Came in as a new patient with my husband and Dr Peterson was very helpful. What really did it for me was after I had a temporary crown put in, my tooth was very sensitive. I didn’t call as I was waiting for my permanent. Dr Peterson reached out and asked if everything was ok. I was really surprised and let him know what was going on. He got me in the next day to fix my temporary crown. Very satisfied with the amount of service the whole office provides.

To say I’m afraid of the dentist is an understatement!! I’ve had some really bad experiences that have impacted my desire to go see a dentist. These guys are AWESOME!!! I have been 3x in the past few months and every single time they are so great. I am so happy to have finally found a great dentist!The hygienist, front desk & Dentist are all amazing!!5 ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I highly do NOT recommend for anyone to come here!I was recommended by a good friend to come here and when I came in the first time, I was told I needed a few fillings done, so that’s what we did.First of all, I received multiple bills in the mail for things that I wasn’t even supposed to pay for. When I gave the office a call, they admitted that it was a mistake. But that’s not even the worse thing about this dental office.I’ve gotten fillings done before somewhere else, and they’ve been fine. However, this time it felt a lot different. I’m not sure what Dr. Peterson did, but it left my teeth feeling a lot worse than how it was before going in. I couldn’t bite down on any food without a sharp pain. He told me it was going to be sensitive for a couple weeks. Which I thought was weird because I’ve never had this sensitive of teeth after getting a filling.A few months passed and I still had major sensitivity on my teeth where I got the fillings done. I scheduled another appointment with Dr. Peterson to get it looked at. After taking a look and taking X-rays, he said that it was fine and nothing was wrong. I told him about the pain when eating and all he said to me was “just wait another 6 months”. He kept giving me this “I don’t care” attitude. At this point, I knew I wasn’t going to come back to Dr. Peterson and I definitely wasn’t going to wait another 6 months in pain.So I went to another Dentist and told him my story. As soon as he took a look at my X-rays he pointed out at least 3 or 4 things Dr. Peterson did wrong. One of them being he drilled to close to my nerve and that’s where the pain was coming from. When my new dentist fixed them, I could instantly feel a difference. I ate some chips (which before I definitely couldn’t even take a bite of) and I didn’t feel not one ounce of pain or sensitivity.Do not waste your time in going to Dr. Peterson unless you want to take the risk in walking out of his dental office worse than when you walked in.

I came in really anxious, they were very good with me and explained everything. The hygienist was good, gave me very good brushing tips to help reduce cavities.

I had a bad experience at River crossing dental. My crown came off I called into get scheduled asap and was put off for several days. The tooth was highly sensitive and caused me pain. When I finally got to see the Dr. I was told I needed a new crown and build up this was a crown I paid Dr.P for less than 5 years prior. I was told it was warrantied for 5 years. I was presented with a new bill to get fixed by office Mgr. She was very rude and snippy with me as she had treated me in the past. My old crown was glued back on but before this happened I asked how much and Dr.P said Free hmm. On my way out I asked for paper receipt and office Mgr. Said I am busy and would email it to me she was extremely rude in mannerisms. I asked Dr.P and was given receipt again office mgr.extremely rude. I had seen Dr.P for 6 years but made this experience my last due to office Mgr. Professionalism. Office MGR.EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL!! MY opinion the staff makes the business experience good or bad! Office Mgr. Rude and unprofessional!

Marlayia (I hope I spelled that right!) is the best! She was so patient with me and has such a cute bubbly personality! She explained everything to in depth and detail. I felt totally comfortable to ask her any questions I had because she didn’t make me feel dumb like all the hygienists at my previous dental office did. And I just love that she offered up so much more information! She practically played receptionist and hygienist with me because she even looked up what my insurance would cover for various things - without me asking her to! Then when Dr Petersen came, he was super awesome and patient as well. I honestly have not had a better experience at a dentist office. I came away feeling like I just made a new friend and I look forward to my next appointment!

I was expecting this provider to be more family friendly and accomdating. Unprofessional to receive a text message 5 minutes prior to visit stating I need to have 4 new patient forms filled out PRIOR to visit. As a mom of 4 I do not recommend taking time off work to see this provider. My kids were not seen today. We will be working with another dentist that has its ducks in a row.

Im very upset with my visit. I went in for a cleaning. A nice lady poked my teeth for a bit and realized I need a deep cleaning. The dentist was nice and we talked about getting the deep cleaning. I was very happy with all of this part of the visit. But going to schedule the deep cleaning I have a waiting period with my insurance so I asked if I can get a regular cleaning while I wait the 10 months to get that deep cleaning and the front desk lady said no. That a regular cleaning would potentially make my teeth worse. They refused to clean my teeth. So I guess I have to walk around with unclean teeth till November. No way. Ill find a dentist that will actually clean my teeth! Im very upset with this office and the front desk lady. How can they refuse a cleaning? They are only getting 2 stars because the dentist and the lady that poked my gums were really nice!

Best. Dental. Office. Ever. Dr Peterson is up to date on all the latest technology, has excellent bed side manners, & really knows what he is doing! Brooke the hygienist is terrific & seems to really love her job. I always leave feeling refreshed. Definitely recommend! Thank you for everything guys!

Best dentist I’ve ever had! The staff was super nice and helpful. I’ve had a crown and and replacement fillings done by Dr. Peterson and they’ve all been awesome experiences. My one day crown visit was incredible. Love the new location as well. Thanks River Crossing Dental!

Experience at this dentist was disappointing and alarming. We had a friend recommend Dr. Peterson because our dentist moved to California. I’m not writing this to taint Dr. Peterson, but am really concerned about his qualifications to practice dentistry. Below is my experience:I’ve not had a cavity in years and consistently visit a dentist. During my first visit with Dr. Peterson I was told I had a cavity and needed to have it filled immediately. I scheduled to have it done and when it was completed I had more pain then I remember having with other feelings. The pain continued for about 3 days. I called to ask if that was normal and they said, “yes it can last a week. After a week, the pain had become progressively worse. I scheduled an appointment to be seen.Dr. Peterson said, “Oh the bite is a little off so I can fix that.” I allowed that to occur hoping it would easy my pain. It didn’t and actually made it worse. I returned again 3 days later and Dr. Peterson noticed something else he said would make it better. Again, it didn’t have any positive effect.I finally decided to visit another dentist to capture a second opinion. This dentist took X-Rays of my mouth and immediately noticed a large gap in the filling next to the tooth that was causing so much pain. Also, the bite was totally different because of that filling causing me to get headaches and be in pain.This dentist recommended we remove the filling because it had been done so poorly and he’s never seen something done so wrong and not even realize it. I had the work done by this new dentist and it’s been amazing!! I still have some sensitivity when I floss but it was a HUGE improvement.To this day, I’m not even sure there was actually a cavity in my mouth that needed to be treated. Additionally, this dental office recently moved into a new location so wanted to be sure those searching for a dentist had some insight into my experience.The above details are the reasons I’d strongly encourage you to:(1) Visit another dentist(2) If that’s not an option, I’d seriously ask a lot of questions and avoid having Dr. Peterson do anything but a cleaning.

It’s so nice walking into and office and feeling so welcomed! His new location is much more convenient and beautiful inside. Everything is super clean and neat. On top of that the staff is so friendly. I’ve never felt so comfortable at a dentist office before.

My family just recently started going to Dr. Peterson and we love him! He has taken really good care of us and we couldn’t have found a better dentist! We will keep coming here always!

Excellent dental office. The office ladies were so nice and the office was clean and comfortable. Our dental hygienist did such a good job cleaning my sons teeth. He had a lot of tartar buildup and really took her time and was very thorough! Dr. Peterson was very nice and helpful too! I love that they have the latest technology and everything is up to date. My dentist moved to California, and I needed a new one. My daughter recommended Dr. Peterson. I have a huge fear of dentist, but Dr Peterson and his assistant, Melissa was very friendly and kind, which put me at ease! The whole staff was great! A good experience!

Josh is the best dental hygienist Ive ever had! I booked on Groupon first hoping that theyd have immediate availability but was also a bit skeptical. I called in after purchasing and was told they could get me in today at 2pm. Upon arrival I was immediately relieved. The staff at the front desk was extremely professional. When I got called back it was Josh who introduced himself to me. He took the time I needed to go through my concerns and then voiced his concerns for me as well. The experience seemed like it was built around me. It wasnt rushed. If Josh ever moved clinics Id hope to follow him to a new clinic.

I originally had a bad experience at this dentist as a first time customer I was really disappointed. The dentist reached out for my 6 month check up and I told them I was not returning. They wanted to make it right so they had me come in and my hygienist was AMAZING! She was so through and walked me through every part of the process. As a courtesy they whitened my teeth which was really nice. I think the first time was a bad experience that they went above and beyond to make right. I will definitely be returning to River Crossing Dental for my dental care.

Best dentist ever!!! The dentist and staff are wonderful and caring. Very professional. I especially love the fact that the office is well equipped with all you would need. They have same day crowns made right in the office, a great feature to have where other practices have you make multiple trips back into an office to complete them. We live in Layton and will still travel the distance to visit such a wonderful office.

Really enjoyed our experience. Super chatty hygienist was eager to answer any questions we had (and we had many). Dentist was professional and efficient. Came on the recommendation of family members and we definitely would pass on that recommendation to others .

The staff (Dentist, hygienist and office manager) are always very friendly. I love the family feeling they have there. Also its clear that employees like working there as Ive worked with the same hygienists for at least 4 years. Heather is great! The quality of cleanings is top notch.

Unprofessional. Careless. A “don’t care” attitude

Filled my husbands cavity incorrectly! My husband was told he needed a cavity filled (still unsure he really did), and was in immense amounts of pain afterwards. They said that was normal, but my husband has a very high pain tolerance, so it was bad! We decided to go back to our other dentist, and found my husband had a huge gap that was causing the pain.They had to completely redo the filling, and they couldnt believe how badly it had been done. Filling a cavity should be pretty basic for a dentist you would think...Also they will press you every time to get the healthy start program for your kids. Even after we told them no several times, they still kept bringing it up.We WILL NEVER be returning to this office.

I love how welcomed I feel from the time I call to make an appointment, all the way through my visit. The entire staff is happy and friendly. Even with dental fears I can have a successful outcome thanks to massaging dental chairs, headphones, and laughing gas (ok for adults)! If I have an emergency I have been able to get squeezed in right away. That is a huge deal for me!

Overcharges patients. They said all I owed was less than $200 with insurance. Now they want $420 more on top they told me I was in network as well. Their office is old and outdated. Dead flys are hanging over you in their light fixtures. No TVs overhead to watch while getting work done. Receptionists are nice though and so are the dental assistants.

We love this dentist, both the adults and children in our family. They have a very nice office with outstanding technology and lots of high end services available. No more biting on uncomfortable x-ray films! They have comfortable heated massage chairs and Netflix for the kids. We ran into a problem with our four year old, her previous dentist did not do her filling correctly (it was a terrible experience, screaming, yelling...) but Dr. Peterson and his staff were excellent and corrected the problem flawlessly... and she wasnt scared at all! They even fit her in right after her cleaning instead of having to schedule another appointment! This is a great family dentist in a lovely office. They have had no problem checking our insurance and giving us a quote prior to any procedures. The only negative is they have limited hours for our schedule and it has been challenging to find a good appointment time.

Dr. Peterson is a great dentist! I felt so comfortable through my entire visit. He has very high end technology in his office. I like knowing I am getting the best dental care possible. His good attitude and great staff always make you feel welcome!

I got my crown replaced and love the in-office equipment they have so I could get everything done in one appointment. Its been a couple months now, and the crown feels great, its a much better fit than the last one I had!

Let me start this with the positive. The office staff were polite, the place has nice equipment, and I was able to set up appointments quickly. I wanted to like this place. I really did.Two years ago, as brand new patients, we were told my then six year-old daughter had four cavities in her baby teeth. Everyone was kind, the place was lovely, and when I asked them about the financial end of it, they were very cooperative. Then we went to get the teeth filled, and Dr. Petersen used the most expensive fillings possible. I asked, and they said, No worries, your insurance will cover it.Fast forward a few months, and the bill came. 360 dollars, because the insurance wouldnt cover the product. I called them back, and they were kind about it, worked with the insurance company and I paid a smaller bill of about 150 dollars.A few months later, the expensive fillings FELL OUT. I called the doctor, and they said, Yes well fix it for free. My daughter was tough, but she cried every time as Dr. Petersen drilled the holes in her teeth larger and refilled. This happened TWO more times after this.The fillings would not stay in.So the third time, as Dr. Petersen drilled out the holes in her BABY teeth, he got angry. My daughter was screaming and squirming, because he refused to give her any laughing gas this time (because of the expense), and the holes in her teeth were almost bigger than the tooth itself.Dr. Petersen gave up in the middle of it. His face was red and his shoulders were tense. And he just walked out, saying Theyre just going to have to go next door.We were abandoned completely. They didnt put anything on the tooth, like a temporary cap or anything, so my daughter was left with the root open to the air and in pain. The assistant gives us a pink Post it note with the number of which tooth it was that was damaged and the name The Dental Barn scrawled in pen and then they asked us to leave. I went to the front desk and asked the woman there for help. She smiled, took the Post it note, and went back to talk to the dentist to figure out what was happening. When she came back, she said that this has happened a few other times(!), and that I just needed to call the Dental Barn and they would take care of us.I made HER call the Dental Barn, because I was literally shaking and my daughter was still crying, and the very least they could do was call and set up the appointment.Because the dentist there was in surgery that day, the next available time was the next morning, and it was at an office AN HOUR AWAY. They sent us home, AGAIN NO CAP, my daughter still in pain.My husband had to take off work to take my daughter because I couldnt handle it. But from what I heard, The Dental Barn was very efficient and kind. They gave her oral sedation, and repaired the fillings. They had to repair another filling, because when they were drilling out the tooth (again!) the vibration made a different filling FALL out!And then The DENTAL BARN SET US A BILL FOR 642 DOLLARS because Dr. Petersens office had BILLED MY INSURANCE!In my opinion, Dr. Petersen does not have the patience to work with children, and the products they use for fillings are unnecessarily expensive, and they dont work. His ineptitude and inability to fill four cavities on baby teeth cost us more than TWO years, countless tears, and all together more than 750 DOLLARS.For baby teeth that will be falling out.Absolutely ridiculous.We will not be returning. After this experience, I would not recommend this dentist to anyone looking for a dentist for their children.

I have had several problems with this Dental Office. My insurance information needs to be collected each time and I have even needed to reschedule an appointment more than once because of that. I dont make it a practice of carrying my dental insurance forms on me and traveling back home to pick it up each time this happens simply isnt feasible because I get all my dental work done the hour before work starts.The main reason I have marked this so low is because I have had several of their fillings fall out of my mouth. I am up to 3. Sure, I could probably report this to them and they might offer to re-do the work, but these are my teeth we are talking about. These have to last a long time and if you have a habit of messing them up I am not going to give you more opportunities to do so. Its not like an autoshop where I would keep taking the car back until it was done right. Cars are fairly replaceable.I was also pressured into re-doing fillings in my mouth (an older silver-based filling) which never gave me any trouble. The dentist was adamant that the filling would crack my tooth and it was just a matter of time. I looked up the stats on small silver fillings cracking your teeth afterwards, and there really isnt a significant causal link as he was claiming. Free work for the dentist I guess.I took my business to another dentist whose work actually stays in my mouth and I am very happy with the switch. My new dentist even patched up the poor re-work the other dentist did. No surprise there really. I had been feeling the chipped out filling with my tongue for a couple of weeks, it just hadnt fallen out yet like the others. My new dentist even did it for free because he had to take care of the other ones simultaneously.In short, dont go to this dentist. Im not the only one with a similar story by the look of things.

Ruined my 2 FRONT TEETH!! I actually had to go to a different dentist and have permanent crowns redone due to the damage Dr. Peterson did to my mouth. $1250 lesson 😢😢😢 My sister had a similar story, she had a crown put on and it turned black. She went back had them fix it, and it went black again. She ended up going to a new dentist as well. Stay away from this office! They appear to have a nice office then be trustworthy, but Kelly the office manager and Dr. Peterson are the biggest crooks on the planet! They are also very unfair to dental hygienist, do not go to this office you will regret it!

Havent been to the dentist in 10+ years! I was terrified because of previous bad experiences at the dentist, and I went in expecting the worst. These guys took me in like we were family and were extremely gentle. I felt no pain even on my broken tooth. I do have a lot of work to be done, but Im looking forward to going back.

I have been to Dr. Peterson 4 times, and all 4 have been a good experience. The last is the one I am most impressed with. I broke a tooth on a Friday night. I had to leave out of town on Monday, so I called to see if there was any chance of help. Kelly called me back within an hour, and asked what the situation was. After talking for a few minutes, she told me she would get back with me after talking to the doctor. In about 15 minutes, I had an appointment for the next morning. I got there with my husband to find the dental assistant waiting for me. She took x-rays, and the dr came in. After looking at the damage, he told me I would need a root canal and crown, and that he could do it right then. Fabulous! It was done, and there was no pain or discomfort on my part. The Dr. and assistant and the office manager were only concerned with my well-being, and I was so grateful! First to take care of the emergency, then do the root canal and crown on the spot, with no pain? AMAZING! Thank you Dr. Peterson and staff!

The people are nice enough, but my insurance information was routinely filed incorrectly and charges which should be handled by the insurance company are passed on to me. Ended up going to another dentist just to avoid the hassle of fixing all the mistakes made with my information and billing.

Dont go to this dentist! This dentist is the worst! He is unethical, does horrible work, and over diagnosis to get more money! He cuts edges and performs poorly.
