I wanted to update my review because Paradise Garage just saved me almost $900 in costs for repairs fraudulently required by a consignment dealer when I put my car up for sale. I wound up spending $250 with Paradise Garage instead of $1100 with the dealers mechanic.Paradise Garage has been my go-to auto mechanic for more than 10 years and Ive never had a bad experience. When I visit there I have confidence that Ill be treated fairly and honestly, and that theyll explain every item in the estimate before doing the work and charging me. Ive recommended Paradise Garage to many people over the years and have never had bad word come back to me.Paradise Garage is a Fan District classic, like Kuba Kuba, Joes Inn, or Lombardy Market, one of the little gems that makes the neighborhood special.

My insurance towed and dropped off my car after a flat tire because this place was the closest to me. Turns out they don’t do tires. But they still filled the air for me and checked that my tires were all good! I was looking for a good place to do my car maintenance so I’ll probably return here from now on. Thank you again!!!!

Chill, honest, and very reasonably priced.Very knowledgeable and professional as well.They let you use your own pieces you bring in too!Only got charged $150 for an alternator repair, bringing my own in. Other shops were straight up refusing to use my part and trying to charge me between 300-400Definitely gonna be my Go-To shop!

They charge too much. No reason whatsoever that an oil change for a 4cylinder honda should run me over $70... with off brand oil too... THATS INSANE. Honda is cheaper than that. NEVER COMING BACK!

Made an appt for a state inspection, receptionist said everyone was out to lunch and it would take two hours. The owner stepped in and took care of it in 30 min, he also helped to replace my tags. Really sweet.

Had my state inspection done here, they were really nice and honest. Never tried to upsell me anything, NTB always tries to sell you new tires even when youre still comfortably passing the standard, but these guys dont.Ive heard a lot of good things about this place so I had them do my inspection, many places find random things wrong with your car that may or may not need fixing, but Paradise seems to be straightforward.

My sister has a Honda CR-V for which the ABS Modulator had gone bad. She tells me the guys at Paradise Garage were honest, helpful, and at no point did she fee like the techs were being condescending. Finding a good mechanic is a lot like finding a good barber. Had a friend that is a mechanic find and fix my abs issue right off the bat. The issue was a bad abs wire. This shop was going to replace my abs module when it was perfectly fine. Long story short, I ordered my own part because they were going to charge me over $300 for a part. My part was not correct. Then when they ordered their part theirs was not correct. I was charge $450 for labor + diagnosis that wasnt even right. They did not even bother with a discount after not buying the right part. Will never recommend this place to anyone. Especially frustrating finding out now that they didnt even do a proper diagnosis for an abs wire that was only $70. They also charge extra labor if you do not use their part

I love this place, I cant say enough about it. Its been difficult to find a good, honest garage to take my car to that isnt ridiculously expensive and this place is all of those things. Ive been coming here for two years, they never over charge me, never ask me to fix something that isnt wrong with my car, and are always friendly and the turnaround is good. They also get a ton of business because of this, which is proof that being dependable and honest and caring about your customers instead of preying on them is an excellent business practice.

Not only are the mechanics honest and fair, but their prices are reasonable and they call you before they do anything to make sure that you approve.Point blank.... I HIGHLY recommend this garage!!!!

They passed my car for inspection and within a week my brake pads had completely worn through, and shortly after that my calipers were completely shot. I then had come back two weeks after my inspection to check the alignment being that I thought it was an alignment issue, was told by the person at the front desk that they dont do alignments, and was referred to another place that does, who then told me that they were surprised that I had been passed for inspection.

I love Paradise Garage. I went here for an oil change and an inspection. First of all, my oil change was nice and cheap - $20. Soon after my inspection, my car was broken into and someone stole my inspection sticker (weird, I know). I called Paradise and asked if they would give me a new sticker. They asked me to bring it in, and gave me a new sticker, no charge. Really great work and fantastic prices. I called recently because I had a flat tire and even though they dont do tire work, they called me back and gave me the number to an awesome used tire shop - Vonderlehr. Highly recommend! They will not swindle you.

I love this Garage. They have always given me great service at a cost well below what I heard from other garages. This is my now the only garage I use in Richmond.Theve also been surprisingly fast despite the fact that they always seem super busy.Also I read the 1 star review and frankly Im willing to bet $100 that they offered to not charge that customer. I can understand that customers surprise but even the price she quoted seems ridiculously low and they probably saved her from a $200 ticket.

Took my car twice to this place. First time had a problem with the engine. They diagnosed the problem correctly and did some fixes but not charged me for that, only diagnose! The staff is really nice and very trustworthy. Definitely recommend this place!

We are a band and we were touring the country in a minivan that had something wrong with it. No other mechanic could figure it out until we got here. Paradise figured it out and was extremely nice and helpful. They also charged us very fairly. I wish they were in Texas! (Our main emission cool had a bunch of cracks in it, that was the problem) Oh, and they have a pool table to play on while you wait.

I was a mechanic for a long time and own my stores as well. These guys are the real deal. Kind of the equivalent of the country doctor bedside manner. I had a very unique 63 dune buggy and he had to actually make the parts himself and make it happen I honestly do not think I could have found anyone else who would have gotten it done. Greg is nice guy. stayed late on a Friday to finish for me as well. I cant say enough

My tire had a real bad slow leak so I took it to Paradise thinking I was going to have to get a whole new tire but not only were they able to patch it, they had it done within an hour, even though they were really busy. Normally I get scammed by corporate auto shops into spending so much money because they wanna fix everything thats wrong and not wrong with the car but with Paradise I was in and out for $15. LOVE YALL

Ive been bringing my car and my wifes truck to Greg at Paradise Garage for 5 or 6 years for oil changes, inspections and general work and have always had a good experience. They’re older vehicles but Greg keeps them running for us! Paradise know their stuff, they dont overcharge, and they dont try to press any phony repairs on you that arent necessary.I recently had a major transmission issue in my WRX and they did good work and charged me a very reasonable price. Additionally, Greg went to great lengths to ensure that I got what I paid for even when the first used transmission he found wasn’t up to par. When I look for a mechanic, I don’t want the guy who feels like he has to call me after an inspection before putting in a brake light, I want a mechanic working on my car who takes pride in the quality of his work and is going to treat me right when it really matters.

I came in at the end of the day and Greg fixed an electrical problem with a fan in 10 minutes. I was in from out of town and wasnt going to be a regular customer, but Greg was kind and fixed an electrical problem and got my car back in shape to go home in 15 minutes. Great experience.

Gregs seriously an awesome guy. I blew a tire, which Paradise doesnt do, but he jacked my car up at his shop all day while I got it fixed, recommended me to Richard at Vonderlehr Tire (also a fine gentleman), and helped me replace and tighten the new tires free of charge. DONT EVER GO TO MERCHANTS without checking this place out first. Get treated like a person, not a tool.

Needed a steering pump, then a hose, oh then a steering assist(wich is discontinued, sorry!)$900 later the car drives just as bad as before.

Choose Paradise based on friends recommendation, online reviews, and location. I had a another garage i usually used but due to its location its no longer convenient. Went in for brake pad replacement. Got the pads and rotars replaced for $50 less than a quote from a downtown competitor that only included pad replacement. Cant beat that. Friendly staff.

I took my car in for a state inspection and they charged me $10 in labor to replace a brake light without asking me first. I paid for it and let them know I wasnt happy but it was a bad move on their part because I was checking them out to see if they would be my new mechanic. If anyone has ever replaced a bulb then you know it takes about 90 seconds. I know that doesnt seem like a big deal but I think it is a bad sign and not a good start to a relationship (car owner+mechanic). They were almost friendly for mechanics and fairly prompt but I get the feeling like they are the type of place that will cheat you. I dont trust them and now I very much doubt the positive reviews out there. They might be from customers who have not realized theyve been ripped off.
