I have brought my car to this shop on many occasions for an array of different things and they are always amazing! They are honest and do very good work. I have had other places that are unable to get a job done and Elmwood Auto is always able to complete a task that other shops can’t/won’t. I can’t say enough good things about them. Affordable and friendly, they have been a blessing and have saved me on more than one occasion. I rate them 10/10 without question and highly recommended them to anyone!

I am completely dissapointed with this place. They seem very nice, but they are DISHONEST. I followed my gut and got not 1, but 2 opinions after getting inspected by them. They wanted over $1400 from me. I went to two different auto/mechanic places and the prices were SO much lower for the SAME exact thing. They take advantage of people, especially woman. Do not come here. I now understand the bad reviews. It actually was sad to write this because I actually thought they care about their customers. Guess not!

Was able to make an inspection appointment with ease

The owners Jesse and Wade are very knowledgeable in diagnosing and repairing most if not all types of vehicles including sports cars and will take extra precaution if your vehicle has any aftermarket modifications. I dropped off my Scion FR-S which had several check engine codes, Jesse diagnosed and repaired it as soon as she could. I will be coming back if I ever need something fixing that I can’t do myself on either of my cars in the future. Labor rate is very reasonable compared to a Toyota dealership I checked with previously.

My heat stop working because of a leak. They said I needed $1400 worth of work done to fix it. I took it to another mechanic the next day. Turns out it was something entirely different and only costed me $255. They are a total rip off beware!

After many years I received the worst of the worst. Never was too sure about this place but it was convenient. The final time the owner said it would be 1200 to replace muffler system. Decided to go with them because he convinced me to bring car there already, didnt want to move it again. After the car was making noise and had a burning smell. When I returned it he act as if he didnt do the work on the car last. They kept my car for days, no call until I went in. Turns out the bent a piece that was rubbing against another part. Resulted in some type of leak which they did not fix. He only apologized and said were a small shop. Then why request a 1200 dollar job you cant handle. Stay off the drugs. He seems to forget the several conversations we had.. ended up taken to Brighton town line rd they redid the job with in day . Dont waste you time and money on a small shop that cant handle big job. Maybe if you need a tire changed or a light

By far the best automotive experience Ive ever encountered. Forthright in their technical knowledge. Speaking to the receptionist and owner was a pleasure.Truly what a family run business is, honest. Hired them to inspect a vehicle most in this area would not even touch due to its age and complexity. The owner personally offered his years of experience to inspect to his immensely high standards. His report was immensely elaborate, his discernible eye caught many important intricacies.I am lucky to of found such a kind and straightforward professional business. Thank you.

Charged me for core support,holds radiator in place.Could have put rusted hoses on radiator,instead left me hanging for them leak out radiator,Said ordered core support from China,We know not true! Part easy get with hoses! Blamed corona for parts not coming,I checked internet,easy order locally or from any state!.never replaced rotors,Put on old ones or just sanded em down.was charged new price for both rotors.was charged $2500 for work supposedly did, Subaru sat 14 days in his lot,with approx 2-3 days max have car fix.must worked on every car in his lot,left mine! Would expect a call say core support in and radiator lines as well.Would then have another garage put parts on! Had rent car 14 days as Subaru sat in lot not worked on!

Experienced my first visit this morning, I was impressed with thier promptness, quality of work, and pricing. I recommend this business highly.

We were on our way to Jersey at around 4:30 and hit a pothole. We needed two tires mounted and balanced on our German car. Called around to about 15 places and no one could get us in because it was memorial day weekend and they were too busy or about to close. We called Clars and they said they would get us in even though it was 30 minutes before closing. They stayed an extra hour to make sure we were good to get back on the road. Not only that, they held the bent rims for me so we could hit the road. Best customer service, highly recommended!

Truck window never fixed after leaving it there all day, 4 different times. No one ever called back with updates or to tell me to come pick it up. No customer service skills whatsoever.PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!Its unfortunate because I was so excited after buying my truck from John Clar that this family owned operation was gonna be great. Not so much.

I recently got a ticket for having a busted headlight and had to get it fixed within 24 hours to avoid a fine. The first mechanic I went to had no idea how to fix it so I called ahead to make sure that it was possible to get it fixed. The person who picked up was professional and told me to come in. When I came in, I explained the situation and the worker was very kind and courteous. I dropped off my car because I had somewhere to be and when I returned to pick up my car, the worker gave me an envelope with a stamp so I could mail in the ticket. All in all, it was amazing service and everyone there went out of their way to help me.

I left my car lights on last night so this morning, my car was not starting. Clars was right down the street so I walked there hoping to buy some jumper cables but they let me borrow a jumper cable with no hassle!! It was really nice of them to help me out at no cost. Will definitely be coming here in the future with car issues!

Today I had a wonderful experience with Clars Elmwood Automotive!! From the moment I walked up to the doorway and saw a beautiful Woman on the fore front I was immediately comfortable and the greeting that I recieved as I approached Jess was equally welcoming. Even Rob who worked on my car was a very cool experience he was very relatable another great form of customer service!! I have been thoroughly impressed with the service and the turn around to complete the task at hand along with a very affordable price!! I think Ive finally found a great automotive shop for my cars future care who arent afraid to get in there and get the job done!!😍😍

I am from NYC and I came up to Rochester for my sisters graduation. Upon preparing to leave the next day, my left drivers side tire blew out on me. I couldnt find any shop that was open late on a Friday night but just when I was about to give up, I decided to stop by Clars automotive (even though they were closed). I explained to the owner my situation how I needed to head back to NYC at 4am and he did not hesitate one bit to help. He gave me the best service and was so gracious even with the cost of the repair. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a great service at a decent price.

They provide awesome service. Had an issue that was difficult to figure out and they allowed me to drop off my car and pick it up as needed. They ended up working with me to get the problem solved. Really appreciated their help. And they never charged me until they figured out the issue!

Took my van in for an inspection and ended up needing some work - they were great - explained everything, got the work done quickly, and even stayed late on a Friday night to work on it. Would definitely recommend.

Ive found my new go-to mechanic. Came in to get my NY inspection and asked them to check the breaks another mechanic had installed but had been squeaking. They found that the parts had not been reassembled correctly. I was in and out in about 45 min., squeaking was gone, and they charged me a very fair price for the labor. Ill be bringing all my car troubles to them in the future.

I cant say enough nice things about this repair shop - stopped in because my car was becoming unable to drive - never met me before and they jumped through hoops to make my car safe and allow my Mother (80 years old) and myself to finish our long trip back to Cleveland Ohio - did a follow up call to check on their work the next day (almost unheard of for a automotive shop to check in the next day) and while we waited did everything they could to make us comfortable - Exceptional People, Price was very fair!!!!!!!

We are so impressed by the friendliness and consideration at this shop. Not only did we save money here, they found time (they said they did not have) to do some necessary repairs before we left for a long trip the following day. Highly recommended.

Adequate work, replaced metal fuel line with plastic (would have preferred to have been asked if this was ok with me) but the real failing was the motor oil black marks on my driver-side door cloth and leather, grim on the steering wheel, and a solid fist full, large fist full of black muck/mud smeared into my cars tan carpeting from someones boots. I mean - what in the world!?! Those stains never came out and thats really not ok

My heat hasn’t not worked for about 5 months now. We tried replacing the thermostat and waterpump and still no heat. I went through hell with this. I gave up, because I just didn’t know what to do anymore. I get contacted by Jessi to bring it in to the shop to be looked at. Within an hour they had my heat working full blast like nothing was ever wrong. They are very friendly there. The mechanic spoke with me about my jeep and Jessi kept me company while I waited. I would highly recommend taking your vechile here.

I brought my car in the first time and they said it would be done in 3 hours and ended up taking till 6 at night from 8 in the morning. the second time I brought my car in they said they were going to fix the horn and take care of the squirrel in the front end and the horn was still broke and a front-end still squealed dented up charging me almost three hundred bucks for a problem they didnt fix. They were nice though even tho they were a little unprofessional

They fix my tire promble within 30 mins with a reasonable charge. Nice and friendly service.

Ive been coming to Elnwood Auto for about 6 or so years and i absolutely love them. My car headlight went out 6years ago and i stopped here becasue i was literally in front of their shop and did not want to be pulled over. The mechanic actually changed my bulb for me and did not charge me which was extremely kind considring it was snowing and wasnt expecting to have to change a bulb. After that i started coming exclusively here. My transmission went out of that same car prolly a month later and the two mechanics at the time went above and beyond to find me an affordable transmission for the car. They understood people dont have money laying around especially for something like a transmission to be replaced. I did price other transmissions as well only becasue i dont trust mechanics as most have a bad rep for scamming customers but the guys at elmwood auto blew my mind with finding me the part and fixing it asap so i could go back to work.it took a few days and i was on my way. After that ive stayed with Elmwood Auto becasue i trust them with my truck. The office manager Jessi is amazing. She always go above to find me the best and cost effective parts when needed and shes extremely professional. Theyve really help me out when needed. I needed a battery once and she found me one that worked and was very cheap on price and allowed me to pay them later in the day as i had to run back to work and didnt have time to stop by bank. All and all ive been coming here for years because i trust them.. Great job everyone.

I bought 4 tires and was promised by the owner warranty on the tires if I paid cash. Then I recently got my car inspected and 3 of my tires was found to have a leak. I of course went back to store and ask for repair because I was insured warranty coverage. However after fixing my tire they demanded payment for the repair. When I stated that I was given warranty on the tires they said it did not exist and forced me to pay. The owner scammed me into thinking I was getting a good deal while forcing me to pay more out of pocket cause of their lies. I would avoid this store. People who cannot do their job honestly and at their bear minimum keep their own word does not deserve the business

Very friendly staff, fast work. I felt like I was a bit overcharged for parts. But overall a good experience.
