Cal Fit has helped my family enjoy a long, hot summer. They really make sure we have no wants or needs by providing everything we’ll ever need. Their staff is super nice and accommodating. Thank you Cal Fit Rocklin!
Great placed to work out - been a member for 15+ years and am very pleased with the membership
Clean, professional, well serviced and affordable place. Thank you very much guys !
Great place to get a great workout in. The jacuzzi and pools are amazing. I also enjoy playing basketball, so when the courts opened up again, I was very excited.
Great place and good staff. Can’t beat the prices here.
Would you be willing to open a gym in Auburn or Grass Valley? I so appreciated your gym when I was a member. Its just not as convenient as I had hoped living where I do in Grass Valley, Nevada County. My favorite sport is swimming. I swam all my life and coached and taught swim lessons. There is only 2 larger gyms in my area with a swimming pool. They are both nice athletic clubs. I always enjoyed CFF since I was living in Fresno going to CSUF college. If you want to look into it. Kmart in Auburn closed awhile ago, and the parking lot is sitting empty. Hope your business continues to be successful!
Great, clean and great staff... Especially at 5am
Cycle and aerobic classes playing music and instructors headset extremely loud cannot even hear my own headphones. Called and complained three times with no success then called the main office and put through to somebody who was said to be the manager he said he would deal with that and get back with me which he never did. Return after the holiday and same things going on complained to manager at the location again she came out and volume was turned down minimally and her headset was still extremely loud. Dont think music should be that loud when theres only three people in the class and I understand theres an echo out there but Im on the other side working out and still cant hear my headphones I think its just rude! hate to be the get off my lawn guy but talking with other members Im not the only one hopefully they can remedy this maybe have a meeting with all the instructors.
After returning to California after a multi-year hiatus, we decided to sign up at Cal Fit in Rocklin. We have free access to another gym, but wanted to utilize a gym that was a little closer to home. The individuals at the front desk are always friendly and the gym itself is clean. There are some issues in regards to equipment availability during peak hours - specifically treadmills and squat racks (of which there were only two) at the Rocklin location - but nothing that a little patience couldnt overcome. The two stars boil down to a single issue. Our gym membership was put on hold in March due to the pandemic - Cal Fit was preemptive and thoughtful. They listened to local authorities and took care of everything immediately, including suspending automatic payments, which seemed almost anomalous in comparison to other gyms. Mind you, this isnt a point in anyones favor - this is how all gyms should operate.Eventually, though, they decided to reopen - offering a free hold for members unwilling to return and concerned with their safety. It was a good thing, too, as right after reopening the state of California shut down again. It was during this reopen/shut time frame that we decided to, at first, place a hold on the membership, and then, after contemplating, just cancel. Cal Fit had a process in place for this, and stated our membership was cancelled. Everything was great!Until they charged us at the end of August. I called and requested they drop the charge, that we had cancelled back at the end of June. They had failed to cancel the membership, but they would cancel it now and they proceeded to tell me that the charge was to pay for a final month of membership based on their contract. I told them I wouldnt have been able to go to the gym, as they were closed when I had originally cancelled, but it got nowhere - they were getting their ounce of flesh. They let me know I was more than welcome to go to the gym now, in September, two months after cancelling. Addendum: The gym is currently outside - and the air quality is varying between Unhealthy and Hazardous. So, be wary, I guess!
Cal Fit is a great place to work out. The staff are very nice and professional. The equipment is clean and they have everything you need for any kind of workout. They’re even doing their best to provide equipment outside, since they’ve had to cancel indoor workouts due to the Covid virus. Can’t say enough. Awesome!
Good selection of weights inside and out, outside trends toward the dirty side but given the current situation the employees do their best to maintain it.
Outside gym is great have been working out there since I was 10, changed my whole life
Very clean. Not alot of people. I have a fantastic work out everytime I go with so much fun equipment to work with
Charging full payment, but doesnt provide scope of services and quality I signed up for. Will find a better place.
It was one of the best of California Family Fitness gym, but now it has some problems:1. They made many private lockers, its so difficult to found empty locker!2. This is more important!! Bathroom and showers have mold!!! Its so dangerous for your health!! Spores of mold mushrooms instantly fall into the lungs during breathing! This leads to severe illness and in some cases even death!!3. The hoods in the locker rooms are very dirty on them with a lot of dust that we breathe!
Ive been coming to this gym for about a year, and I absolutely love it! The staff is fantastic, whenever I have a bad day one of their employees Megan always has a smile on her face to help me push through. Highly recommend this gym to anyone 😃
Eric at the front desk is the man. This gym has exceeded any expectations during what’s been an incredibly tough year. They’ve followed every ridiculous guideline that that’s been given out and made working out at normal as possible.
You definitely ought to explore the other gyms in the area. Signed up for personal training two times a week, and they continued to take money out of my account monthly without providing the service. Personal trainer didnt show up at scheduled times. They will not give money back for services that they dont render. Dishonest company. With so many other gyms in the area, you should look there first.
Awesome. The lap pool is where it is at!
Love the outdoor tent!
Ive never had problems here, the environment is great. Its down to earth and has everything I need for a great workout!
Strong sale on their memberships. If you go in to check it out you’ll love it. But the pressure on membership is the typical in this atmosphere, it turned me off to the whole place!
I love the Rocklin location. Its up on a hill. You get gorgeous views while you work out.
I want to make sure that those that are trusting of people and companies in general are well informed. Let me tell you what happened with my experience at Cal Fit and you can judge for yourself whether you want to be a member in their institution.First, after I signed up, I was called, emailed and even text messaged, several times a week to sign up for additional services. I requested they stop contacting me, they did not. I had to mark their emails as spam and put a block on all their phone numbers to stop the calls and text messages. We signed up for swim lessons for our son. Four, during the summer of 2018 if I am remembering correctly. We were told they were at a certain time and given a schedule. We did not realize that the final class was an hour earlier than the previous three classes and did not show up on time. We asked if there was anyway it could be rescheduled. The person at the front desk told us they would have a manager call us. We never received a call.Be SURE to read the entire contract. In fine print, they indicate they are going to charge you $50 extra every year for a Club Enhancement Fee. While this was my fault for not noticing, I would never have thought to look for this in the contract which does not include it in the initial price or communicated at sign up. I will accept responsibility, but I want to make sure others read everything.Further, when you try to cancel, it was pointed out that the contract is worded as such, I understand that on my Anniversary Date, as set forth above, my membership will automatically be converted to a month-to-month membership at the rate(s) in effect on my Anniversary Date. When this occurs, I may cancel the membership at anytime by providing a written notice and making one final monthly payment to: California Family Fitness, P.O. Box 2350, Orangevale, CA 95662. Again, its the one final payment to Cal Fit I did not quite catch. I am no longer a member but I have to pay for the month of July/August anyway. This oddly feels like a processing/start-up fee which they supposedly waived because of a promotion...Just know that, when you sign up for this agreement, all these fees and charges are there. Its sad that companies bury this in fine print. Ive now spent $184.99 on items I wasnt expecting. I will never consider being a part of their institution ever again.
Very good social distancing practices
Great place to work out, however would be agree with previous reviews about management. They dont really care after you bought membership. And I dont want to tell whole story about what happened in a past, but management handled it horrible. Its my second time with this gym, only because I like what they have for working out.
We wanted to get a free 15 day trial to try out this gym because we never been to gyms before. One of the workers tried to bribe us to get a membership and pay money for it without telling us about the 15 day trial. It took us 1 hr to finally get the trial. Otherwise the gym is a wonderful and family friendly gym. Awesome place to workout with friends.
Great Place!! Love the staff, equipment availability, classes and of course Racquetball!
Awesome place. I love the way its set up. Makes you feel like a true club that youre a part of. The whole staff is cool. Mostly everyone is friendly that goes there.
Great location. Good amenities. TERRIBLE management. Things break, we get it. When it takes weeks to fix things with no explanation outside of sorry for inconvienece, its just lazy management. Going down for construction? Sure. But the order of it is laughable. Inaccurate timetables? Always.Rules here are also unevenly enforced. Shoes and exercise equipment in the sauna? Standard But hey lets make sure those harmless kids are booted from the hot tub right away.Ive heard from older members it hasnt always been this way. Please corporate, give us a survey..
This is my main gym as I live very close to it and I have to say that this is the best gym that I have ever been to or been a member too. They take of their members with great customer service, and have everything that you can ask for in a gym. The price per month is seriously cheap considering all the amenities you get. Pretty amazing :)
Great gym. Nice, clean equipment. Electronic display screens for lots of equipment that allow you to create an account to save your workouts and use your personal Netflix or Spotify. Enough machines that when its busy, theres still room to workout.
Pretty good gym. We joined recently so the kids could swim and have child care while we work out. However, dropped it a star as there are too many machines out of order for the amount everyone pays for their memberships! These should be repaired as soon as they break for as many people you have visiting everyday.
Very Professional and Accommodating - Jen Chapman is an extraordinary Manager. Staff is responsive and helpful each time I communicate with them. Not to mention cheerful and positive. The facility itself is well equipped and versatile. Even at peak times the environment is conductive to focusing on your work out or training. And the amenities are consistently up and running more so than in any other gym Ive had a membership. In many cases there are more than one of.......even several of the same type of machines so I am not held up waiting for a vacant one.
Nicole Leu is by far the best personal trainer I have ever had! She listens to my concerns but doesn’t let me off the hook just because I’m whining. She has so much knowledge and passion for what she does! She makes me want better for myself. California Family Fitness is lucky to have Nicole Leu as a member of their team. Thank you Nicole!Karen Will
Great place, very clean and well maintained. Best pool in Sac Valley
Unfortunately this gym has changed, I use to be a member for 2 years and was always there. The employee which works inside the gym happened to be playing basketball and decides to give me a full on tackle screen extending his arms forward trying to hurt me, I knew it was coming so I properly absorbed the blow. He then threatens me and says he works there like that is scary? I began to realize he most likely is a minor, so I immediately tried to get help 0 effort to even look at tape with me! They took my name and told me I couldnt play anymore turning into west sac?
Despite a miscommunication with the sales team about how the trial membership works - This gym is SOLID for anyone around the rocklin / roseville area. Can get busy in the afternoons... like any gym ----- but theres plenty of equipment and options for the entire family. The employees here are genuine and helpful. Love the views off the back deck!
Warning...Do not get the free month trial. I tried to cancel it 3 days before my free month ended. First I called, and they referred me to an e-mail. I emailed them, and they waited until it was too late to call my credit card to return my email; Then they told me that they canceled it effective the following month. $119. They say that you have to give 30 days notice-so in effect, you have to sign up and cancel it at the same time.
Great gym. Has everything you could ever want from a gym
I was with Family Fitness many years ago and it looks like they havent changed their sales tactics for signing up members and not informing them of all the contract details, so when you decide to cancel, they make it hell on earth to cancel and try to stick you with every cancellation fee imaginable. The reason why I havent returned is for the same reason I read in other reviews......sketchy sales tactics and over priced. My wife and I are considering becoming members, so knowing what I know, I will read the contract carefully and wont hesitate to write on the contract what I need to feel comfortable. The good news, to be fair, is their facilities and activities are nice.
I had a membership for a number of years. As more gyms came to the community I found it to be overpriced for what you get. There are a number of gyms for $9.99 a month and this gym list for $70.00 a month. The gym is good and lot of equipment but we had on going billing issues and payment processing issues. I would expect wonderful customer service for what the monthly dues are and I found it fall short.
I’ve always been intimidated by most things in the gym. And after dabbling in the classes available and getting bored of workouts I designed with my limited knowledge I decided to try the free personal training exercise class.I was originally scheduled with Pablo Guzman, but Cordell Winrow took care of all my health history questions and shadowed the actual workout portion of my session. Having two trainers was a little intimidating but Cordell’s suggestions of how to improve my form were definitely appreciated.I ended up signing up for additional sessions (a bit pricy but again I’ve got almost no idea what I’m doing in the gym) and I’ve continued to see Cordell. There are some days when I do not want to go to the gym but seeing Cordell and having it be a positive experience every time makes me want to come back. When doing something new the focus is on my form, Cordell offers tips and little things to keep in mind so that I can preform the exercises safely on my own. His lightheartedness make sessions enjoyable (although core work hurts more when you are laughing).Cordell is also one of the trainers that uses the hyper volt massage gun. Being somewhat young I though I was in fairly decent shape but that machine has made it clear I am very tense. It’s not the most comfortable experience but Cordell was right in that it makes a huge difference afterwards. It’s clear he knows what he’s talking about and is able to explain what’s happening with my muscles in a way I understand.Having a trainer that will push you, hold you accountable, and is knowledgable is all incredibly important but I truly appreciate that Cordell is also one that I can laugh with and have a few inside jokes with. It makes it truly worth the investment.
Awesome place to work out.For $30 a monthYou get a gym, shower, swimming pool, yoga lessons, cardio centers, child day care and much more.I definitely recommend it!
I love CalFit and I am forever grateful for the Rocklin Fitness Manager, Leah, and my personal trainers. I have learned a lot about lifestyle changes that turned into amazing fitness strategies and new goals. The family environment makes me feel at home when working out and trying new things. My trainer taught me to take care of me so that I could take care of my family. The Rocklin Cal Fit Personal Training team has taught me to change my attitude, change my life, change the world...
Like most people, I started my fitness journey at the beginning of the year but decided in Feb to hire a personal trainer. Whoo hoo I thought finally making this leap! After inquiring about my goals, California Family Fitness matched me with Cordell Winrow, who was also new to this gym but let me tell you, he has been a god send!!Now my story is a little different because I started out with tendinitis in the elbow that worked it’s way up my shoulder near my rotator cuff. Then when I was about to start my training, I put my hand up on my hip and when I dip you dip, we dip....well more like I fell on my left side and had to spend most of my time in the past few months rebuilding my entire left side and improve my range of motion even better than before the fall!He has been such an inspirational, motivational personal trainer that treats me like family and continues to guide through each session! Again Our focus has been to work on the secondary muscles which in turn build to provide a foundation for the larger group of muscles along with improved range of motion!I also love that he promotes safety so I learn to not hurt myself along the way.We have incorporated the Hypervolt which is an incredible massage therapy tool to help release tension and muscles prior to each workout along with proper stretching!!He is an incredible asset to the Cal Family fitness and that anyone looking to hire him will be in great hands!!When I started 4 months ago I was broken. I may not be completely healed but have made tremendous progress through improved mobility and able to lift more! I’m so proud and would give him a 5 star plus rating every single time!! Thank you thank thank you Cordell!!Sincerely,Nicole SissleMember California Family FitnessRocklin on Sunset
I love our local Cal Fit gym. SO many options for equipment classes to make your workouts full of variety and fun!
So I am still there and discovered that this club has a very beneficial resource. I took them up on a free training session. I am one of those old guys who has been sitting in a high rise office building for 30 years looking after large corporate clients. Turns out recent studies show that sitting 10 hours a day is terrible for the body. I explained my situation to a trainer and took a leap of faith-threw down some $$$ and signed-up for three months of training. Best healthcare money I ever spent. My legs were a mess. I could not leg press 300 pounds without extreme pain. Going up stairs hurt. I could not run. Even walking caused pain. So my trainer, Ms. Leu, examines my movements and knew instantly what needed fixing. It was a combination of stretches and hip exercises. I did not know these existed despite having have been seriously working out since 1977. After three months, I now press nearly 600 pounds without any pain. Walking, stairs-no pain either. You must understand that these individuals are not ordinary trainers. They are educated professionals: all certified with Ms. Leu being a graduate of Washington State University Pullman in some rehabilitative degree. That is a University where the likes of Edward R Murrow and Microsofts Paul Allen attended. She worked with members of the US Olympic team. So not just any ol trainer will be found at CalFit. There are others, such as Chris, Brian, Jake and Devann. All certified, professional and sincere in their focus on having you reach your fitness goals. As I stated earlier, my lifting experiences goes back decades. I started at Bobs Athletic Club that is well known to West Coast bodybuilders as its owner, the late Bob Perata, introduced Governor Schwarzenegger to the West Coast bodybuilding circuit long ago. CalFit harkens back to that time when things were smaller, friendlier and more focused on members and not profit. For me, its no longer just a gym, but a club where one can be assured fitness is the focus.I receive no compensation for this post. I am merely a grateful patron who now gets all gain with no pain. That is a nice change of pace at this stage in my life.
My grandsons love to climb the wall.
The outdoor pool supports year round swimming thanks to a reasonable temperature, a very good proactive manager(Jen), weight rooms, sauna and the spa helped hard knocks, always clean environment, a good deal for the monthly dues, and lots of other choices to stay fit. Thats why Im going into my 13th year at this gym, my lifeline.Tim Gardner, Rocklin
I have no complaints about Cal Fit, except one. They are great gyms. Theyre clean, have great equipment, and great staff. They just need to stay open later on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays
Arguably the rudest staff youll ever meet. I moved and attempted to cancel my membership. Key word is attempted. After I sent in my letter to cancel they proceeded to charge my account $75 for 3+ months. I drive in to the Rocklin location to get it resolved. If youre there to sign up you get treated nicely, but as soon as I told them I was hear to follow up with my cancellation they couldnt care any less about me. Long story short, they wouldnt honor my cancellation or refund any of the dues they proceeded to charge me. They said verbatim there is nothing we can do for you. I had to contact my bank and put a stop payment to prevent them drafting my account. Dont trust them. They are scammers. When I signed up they told me it was month to month and could cancel at anytime. Lies, lies, and more lies. This is a company that has no grasp on what customer service is. Do yourself a favor, find a different gym. This one is overpriced and managed by dishonest people.
Back in operation
Great staff and Awesome family environment
I love this gym. It is always clean and helpful staff. I usually use the pool, and I enjoy it.
This establishment is awesome. The manager Mike did amazing with my son and his staff went over and above.
Recently moved to the area and just joined the gym. Plenty of equipment and areas to exercise. Many class options and several pools.
If you dont join after the 7 day trial they treat you rudely and hang up on you mid sentence. Going to tell everyone I know how rude there customer service is.
Great gym with great instructors in the fitness classes. Joe Hersog in the spin class rocks the music and motivates the class to push it to the limit.
Friends know, what if you want close its membership that with you take payment still for one month, even if your contract already ended. We warned for a month that we want to close membership
One of the best family fitness gyms out in Sacramento, Ive been to many, this one stands out of all of them out there. They have Nice pools and saunas, (which Im a big fan of) yes u say all of ca fitness have em but none are as clean as this place, ...this place takes good care of their facility, unlike natomas or sunrise ca fitness gyms, plus staff is courteous and professional, always there to help. One thing for me.....I wish saunas would be located differently, closer to pool, and not crossing over mens entrance to locker rooms, since that path is always wet, and they need shower heads in their pools like they do in natomas ca fitness ..., Nevertheless, this is the only gym that I ever gave 5 stars to so far, and their new COLOR-CHANGING lightning inside steam room is absolutely AWESOME!!
This gym is amazing! They offer everything under the sun including a sauna with eucalyptus steam room at their Natomas location.
There are awesome group fitness instructors (e.g. GST/Kickboxing - Jen Terry and Shirley Loss). Please ensure that there is a box of tissues in the changing room at all times.
This gym is great! It has a pool, lots of equipment and many many different training programs.
Just got a monthly membership.. Pretty nice place, showers 🚿, pool, spa, basketball court 🏀, all the equiptment you would need to get schwartzineggar status, even got free massage coupons lol, pretty cool.
New day new problem at California Family Fitness. Just stay away
The variety of machines and the pleasant staff make it a great place to work out.
Open space, latest machines, better basketball courts (since update), childrens play area.
CFF in Rocklin, Are constantly upgrading new up to date equipment and their personal trainers are the best.
Clean and less crowded than its Roseville counterpart
Really enjoy the Gym :)
Great gym. Kaige at the front desk is awesome.
I love the spacious environment, the friendly staff and all of the equipment!
I love the staff and the amenities. I like that there are updates being made to the facility so I know the money we pay is being put towards bettering the gym.
Great gym with friendly staff and good people.
The staff is great and the machines are always well maintained and functioning
A very comfortable place to work out.
This place is great, there is NOT sweat all over the machines like someone else said, in fact every time Im there, there is an employee cleaning the machines. That and I always see the members wipe down the machines after each use, I certainly do.I do agree with another member that the managers can get tricky on occasion with their wording of trials which is common in sales :/ .... my advice? READ the contract. You always should anyway. That, and whenever my family is upset with something they always end up giving us free stuff to keep us as customers. When I tried the free trial for the kid center for my son, he ended up getting sick that week. They gave us another TWO weeks free just to be nice. We ended up signing him up.Honestly I find the place to be pretty pricey, but Im part of a family plan so I can afford it out of luck. If it were just me Id explore other gyms with 1/3 the cost before coming back.As for what this place offers:So many classes! I LOVE the Zumba classes, yoga is great, and there is so much more. You can basically attend a class any day at almost any time. A great way to keep your workouts interesting. The pool area is great, a separate lap pool, kids pool and splashy area, and a third pool for everyone else/classes.The kids center is amazing. Its 2 hours maximum which I think its a good amount to fit in a decent workout, and if you want to come back later, you can wait two hours and then come back for another max of two hours. This is probably for parents who have opposite schedules or some who have insane workout regimes. lol. Its not a daycare so you will be expected to change your kids diapers (Id prefer to anyway) and they only call you if your kid has been crying for more than 5 minutes and cant be calmed (They dont hunt you down for every little hiccup) The people who work there are so sweet and I was amazed that they always remembered my child by name and always seemed thrilled to see him. Very sweet crew. My son loves them.Tanning is $9 per session or $25 added to your membership per month. I noticed this info didnt seem to be anywhere online.Machines are always available, especially cardio. Ive had to wait for a weight machine before, but only because I like a certain area and it only meant that I used another machine that I planned to use anyway before getting to the one I had thought of first. No biggie. They have things for sale at all times like energy drinks, water, gear, and headphones, which is great for the days that I forget something.Theres a sauna, steam room, basketball, racket ball, rock climbing, etc. Two levels for weights so I noticed most of the body builders stay downstairs where cardio doesnt exist.I love this place. I think its perfect, but like I said, its pricier that other, smaller options. If all you want is an elliptical and some dumbbells, it is not worth the price here. The childcare makes it worth it though.
I enjoy this gym I just would like it if they were open later on fridays, saturdays and sundays. And the steam rooms been alot cleaner lately on a regular basis I just hope they keep that up.
Total rip off!!Such a pain to cancel and then they charge you 99$ for no reason at the end. Called to see what the charge is for and totally got the run around. Also, yoga class is a joke. Way over priced gym.
Rude staff they dont even acknowledge you when you leave or come in. In addition, this place is a mess! The lockerroom is filthy and weights are everywhere! The machines are also very old. This club is a joke, pay more and go to Lifetime Fitness.
Great place, clean, lots of equipment and classes to choose from.
The supportive atmoshphere rocks!
Steam room and equipments needs be clean periodically. I found steam and saunaroom very filthy and exercise euipmentssweat all over..it gets very crowded
I like all the options for classes (and locations). Friendly staff, had my first time visit ready to go when I walked in. They pointed me right to the class I wanted to join, and when it was done they have me the tour.
Nice and clean,professional and helpfull.
Clean, friendly & non-competitive atmosphere.
Excellent pool and swim coaches!
The facilities has a wide range of equipments and sports/execercises to do.
Thanks for waving my final bill.
Good people and clean gym
Clean, great equipment, fantastic trainers
This place is awesome
Its like a resort!
Standard Cal fam fit
Nice gym!!
No judgments - positive motivation
