Cannot recommend this shop enough! Staff is friendly and inviting. My haircut and beard trim are always spot on. Have been going here for a year and not had one bad experience. Regardless of which barber you pick, Brian, Bear, or Mitch, you will be in good hands.

Took my son(4yrs old) for a haircut. The service was quick, professional and my sons hair was awesome. I will definitely take him back and recommend them to everyone.

Went in for a drastic cut, 100% 0 cutting since lockdown started to a mid fade and a beard trim. Excellent job, love the cut, exactly what I asked for. Place was clean everyone wore masks. 5 stars. 1st picture is before obviously 2nd is back to looking like a human.

This place is exactly what you should picture when you think about a classic barber haircut. Modern equipment, friendly barbers, and nostalgic decor. I cant imagine a better haircut experience and Ive gotten them literally all over the world. I could probably write 1000 words on how much I love this place but probably the best thing I can say is that it simply makes me want to get a haircut before I even need one.

REAL barber shops that employ REAL, LICENSED barbers are becoming harder to find. This place is a gem. They (used to) take walk-ins, the wait time is minimal, and all of the barbers are real professionals who do a great job, and do it quickly. This is a barber shop the way that barber shops are supposed to be. Miss this store!

A lot of people don’t know how rich the history in the Rochester area is. Typically people just notice it as an upper middle class area with some half decent (basic) restaurants and such. This barber shop provides some clues to the unique history and culture of this old farm town and it’s rich rise to suburban infamy. It’s also a real damn good place to get a proper haircut, by a proper barber, and for a very reasonable price. No need to go grab a forty five dollar taper-fade boozy side part hard part shadow scratcher undercut when you can just get a real haircut done by a genuine professional. It’s a family shop too so you can bring your kid(s) and they might even start asking you questions about skateboarding and video games. This place is part of a tradition that started long before us and will hopefully be here long after us. It deserves much respect.

I love coming here for a really nice haircut! Theyve made a ton of renovations and have really expanded their business since the last time I was here. They have a ton of chairs and even offer manicure/pedicure options in a private corner of the shop

I have be going here for a long time. Bryan. the owner, in the past work with the walk-in was last. With the Virus, walk-in was not working in 2020. He started using appoints and WOW. It worked. I have a appoint every 4 weeks...ok, thats the way I like my hair cut..but you set what you need. They cut any hair style and talk about everything.

It was the kind man with the gold or silver chain bracelet. I think his name was Joe. But two days ago I had the best haircut I have ever gotten in my life. AMAZING. The price is great and I am never to be disappointed.

I take my young sons here (age 3 and 6 now) as often as I can to get their cuts. No appointments so if there is a long wait I know my boys won’t be able to hang around too long so we don’t stay. But the barbers are patient with them and manage to give them excellent cuts. They do exactly what I request and they come out of their chairs looking like handsome little men.

He is the kind of guy that will snow blow your driveway before you head off to work in the morning just because he was out doing his and kept going. He is the kind of guy to hand you a cold beer over the fence on a hot summers day for no reason other than he had an extra beer. Just a real top lad Joe is. I will return.

Ive been going to Rochester Barber Shop since March 2018 and Ive have an outstanding experience every time. I just grew a beard for the first time in my life and the salon I went to before didnt work on beards. I tried out a couple of other barber shops that were ok and landed here permanently. I see Brian, hes outstanding. All of the barbers there make you feel comfortable and welcome. Top notch establishment!

So Im new to the whole barber thing but i have always wanted to try it and so i finally gave in. Searched and searched and decided to check out this Rochester Barber Shop... Not gonna lie i was pretty nervous. Anyway, sat on the chair and when he asked what i want i said you do what you think i should get. Just go for it surprise me... And soooooooooo he did.I gotta tell you Brian is the man. He did a phenomenal job. I absolutely love the cut and going to go back 100%.Pleasant to talk to pleasant comfy atmosphere and real good barber shop feel...If you ask me... GO HERE.

Brian, the guy that operates this place, knows everything there is to know about hair. I went to high school with him. I went in there a few years ago and I got the best haircut ever. Ive gotten haircuts in Brooklyn that were good, but not as good as this place. You can ask for a regular haircut and he will groom you as if you are going to your wedding.

Rochester Barber Shop has solidified itself as an downtown Rochester icon right there with the likes of Lipumas, Knapps, the Paint Creek trail, and cider mill. It’s an absolute must stop every time I visit town. The staff is so friendly and fun! They know they have something special going on and they show up knowing that it’s got a great social vibe where friends can be found. The atmosphere is cool with old school skateboards on display, Bad Boy and other interesting sports memorabilia splattering the walls. The whole vibe captures all my 80’s childhood memories they even have a Nintendo Punchout stand up arcade. Definitely a family place. The barbers take great pride in their work and there’s no hurrying you out the door. You can tell they went through great lengths to find the best barbers in the surrounding area. There’s really nothing like it. I thought it was neat to see some old Rochester and Adams football helmets on display. So I brought it up to the barber and then the whole shop started talking about the entire history of the teams and the rivalry. It turned out the gentleman who was cutting my hair wore the Rochester helmet himself back in the 90’s. What a cool place! It’s just good to see places like this in downtown. When you think change is prevalent these are the reminders that it’s still good old Rochester. This isn’t your boring old time barbershop either with outdated hair cuts. I simply told my barber to “make me look cool”. He laughed and said well that’s going to be hard. Haha. 20 minutes later I had a nice cut that made me look great for Thanksgiving dinner. I think the barbers name was Bret Hale. Funny fellow he. The owner obviously had a brilliant dream and made it happen. I was having so much fun I didn’t want to leave. When does that ever happen at a barbershop?

I had allowed my hair to grow out into a ridiculous mad scientist-like mess. I walked in Thursday morning and Nate welcomed me to his chair. When I told him I wanted a complete head shave, he didnt bat an eye and gave me a pate so smooth it shines. Excellent work - Ill be back!

If you consider yourself a man and get your hair cut a salon, you might as well have them wax your legs while youre there. If you get your hair cut at a cheap chain for $9.99, shame on you - you are better than that. The Rochester Barber Shop is one like no other; from its eccentric vintage chairs to its Rochester born and raised owner. When you walk in you will find men with suits on to men with skinny jeans; men with hipster beards to men receiving a strait razor shave. I drive 20 minutes every three weeks because Im a man, and men get their hair cut from a barber. Every time I walk in I find camaraderie, talk politics, shake a few hands, see some familiar faces, and of course get an amazing hair cut.

Amazing is the word. After Supercuts at Rochester Road had screwed my haircut, I took full 2 months to find out a very good and efficient hair saloon. Thats when one of my friend told me about Rochester barber shop. They do not accept appointments, and neither accept Credit Cards. So you need to carry cash. Hair cut is $14 (+ tip). I got hair cut from Brian (the owner), and he did an amazing work. He took his time, and did not rush through. I will visit them again. My suggestion is - Go for it!

I went here a while ago, and it was my first time. The hair cut was awesome as well as the atmosphere. When going to pay, I realized it was cash only, and I didnt have any on me. He told me to just go to the closest ATM (told me where to find one) and come back when I have cash. Needless to say, I gave him about a 100% tip. Very friendly people working there. Would recommend 11/10 times.

First visit here. I took a chance as I needed a beard trim. It is a 20min drive to Rochester and NOW I will make that drive each month. Joe was awsome! No list at all to sign in, and seating literally was out in the hallway. I didnt even bother with waiting, no time estimate at all for tge customer or order of who goes next. Would love to try again as I hate not having a local barber and I only have my son every other weekend, it says you open at 8am so if I arrive at 730am ish I hope your openish lol no harm no foul just wish ya had a waiting list so time frame was known.UPDATE:I had to come back and change my review, this place is legit. Friendly barbers and a great shop. Love the old time vibe. Thank you Joe and Brian for an awesome experience for my son and I. Definitely will be coming back, and early is for sure a lot better on the wait time. I waited for about 40 minutes but it was worth it for sure. Thank you for changing my mind on this location and showing me that reasonably priced and great barbers do exist in this area!!!!

Just moved here from ohio back in august and found this shop online.I always get worried about going to new barbers but this place was reviewed pretty well so i tried this place out and was pleasantly surprised.Had a short wait,barbers were friendly,and really happy with my haircut.Have been back multiple times since and all the guys in there are great.If your in the area and need a trim this is the place to go.They only take cash though so hit the atm before you go in

Worst hair cut ever. I was told they couldnt have a proper shave unless they shaved my beard off😂🤔🤤....howd tgey use tho shave you....not to mention I sar in the chair for 30 minutes and hardly anything was cut on top.
