I tried to cancel my membership through the channels they provide but I kept getting misinformation. Now I am going to report them to the Better Business Bureau and will report any attempts to obtain feed from me as fraud. Also they were so rude and disrespectful when I requested the information to terminate member ship— if they had been this way at the beginning I would have never joined.8/18/2021: The response from the person at Golds Gym to my original post is just so emblematic of how disorganized they are. I started my quest to discontinue my membership over a month ago. First, I called the gym and was told there was a particular person I needed to talk to to end my membership. I was given the specific dates and times when she would be available. Alas, I would call during these periods and this person was never available. Finally I went to the gym and explained that I wanted to end my membership. A woman quite simply gave me a business card with the number to call to terminate my membership. I have called the number four times. Each time they give me a different email address to which I am supposed to send a message indicating that I want to terminate my membership. None of the email addresses have been legitimate. This morning I thought I had struck gold. The person I spoke to told me she was going to email me the address to terminate my membership. SURPRISE!! I received nothing. Ive seen this trick played before so a company can continue to bilk you out of money. However, the law is on the side of the consumer. The next charge I see deducted I am going to dispute and I AM FILING A COMPLAINT WITH THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU. When you deal with customers, your responses should be civil and professional. The response from Golds was far from this. But, then again, consider the source.
I attended this gym happily for many years; however, the leadership and overall management isn’t good. It’s apparent that feedback is not appreciated or valued even in circumstances that contribute to overall member experiences. My biggest issue is the kids club. As a parent I would often feel like I was taking a risk to leave my child in the kids club, and I terminated my contract with the gym after confronting a kids club staff for telling my son to shut up. My son specifically pointed out the staff that he alleged making the statement and my son isn’t a baby that can’t speak or interpret what he hears. I don’t believe all things my young child says, but when a staff member is watching my child at the same time she’s watching her own personal children, I can’t comfortably believe that my child is a priority. I’ve witnessed preferred treatment, staff confessions, and in my conflict with the kids staff, it was apparent that this is no longer the place for me. I strongly suggest this gym take a close look at West Chester kids club and model the standards they’ve created for their club.I will definitely miss the gym overall, but their is a lot of gyms in Richmond.
Inside is dirty and the women’s section has old equipment that looks as if they purchased it at a yard sale. I was so disappointed. I don’t care for the macho atmosphere in the weight section of the gym and was hoping there would be a barbell or some dumbbells in the women’s room. There are hotel gyms better than this one. Such a shame. Glad I didn’t sign up for a membership here.
Its a nice facility. Your experience is heavily based on who you interact with. Some employees are great, others sadly show that they really couldnt care less.
It has four squat racks, four benches (not including the incline and decline benches), and multiple places to do deadlifts. Also has dozens of cardio machines if thats your thing.
Worst place to go for workout! They going to rip your back account. Still fighting court issue with monthly charges. DONT SIGN UP !! Join anything else except this place!!Edit 8/9/2021> No there is no easy cancellation policy specially if you are out of town. Also, dont relay on reception always as they are dependent on managers to answer any question. I ask for cancellation but they tricked me Freezing Option and later automatically enable the account and charges yearly fees, late fees etc. Also one time a trainer tried to sell a Storied to get pump.. not a safe place!!GO TO CRUNCH or OTHER PLACE!!
Been going to this gym for years...the staff is great plus they have a pool, a sauna, lots of cardio machines, and several squat racks 👍
The staff does a great job at promoting a community environment. They encourage interaction with the employees and the other members. Its been very refreshing. Very professional. Clean. A positive place full of positive folks doing positive things.
Great staff and super clean facility. Been a member for years and will continue to be for some time!
I have been a member of this gym since 2003, Lynn and Bill make a great management team. my only gripe is maintenance and some of the up keep on the machines but wouldnt think of lifting at another gym... my home away from home... if youre serious about lifting, this is a great gym & atmosphere to get it in
The facility itself is good and the staff are friendly. They have exactly what youd expect from a gym. However the way they do business is a little shady. They neglect to tell you that at the end of your contract your account gets rolled over to a month to month account and youre automatically charged without them contacting you. I guess youre supposed to find that in the multi page contract. Then I also spoke with them about not being comfortable with going to the gym because of the pandemic and if I could end my contract early because of the situation. The answer was a flat out no and even when the gym was closed for COVID we were still charged because they had online classes available. They did offer to waive billing for the next month to make up for it, but as I just found out they didnt actually waive that months bill they simply tacked it on at the end when our contract expired. Overall the price is too expensive and its not worth having to read through the multi page contract to make sure youre not getting screwed over. Pick a simple gym and save yourself the headache.
I definitely recommend this facility. I had a minor issue and brought it up to the Lynn, the general manager and it was taken care of immediately. I really appreciated the quick response. Also I work out in the morning and I am always welcomed by Tay and made to feel right at home. Keep up the good work.
Told me they were “franchise” and that my pass didn’t work here even though I’d been coming to this location for a WEEK using my pass. Staff is poorly undertrained and the manager doesn’t care.
Great gym with plenty of equipment.
Decent Gym poor management and customer service in relation to cancellations. Out of contract they give you the run around to cancel. Provides me false emails and when I reported it to the manager she was no better. She asked why didn’t I cancel over the phone. Like I wanted to email inaccurate emails and continue to get billed and have to deal with a rude and dismissive GM. I’ll be taking this to the district manager.
Very clean gym, staff is always working to maintain and keep free weight area organised. Great equipment selection.
Visiting from GA, Im a Golds member there. Was told uhh were a private Golds gym and you will need to drive 20min away to a corporate one Whelp I guess Im canceling my other membership. A big middle finger to you Golds Gym!
This gym and its financial company are complete garbage. DO NOT BECOME A MEMBER. You will never get any real help with your contract . They will breach the contract and continue to charge you even if you provide proof youve moved out of the area. Terrible business.
Golds Gym meets my exercise needs very well. There are plenty of the various exercise machines I use with space allowed for safety sake. The people are friendly and helpful. The prices are fair.
The staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly and each employee is personable. Lynn, the general manager is exceptional and takes care of her staff and all of their clients. Highly recommend this location.
Loved working out here, awesome facility, great equipment, and friendly staff, however, canceling my membership to this gym was a nightmare. I went to the gym in person to straighten out dues owed at the end of my membership contract, I let the Golds Gym rep know that I wanted to cancel my membership after my last transaction processed for the ending contract. I was told by the golds gym representative that a note would be made on my profile with the payment processing company to cancel my membership after the final payment processes. Six months later, Ive had 6 additional payments drafted out of my account. When I called Golds Gym I was told that there werent any notes made on my account regarding the cancellation request and was told in order to cancel my membership, I needed to call the payment processing company (I was not told this in my initial in person visit). I called this number only to find that they didnt have any notes relating to cancellation on my profile, and that they couldnt even cancel my membership and that I had to email a cancellation email address to finally get my cancellation processed. They have made it very difficult to do something that should be very easy. Im frustrated because I was able to provide new credit card information to the gold representative in person and have that information updated with the payment processing company so they could collect what I owed them, why would this be so easy to do in person, but cancelling my membership be a multi step process?? Downright crooked...
Exelent
Super friendly staff, and great selection of equipment. Compared to other Golds in the area, it is nice to have a basketball court, steam room and hot tub. Its also pretty reasonable in price--definitely worth checking out!
Good equipment and great staff. Especially Keya moore for signing me up at a reasonable price.
Was looking for a family membership and met an awesome manager named Bill at Golds Gym Arboretum. We now have a great family plan and the whole process was seamless. I would recommend Golds Gym Arboretum to anyone looking for a gym home. They have something for everyone. Stop by and see him. He is great. My new best friend.
Wanted to get back in shape because this pandemic really got the best of me. Thanks to Keya for showing me around and welcoming me to your Location. I can’t wait to start!
This gym is amazing! Very clean and organized. PEOPLE ACTUALLY RACK THEIR WEIGHTS AFTER USING THEM!!! Keya was very informative and helped me get set up with a membership.
I love this gym so much. The classes are engaging and perfect for someone like me. The entire gym is spectacularly clean and well organized. The staff is always happy and upbeat. I wish every gym could be just like this one.
Ive been going to this gym for three years and its been an amazing experience. Its very nicely maintained, has a huge variety of machines, and my favorite part is the swimming pool; its huge super clean, and I like how they have the depths so the deepest part is the middle instead of having it deep at one end and shallow at the other like the Y. It also doesnt have a super strong smell of chlorine which usually gives me a headache at pools. The hot tub is a nice size and very soothing. Price is slightly high since a family plan only allows 3 people but worth it. They have specific times only for kids and the cinema gym is really useful if you forget your headphones and want to watch a movie while working out. They have a pretty extensive list of classes as well to check out. The staff is also super friendly and very helpful. Anyone wanting to get fit should try out this location!
I wanted to just give a shout out to Keya, Janina, and Gabby for helping me at the front desk they went far and above to help me resolve a situation that I technically should have had to take care of at the golds west end because that’s where I originally signed up. They are always extremely nice and inviting upon entering the gym and wanted to just tell them thank you!
If you are looking to get in shape for the holidays or before the New Year you should contact Chris Baker at Gold’s gym Arboretum. He is a personal trainer with the perfect combination of being supportive and kicking your butt. I’ve been working out with him on a weekly basis for two months now. He is professional, personable, and punctual. He is also concerned with your technique and preventing injuries. He helps you achieve your fitness goals and challenges you during each session. My fitness has improved in the short time that we been working together due to his focus on core training. I can say I truly hate and love the work outs. It hurts so much but feels so good to be making progress towards my overall health, wellness, and weight loss journey. Do yourself a favor and call Chris… you shouldn’t feel guilty about investing in yourself and wellness. It will pay off in the long run.
My family and I were so stoked about getting a membership. We exercised and swam a lot. We loved going. Until my childs safety was not a concern for the employees. My kids went to the daycare almost everyday. About 3 weeks ago I picked them up n my youngest had blood all around his mouth and on his shirt. I called the AGM immediately to report it. He assured that I was going to be hearing back asap. Well days went by. A couple weeks went by. I called several times trying to talk to someone. All I wanted was an apology and reassurance that my kids are cared for there and safe. But no. I got the rudest gm ever. Her name is Lynn. She Said to me that she doubts anything happened and that her employees dont ignore the children.Iv asked my 7 year old numerous times what happened n his story never changed. He said his brother fell n hit his mouth. He started crying n no adults came over. The adults were sitting down listening to loud music. Iv witnessed a couple times them sitting down not interacting with the kids across the room. There are no cameras and of course I didnt think to take pictures which was a huge mistake. So I am cancelling our membership n I do not recommend the arboretum golds to anyone
Dear Golds Gym Richmond Management:I went through the reviews, clearly Golds Gym had issues and gave people the run around before Covid19. Gold Gym do not use COVID19 as an excuse to not cancel memberships or ignore your customers. Or to continue withdrawing payments when you have received an email to revoke AUTO Withdrawals.Do not tell me how you care, or do I care about the gym. You auto withdrew the money and now I will be charge an overdraft fee. I explained I no longer worked at the particular company. You have ignore every email since 03-16-2020. No one response. You continue to charge my account.Gold Gym is not “we are in this together” Golds Gym is only looking out for themselves. They do not care what damages they cause to people. If anyone has had an issue with cancel their membership please post a comment. I would like to proceed with a class action law suit.
Will not be coming back to this location. I have a golds gym membership, and apparently its for Corporate locations only which is fine. My problem was the person at the front desk was incredibly rude, stated well you cant work out here, instead of at least giving me the option to use a guess pass. It was more so were privately own, and we dont want you here type attitude. I will stick with the Corporate locations were the staff is nicer and willing to help. Thanks!!!!
Do not sign a contract with this gym.In my first week in this place I experienced my first disappointment, they had a bulgar music, with obscene words and when telling the receptionist the answer was to use headphones like everyone else, I complained to the manager and she told me it was type oriented music Members who trained at night also told me that it was the decision of the person at the reception to choose the type of music. In September of this year it was the end of my contract, I went to the gym and talked to a gentleman at the front desk and told him that my contract would end and I did not want to renew it, he replied that at the end of the contract I no longer debited to my bank account, three months later they continued charging me, I call the gym and the Manager told me that they could not do anything and gave me a phone number, it turns out that if you do not send a letter they will continue to charge you for the rest of your life. This is a trap, do yourself a favor and DO NOT SIGN ANY CONTRACT WITH THIS COMPANY or you will regret it, some of the people who work in that place are not friendly, they are not trained and they give answers that are not true.
Good place poor cancellation policy
I have been going to golds gym in both the west end and west Chester locations for over 5 years now as a member, competitor, and former trainer...after tonight’s experience with this location... now I see why people stay away from golds, especially people who are new to the gym atmosphere and lifestyle. I was completely embarrassed and for a lost of words of how I was treated as a long term member, as well as a “potential new member”.I’m not gonna bash staff on here, but the sales representative I dealt with tonight was a female and I believe her name was “Keya”??? Anyways, between her “careless interest and her attitude”, I decide to NOT LET my friend sign-up here tonight and to go ahead pay the guest fee. Instead, I told my friend to just keep her guest-fee recipe for tomorrow and I will take her to my location to sign-up (West End Tower), where they will be more than happy to help sign her up no matter what...the time... or “person”.I would not recommend anyone signing up anyone(friend or even family member) at this gym, unless you know the staff “personally”.
Great location, and staff state of the art equipment and swimming pool
I have been a member of Golds Gym for the last 5 years. I started out with Eric Goodall, who was a representative. Under the new supervision of management, the quality of the gym has increased. The place is cleaner and the equipment better maintained and the pool was refurbished and the hot upgraded for safety..Blanca and Rock are two wonderful people, the gym is immaculate.I love the glass on the pool and openness. staff is helpful. Overall a great place to exercise.PatHartsock
Can’t wait until my billing is over. Don’t recommend this place at all!!!!!!
Yesterday, the gym owner was showing around a prospective member. She got to the sauna, where I was hanging out after my workout and stopped at the door. I could hear her say, This is our sauna, but Im not gonna open it cause I see Janet is chilling in there. Im really shy, so the fact that she actually remembered my name was really awesome of her. Im at the gym like every day but still... just awesome customer service.
Perhaps a better option for single people. Gym is littered with grunting lunkheads. If you have a family and childcare is a factor. Golds is a poor choice. Childcare closes midday for 2h during the week. Weekend childcare closes earlier (compared to other gyms) on weekends.Gym is average compared to its competitors. Some of the equipment is outdated. Bigger, and more areas for weight machines/free weights. It is apparent that golds gym caters to its main clientele: young, pretty/fit people. If you are looking for a non-intimidating, family oriented place to exercise, there are better options***edit: childcare is now availableMon-fri 0900-2030Sat-sun 0830-1400
From day one of signing up as a member everyone was so awesome. The gym offers so much whether youre a stay at home mom needing some mommy time, a beginner gym enthusiast or professional body builder! Im going into my second year here and plan on staying. Theyve welcomed me and so many of my friends and family that we dont want to work out anywhere else. Thanks you guys!😀👍
Ive been to many gyms but this one has the attitude of champions. I love the inspiration I get every time I walk in. The staff is friendly and helpful. Patrons are easy to work around or find a work out buddy.
I was previously a Golds Gym member at Hope Mills location in NC for 5 years before moving to Richmond, VA and Golds Gym Arboretum was the 1st gym I visited and immediately fell in love with the facility, so much space and plenty of equipment. Also, I had the great opportunity to meet Eric & Aubrey. These 2 guys were very friendly and showed great customer service that I immediately signed up that day. They also went above the regular customer service and introduced me some colleagues in my profession that assisted me in some new job opportunities. I think being a member at this location for another 5 years wont be a problem.
The gym is great and the regulars are friendly. I liked Golds Gym until I transferred to a location closer to me. Turns out the staff is incompetent at an amazing level. I was told it would be no problem and I would just have one more payment. Then I was charged a second time. They refused to help and gave me a number to call their billing company, who told me the gym never transferred the membership. I had to call the gym three more times to finally get them to transfer me, each time having to call the billing company back only to find that no, they lied to me again. I finally got a refund, but it took one in person visit, six phone calls, and over three hours of being on hold to get it done. Not only that, but I found out later that I was paying twice as much as some other members, even though I was given a special rate.
Its a gym membership, so expect it to be riddled with scams and charges. Esspecially with the personal trainers. Dont get me wrong, this gym is awesome and the people are amazing. Just remember to pay every month and to read your contract. Be sure to get a fair deal if you are going to go with personal training, when I joined he haggled me to a price I was comfortable paying, but when I decided not to continue they hit me with the 30 day notice and canceled the remaining days I had accumulated without telling me.
The only gym that has a pool and a basketball. Court.
Pros.Great work out arena. Clean, friendly staff. Great classes.Cons.More diversity is needed in the class schedule. I emailed a year ago on several occasions requesting a hip hop line dance class, no no avail.I also requested the use of paper towels rather than the rags. The rags are soiled with sweat and dirt. This is a sanitation issue. Its disgusting.
I am very well pleased with my membership here at Golds! The staff is always nice, polite and welcoming, and the gym is always clean and well kept. The membership price is great as well considering the fact that they have absolutely every kind of equipment, pool, sauna, tanning bed, free aerobic classes of all sorts and etc. I would definitely recommend this gym to anyone! 👍🏽
This is a pretty nice gym. It is mostly clean, has a good layout and a variety of equipment for just about any type of workout. My only issue is that throughout my 2 year membership, I have had a few encounters where the staff members were outright rude. Not only to me but to other members where I have witnessed or friends who have had similar experiences. This gym does not value their members.
I work in this area 6 months out of the yearSo I looked up Golds Gym and filled out a 7 day free pass. Thinking if I like it I would be happy to sign up at my location in NJ or possibly at the location i visited here locally. I train for Ironman pretty much all year so I typicallyJoin a club in a few different states.I even filled out another form once I arrived I was getting ready to walk in and start my work out when I was approached from the manager she told me I wasn’t allowed to have a free pass and I needed to pay $15 for the day on top of that she was very rude I would never join or go to another golds gym here or anywhere I will be sure to let all of the Tri Clubs that I belong to and let them know my experience
Equipment is always broken especially the weight training machines and cable stations. Even the so called new stairmasters have a do not use sign on them..an even bigger issue is the FRIGID TEMPERATURES in the morning. Lynn has disregarded multiple member complaints about the unbearable temp. This disregard for members and poor workout experience would never be tolerated at Westchester nor Gayton. I WILL NOT BE RETURNING TO THIS LOCATION AGAIN.
My favorite gym in the whole RVA area. Front desk people know me by name and always show mad love. Best amenities out of any gym all around. Pool, Hot Tub, Sauna, Basketball Court, Boxing Room, Studio you name it
Great facility, awesome classes(especially yoga), and friendly staff. My only issue is their communication through email and social media. The only Facebook account for “Gold’s gym arboretum” looks years old and has the wrong hours. I think updating social media, and posting about snow delays, special events, and all the awesome renovations to the gym would help a lot. Also, last night we got an email about the gym opening at 9am. We showed up at 10am, walked in, and was told that they were not open until 12pm. I totally understand the reason for the delayed opening, just don’t understand why an additional email wasn’t sent out.
Great gym. Huge workout area. Nice pool. Childcare is safe and reasonably priced. All the instructors are friendly and helpful.
I only have one complaint, as a relatively happy member who uses the pool just about everyday, I am disappointed that after many months of talking to various staff members, the insulation over the pool continues to rain down into the pool. Understanding that it may be a landlord issue, I would think there would be more urgency to protect the water quality. Otherwise, the staff is friendly and facility is clean. Please replace the insulation, everyone that uses the pool, hot tub, and sauna talks about this.
Been a member at Gold’s Gym for several years now and have only had positive experiences at their gyms...until I came to this location. I have on several occasions seen the front desk staff dismiss members from other gyms without even trying to convert them into customers for Gold’s. In these situations the staff is hardly courteous or apologetic likely turning a potential customer into negative word of mouth marketing.
I like the cardio cinema room. The class offerings are plenty and the staff is really friendly
Love the staff and friendliness of the members. People do speak to you and encourage you!! Ive been a member of plenty gyms and I find this to be the most friendly by far which makes for a great work out experience!!
After several years of being a member I got a free membership to a gym in my community. I called the location to inquire about canceling my membership, was told to come in and fill out a form. I went, was told by the gentleman at the front desk to simply fill out a form and leave it with him. I was well aware I had to pay through the end of the month. I filled out the form and left it with the gentleman at the desk. As far as I knew based on what I was told that was it. He didnt offer me a copy, or anything else. The first month I wasnt supposed to be charged, I was charged. I called they told me I had to call back a couple days later and speak to Wendy. I called that following monday, and surprise surprise they had conveniently lost my forms. Wendy blamed me for not requesting a receipt and seems to expect me to cancel my membership again, which would mean paying through the end of this month. I shouldnt be charged for incompetent employees, if I needed a copy I should have been offered one, you dont have to ask for a receipt at the store, you are given one. Ive heard horror stories of people being given the run around, and now I am seeing it first hand. Do not get a membership here, they will do everything they can to try and screw you over in the end.
Staff is friendly and I enjoy using their selection of equipment. A lot of their equipment is up to date.
This location is a franchise not corporate so they can’t accept your membership that you pay money for even though it says “any location”. Drove 45 minutes out of the way to this location for a quick gym session, totally disappointed. Cancelling my membership completely now.
Great gym. Super wonderful staff and awesome assortment of classes.
Awesome selection of equipment and fun, friendly kids club! Been a member for four years!!👍
Miss my boot camp sessions. Location was convenient, now too far from home.
💪 free weights, machines, and TRX available. They have an indoor pool, Jacuzzi and Hydromassage. Refuel at the bar with an assortment of fitness smoothies.
Been going for 3 months my one and only complaint is ropes, straps weights thrown around and disorganized, benches are always moved around...This makes it difficult to have a consistent workout....So yes imagine its tough to pick up after people...The trainers and front desk people seem idle enough to perform a little straightening!!!! It would show someone cared more!!!
Would rate a zero if I could. This franchise owner lists their gym as part of the Richmond VA franchise network online (mistakenly possibly, but probably a ploy to get Richmond area people to join, even though they are located in Chesterfield), however they are not. I drove 25 minutes out of my way, after work, close to midnight, to be told I cant work out there. Instead of Hey we understand the mistake, go ahead and get your work out in, we get that our website misleading, and maybe just letting me work out, I was spoken to like a child. I will more than likely cancel my membership to Golds in general after this and tell everyone I know about how I was treated. I pay entirely too much money each month to be treated like that and denied my work out.
Gold’s gym is clean and quite the facility. The staff, specifically Kia, are friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and professional. Best gym in the area.
Tried to join the other week. Stood at the front desk for at least 10-15 minutes without being greeted. Another guest came up about halfway through and stood around waiting for the towel. Some staff appeared to be having a pow wow in the office nearby with glass windows. I was clearly visible and still no one came out to help me. Not a great start to my experience at Golds Gym. Staff at both Gayton Crossing and Westchester MUCH friendlier.I dont expect a red carpet to be rolled out but at least a hey can I help you with anything? Wouldve been nice.
Decent gym and the people that work there will try and trick you into a contract
Greetings GGX Nation! I have had the honor of being a member at this gym for almost two years, and I must say that I have had an incredible experience. The staff is always welcoming and willing to acclimate anyone to the gym and all that it has to offer. Also the staff members seem like old friends--Carlos, Aubrey, Eric, Jason-- always willing to whip you into shape and ready to make you feel at home. There is no other gym that I could imagine being a member of. And oh, I didnt even talk about my results!! Im prepping to for fitness competitions and I WILL NOT train at any other gym other than Golds Gym Arboretum. The best place to be!! This location is my second home. I need to move a bed and nightstand in there! LOL
I have been going to the Arboretum and West End location for over a year now. The front desk staff is always very friendly and although the West End has more equipment choices, both locations have everything you need. I also appreciate that you can tell they make an effort to keep things clean.
This is a convenient location for me and its ample space. Im most concerned about small children using the hot tub. In Dec 2017 the signs for the hot tub, telling users that children under 14 are Not allowed in hot tub, were removed. Its now been 3 months and still no sign. In addition to that, the Pool Rules signs were taken down. I was told that marketing was creating new signs. Who cares what the signs look like, just make sure they are visible! Since that time, Ive seen small children in the hot tub at least 4 times. It worries me that these childrens body temp will rise so high that they may get sick or they may drown. Most of the time the parents allow it or are on their phone and not monitoring the kids. I was told by management to call them any time I see children in the hot tub. THATS NOT MY RESPONSIBILITY. If they dont have signs up then they are asking for a law suit. They should have someone on staff in pool area 24/7.Also I was in the pool area a week or 2 ago and I kept hearing loud banging on the ceiling. Then flakes of white unidentified substance was falling down. I called the manager at front desk and asked them to come back to pool area. I asked them what the loud noise was. They said that there are workers on the roof. Then I asked what the white flakes were falling from ceiling. They both looked at each other and shrugged their shoulders and answered I Dont Know. I said is it safe for the people in here to breath in? Still I got the same puzzled look and they said they didnt know. Instead of saying I dont know, why didnt they say they would find out and report back? I immediately left, flakes in my hair, and all.. I told them that it would be wise to put signs up stating that roof work was being done and assure members that the white flakes falling down was either dangerous or safe. Dont members deserve to know? It blew me away how non chalant both managers were!
I just signed up for the gym membership and spent almost a hour with the personal trainer manager trying to convince me to get a contract with a personal trainer Beware of sales tactics !! I will be canceling and it hasn’t even been 60 days yet
Most difficult time cancelling the membership. I have been a member of different Golds Gym franchises, and this location has been the worst ever. I strongly recommend looking at other locations!
I was told when signing up that the arboretum had shortened hours some days but the other locations in the area that were actually 24/7. Turned out thats a lie. They should stop advertising it as 24 hours if its really not... Not to mention a lot of the new staff there are actually pretty rude and dismissive when it comes to their clients. Overall though it sucks when you get off work and some days you cant even go to the gym like you planned to. Whats the use of that? Ill be switching to PF at the end of my membership. I love the equipment and set up at Golds but the hours arent convinient .
Love my classes every week! Staff is always nice! Remodeling is looking good! Love my gym!!!
They wont let me cancel my membership because I am one mile short from being able to cancel. Now they wont cooperate with me in canceling and they have taking money from me in the ranges of $25-$100. I literally live an hour away from them. Not cool and wont ever be a member again.
Its cool.. Could use more benches in the free weight section. Maybe expand that area altogether as it seems to be the most crowed by far
This gym is amazing, they cater all your needs to be in good in good shape.
I came in to try out this gym with a friend on august 1st at 5:30amto see if i wanted to join. Morning clerk at front desk was extremely rude! Good equipment, but terrible customer service! I was about to join this gym until this experience.
Gym is amazing but the staff not so much. One of the managers was insanely rude when he realized I joined an adjacent location only because I was given a better deal.
It is alright ! People not that friendly men locker room could be cleaner . Staff dont even speak . Oh well I do work out & leave .
Love this gym! So clean and the employees are always nice!
Its all fun and games then you hear them say Taft Services. This gym might be for you but dont let them swindle you into that contract until you are sure. Was told I would be able to cancel my membership if I signed today for a fee in case I moved, but what they really mean is you can fight through Taft Services and spend the rest of your contract wondering why these people would seem so helpful then suddenly write you off. Their membership and billing is dealt with by a third party company and after pulling enough teeth they gave me their number and 100 more hoops to jump through. If you dont plan to move I guess go for it but say goodbye to 2 years of money if you dare.
I love this gym!! It has great customer service, great people, alot of positive feedback. Great shakes!! Nice and clean environment. Alot of space alot of equipment. I really enjoy being a member of Golds Gym!!😀
Tried to bargain down prices over the phone for a yearly membership. It was really weird and seemed unprofessional. Ultimately didn’t join because I felt uncomfortable with it all.
This gym is awful. Its dirty, the fan blades have an inch of dust on them, the wipe down rags are always filthy and not changed nearly enough, the mats are never wiped down by the staff. Equipment is left broken in the corner for months at a time, the machines have never been calibrated since it opened. If you tell the staff something is broken, they write it down but nothing is ever done. This place is terrible, take your money and go anywhere else but just not here!
Great gym. Clean facility, friendly people, and good environment.
The equipment here is good, and I have no problem with the trainers, but the management is terrible. I filed a request to freeze my membership due to cancer recovery, and 4 months later, they were still charging me because it hadnt been processed yet.
I’m having trouble cancelling the membership . This is really a inconvince that I have to email someone to cancel the membership that I signed up for in person . I still haven’t got my cancellation letter and I do not want to renew again or pay anymore because I don’t have the funds because I had a baby a couple months ago and I don’t have time to go to the gym . I just wish I never signed up because this is a terrible process . The membership shouldn’t automatically renew if it was a two year contract ! I just want to cancel and be done with not get charged again for something I don’t want and keep trying to get rid of !!!!!!
Not a very professional facility, there are many other facilities that carry themselves with a little more quality for cheaper. I have kept my membership here for years and just looked past all of the small issues because everybody needs a chance to make things right, but after being charged annual dues and to not see it go into much to maintain the utilities in the gym I am considering switching memberships.
Everyone so nice and the gym always clean
Ok this review is based on being a member at this facility long before Golds Gym took over. At first this facility was top of the class. Since then, not so much. The only reason I continue with this gym is because I live so close. Here are some of the things you can expect at this location:1 - People use the locker room as if it is their personal locker room. They put locks on the cabinets and leave them on there all of the time. There used to be a policy that locks would be removed. However, this is never done. I have seen the same locks on the same lockers for months.2 - If it rains expect to see many leaks. It even leaks on you while you work out.3 - The hot tub has been cold on many occasions. If this was just a one time thing I could understand. However, I have tried to use the hot tub on several occasions only to find out that it’s not hot. I have told the front staff and ofcoarse nothing was done. The next day sill cold.4 - Equipment is broken all over the place. I like to play a game and count how many pieces of equipment I pass during my workout that is broken. Some have signs, others are just left for you to figure out. All members pay yearly maintenance fees. Where does this go? Bonuses for upper management? JK, bust seriously where does it go?5 - Raquetball? Yeah forget about that now. There used to be 3 courts. Now? Zero. But, the good news is if you like basketball you have no worries. The clientele they want at this gym is pretty obvious.I could probably continue ranting, but at this point the review speaks for itself. I’m sure I will get a reply stating: “ I’m sorry for your troubles. Our staff are working hard at addressing your issues”. That’s great and all. However, I have been a member here longer than just about anyone that works there. I know nothing gets done. I will continue to go to this gym only because I don’t have time to drive to other locations. However, until things change I would never recommend this location to friends or family members. I hope that you prove me wrong and fix your issues.
Best fym by far in this area.
Great place... Lots of equipment... Friendly staff... 2 year agreement too long and not easy to get out of it.
