs department are absolutely awful. The car ran for three days. I have had push my car down the road after it was fixed by the repair department more than once, after weeks of waiting upon repairs. An absolute nightmare and still not resolved! Terrible customer service, terrible vehicle.

The wait was kind of long, but that was because everyone wanted a car that day lol. I forgot the names of the people who helped me. I know the first person was a lady and she made sure everything was accurate in the system and I was with her for a short time because she was fast and accurate she was amazing. Then I waited for the finance team and the guy finally helped me and he was fast he had me do the payment first and then we went down to do the paperwork. He helped me and also made sure everything was accurate in the system for me; he also laughed at my delayed corny joke lol, He was awesome. After the paperwork was done, he sent me back to the lady who helped me in the beginning she handed me my keys and took a picture of me next to my car. Those two people went above and beyond and made my experience worth the wait.

I requested an offer online. The offer from CarMax was more than 3 times the offer from Carvana. I made an appointment and we went to CarMax. Everyone was very friendly. Someone inspected the vehicle inside and out and did a test drive. They gave me the full estimated amount that was on the online offer. The whole process took about 90 minutes because we went on a Saturday and they were really busy. I would highly recommend this as a safe way to sell a used vehicle.
Easy process. I liked how I only dealt with Paul and Sara and did not have to haggle over financing, etc.
We had I couple of issues this time that we hadn’t in the past. Even with those,CarMax is still by far the easiest, least stressful, and streamlined car buying process.One issue was mainly due to the finance company. We not only prequalified but also received financing offers and accepted one. By the time the car got shipped to our local store it had only been 9 days and there had been no change to our credit report. But when we started the process in person the conditions from the finance company had changed, unfavorably. Our sales consultant could still see the original offer but could not continue with it. So we chose to use CarMax finance instead.The second issue was when we got to the store the car we had reserved had a flat tire. With it being and Audi A6 all wheel drive your store obviously doesn’t have one just sitting on the shelves. So it was checked out and found it wasn’t repairable but was just a small leak. The problem is even though the tire won’t take long to come in, the service department is under staffed and we have to wait a full month just to have the tire installed. Meanwhile I had to buy and air pump and I have to add air every day to avoid a flat tire. When you buy a luxury sedan you don’t expect to have to do that every day.In today’s Covid world, however, this is still a minor inconvenience. We are still thrilled with the car and this is our 3rd vehicle we have purchased from CarMax, and it won’t be the last.
The sales agent worked at finding the car that I wanted. The guy was very helpful & professional. The day I purchased the vehicle my agent was unstoppable. He never stopped working to complete the sale in a timely manner. Probably the best car buying experience that I have had in my entire life & I am 70 years old. I have NEVER heard of anyone that I know that has purchased cars through CarMax have a bad experience but a car. I retired as a supervisor & I highly recommend that the company consider making him a supervisor, due to his professionalism & work ethics.
My 19-year-old grandson purchased two vehicles from this location. With the second vehicle we also purchased an extended warranty. The customer service in the service department has been some of the worst I’ve ever experienced. My grandson is Treated with disrespect and unprofessional behavior every time he tries to get a service appointment. Just today he called for a service appointment and was told your warranty is up….call call Riley‘s for an appointment and the service representative hung up in face! I don’t recommend this location and I don’t recommend their service department!
I came here to buy my first car and the actual buying experience was great. The sales associate who helped me, Alondra, was very helpful and made the process go by smoothly. She transferred cars from all over CA and after about 3 weeks of looking, I was able to find the perfect car. A few days after I bought my car, I had to take it into their service department due to an electrical malfunction. First, I dont understand why this malfunction was not caught in their inspection of the vehicle before they sold it. It made no sense to me that I had to take my car back in to get serviced after I had literally bought it days prior. Second, the customer service at the service department is the worst I have ever experienced in my life. I was on the phone/transferred for over an hour just to try to get ahold of someone every time I called to get an update on my car. When I did get a hold of someone, they seemed to never have an update on my car. Every time a customer service representative told me that they would call me back at the end of the day to give me an update on my car, they never did. At one point, I had to be transferred to the manager of the store because I could not reach the service department and I had no idea what was going on with my car. At the time, I had school everyday and it was important that I had a car so I could get to class. I stressed to Carmax that I needed by car as soon as possible, yet they left my car sitting in their lot for two days before they actually fixed it. The actual problem was just a chip in my electrical department that was bad - an easy fix - yet it took them 3.5 days to fix. I will never take my car back to get serviced here no matter how convenient this location may seem. You are better off taking it to your local maintenance shop/dealer.

The process was smooth. Paperwork was super easy. Every person I talked to was helpful and friendly. However, the system/process overall was slow. I felt like I had to pursue CarMax to get each step going. I spoke to someone on the phone to request a transfer from another city. Then we never heard anything. I called the local store, and the car was there and ready, but no one had notified me. Then I was told Id be contacted when the car was ready for delivery, but I didnt hear anything. I eventually called and was told it was ready. So it just left me wondering what would have happened if I hadnt called at each step.But again: Once I had someone on the phone, all the CarMax staff I spoke with were great.

Friendly service, great experience. The only drawback was having to wait for an hour to finish financial paperwork so we were there for over 4.5 hours. In the long run it was worth it, but the extra wait made an already long process a little more frustrating. Love my car and the people were nice.
Overall a nice experience but if you need maintenance, the maintenance department never gets back to you, I’ve called three times and left my number with the department and still have not heard from them.

I went in to sell a vehicle, I had made an appointment and did the appraisal online. They did make an adjustment to my appraisal but the change was reasonable. Their service was fast and efficient even though they were really busy. I would definitely consider them again when purchasing or selling a vehicle.

My experience at CarMax was amazing! They gave me a really good offer to buy my old car. Were talking $$$! It was so quick that I was almost in shock. The sale was finished just one day after I checked the cars value online. The process was super easy too. Just get the value from Edmunds, click the CarMax offer, call them for an appointment, clean the car/gather paperwork, and drive in. Way easier than selling private party. The appraisal took about an hour, not bad considering thats how long it took me to prep it (to get my junk out of the car and give it a carwash). Way more money than taking it to a dealer. One of the best parts was that I didnt need to smog it before taking it in. The appointment came so fast that I couldnt find the pink slip, but no worries because they printed out a duplicate at the store. So easy. Thank you CarMax!!!
Buying the car was great and i really appreciate Steve W. Top notch.Service dept, however, was 100 percent awful. Hopefully it gets fixed but i had my car there for a very long time and they did not do the work performed and lied to me about it. They said they replaced the bumper. When i showed this was impossible they said, no they replaced the other bumper on accident! Neither is true and I have before and after picture proof. They dont answer the phones in service either.I most definitely will not every bring my car back for service and unfortunately because of the service department i cant recommend this location. At all. Ever.If you must purchase here, go with Steve. Hes cool. His 5 stars earned drop to 2 for inept service dept.
I traded in my 11 Dodge Durango and financed a 14 Hyundai Sonata from the South Sac location and I couldnt be happier with my experience with CarMax. Tom Comstock assisted me in finding a car that not only had all the luxuries I was looking for but also had the necessities I needed like gas efficiency and spaciousness. He even came into the office on his off day to help finalize the financing process so I could get my car as soon as possible and he also helped me with a car insurance issue I was having on my end as well. I am beyond impressed with his patience, knowledge, compassion and customer service. I was unsure about the whole trading in procedure in the beginning but he made sure I understood every step of the way and was there to answer any and every question I had. He really made the whole process easy and fun and because of that I will be coming to CarMax again for my auto trading or financing needs.

Im a social hermit and get stressed easily. I was very surprised I was not the least stressed out selling my car to CARMAX. Very professional, little interaction and comfortable waiting room so I can hide in the corner. Best of all, they pay the highest price for old used car. Mine was an old car leaking too much oil. You can just see it by opening the hood . At most I can get $400-$500 unless I go through a private buyer. Carmax offer above my expectations. They even acknowledged its only worth $400, but willing to pay more ( the price of what I expected for a private sale). So, I was pleasantly surprised and more than satisfied. A great experience no pressure selling or buying.

Our salesman Mark was great. The process of test driving was good and we decided to bring our first car back after 7 days. When we returned the first car we test drove some more cars and that was fine. We happened to decide on a car and wanted to purchase it. It was a Sunday night and we were there from 4pm to 9pm. They didn’t offer anyone any water, snacks or even have the tv on to watch. As soon as you sign that you want to purchase a car your left alone like you don’t even matter anymore. They just care about getting people in the door and once you agree to the deal you’re no longer valuable to them. I would purchase again with them only because of the return policy. That’s it.
Best place to sell your car. People are professional. Car value assessment was fair, associates who did the transactions were efficient. They stuck with their estimated time to finish each transaction. Never had I dealt with any dealership as efficient as CarMax. Had a very pleasant experience!
Sold my car here and it has been the worst experience ever. Took over two months to get payoff of my car loan cleared up only to find out that CarMax never actually takes ownership responsibility of the cars they buy. Meanwhile someone else has been driving a car around with my name on it getting tickets. Do yourself a favor and just sell somewhere else. They obviously would rather sit and watch the DMV title check than actually do their job of taking responsibility for the car and get the title cleared and registered to the new owner.
We visited carmax twice in less than two weeks. We got two appraisals on the same car with a difference of $700! The second time we went in it was $700 less! The interesting thing was the car was in the shop for the majority of that week so there shouldn’t have been that much of a difference in price and it was in better condition! Before selling the car we wanted to make sure everything was in good working order. We literally missed the seven day cut off window by a few days! The second appraiser also wrote stuff down that the first guy didn’t. We were very taken aback and no one seemed to care. It also took 2.5 hours to sell the car! We owned the car outright so there was no need to contact a financial institution.
I had a excellent experience with carmax. I did an online appraisal to sell a vehicle & received exactly what the appraisal was. It took a little longer than expected but was overall pleased with the experience.
I did my research on line and choose the car I wanted. I went through the loan process with one of your online representatives in Arizona. She offer the CarMax protection policies and reserved the car I wanted. She was really wonderful to work with. We signed the documents online and were told we had a 7pm appointment to pay our down payment and the car would be waiting with a yellow bow on the hood. The next day was my appointment I had to leave work early to go home get the cash and arrive on time. I received a call from Brett who stated all I needed to do was check in and I would be quickly served instead I was asked to wait in the lobby. I waited for and hour and then went up and said I had a 7p appointment to pick up my car. They said all agents are busy. Then a salesman became available and I had to go through the whole song and dance about the CarMax protection he had to go move my car off the lot into detail and then he supposedly out our information in line for the business office. 3 hours went by and we were the last customers to be called. Then my husbands drivers license was incorrect on all the paperwork so we had to wait another 45 min for it to be changed. We received our car tat I’ll dripping water and I attempted to check out the car and was told I could drive it home I had 30 days. My front windows catch on the convertible roof and ther is a dent on the right back wheel well that is in alignment with the other. No on has called to see how I am doing and I have still not received my promised “ CarMax Welcome Packet”. I am truly disappointed with my experience.

I was desperate for a car. I went to the Carmax in Roseville but they didnt have the car I was looking for but they searched and found one in one of their other locations. They set up an appointment and held the car for me until I got there. Many people wanting cars and location a little understaffed. The wait was quite long but in the end I walked out with the car I wanted. Took 4 hours to complete the transaction.
Although the car we bought is fine and the sales person was delightful the service and parts department at Elk Grove CarMax has been less then stellar. Our car came without an antenna, we asked for one to be shipped to our house. We were told in would be sent with in two days. We still haven’t received it. A week later no one in either department is willing to help. We have been told they don’t call us we have to call in, the problem with that is we have sat on hold for more the 20 minutes each time. We even had a service rep hang up on us simply because we asked for a phone call back. We even tried to get a hold of a manager to voice our frustration but there was no way to get through to one. We will no but a car from car max again.
Before I begin, I love buying cars at CarMax. That being said this experience was really poor. I attempted to buy online and have a home delivery but none of that went to plan. My agent I wasworking with stopped working for CarMax mid deal and no one picked up his clients, so I sat for weeks with no action. Attempting to call someone at CarMax I was placed on hold over 7 hours on 4 different calls due to a programming error in their automated phone tree. When I did finally get ahold of someone to complete the deal they cancelled my home delivery the day of just 2 hours before I planned to take ownership. They never told me they needed a second co formation so when I missed a phone call from an unknown number and didn’t reply to their text cause I was working they cancelled. Had to go in and purchase in store. Everyone was great when i eventually spoke with them, even offered to fill my tank beyond the normal half tank of gas they usually give customer. Would buy from them again, but this experience was a dud. Also that full tank of gas to make up for their mistakes... you guessed it, half tank....
I loved how carmax gave me a very reasonable offer for my truck. There was no haggling, simply inspection, then an offer, then a check. They were very busy, so mine took longer than some, but thats no fault of the business.

We had a great experience at CarMax South Sacramento. Our sales rep was very helpful from beginning to end, and was very responsive throughout the process. We found a car online in Utah, and it only took a few weeks to have it delivered and ready for us to take home. The service department was also very good. They fixed some minor scratches at no charge, within a day. Overall, we would buy another car from CarMax South Sacramento.

I had the WORST experience at Carmax. From the process with the sale consultant to the Service department. I wouldn’t recommend this place to ANYONE. Their customer service was terrible and no one would listen to my problems. 4 days after buying my car I was experiencing issues with my car which then only caused more issues with the dealership, they couldn’t diagnose my vehicle correctly and decided they wanted to just send it off to Toyota because it was “under warranty” which it was not. This place is a scam and I do not recommend.
Youll get a better deal buying a new vehicle.
I purchased a 2016 Honda Civic ex-t on a Monday and had to take it back to carmax 3 days later because the AC wasn’t getting cold they gave me a loaner car and said it would be a day or two I’m now going on week 2 of still not having my car. I think it’s absolutely ridiculous that this wasn’t caught on their inspection prior to selling me the car and I’m extremely disappointed with the way it has been handled. I would definitely bring someone with you that knows a lot about cars before purchasing one here. With that being said I still don’t know when I’m going to be getting my car back.
The entire experience from holding the car, getting it transferred to a location near me, test drive and finally the purchase, all these steps were smooth and I never once felt frustrated with the process. Possibly one of the most stress free car-shopping experience for me!
While some of the sales managers do suck and seem to be indifferent on your investment, others are fantastic and treat every customer with respect and support. Sales and Service are awesome! Both departments do what they can to make their customers happy!
Check engine light went on same day I bought my car... back up camera/Bluetooth stopped working a few days later... 20 days later my starter went out... what else! Makes me wonder if they really check their cars out.I don’t recommended

This was my EASIEST vehicle purchase in my life. I waited forever to get a new car because I despise the pressure that traditional dealerships put you under. I preferred to squeeze my 3 kids into my versa than to deal with pushy sales people. At Carmax I chose my vehicle had it sent to the nearest dealership to me and in 3 days I had the car, test drove it and took it home the next day. No sales pressure tactics at all. The people at the south sac location were really nice too. I will say though that the service dept is hard to get a hold of though. I had a question about keys and the phone rang for at least 30min. I just hung up and Googled it instead. If I need them in the future Ill just drive up there personally so thats not a deal breaker for me.
