We recently purchased a set of drums for our son and Jon was extremely knowledgeable and helpful to ensure that we purchased the right size for our son. We had been searching for a used drum set for a few months prior and we were quite impressed with excellent price that he offered as well. Weve shopped at his store in the past for games and DVDs for our kids and always received great customer service from everyone that we have encountered at the store. I traded my broken gold necklace in for two beautiful god rings. My new favorite jewelry pieces! I also brought my brother back to look at their wide variety of musical instruments and he got a beautiful fender guitar for an amazing deal! I will come back for some power tools this summer and bringing my nephew back to peruse the video game selection. This is by far the best pawn shop in Lake County!

I have been going to Trader Jons for years. He always has new stuff evertime i go there. Last week he had a drill i had been looking for. I bought it due to price. I also stopped in there on friday to ask about silver coins. I was surprised at what he had available. The price was really close to spot so i bought some. He was very knowledgable on coins. What a rip off won’t even try to work with you on prices. I was trying to get a bundle deal and he was going off of the internet and charging me high prices for each item. $8 to $40 a game. Trying to tell me $65 for 5 gameboy games. It’s a rip off. I got a better deal at a pawn shop 9 games for $45

Let me start off by saying that I love Trader Jons. I used to think it was a pawn shop, which are usually run by criminals. But Jon is the guy who owns the place, works there every day, and is the nicest guy in the area...HANDS DOWN. Not only can you buy all kinds of tools and games and so on, which you never see anymore, but most importantly, at least for me- is the music stuff! Its like a mini Guitar Center! When you walk into the place there are so many guitars, electrics, peddles, patch cables, strings, picks, etc etc. its like a candy store for someone like me. Hard to find stuff, too. Better than Amazon or eBay by far. Where else can you go Ooops, broken string, I need to run out for a minute. Well, you can if you go to Jon at Trader Jons. And he is really such a nice guy. Plus, you can actually TRADE WITH HIM! How cool is that. Anyway, big ups to Jon. I hope he never closes that place.

Dont remember what exactly was said.Avoid shop owner.But, despite my bad experience they do have a decent selection of guitar strings.

I went to Trader Jons on a whim, since the last pawn shop I went to was dirty, disorganized and frankly the owner was kind of creepy.As first impressions go, I noticed that Trader Jons was a well maintained store with decent merchandise. I had some time to kill and really had no intention of buying anything, but the friendly atmosphere made me feel at ease. In taking things to the next step, Jon and his sales team provided exceptional customer service that didnt leave the bad taste of the annoying salesman behind.I found a really cute silver bracelet and felt confident in the quality of my purchase.I definitely will go back there - I have been holding onto stuff that I could sell and definitely feel safe that I would get the most for my money when I go back.

Trying to find a guitar shop around the Round Lake area is hard. Traders Jons has the essentials for any guitarist ! Strings, picks, straplocks, capos and so much more ! They have a nice selection of guitars, basses and amps. The staff there is very friendly and willing to help in any way !

I purchased an item from this seller and I returned it because item wasnt as described. It was damaged and had signs of wear and tear. I contacted Trader Jons and they did not provide me any resolution. They also lied to paypal and said I (the buyer) never contacted him which was a lie which my email I had saved proved. My account was reimbursed because the seller refused to accept the package that was sent and it was first sent to his store. Then after realizing I got reimbursed already, he filed a claim saying the item was damaged. I seriously warn everyone to beware about doing business with this place of business.

Had an awful experience at another store trying to buy a stereo for my brother. Went to trader jons and didnt know much about stereos. He gave me free lessons and found the perfect one for him. When my brother received it he said it was amazing!

THIS PLACE WILL SCAM YOU OUT OF YOUR MONEY.If I could select zero stars I would. Do not leave this place without a receipt. We made a cash purchase of two video game systems (Xbox one & NES). The man running the place stated he had personally tested the systems himself and they were both in working condition. He stated that if there was any issues to bring them back right away. The Nintendo would not read the game cartridges. I brought it back in just now and he claimed that this system was not the one he sold to “someone” (me) and that without a receipt he wouldn’t do anything. He then proceeded to offer to sell me a knockoff Nintendo....thank you Trader Jon’s for ripping me off.

My time at trader jons was great!! The owner Jon is a great hard working man that helps out in anyway possible . My friends and I havent had one bad experience going there. Everyone is super nice and always has a positive attitude. Also Trader Jons always has AWESOME DEALS!!

Good prices as a buyer, terrible as a seller. If you want fair values go to ezpawn, especially on instruments. I was only offered $200 (after saying he would do $250 about 30 seconds before that) for my guitar that was a limited run of 10, because there was supposedly no market for it. Did it anyway because no other shop would buy it due to lack of serial numbers because all 10 were made differently. That also makes that sale illegal on their part, which should give an idea of how shady these guys are. I plan on contacting the BBB about the serial number issue as it is indeed an illegal business practice in Illinois.

Has lots of fake retro games and the ones that are real are way over priced.

Not a huge fan of this place because its very small and overpriced. Prices are on par with EBay or near retail. Being this is a resale or trade shop they pay more than some places, but charge more for their items. Naturally you are looking for a deal to save money, here you cant really. Everything thats used isnt 100% fully tested, so make sure you try before you buy. Theres too much resale shops popping up...Alexanders, EZ Pawn, Superpawn, and now Goodwill.

Has a good selection but everything is either ebay priced or higher and its a pawn shop...whats my incentive to buy here over ebay especially with a terrible return policy. Also probably half of the video games they display in their case are reproduction cartridges that are way overpriced. They display them right next to the authentic games so if you were new to collecting you may end up buying a fake game here. Other than the owner Jon, the staff is not knowledgeable on products or pricing. This place could be great but they are not very fair or honest and for that I would avoid this place.

Beware: Dont purchase anything from this establishment. I live in Waukegan and traveled 35 minutes with my baby to purchase a portable DVD player because its easier using a player in the car when we travel. I purchased a portable DVD player that didnt work. I called before I traveled there to tell them the a player isnt working and the gentleman stated he was sorry to bring the unit in and maybe give store credit if it doesnt work. I said ok ill be there within the hour. Upon my arrival a gentleman said let me take a look at it Then tried to fix it buy air blowing air sticking a pen and some silver knife instrument inside the player. He stated yeah, it doesnt work. So, he declare it broken not playable. He didnt offer money back or store credit the gentleman​ stated he can give me a few bucks off another merchandise purchase I said I really wanted the player now I dont know how much more damage you did by trying to fix it. I said let me look around. Trying to work with the establishment so I found a 20 yr old music CD player I said I can trade he said no I can give that to you for 14 dollars so stated I paid 26.00 for a broken portable DVD player and 14 dollars for that cd player so thats like 40. Dollars for a zenith player. I was upset. I said just give me the broken unit back.Now, a single mom watching her pennies is out 26 dollars and so is my baby with no DVD player.This establishment is unreliable for truth and understanding toward its customers. Please if you purchase a product get a terms of agreement policy. I got nothing no receipt and no terms of return policy.SHADY SHYSTERS!
