Bruce Porter is a construction genius. Great quality work by people who care.
Porter Construction has done multiple projects for me and I am always impressed with the level of communication, detail, and quality. They are my go to for any new construction and remodel project....including dirt work. Honest and hard-working!
Hired Bruce for a remodel project. My experience with him, and my opinion of him as a contractor, is very negative. He abandoned the project halfway through, and left several project that had been paid for in full unfinished. He opened several lines of credit, and allowed the accounts to go into default. Between two different suppliers and a rollaway trash service, Bruce left behind nearly $20k in unpaid bills. He is habitually dishonest. Bruce often mentions 40 years as a general contractor. Hes 54years old. Any time he starts yawning while speaking with you, its a tell that hes making it up.Builder basic contractor - anything involving craftsmanship turned out poorly.Very unprofessional and cant be trusted. I would recommend that anyone thinking about hiring Porter construction to think again, and find someone you can trust.
Hired Bruce Porter for a full remodel job. What a colossal mistake that was. We had already remodeled a hall bath that cost us 12k, so we didnt calculate the bath into our itemization list sent to the bank. Bruce tore our bathroom down along with the demolition of the rest of the house, told us it had mold, though none was ever seen, and the remodel was less than 6mos old. We had to pay for the bathroom remodel (again) out of our cash funds, we gave him 9k for that. He then told us that our crawlspace needed encapsulation, that would be an additional 5,500k. We gave him the money for that. Installed cheap vinyl windows, took our entire wood window budget of 16k for those. We budgeted 25k for hardiboard siding, he put up smartboard which cost 30% less and took all the funds for that. Halfway through the project, he says he needs more money, asks for an ADDITIONAL 20k deposit. We said no.He left the project. We had our property inspected, and there was damage to the structures from faulty workmanship. We then had to pay another contractor to fix the damage. 10k to fix the floors, 5k to fix the framing.Bruce put a lien on our house for 17k. I communicated to him that we had paid him for the bathroom remodel which wasnt done at all, and a crawlspace which wasnt done correctly. Were you going to give us our money back or at least credit what you think we owe for these things we paid for yet you didnt do? Nope, he wasnt. Our cash was just gone.We reviewed the list that he gave us for the lien and half of the items listed were not done, 7k for a deck that was not done or even material bought for, yet, he had it listed. I said, take this deck off and just settle this and we can be done with each other. He would not settle it.Then, we get a call from Meeks. Bruce had run up 12k in credit with them Bruce didnt pay, and they were going to put a lien on our house if it was not paid. I then tell Bruce, You have a Meeks bill and you havent paid it. We/the bank have already paid you for this, you need to pay it, or if we pay, you need to drop your lien. Again, nope. He wouldnt pay it, and we then paid it to keep Meeks from taking our house. His lien still stood.Bruce Porter is completely devoid of integrity, imo. He expressed no guilt, or a conscience over what he did to us at any point in this process. We tried suing Bruce. That ended with our lawyer asking for 30k to get us to trial. Our cash was tapped. We would have won if we continued with the trial, it was pretty obvious, in my opinion, that Bruce is a criminal and scammed us. Problem was, we were down to the last of our funds and Bruce appears to be a bankruptcy waiting to happen. So, we settled to end it. We then paid Bruce an additional 13,500k just to settle. I may of well have paid with my blood with these last of my funds, because that is how much it hurt to have to PAY him one more damn dime.Bruce depleted 200k of our construction fund from the bank in total and emptied the budget on many items that he got paid in full yet did not finish the work. He took the full 15k allotment for our HVAC, yet never provided the units, for example. We now have to add the cost of units, roughly 8k, to another budget that the bank is letting us refinance for. He didnt pay some of his subcontractors and they have threatened liens. Thankfully, these liens are now his to pay as that was in the conditions for the settlement. Doesnt affect the Meeks lien, we just lost that, along with all the cash we gave to him for work he never did, money for the damages, and the up charges, etc.Bruce Porter is the worst of the worst. I wish I could call the police on him. I wish he would go to jail for what hes done.
I hired this company to do a $40,000 remodel. I am extremely dissatisfied with their work, their ethics within the company, and their honesty. My opinion is that you should stay very far away from this company.
Great group of quality minded craftsmen and women working together as one to always deliver a Cut-Above product.
Very disappointed in cleaning up our land. Very expensive for the amount of work done. We had to basically redo it ourselves.
Very poorly operated and shady.Do not trust them.
These guys scammed me out of $10,000. Pending court action now.
Fine workmanship,exceptional honesty,TRUE CRAFTSMAN
Looking for an artist remodeled, this is that guy!
