Please do not make the mistake of using Rio Grande Septic. They completely destroyed my back yard when they installed my septic tank . They never told me to move anything on my yard that might be in the way for them. Rio Grande Septic came in and totally left a mess in my back yard from ruining my trees that where no where near the area, broke my drip system lines, moved a big bolder rock on to my grass and left it there, they never moved it back into place after the owner Shawn Said he would send he’s guys to move it back. Shawn is very unprofessional. He is the one that should make things right for you not make things worse. They also removed my entire fence and broke it, after trying to ask the owner Shawn very kindly to come to our house to come to a happy medium to resolve all the issues he bullied us and harassed us numerous times . So sad that his employees are more professional than him.

I just built a new house, the septic and everything is working great, but I needed some questions answered about my septic system. I called and talked to Sean. He was not expecting my call, but dropped everything he was doing and walked me through everything I needed, even emailing me documents to help me out. He gave me his personal cell phone # and extended the invitation to call him anytime to help out with questions or resolve any issues I may have. He was amazing. It is rare that you get service like this and I really appreciated it......

Fantastic prompt professional service on a Saturday! A++ response! Sean called me back ASAP and walked me through a fix of my clogged septic system. With the filter cleaned everything flowing again. Arranging further service with them. Could not be more satisfied with their service. Will never use the other septic company that starts with an A who has terrible and expensive service.

Rio Grande got out a week quicker than the other septic pumpers I called. Robert Gallegos arrived on time, and backed his truck down a treacherous (“double black diamond”) driveway to pump my tank. He explained everything he was doing (which I appreciated and learned from), was neat and hardly had to clean up. He was also courteous and friendly. I highly recommend Rio Grande over the two outfits that start with “A”.

Called Rio Grande Septic to empty my septic tank in Bernalillo. Service was performed by Shaun. He arrived on time. Was careful to part the truck in a spot to avoid hitting a fence and trees. Emptied the tank and explained to me what he was doing every step of the way. Also gave me advice on how to clean the filter, how to extend the life of the septic system, and things to look for if the septic system shows signs of failing. Very professional. I plan on using them again.

I recently had our system serviced by Rio Grande, the area that the service was done was left muddy and debris was left behind. My pets brought the mud back into my home which was a bit frustrating. The service should have been done in another area and tech should have clean up after, I feel the way he seen the area is the way it should have been left when the service was done. Although Im happy to have my system serviced, the cleanliness could improve Rio Grande!

Excellent customer service! I sent Shawn a text at 9p on a Friday night because an alarm was sounding and a red light was flashing. He called me, had me send him pictures, diagnosed the problem over the phone, explained that the pump had lost power, and walked me through how to reset and test it. I have called him several times in the past, and he has always he taken care of the problem every time!

Shawn helped us with concerns we had with our system seemingly running slowly. He was able to determine that the system is actually working as designed just that there was a small installation faux pas that slowed the system but didnt seem to be inhibiting the overall function of the system. Steve of Rio Grande Septic Systems arrived promptly for an appointment to pump our septic tank. We asked him if it needed pumping, our household has shrunk and perhaps we could wait longer. He looked, said we could wait for 6 months or more, recommended longer intervals between pumping. He taught us how to determine when it needs pumping, answered our technical questions, and didnt charge. He was extremely professional, kind, courteous, energetic, and communicated well. It was a pleasant experience.

Rio Grande Septic Systems came to my home to conduct a septic system inspection. Shawn the inspector came to my home and was on time, respectful and was very knowledgeable . He explained each step of the process to ensure we understood everything. A week earlier I had another company do a septic inspection and they did not do a full inspection by digging and thoroughly inspecting the system and failed my septic inspection with out documenting in detail why it failed. I bought a house with my first septic system about a year ago. I asked Rio Grande Septic Systems to come perform maintenance and empty the solids. The serviceman showed me the tank, gave me some general maintenance advice, and said I didnt need it emptied for at least another 6 months or more. They could have done the job and charged me the full amount and I never would have known the difference. Instead, he only charged me for the time to come out. I appreciate that honesty.

We heard about Rio Grande Septic Systems through Nextdoor, and we have also seen their trucks doing septic replacement projects around the neighborhood. We had bought our house four years ago, and it still had its original septic system. Having never had to deal with a septic system before, we wanted to understand what work would be required when the time came to replace the system, based on our lot acreage, location of the current system, the topography of the back yard, the presence of a water feature nearby, and so forth. Shawn visited us on short notice to assess the situation and describe what he thought would be the most viable approach to putting in a new septic system, given the current code requirements. Shawn was professional, knowledgeable, and demonstrated he had a lot of experience working in some of the rockier areas of Sandia Heights. Had a new tank installed. They did not use factory riser that were made for the tank, used corrigated pipe to save a buck. Been fighting with them for sewer gas comming out of lids for months and all they do is come out and trimthe risers. Took off lids and found the pieces they trimed floating in the tank. Very unprofessional at what they are supposed to do and not clean up after they are done. Lots of dirt leftover that was my responsibility to take care of and when asked about it they want to charge to haul off extra dirt.Very uncomplete job if you ask me.

Professional, fast, and friendly service. I scheduled a few days out to have our septic tank pumped. The day before our scheduled service, the system backed up completely. Shawn was able to come out a day early and didn’t charge for emergency service. System works great now and we learned how to take care of our septic a little better in the future.

The worker who drained my septic was very nice as is the receptionist at the office; however, the owner Sean never returns phone calls and twice did not show up on days he was supposed to when I waited for hours. He was to estimate a new drain field. He talked over me on the phone blaming his office staff and septic truck driver for saying he would be out at certain times and would not even let me talk to try to give him a gate code to finally arrange drainfield additional inspection. I will call another septic company. I have no confidence in this company now. Who trying to build and run a business does not show up, then blame his employees, then not even let me talk to give him a gate code. Even at that final conversation when I explained he had been a no-show twice, he said he would ”try” to get out tomorrow. As I said, I couldn’t even interrupt him to give him the gate code. I will contact another company.Do not use this company. Worst customer service by the owner.

I dread dealing with contractors; its so often a pain. Not the case with these folks. On the phone, Sean walked me thru some things that could have resulted in my fixing the problem myself. Turns out that wasnt the case but he made the effort. He offered immediate emergency service, at a price which one would expect. I said we could wait until the next day. They were out the next day, pumped the overfull tank in less than twenty minutes. This is a well run, helpful, knowledgeable company. Couldnt give them a higher recommendation. Im a retired mechanical engineer and not all that easy to please.

Keith just came by to pump our septic system and he was one of the friendliest people I have ever met. Very professional, on time and did a great job. Nice to have such a friendly smile at our house accompanied by great service. Will be using these guys again!

Called on a saturday at 1 in the afternoon sean came by within an hour, the septic tank was cleaned within an hour or so later, i understood it was going to cost a little more since it was after hours and the weekend. he said he would come back during the week to save me some money but i needed it to be cleaned .good quality service and hightly recomended

Jessie is incredible, we are new to the company because we just bought our home and the septic system had already been installed by Rio Grande Septic Systems. I cant speak to the quality of the install or the system itself but the service provided by Jessie both times has been ABOVE & BEYOND the call of duty. Our first was an emergency call over the weekend, our system had appeared to be overflowing. We called and Jesse quickly came to our rescue, he took time to answer all of our questions and actually teach us about our new system. We have a filter that we need to be checking and cleaning and he showed us the full down and dirty on how to maintenance our system. My husband and I felt completely educated and empowered after Jessie very patiently walked us through the entire system.The next call involved my concern regarding the lid that didnt appear to be holding correctly. I had an issue with my RV. Instead of charging me to pump the black tank, Sean the owner, gave me some tips to try first. The tip worked to clear the clog, saving me money. He was more concerned with helping a customer than making money. A truly unique company. Ill definitely use them in the future.

After interviewing several septic companies to put in a new system at our Church in Placitas, we found Rio Grande Septic Systems to be the most professional, honest, skilled, and hard-working of all the companies! They finished the job on time, left the site immaculately clean, and worked to install a system that will last decades! Sunday afternoon and suddenly I had what appeared to be clogged toilets and noticed overflow outside around my septic covers. Instead of coming out and charging me emergency fee, I was walked through the process to remove and clean the septic sys filter. Problem solved and saved $200. What a great service and very professional. Can’t put enough stars!!!

Please beware of this company!! They are the worse company I have ever dealt with! The owner, Shawn, showed up without equipment to inspect the septic system. He left and didnt return for a couple hours. He dug for a short time and said he found the tank and the inspection failed because there were roots, and he said the tank would have to be replaced for $3000. Then he sent a bill for twice the amount of time he spent digging. The property owner hired a different company who came out and located the actual septic tank and pumped it at a reasonable rate. There was nothing wrong with the septic system. Shawn of Rio Grande Septic then filed fraudulent papers and threatened to fIle a lien against the property. Please be careful and dont allow this company to bully and harass you too!!

I have had Rio Grande septic out twice over the past month to complete two jobs - one a septic pump out, and then a riser installation. Both times I received confirmation of our appointments, the technicians were actually early after calling ahead to make sure it was okay. Fees for both jobs were reasonable, and everyone from the office staff to the technicians were professional. Will absolutely recommend. Thank you!!!

I called Rio Grande to have them come out and pump my septic tank. The woman who handled scheduling was very professional. I asked if the person they were sending would wear a mask and she assured me that he would. But when he showed up, he was not wearing a mask. Nor would he observe social distancing rules. For example, as he was leaving, I went to latch the gate. He immediately jumped out of his truck and said, here I can help you with that. I said, no, thanks, Im fine (because he wasnt wearing a mask). But he ran over anyway and assisted me with a ridiculously simple task, while NOT wearing a mask and he put himself shoulder to shoulder with me. Thats just one example. During his entire visit he came way too close to me. I guess the guy doesnt understand what a pandemic is, or doesnt care. For that reason, Im giving them a bad review.

I called Rio Grande on a Sunday Morning and Shawn answered the call as my septic system was failing . He understood my concern and that it needed to be inspected ASAP. I appreciate how thoughtful he about driving over my driveway too. The truck is heavy and can easily break the edges of a concrete slab, so asking me about driving over it was appreciated. Had septic pumped 11/26/19, every other company ran the hose with power connector to thoroughly wash down excess waste, and bottom of tank making sure no waste was left behind, these guys werent interested in proper clean out. The connection from one hose to the other leaked over my pavers, andwhile putting up the hoses back to the their vehicle, waste ran onto the driveway. Next time you need repeat service done on anything, stick with the companies that do you right. Wished Id of done exactly that. HEY RIO GRANDE SEPTIC, YOU SHOULD SEND ME A PARTIAL REFUND!!!!!! There was waste left behind not just water. And no, it WAS NOT CLEANED, I CLEANED IT. I realize you have to try to sugar coat your responses but, give me a break...At least be honest.

If zero stars were an option, that is exactly what I would choose for this company. they are highly unethical. The owner is rude, and a proven liar. They came to our house for a simple pump and the owner (Sean) came to us and was incredibly rude to my 75-year-old dad and in the most rude, tart, arrogant, manner said that our tank was cracked and crumbling and needed to be replaced at a cost of 2,900.00. I decided to get a second opinion from a very reputable company here in Albuquerque . The tank was not cracked or crumbling in anyway shape or form. The lid simply was not on correctly. The new company did install a new riser with a lid for easier pumping in the future. So the owner either has no clue what he’s doing if he thought that the tank was cracked or the second scenario is that he was trying to get us for a new tank. Either way please beware!

Came over quickly, checked the pumping station, identified and corrected the problem and pumped the septic as well. Saved me a ton of money was honest and knowledgeable. Will certainly call again for my septic needs.
