Honest, fair, and does good work. We have been going to Diagnostic for 12 years. Were always grateful for the work they do to keep our cars running.
These guys take great care of me and my crippled cars. I feel like they are honest with me and try hard to prioritize my work. The reception folks are smart and super helpful.
They went above and beyond, repairing my car cooling system, by performing complete diagnosis on my ride, the price for replacement part was reasonable and the staff was amazing and laid back. Will return if theres another car problem that I cant seem to figure out.
Oh my goodness what an awesome place to take your vehicle recommend it 20 points out of 20 points the ladies there and the men there are awesome and great to work with they listen theyll call you and let you know whens exactly going on with your vehicle and give you an estimate before they even start on the work they let you leave the vehicle overnight if it has to be there in a lot secure place all I can say to the whole team there thank you so much for fixing and calling us about my vehicle it means the world that I moved here from a small town and I have found my mechanic shop in a big city thank you for being who you are an awesome team we will bring our vehicles back sincerely the Daltons family
Fast friendly and kept me in the loop the entire time! 👍
Great neighborhood mechanics.
Our car has 228,000 miles on it. We started hearing a few unfamiliar noises plus the engine light was on. Diagnostic was fast, thorough, kept us informed, HONEST, complete,......need we say more. Adding on many more miles. Thanks Diagnostic!
I have always had a positive experience at Diagnostic. For several years I have brought my vehicles and have always been treated fair. I feel like they watch out for me and take good care of my vehicles without over selling me on services not needed. Easy 5 star treatment.
I found this establishment to be very friendly and helpful. The service to my car was done effectively and in a timely fashion. I plan to go back again if my car needs repairs. I would recommend this establishment to anyone who needs any work done on their car.
After our vehicle couldn’t pass the emissions inspection, I took it to Diagnostic Automotive since they were able to fix a problem with another vehicle. After their diagnosis, Lance (if I remember correctly) said it needed new catalytic converters. I verified several times that was the CAT’s and not the O2 sensors or anything else. Lance assured mi it was and it would be just under $2100. Since that was about the value of the vehicle, I replaced them myself for $950 in addition to their $94 diagnostic fee. Unfortunately that wasn’t the problem. Wasting $1044 really hurts, but it is much better than the $2100 they would have charged. I then took it to another shop
Great service and knowledgeable employees. Communication about my vehicle and service times were great as well.
Went there for an alignmen after I put new suspensionin on. not a good idea.. they wanted to charge extra to set caster/camber. Went to les schwab.. took them half hour.. . No extra charges.. weird
Very helpful and informative. Cost a few bucks to get a computer diagnostic done, but in the end they cured a 5 month long problem I had with my vehicle. Will definitely use then again if I get a check engine light that does not go away
These guys did a great job. They got me in quick and my car is working great again.
From the moment I stepped up to the front counter, I was presented with very poor customer service. The two people at the counter were incredibly unfriendly and even seemed annoyed that I was there. Then, after they had done the diagnostic check on my vehicle that I had requested, I received a call from someone there so they could share their findings. All I got was Your transmission is bad. With parts and labor, your total would be $xxxx. I tried to ask some follow-up questions so I could fully understand exactly what was wrong (I dont know much about cars), how it happened, and what I can do in the future to prevent this from happening again. It was like pulling teeth to get any information from this person. I kept getting curt, short answers. At one point, I even explained that this was my only vehicle so thats why I was trying to thoroughly understand what is wrong with it, and this was followed by crickets. This person obviously did not care one bit about my plight. This apathy was echoed by the person who called a few days later asking when I was going to pick up the vehicle. I understand they need to be paid but, when I explained that I was having difficulty getting alternate transportation to this shop to pick up my vehicle, I received the same response as before, nothing. How this shop has four stars is beyond me given my experience with its customer service. The only reason I gave two stars and not one is because the work seemed to have been completed very quickly. However, the folks working here could stand some serious training on their customer service. I will not be coming here again and will recommend against people coming here.
Good service and good people that treat you right.
Probably one of the worst mechanical experiences to date:They were quick to get in the vehicle - which was great.I was told over the phone that the $85 diagnostic fee would be applied toward repair (it wasn’t)End result was it needed brake fluid- and a serpentine belt. We asked for a headlight bulb to get replaced.Total bill was $300We agreed to the work due to needing daughter back on road to college.Went and paid for car- got keys- came back with second driver (shop was closed and it was Friday)Car didn’t start. Wouldn’t turn over. We googled the errors- called number on storefront window multiple times trying to reach ANYONE that could come get car to start (it was a Friday at 6pm)Never got response so we pulled up some YouTube videos and tried several options (even jumping battery).Monday morning (they open at 8) at 9am I still had not heard from shop.(Had sent daughter with my car)Friend took me to shop where I asked them to please get the car up and running. They claimed it worked. It didn’t.I ran to work.At 1130 I got a call that it needed a new battery and it would be $200The battery was 2 years old. I was told to come get it and exchange it from where we had purchased it.I showed up at 1215 and the tech handed me the keys and I said I needed to get the battery out of it- he replied “everyone’s out to lunch” I asked for a tool- he replied “I think the cars running so you don’t need to take the battery out-Got in car- it started right up.Yet the original diagnosis was it needed a new battery. Until I told them the battery was newer. The front desk receptionist was abrupt. The tech staff were abrupt and the whole experience left me feeling like they were merely trying to get as much of a financial gain as possible. $119 to top of brake fluid? Claiming it needed a $200 new battery when they hadn’t even tried to jump the car? A hundred bucks to change a light bulb?Save your money and go somewhere else- somewhere more reputable/trustworthy. Somewhere where topping off brake fluid is simply “just done” out of courtesy and when you’re told your car is done and you can’t pick it up until it’s closed— make sure there is an emergency call number in case the car doesn’t starts- or better yet- take it to a place that gives you back the car better then when you brought it in.
Diagnostic Automotive is the only place that my family will go to for all of our car problems. We trust them, theyre reliable, and we know they wont charge us insane amounts for small problems. 10/10, we will always recommend them!
Zackary is a knowledgeable and kind man, fixed up my car well 🙌🏼
I’ve been a repeat customer for 24 years. I can honestly say the mechanics can be grumpy, but they are always honest. Often they’ve thrown in a minor maintenance issue found during service. So I know even if they’re in poor mood their work is the best.
Cant speak highly enough of the team at Diagnostic. Ive had two of my cars serviced there multiple times over the years. Sometimes just to diagnose whats going on and then I fix it and other times they do the whole job. They have always been quick to resolve my issues and emergencies. I can also state that they completely stand behind their work. Earlier this year I had my timing belt and water pump replaced on a 2000 Civic. This past week I noticed coolant leaking from the front left of the car. I believed it to be the water pump leaking and took it in to see if they agreed with my diagnosis. Later that day they called and said it was the water pump and that it was covered under their warranty. They replaced the water pump as well as the timing belt in case it was bad as well. Absolutely no charge!Once again, I can attest to their honesty and professionalism. Theyve definitely continued to earn my business and trust.
They were not upfront about their fees. I asked for a smoke test and was told it would be $82. When I got the bill not only was I charged extra for work leading up to the test, but I was also charged $51.50 to have a spark plug tightened. A SPARK PLUG TIGHTENED. Not cool, guys.
I found Diagnostic Automotive to be honest and reliable. They did exactly what they said they would do at a fair price. The work was finished on time and they charged what the estimate said. I will definitely use them again.
I work at a parts store (cant say the name here) and Diagnostic is the shop I always recommend if customers have issues that cant be fixed diy. I did a test on them by not telling them I knew anything about cars when I came in for an alignment. They were completely up front, taking me back and showing me what needed to be fixed and giving me a very fair estimate if I wanted them to do the work. People often ask me if I know an honest shop they can go to. I do. Its Diagnostic Automotive.
I got 3 different quotes from auto repair shops to do some work on a Mustang. Diagnostic Automotives estimate of $300 was half the price of the others, I couldnt believe it. Total out the door was $307.70, and they did a wonderful job. They have my business for life! You can trust these guys! Thanks Chase,
They are honest and fair. The work is always done right and explained well. They never add additional things and dont go further into a big job without my approval. Im very happy with the service and how customer friendly they are. I always recommend them to everyone.
I go to this place for most vehicle maintenance. They are upfront with the cost and they will not charge you for things they did not need done. They are especially great for the elderly as they keep track of maintenance and will help the to save money.
Under new management and wont be using them anymore!!!! Charged me to diagnose my truck and a hefty bill to fix simple drive lines. Failed it for ball joints and wanted 700 to fix them. Took it to another shop and was told they were fine and passed the inspection free of charge.
Been Very good to us. Good quality work, professional service. Great prices. They worked on my Pontiac Montana and now our Honda Odyssey. I recommend them.
We have always been treated honestly. They even advised not spending money on a repair on an older car. Amazing!
I would 100% recommend this auto shop. They checked my car out and it turned out nothing was wrong. They didnt charge me anything. Their staff is very friendly. I will be going back in the future if I need any other repairs done on my car.
Fantastic experience. Had a short in the wire harness to an evap control valve in the back of my 2001 Nissan Frontier. Dealer diagnosed the issue, and their suggestion was buy an new wire harness and $1000 later it would be fixed. Diagnostic Automotive found the wires in question and repaired them, and the cost was 25% less than the dealer, and much less than i expected. Great pricing, great service, and quick work. Ill be using them for anything I dont do myself.
I just had my car serviced yesterday. It was the best car maintenance visit Ive had. Dave and chase were awesome to work with. After the parts were taken out for my car Dave showed me what exactly was wrong. If I could tell after seeing it, anyone would be able to see. I really trusted their work.
They worked quickly and professionally. Nothing negative to say, nothing outstanding either. Price was as expected work was done on time.
Unethical and untrustworthy, completing unauthorized work and charging an exorbitant amount-still dont even know if the right part was fixed. Never got a diagnosis, call anything just a large bill. Anyone with similar situation should contact the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, submit a complaint and they will look into the issues.
In the past, we have used Diagnostic Automotive for our safety and emission inspections and oil changes; they have always been professional and friendly and completed the jobs in a timely manner at a fair price.Today, I took a vehicle that I just bought used two weeks ago to Diagnostic to help me identify the problem associated with a noise coming from the front end as we are preparing to take a long road trip, and my husband (who normally completes our vehicle repairs himself) is away on assignment; they were able to have me come in the same day, were able to drive the vehicle, diagnose the problem, and make the necessary adjustments right away.My father is a mechanic by profession, and between him and my husband, have always completed a majority of our car repair needs (but my husband is on assignment and my parents live back home in Arizona), so I am always a little bit leery of other mechanics, but I would not hesitate to recommend Diagnostic Automotive at all. Great guys!
Every time I’ve taken my truck here; they have fixed the problem entirely and in a timely manner. The only negative I’ve noticed is they charge a little more than other shops
We have been using Diagnostic Automotive for years now, and for all of our vehicles. I have lived in various places over the years, and been to many different shops, but they are easily the best one I have ever been to. They are friendly, honest, very knowledgable, and I have never walked away less than 100% satisfied. Give them a try, you will not be disappointed!
I have never had this bad of service. I will never come back here. I tried bring my 1970 truck for the clutch replaced when I got it back it the battery cable had been rerouted so it contact the exhaust manifold. Then I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. I had them install my fuel injection and got that back and they said that we cant Tune it. Your going to have to So I took it and tried. After trying for a couple months it turns out that there a gas and air leak that occurred because it was improperly installed. Now they want to charge me to fix it.
I love these guys! Every time I take a car there they call me and tell me it was not the problem I had originally thought, and they save me $$$$ Thought I needed a transmission once, so did they, as my truck wouldnt go in any other gear but low forward. They ordered a rebuilt transmission and were ready to go, and the mechanic found a small part that was broken. Dodge had had a problem with that plastic part, and now made it from metal. They replaced it, sent the transmission back, saved me a couple thousand dollars. Customer for life!
Ive gone to these guys 3 times now. They seemed very professional and pricing was reasonable. I almost rated 4 stars because they keep quoting me to fix other issues on my car that i wasnt there for. But cant really see that as a bad thing since thats what they do.
A terrific experience. Fast and friendly at a reasonable price. They really did a nice job on my Titan.
Best automotive repair shop in town we take all are cars an trucks here very personal and professional they do it fast an they do it right. we refer all of are Frends an family to them they have been taking care of us for years we can always count on them
These guys are amazing. I had an overheating problem with my Honda that a couple other auto shops tried to BS me about what it was. Having a little bit of mechanical knowledge I knew they were trying to scam me. Diagnostic automotive found the problem immediately. They did all the expensive maintenance while the motor was apart so it was all very cheap. They even finished under the quoted price they gave me. I recommend them 100%. They have a customer for life!!
Very impressed, they fixed a problem that was diagnosed incorrectly by another shop. Service was great, very fair, quick to repair and very resonable. I would recommend them to everyone I know. I will definitely be a return customer!!
Good work. Thoughtful staff.
Very friendly and helpful. They also did my work in a very timely manner thank you.
Used to use them exclusively. I have found they are good and reliable with simple stuff, but when it gets complicated its probably better to go to a larger shop. I brought my vehicle in and told them what I had done to trouble shoot. They did the same troubleshooting I did and then called to pick up the vehicle that they had given up on it. After paying their Diagnostic fee I towed the car to another shop down the road and they were able to find the issue and get it running. If its something simple, use without worry, they are honest and will do a good job. If its not clear what is wrong save yourself the hassle and take it to a different shop that will do full diagnostic.**Sounds like they are under new management which is consistent with when I started having issues using them.
Our family loves this place. A family friend recommended them when we were looking for a fair mechanic. We have taken in all vehicles (Nissan, Subaru, VW, and Chevrolet) with no issues. We did have problems with brakes that they replaced on the VW, but they honored the warranty on the parts. We bring the cars in for everything; repairs, oil changes, and safety and emissions. I love that I am treated with respect and have never felt like I was being ripped off or that they were just trying to up sell every service. This place truly has the vehicle and Customers best interest at heart, which seems so hard to find in this industry. Make sure to make an appointment for your service. They are very good about getting us in and back out on the road.
Brought my truck in for a diagnosis. They diagnosed it as a faulty fuel injector (which was completely wrong) and gave me instruction that I needed to run my engine for 20 minutes at idle then drive it an hour or do to retrain the engine even though it was misfiring badley. My normal shop diagnosed the actual problem and fixed it and proved the fuel injectors were fine but that by running the engine like that through the misfire could have ruined the engine. I simply asked for a refund for the $81 they charged me for the diagnosis and with two follow up calls about it over the next 2 months I still did not even get a call back and the last time Brad simply told me to consider the lack of a response a no on the refund and hung up on me.
I am a regular customer for maintenance and repairs on my Tacoma, Outback, and (crappy) Honda CRV. Parts replaced include leaf springs, radiator, breaks, & suspension components. Diagnostic has a great crew. Mechanics will test drive your car with you on a moments notice to figure out a problem. Good at scheduling, & turnaround times. Boss has been around long enough that he knows how to overhaul a carburetor.
They have the best auto technition
I had a headlight out, but when I played with it it would go back on so I didnt think it was the bulb. I brought it in to make sure it wasnt a bigger electrical issue. Turns out there was just a loose piece in the bulb, so it needed to be replaced. 3+ hours later and 60+$ in labor I had a new light bulb. I dont understand how replacing a light bulb takes that much labor... I wanted to support a local business, but I wont be going back here again.
Took in a used car I had purchased that needed some front end work. The staff was very kind and from a reccomendation for this company, I decided to leave the car with them. After checking it out and giving me a call, they laid out all the issues with the vehicle and left it up to me to decide what I wanted fixed. They even mentioned other potential problems and solutions in-order to make me as informed as possible, which I very much appreciated. At other places, I had only been told bits and pieces of information specific to the issue I had mentioned.Ive read other reviews complaining about the extra work performed, but Diagnostic was very upfront with me on if I wanted that extra work done. They didnt do a single thing more than what I had told them I was fine with. I imagine this comes from their passion as mechanics to make vehicles run as best that they can. To me, the savings in labor vs multiple repairs at various times, make up for it.Pricing wise they arent the cheapest but they also arent the most expensive. I would say their pricing matches their company very well and the quality of their service and staff more than equal it.They have been a small business staple in Riverton for over 25 years, and now I know I wont go anywhere else.
They do awesome work and dont over charge you. Will be coming back here in the future.
Dishonest !I always try local mechanics first! i usually find them more honest and interested in their reputation in the community, and in doing the right thing.I may have been wrong with Diagnostic Automotive.I took my 19 year old daughter to them to get a leak addressed, and it was diagnosed with a worn out steering motor, a $900 fix :(But we had to get it fixed, i asked them about what was involved, was told by the mechanic that they had to drop the back of the motor to get to the steering column, thus the 4 hours of labor.OK... i believed them (still do) thats a hard repair. When i picked it up the car was really loud, like it had an exhaust leak! it was a very quiet car before i took it in.I took it back, after they looked into it, told me that the engine mounts needed replacing!!! the exhaust wasnt getting a tight seal!!I told them that they caused the issue by the work they had done and they denied it!!!So blatantly dishonest, then they told me they could fix the exhaust for $200 EACH MOTOR MOUNT!! SO AN ADDITIONAL $800!!What recourse does anyone have on something like this? I guess to spread the word, in the meantime my 19 year old is driving around a car that is really loud and the exhaust stinks! And so did my experience with Diagnostic Automotive!(Bright side is that they did fix the steering in the car.....)
Great techs and advisors. Need your car serviced or repaired? Hit em up....
They always take care of me.
Amazing. They worked for 2.5 weeks on my truck. It was extremely difficult to find the problem and they were WAAAAAAY more than reasonable on price. They checked ALL KINDS of systems and rechecked things I had replaced on my whacked out GMC Yukon. Finally, it was something I had already replaced. I would have NEVER caught it. Thank you so much guys. I will be taking my vehicles back.
Terrible customer service by Brad the manager, and no response from administration. Complaints on BBB for performing unauthorized or wrong service then refusing to reimburse and/or threaten to remove the work done but still hold vehicle hostage for labor. The website has changed seemingly addressing the issues of complaint yet there isnt a person that will respond or directly address any issues. Brad claims the owner always sides with him INDICATING PROBLEMS AND ISSUES are not uncommon and basically bad and unauthorized service is a general practice.
Slow, but did a thorough job.
Very friendly customer service, really took the time to explain everything and offer suggestions. No upgrades or surprise charges
Great experience! They were quick, fair and very friendly!
Great device and knowledgeable people!
I have been bringing vehicles here for 10 years. Always fair and professional.
Good stuff done right!
The best in Salt Lake County!!!
