Its a nice n fancy community and the management members Caleb, Makaila n Thy are so understanding n helpful, also KJ from the support team is so supportive n helpful whenever there are complicated maintenance issues.. but unfortunately its a noisy community where its hard to relax or have a good sleep without being disturbed especially by the basketball area which is made surrounded by buildings from 4 sides and is open after 7pm while its not an access controlled so we hear a thunder noise 24/7.. I hope it could be closed or moved.. in addition there is no night security and the curtesy officer doesn’t answer the calls.. the office phones and emails are never answered, bad wifi signal, and water pressure is so slow..
This is the worst apartment place ever! They are towing rental cars with people that bought a parking pass. (Over 200$ btw for the year) They kindly tell them and the towing company that Northside ALLOWS to do this has the attitude of “sorry can’t help you” and it’s 300$ to get it out. On top of that, we’ve had to put in THREE requests for our A/C and they would come in DAYS later (almost all companies HAVE to come as soon as you put in the request no matter the time). We’ve put in two requests for our lights and it took them three weeks to fix and it’s still flickering. We have marks on our walls, chairs, tables, etc when we moved in. I have a hole in my door and in the bathroom door. The microwave blew and they still haven’t came. The “valet” trash only comes 5 days a week and most of the time they don’t even come. There’s TRASH everywhere outside because people here have so much trash that the workers don’t pick up that they have to put it near the place right next to our porch. “The gated community” is just two sticks. Not a gate.
Two stars is honestly being a little nice. The actual apartments are nice. But the way this apartment is managed is terrible. Our buildings elevator has been broken basically all summer. Along with having to climb the stairs every day, my AC stopped working in the middle of august. Filled a work order, emailed, and called several times. No one ever answered the resident services line. After a few days of having to stay with my parents because of the unbearable heat, i decided to drive back so i could try to get help in person. Thankfully that worked. I have called for the resident services office several times since then. Still no answer, not once. In addition to these issues, people absolutely trash the place it’s pretty disgusting (not managements fault). No student housing is perfect, but this place is way too expensive for the service you get.
Parking is a joke here. There are only two types of parking: resident parking and two hours visitors parking. Guests have to change the car spot four time a day to avoid their car being towed. My partner is a resident here. She recently got a car and requested a parking permit by sending them an email around noun. They didnt answer her email unil 4pm by then the car had been towed. We talked to the management team regarding this issue and explained them the situation. They were very disrespectful and unhelpful. We ended up paying $300 to get her car back. We will definitely request a tow hearing and try to get the money back.
I put in a maintenance request for my leaking refrigerator almost a MONTH ago, only for my request to be deleted. My roommates and I have gone down to the office on several occasions to no avail, left to deal with unhelpful, disrespectful, and outright rude managers, who continue to do nothing. My fridge is still leaking, but now there is rotting food, and the fruit flies infesting the building as a result of valet trash pickup not doing their jobs are making their way to my fridge. They have not responded to mine or my dad/guarantor’s emails. This is a common experience for Northside residents, with several of my friends going through similar problems. Do not live here unless you want to pay over $1k a month for health hazards and getting your maintenance requests deleted.
Pretty atrocious experience with anything management here. Aside from a couple nice people in the resident services office, nobody cares about you here or making your experience smooth. Theyve rejected my packages, been months late on severe service requests, added late fees to my account and thats not mentioning how bad the trash situation is. I would take a slightly longer commute from a much better apartment complex if I could do it again.
Terrible place to live at. I moved in here about a week ago and issues have already started popping up. Trash everywhere outside the apartment I can still see the box I left out a week ago this place is starting to stink. Also my shower knob has been broken ever since I moved in. I have not been able to take a proper shower. I heard from my roommate that the pervious girl that lived in the room before me had to push on it really hard so the water can come out, but it seems like the knob has been worn out so now its totally broken. I placed a maintenance request when I first got here, but nothing. Ive tried contacting the office via phone but NO ONE EVER ANSWERS!!! I visited their office, but all they say is they will get back to me and someone will come and fix it soon, but when is soon. Management is terrible and this place is way to overpriced I dont even know why i chose to live here. The only good thing is that its close to campus.UPDATE: After 3 weeks they finally came. If your looking for a place that keeps everything up to date, clean, and has good management dont live at Northside.
Someone vomited in my valet trash bin they give to residents. The employee at my building’s front desk was helpful enough to schedule a replacement later this evening. Hopefully I get it.I’ve lived here for 2 years. A majority of the staff are college-age students like the residents. They try, but a lot of this apartment complex is terribly lacking. The loudest and most destructive place I’ve lived in.It’s a place for parties, that’s really it. If you’re trying to find a place to actually live in while studying, the drunk neighbors, the residents revving their cars in the middle of the night, and the trash stuffing the hallways won’t benefit you at all. It doesn’t help that something is smashed by a student every other day. It’s overpriced by at least $200-$300 in monthly rent. The proximity to UTD is the only real silver lining Northside has. If I had a choice, I’d find a nicer complex $300 cheaper within 15 minutes, and just drive to campus. My living experience has been mediocre at best. It’s a fun place to hangout with friends, but it’s ultimately a money-sink trying to capitalize on college students that can’t find better apartments.
I lived in these apartments from Oct 2020 to July 2021. If could’ve given Zero Stars, I would’ve. If you like vomit in the hallways and entryways that never gets cleaned up, even after numerous complaints, if you like loud parties late in the night till 3-4am, if you like thin walls and hearing your neighbor’s every word, and if you like your maintenance issues to go unaddressed for up to 6 weeks, THEN THIS PLACE IS PERFECT FOR YOU! Enjoy!!! You’ll fit right in with Management at this place! Terrible experience!!!!
It’s an amazing place n atmosphere. Safe, clean, n luxury for fun n education. I’m so happy to be here. The leasing process is so smooth n safe. Their managers Bin n Taylor are so down to earth n helpful n would listen to your requirements to insure you get even your preferences. It’s the home for everyone here coz the team are so friendly n you would feel that you’re living with your other family even when you’re a stranger. I would highly recommend this lovely place.
My daughter who was a student at UTD stayed at these apartments for 2 years. Apartments are new and up to date but the management gets 0-ZERO stars for incompetence and price gouging; Expensive and will add unnecessary fees and charges and no response if we have any issues. Too much hassle to deal with management - No one to answer phone calls and charge all sorts for trivial fees- Lost rent checks - Overall bad customer service
They ignore the phone, don’t get things done without being asked multiple times, and don’t enforce noise rules. Awful management
Highly priced and overrated, only good thing about it is that it’s closed to UTD campus. Maintenance is not kept as there are vomit and trash in the hallways. They always make promises but never keep them. For example, my friend’s fridge has been broken for MONTHS and they have yet to replace it properly. If you’re not a student or you can commute, go check out other apartments, you can prob get a better price and better living space than Northside.
We just leased an apartment, the facilities are really nice and the process was so easy. T Le was amazing helping us and made it a very pleasant experience!
Careful on parking here. An overnight vehicle parked legally was towed, no signage was posted. The management company stated that some areas are only two hours. They are simply worried about legal liability. It is expensive to fight, and without the proper signage the liability rests with the property management company who authorizes the tow. In Texas you have to have valid signs prior to towing. The towing company makes revenue when they tow, and the drivers are paid for each tow. We fought it, got our money back without going to court. Dont give up, if it goes to court and you have the correct photos, you can ask for attorney fees. The courts do not like predatory towing companies and will generally side with the plaintiff (who was towed).
Let me just add on to the other negative reviews here!! I have a clog in my shower, it’s been 3 weeks since I’ve filed a maintenance request and still nothing! The clog in the shower is so bad it takes 4 days to drain after taking one shower! I’m having to drive to my friend’s place to shower there 3-4 times out of the week! What’s the point of paying for a shower if I can’t use it!To the reply to this review, I have sent an email to community manager and I never received a response.
Two hours parking policy is ridiculous. It is disrespect to the residents and also visitors. 2.6 rating says it all!
The management is just not there. All the work orders that have been put in havent been answered for weeks. Maybe use some of that ridiculous rent that residents have to pay, to hire more staff because I dont see where else its going because the apartment complex as a whole is horribly maintained with garbage and broken glass everywhere. This place should honestly be considered as a last resort.
Former resident, dont move here because theyll steal your deposit! I moved out early and handed in my keys on 5/16 to a Northside employee. They then sent me an email a month or two ago saying I never handed in my keys and charged me $100 for KEYS (the exact amount of my deposit)! I went in person to clear this up on 9/2 and talked to a Northside employee who emailed a manager (I could not see so who knows if they did). I was told they make a report when you hand in keys, so theyre just trying to take my deposit! They still have not given me back my deposit and wont pick up the phone. Shame on you Northside.RE: I have now gotten my deposit back. Thank you.
Move in on 8/12 the apartment was not cleaned (understatement). Walls needed paint, Refrigerator, Oven, Washer and Dryer are all disgusting. Dirt and dust caked everywhere. Not livable. I had seem these types of reviews about this place but figured people are just overreacting. I was wrong. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
When I first moved into Northside all the facilities worked well and the apartment overall was nice. However, over the past six months my roommates and I have faced countless random charges. We have called the office several times and they still havent stopped these charges or given a specific reason as to why we get them. There are also random alarms that constantly go off and can stay on for days at a time within the apartment buildings. Furthermore, they charge an amenities fee just for you to get kicked out at 6:00 PM. A below average experience at best.
Moved into a brand new apartment last year and everything seemed fine, just a little overpriced because of how close it is to campus. This year I moved into a phase 1 building for more space and had multiple issues once I moved in. Mold all over the walls, mold in my dishwasher & clothes washer, hair & other trash in my carpets, and broken circuit breakers. Been here for about a month and the only thing fixed was my internet because its through a third party. Seems like the only thing they did before move in was paint over a few light switchs and paint the doors to where its almost impossible to open/close them.
Horrible in my lease I chose no parking and they lied and said I signed an addendum stating I want parking which I have proof I did not. Its ridiculous to charge for regular parking anyway. Only a greedy apartment complex would charge for regular parking lot parking.
Management is absolute TRASH! They tow their own residents and they have fire alarms randomly going off in the middle of the night. I wouldn’t be surprised if their management team is a bunch of eight year olds. Easily the worst place to live at
Wish we have read the reviews on this site before my son signed the lease for this apartment !! Definitely will NOT renew for sure. If you are thinking about staying here, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.I will give this place 1 star because is its location. 2 weeks after moving in my son still didnt have his own key. His key fob didnt work the moment he moved in. He went down to services desk 3 different times and they took his key and still didnt resolved the issue. He constantly have to wait on his roomate to either come home or coordinate to leave and come back at the same time. Services just give him the run around with lots of excuses about the guy are not here, only come in 1 day a week, machine is broke, blah blah .. How ridiculous is it that you dont have access to your own apartment ??? Nobody working there seems to understand or have any concerns how such inconveniences this is. Nobody seems to care and see any urgencies in the issue.I finally visited my son on Saturday and was able to talk to a more sympathetic person in Thy Le at the leasing office. She understood the situation right away and called maintenance, explained the situation and was able to come up with a solution and got them to replace my son locks with a key pad. This is exactly what a pro-active employee looks like. I am very grateful to Thy for her help and this is what services should have done a long time ago. 5 stars for Thy Le for sure. Even so, we definitely would not renew the lease unless dramatic changes are made.BTW, somebody need to pick up all the trashes and boxes that are strewing around the hallways - what a bad impression these made to my visiting families. SMH !!
Getting work orders done is a big deal, god help -if you have any open issues in your apartment, tickets are closed without attending to the issues. if you have plans to study in common areas- please trash the idea.Internet is very poor.
I have lived at northside for the past year and was planning to move in this year. Last year, other than my apartment not being clean when i moved in and the hallways generally being gross i had no issues, solid 3/5. This year, however, they seem to have some interesting leasing methods. I signed my lease, got my renters insurance and waited for them to get back to me. They never did, and the website said that my property was waiting to be approved, which when I called about it, meant that my lease was void because the floor plans filled out between the time I signed my lease and added my insurance and guarantor and they never bothered to tell me or update my status. Also they took forever to respond to my emails which contributed to me not getting the floor plan. Truly stellar. Also they admitted to overleasing this year, and Im not even sure how that happens
Currently a resident at Northside trying to reach them over the phone for the past 3 days - no luck. Would be great if they would actually pick up the phone during their business hours.
I just moved into Northside Apartments Phase 2 and had a great experience! Since I am from Peru and I had a rush to move, I can say that I had a fantastic customer service with Daniel. he followed my application and every concern that I had through the live chat. He was so patient with me! And I am very glad to finally be here. This first month at Northside has been incredible and the managers at the office helped me with every question that I had 🤍
Nobody picks up the phone. They accidentally picked up my call earlier this month. He claimed to be one of the leasing manager for the properties in that area. He did not solve my problem except apologizing 100 times. He promised that the community manager will call me back. Never received a call back. I tried calling many times during the last 3 weeks and left messages too.
They arent transparent with many policies like with parking, the bike placement, amenities, etc. They typically come at the expense of the resident, usually monetarily. Furthermore, many repairs that I asked to be fixed in my apartment were never even addressed and labeled as fixed.
Hey @Josh HavingFun would uou be interested in letting me take over your lease! I would appreciate it I sent you a friend request
This apartment complex employs some of the most incompetent and rude workers I have ever come across. They cannot answer simple questions or address any concerns in a professional manner and will constantly try to swindle more money from residents. I lived here for more than 1 year and have never had a positive experience with management, and to top it off was actually screamed at over the phone by a worker in the leasing office. DO NOT LIVE HERE! They will constantly try to scam you into paying higher prices and then verbally accost you when you try to fix any issues. Not to mention the price is way too high for the absolute trash service you receive.
If you love yourself even a little bit, do NOT live here. They will do everything in their power to avoid helping you in every situation, including randomly closing the office early without warning, leaving the phone off the hook, and ignoring emails. I lived here in 2018 and out of all the apartments I have lived at since, nothing will ever compare to how incompetent Northside is at handling their business.
I’ve been trying to get out of my lease for a month now and they refuse to pick up the phone and send the lease to the person taking over the lease. This is the worst service I’ve experienced. I’m highly disappointed in Northside especially considering I can’t attend college at this moment because of personal reasons and they won’t even pick up the phone or respond to emails my family has sent. I’ll make sure to not recommend this place to anyone wanting to live near campus.
This is the worst place in the world to live because of their terrible management. They are greedy and inconsiderate. Also, the apartments may look classy and expensive, but are actually infested with bugs.Still, I would like to give a shoutout to Jake from the leasing office. He is 5/5 and was the only person who helped me at all with my situation. He deserves major praise.
If you unfortunately decide to live in this trash community, beware of the most disgraceful, incompetent employees working here. The management team is unhelpful and rude, and only care about taking your money. Trash everywhere in the halls and elevators; constant broken alarms and power outages; and not a single intelligent person to help with questions/concerns. The only good people working here are the maintenance team -- they are timely, professional and helpful, unlike the rest of the employees. Stay away!!!!!!!
Constant towing, unresponsive and poorly run offices, fire alarms going off at 3 am, cheap construction, and bugs. The management is comprised of UTD students and people from Greystar. They are often confused and will tell you incorrect information that they’ll later fine you for. It’s so hard to get a response from either their email or phone. Their offices will randomly be closed. They don’t care about their renters. The facilities are closed at random and the activity fee you have to pay goes towards incentives for new leasers. Hallways are gross. The materials used were clearly super cheap since it’s student housing.Their after hours number often does not work so make sure you don’t get locked out or friends living here! Multiple friends have had this happen. The parking garage’s turns are blind spots and there’s no mirrors there. NulOnly good things are the location and maintenance staff!
My son paid almost $200 to reserve his room for Fall 2021. He lost his spot due to some kind of system upgrade, but he was told it was not his fault. Now I cant through to anyone to get our money back.
Northsides manager, Taylor Sherrill, cant do her job right!!! Would ignore our concerns for a week when she made promises to us about changing our fridge.Weve had issues with our fridge for months now and filed for 5 work order on it. Northside told us we will get a new fridge the 3rd time it was broken but never gave us a new fridge. The 5th time it was broken, we had to go after Northside and they said they will get us a new fridge the next day. They were not only late but also gave us an old and dirty fridge from another apartment. We ended up wasting more food.We ended up somehow got a hold of Northsides manager, Taylor, and she said she will be getting us a new fridge and will reimburse money to us on all the food we ended up wasting because of our broken fridge (we wasted $1,500 worth of food over the course of the months). Its been a week since that communication and now we are getting ignored. They would give us excuses for being busy helping new residents move in but weve been contacting Northside for MONTHS now. The manager is finally aware of this AFTER we demand to chat with her. Its been a week since she was aware of this issue and made promises to us. Taylor could AT LEAST do the bare minimum and communicate with us.
If I am a batman, then Northside apartment is Joker. You have to be careful not to get trapped into their scams. I might k*ll myself if I the apt office cant improve the environment.
It was pretty nice when I first moved in. The last few months things have gotten really bad as the fire alarms are constantly going off and the hallways have gotten very dirty. Northside has been hard to reach and is not fixing the problems. We have emailed and called about issues and they take long periods to respond and send automated responses.
I toured with Jake before signing and he was incredibly patient and helpful in answering all of my questions!
Everyone that I have spoken with in regards to Northside has had nothing good to say at all about this place. They have the worst management, only care about money and will never accommodate anything for you. I had requested specific roommates, and they did not give me those roommates along with telling me that they had not requested me. That is absolutely untrue because they had called in front of me. Northside is lazy and will never do anything right. I have not even started my lease there and this is the hospitality that I am being provided with. Not to mention, they never answer any calls unless you go in person every time there is an issue. WORST PLACE EVER!!!
I attempted to apply for a lease here. When I applied, they would accept my application unless I had a guarantor and Renter’s insurance. They told me that if i don’t finish my application before it expired, I wont get the floor plan. However, I sent constant emails regarding the application process and just when I was about to add a guarantor on ResidentPortal, My application expired and the floor plans sold out. It is as if they made the leasing process ver complicated and unhelpful.Terrible customer service. Terrible Apartment and how they deal with leasing processes. If you are UTD college student looking for housing, look elsewhere.
No one to answers calls. Staff is untrained and incompetent. And the place is so loud and dirty.
My son has been living here for 8 months and needed to transfer units because of a water leak brought on by SNOVID. Fortunately the complex was spared from having very many units affected. I talked to Jake at leasing today and he was very professional in helping me get everything transferred over to a new unit. My son loves living here. The apartments are nice and just across the street from campus.
God awful management. Every request is answered by lemme call my supervisor and then after that no response period. God forbid you live near the courtyard and have work because you will need to call the nonexistent northside phone number or the cops every single night because they will be playing volleyball until 3am on a weekday. Also people trash the pool weekly so thats cute. Oh by the way if you want to move apartments thats a 500 dollar fee even though its Northsides fault. Also theres trash piled in the floot of the trash rooms and the hallways smell like puke.
I parked in a place where there were NO SIGNS INDICATING RETAIL OR RESIDENTIAL PARKING as there are in other spots and even on the map Of north side it is not indicated who cannot in those spots so I parked there and was towed. When I asked the staff about it they told me I was towed and when I asked where the signs were to indicate it was resident parking only I was told they were “at the ends of the street indicating the whole street is resident parking” which is untrue- I went back and checked and took pictures of the lack of signage, and the only towing sign I saw was on the parking garage which I didn’t park in. This cost me over 250$ for someone else’s lack of signage and extreme enforcement of rules that are not posted.I parked on the other side of this sign- where there is NO ARROW SAYING ITS RESIDENT PARKING and on the map at the very top where the parking spaces are blank and no writing indicating resident or retail parking only? That’s where I parked. No signage and not even indicated on their own map.
My friend lives here and I am here a lot. There are only few two hours parking spots available for visitors although there are plenty of spaces open around the complex that could be designated to visitors. Visitors have to move their car every two hours to avoid being towed, which is not a guarantee either. The complex management team is hardcore on towing, and it costs $300 to get your car back.
Jake helped me out today and he was amazing! I am going to be a freshman in the Fall so I am new to this whole apartment thing and he gave me a ton of helpful info!
While it may look amazing in the official pictures/photos they put out on their ads, and even in person, do not be deceived; if you are going to UTD at least, official on-campus housing is a much better option than leasing here.Other than being overpriced for what they are, their passing-grade amenities do not match their outstanding greed and malicious business practices, where they desire only to squeeze out the last penny from fresh blood that is college freshman/sophomores.Additionally, their policies regarding lease payments under the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic made me realize just how unfriendly, blood-sucking and disgusting the management/upper-management is, and/or operates.
If someone tells you that this place is amazing theyre lying. The only good thing about this apartment is that it is right next to UTD. The management is awful and dont care about the residents. Your neighbors can be loud upstairs and right next to you and they wouldnt take action even after quiet hours. I dont recommend this place.
Please do not live here. The build quality of the apartments is poor, and the extremely loud fire alarms go off for extended periods of time for no reason. The tenants are loud as well and are always racing down the complex inner roads. I regret giving them any money.Edit: I also want to mention that the provided internet often goes out for quite some time occasionally, as well.Edit 2: May 25, 2021. The fire alarms have been going off for at least 4 hours now nonstop, because of a problem at the retails shops. It sounds like a war zone.
I forgot to leave a review before I left, but Northside was very helpful with my stay during the summer. I would highly recommend! It is close to a variety of shops and has all the amenities you ever need( gym, pool, volleyball courts, etc). They were also COVID-19 friendly. Also, I want to give a shoutout to Brenden (-on, forgot which ending it was) at the front desk. He was very friendly and really cared about my day. His boss should give him a virtual high five(due to COVID) for such great work!Thank you for a great summer!
I havent even moved in yet. I signed a lease for Fall 2021 and I have some questions and yet even during office hours NO ONE is answering the phone!! I have been trying to reach them for days you cannot even leave a message. This is a really bad sign, if their customer service is none existent I cant believe that they care about residents at all.
If there is less than 1 Star I would give that. Parking here is horrible they tow residents and dont even provide a parking sticker while moving even though you pay for it and when questioned they come back saying why didnt you ask . Absolutely worst community manger to speak to because she has no answers to your questions but just to apologies and smile. They just try to loot students. Guests coming to your place have to move the car 5 times in a day to different parking spots to avoid towing. ABSOLUTE WORST BEHAVIOUR OF THE STAFF ! Its better to park at UTD and pay little amount then to deal with these guys. Now an automated response from the owner will be were sorry that your vehicle was towed. All visitor parking is explicitly labeled as visitor. These spaces are located along Northside Blvd. and John Erik Ave. Visitor parking is limited to 2 hours during office hours and guests can park overnight outside of office hours. and there is nothing they can resolve positively ! I wish I didnt lease with these guys. WORST EVER. Period.
I enjoyed all the community amenities, college-vibe culture, and easy to find street parking during my time at Northside!
We just moved into Northside Apartments Phase 3 and had a great experience! The Leasing & Marketing Manager, Ben, was very helpful and delivered fantastic customer service. It had been over 6 months since we signed the lease. Back then, Phase 3 was barely started, so we had several questions and concerns that needed to be addressed. Ben handled things very well and quickly resolved every concern we brought to his attention. We couldnt have asked for anything more!
Nothing good about this place but there’s no other option but to live here.
Northside is an apartment complex across from campus with many amenities including beach volleyball, 2 pools, and 2 gyms. When I was trying to find an apartment, Ben helped me find a roommate, floor plan, and location that was tailored to my preferences. He was a huge help and went out of his way to make sure my living situation was taken care of.
I used to stay here with January 2020 to July 2020. Amenities were good. Comfortable stay, clear and furnish apartment. 24*7 Convinient store is there, some resturants and bars are there. Price is just little expensive from the other communities around.
I do not recommend staying here. If it werent for my friends that constantly brought joy to my life here, I would have left in an instant. The walls are paper thin, too many blackouts, and lets not forget about the bug infestations. We had a wasp hive outside of our porch and later on in the semester, an ant infestation where the ants crawled to the upper cupboards. The biggest issue of them all is how money-hungry this complex is, they do not live up to how much they charge. Due to the pandemic, many apartments were giving rent relief. I wanted out of the over priced studio apartment for Fall 2020. No help was offered during the process of trying to find a replacement for my lease and upon doing all the advertising, I still need to pay them $400 for doing their job.Dont live here unless you want to throw your all money down the drain. I guess if there was ONE redeeming factor, itd be that you get pretty great internet, thats if it doesnt go out suddenly. Good luck out there.
I’ve never had a better experience with an apartment complex (my fourth in four years!). The pandemic couldn’t have been handled better than Northside. Our experience with Ben Smith was better than any we’d ever had; he facilitated a move-in that made my job as easy as can be. He handled the move-in dates well, he gave us plenty of quality time, and even took it upon himself to manage all of our service requests. If you move in, make sure you shake hands with Ben Smith. He’ll help make the resident experience stupendous.
Fire alarms are constantly going off, owners refused to fix it.
Beautiful space, wonderful area, the units are really nice! They did unfortunately forget to give my partner and I another set of keys despite both of us being on the lease. However the staff was nice, I especially appreciated the fact that they are still practicing precautions for COVID-19 showing they value residents’ well-being
Very decent apartments, great location. However, there are several things wrong with the place. The walls are extremely thin to the point of being able to understand what people are saying in the room next to yours. The construction starts at 7am even on Saturdays so if youre close to one of the construction sites, good luck getting decent sleep. Overall the place is very noisy. The windows dont really isolate from the outside noise at all. When I moved in (in a brand new apartment, never used), the washer was broken and leaking Several work orders were completed by shutting off the water supply of the washer (no water means no leaks right?). After a full month of back and forth and me contacting management they finally replaced the washer. The door locks work on batteries. When the battery dies, theres literally no way of getting into the apartment and the person who can fix it is not the on call person for maintenance. There is no tool to open the door on site, and I had to wait several hours at night before I could finally get back in the apartment. Big thanks to the guy who wasnt on call but still had to come to open my door...On top of that, somehow they increase the - already high - monthly rent by $40 every year in my case.Come here if you need the convenience and dont mind paying too much for what you get. Two stars because the place is pretty nice, just the customer service and noise should be improved.
I am extremely frustrated with the staff at Northside apartments. The manager has not responded to my emails. I have not moved in. I have not even paid the security deposit. I want to cancel my lease because my husbands classes have converted to online. All I hear from the staff at Northside is that the only option at this time is to sublease the apartment. They continue to emphasize that the sole responsibility to find a subletter rests with me. According to Texas law they must make a reasonable effort to relet the apartment. Again, we have not even moved in yet. Theyre realizing that a lot of people are trying to cancel theyre lease because theres an actual Pandemic raging right now. Instead of being reasonable, theyre denying any and all options except the one that will make them money.
Nope, dont do it.Noise is absolutely terrible here and management refuses to do anything about it. The walls and ceilings are paper thin. Construction is constantly going on. Loud cars are always speeding on the streets. Fire alarms always have a chance of going off randomly at night (1AM) on weekdays.Packages, when delivered, are always going missing and only available to pick up during certain times. Sometimes randomly show up, OPENED, outside your front door.Management is terrible, rent is high, noise is unbearable. Youre better off sleeping at the UTD library. Find a better place.
Great place to live gave 5 star because of the cleaning lady who does an amazing job keeping the building in mint condition !
I have loved my experience at Northside so far! I was able to pick my friends as roommates and it’s been a lot of fun. The Northside staff have been throwing some cool events, and I can’t wait for Halloween themed events this month!
God awful parking situation and they are obsessive about towing, so much so that they tow their own residents. And it costs $300 to get your car back. Greedy and evil business practices.
Overall good place to stay. There are a lot of facilities which are helpful such as a kitchen with microwave, sink. Many good options nearby to eat as well. Nice to have our own rooms. However the noise level at night can be a bit too much sometimes.
I toured Northside as one of my options for my future move to Dallas and I loved it! The property is beautiful, the floor plans are spacious, and the staff is extremely helpful. Deijah answered all of my questions and made me feel like Northside was already my new home.
Northside Apartments are amazing. They’re workers are so efficient and excellent. They fixed my washer and dryer so fast. Francesca R is a great worker.
Lived here for a year. Theyre no better than any other apartment for quality, theyre more expensive. They also dont care if there are unsafe things with drugs or drunk people-they just figure thats the price you pay for living next to a college campusThere were bed bugs in my apt when I moved in. It took them a month to admit and pay for it to be addressed.Left on poor terms for a safer situation
I have lived here for 2 years. Very poor service. Lazy front desk staff. Sometimes they refuse to sign for packages, so your purchases are likely to end up sitting in the Mail room (marked as deliver red by your carrier, so now it is your responsibility), opened and picked apart by strangers, with the less desirable goods waiting to be found or thrown away. This didn’t happen to me, but I see several packages sitting in there currently, wasting away. OR, they will have the packages sent back. They rarely offer any reassurance in times of stress that they themselves caused. Also, towing is $300+ and they are OBSESSIVE about it. To be honest, I would give them 1 star if not for the hardworking cleaning lady who is always lugging and scrubbing the building hallways.
This is by far the best place around UTD! Impressive pool, game rooms, gym, study quiet space and the apartments are so spacious and beautiful! Great friendly staff, always willing to help!
I lived here my sophomore year and I had a great experience. These are apartments next to a college campus, so a majority of the residents are college students. The amenities are great and should be taken advantage of as Northside is definitely not the cheapest option. The location of these apartments is exceptional as well with the campus within walking distance. There are some drawbacks such as hallways being a little messy sometimes (mostly weekends), but I mean college students...All in all, I enjoyed my stay at Northside and I would recommend it to any student that wants to have a good time with other college students as neighbors.
Do not. Do not rent from Northside. Business practices are corrupt, particularly in the wake of Covid and online learning. You will be better off going ANYWHERE else. If your child changes their plans for attending college, northside will not, in good faith, assist. When you follow up on the status they will refer you to Facebook groups which are full of spam. Or perhaps you can ask your friends who also live 500 miles to take over the lease. They do not answer emails or the phone. Let us go on to mention the security issues in the apartments. Due to events happening in FY19 school year parents do not recommend housing students on the first floor.I will be interested to see if north side is receiving government relief due to covid. If anyone would like to join in a lawsuit?Future residents beware.
Im impressed. The staff is knowledgeable and professional, young professionals! I had the pleasure of speaking with Bobby a few times. Hes patient and thorough. Speaking with someone polite makes a big difference. Thanks Northside!
Ben (the leasing manager) is super nice and helpful. He literally went out of his way to help us with lease modifications :)
Love the Apartments, close to campus makes my life super easy. Looks nice, clean and nothing really to complain about.
After living here for almost a year, I can confidently say that this is the absolute worst place to live. UTD students: find somewhere else to live that will save you money and treat you better. As many like you, I was excited to live here. I believed it was a nice place, clean, and the best location to live as a student. However, the moment I moved in, I was greeted by cockroaches and leftover food from the past owners. My roommate and I did the obvious thing, went down to the leasing office to talk to the manager about our problem. He let us know that the cockroaches were a common issue, but with their pest control company, they would fix it ASAP.We believed them and when the pest control company came the first time, we were not notified when they had come, so my roommate had to go ask the office the time that the company had sprayed our apartment. Since it seemed that everyone was clueless on the time that the company had gone, my roommate and I were forced to be out of the apartment all day in order to not inhale any of the excessive fumes. We realized that after a few weeks, the problem had not been solved. So we put in another work order to fix the problem. Keep in mind that I am a neat freak and love to clean, so our apartment was always tidy. Our little friends loved the kitchen and some even made their way to my bathroom, which was lovely to find while taking a shower might I add. This fight between the manager and us never ceased. We wrote a strong letter demanding to get this fixed or to give us a discount on our monthly rent, as this was NOT the living conditions we had agreed upon when we moved in. To simply put it, nothing successful was ever done. I lived in fear in my apartment and the issue was never resolved. This is just one of many problems I encountered while living here. Not to mention the people who would stumble into the halls at 3am extremely drunk punching out EXIT signs, elevators not working, being locked out multiple times because the doors didnt unlock when using my proximity key, and the absolutely loud nights in the bars that can be heard from the 4th floor. Please do yourself a favor and find another apartment complex. I promise you that the little bit of time you would be saving to go to campus by living at Northside is not worth the constant disgusting conditions that they put you in.
Our kids lived at Northside for 2 years. Northside is a great place for students at UTD to live and has a lot of activities (pre-COVID) for students to participate in . This is a convenient location and close to the UT Dallas campus. Because of COVID and classes moving online our kids decided not to return to campus for the upcoming school year and we were able to relet our apartment. Ben, the new leasing manager, was very helpful in getting all of the paperwork completed very quickly and made the process extremely easy.
Maintenance is horrible. They do not care about your living situation or urgency of repairs. I lost all of the food in my fridge when it broke because the maintenance person told us to clear it out and hed be back in a few minutes. Over two days later and he still hasnt come back.
I wish i could give them zero stars. My boyfriend lives here, so I’m here a lot. I was towed from their retail parking because a staff member told me that even though the signs say towing inforced, i would NOT be towed from that spot. And what do you know, i was towed. It cost me $319 dollars to get my car back. So i went to the front office to get my tow charge reimbursed because it was not my fault. The community manager was EXTREMELY rude and condescending. Did not even want to rectify the situation. Told me I had no proof of a staff member telling me that. You would expect a student living facility to have better visitor parking. DO NOT move here unless you want to have your friends cars towed constantly and then have the management call you a liar :)
I have had the pleasure to live at Northside since 2016. I enjoyed the staff members, always friendly and greeting me with a smile, even before I was offered a part time job as a resident specialist in 2017. I have always felt at home here and made great friendships along the way. Also, Northside is conveniently located across the street from UTD and within a 5 mile radius from a grocery store, gas station, and my gym.
Overall its pretty nice here at Northside. Everything is much higher quality than anything on campus and its not too much farther. Maintenance is always very fast and friendly. However, there seems to be a lot more outages for internet, electricity, and this morning the fire alarms went off waking everyone up when there was no alarm. Maybe they just have bad luck with preventative maintenance, but its been pretty annoying and lost me a couple full work days (I work remotely). Electricity can also be pretty expensive because everything uses it (AC/heater/stove/water heater) and the building tracking charges you about ¢3/KWh which essentially multiplies my bill by 1.3 times what I should be paying because I have a plan that charges ¢9/KWh.Overall, Id say they do a very good job and do give you more service for the money you pay.
Im just going to describe the time Ive had trying to move out, and it will hit all the aspects of being a Northside resident. The elevator has been broken all week, so weve been trying to wait for it before we start carrying boxes up and down 3 flights of stairs. However, everyday all week there has been people trying to move, and they had no luck getting Northside to help people moving in or out. 4 days later it was fixed and we started moving. However, during one of the trips, the elevator broke on us and we had to literally pry the doors open to get out. From then on we used the stairwell, however it is completely filled with sawdust that they just left sitting there and also has such a strong chemical scent you cant breathe. Im asthmatic and would prefer not to spend the day in urgent care, so we went to talk to the staff. However, even though its open hours, nobody is there, the doors are locked, when you call nobody picks up and the phone, and the mailbox is full. In general, the place is always trashed, there was vomit in the elevator for 4 days once. There are broken glass bottles all over the place. Its near a college campus, so there are loud people at 2 am, and Ive woken up from them at least once a week. The things you deal with at Northside arent always awful, but theyre always too much for the cost. There are plenty of great complexes with staff who genuinely do care within 10 minutes of campus. Other complexes at the same price point are a million times better because they dont just rely on college kids who dont know the area moving in because its close. The only thing people like about Northside is the location.
Northside is such a convenient place to live! Only takes a few minutes to walk to UTD, so no need to worry about finding parking in the morning. Northside offers plenty of amenities that is included with rent such a printing and gyms.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I’m willing to bet that most of the 5 star reviews here are frompeople who do not actually live at this awful complex and instead drive by and think “it looks cool”. The management aka Sarah Morrison does not care at all for residents. Take your money elsewhere
Good apartment for a college student. Well priced compared to the competition and location. It is very noisy at night, even on the 4th floor. And my elevator breaks at least once a week.
DO NOT LEASE HERE, and do not invest your money or trust this greedy, unprofessional and unsafe apartment complex. For many months the key fob and access gates were not working which resulted in multiple lock-outs all though out the day and night even in the cold and rainy weather. Many tenants had to sleepover in a hotel or with family/friends in the duration of the lock-outs including myself.Paying monthly for rent to have a key to your apartment that does not work and people are unable to get in to their beds to sleep and being locked out of their home is unethical and unfair. For all of the ridiculous fees Northside charges, customers should charge Northside an inconvenience fee for all the lock-outs that has occurred for a long duration of time. Also, constant fire alarms go off in the middle of the night. There was no way to get any sleep these nights and there was no compensation or apologies for the trouble and inconveniences it caused residents.Regarding the Northside management: unprofessional, incompetent and lazy to say the least.Lastly, there is a huge PEST/BUGS issue (Crickets, ants and, more). In hindsight, I should have read the reviews (there are so many bad reviews) and should have noticed the red flags before I signed the lease. There is a reason why Northside spends a lot of money on marketing materials by giving away free lunches, t-shirts, cups, highlighters and more because they try to buy your trust and lure customers, only to disappoint and mislead after the lease is singed. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Northside has by far, been the WORST PLACE TO LIVE.
Fantastic Middle Eastern food served in a trinity setting. Customer service was excellent would highly recommend this place for dining and carryout. However the seating is very limited.
Moving can be very stressful for everybody and it was very stressful for me this year. I was always in the Northside leasing office asking them annoying questions and they always had answers for me. Rodrigo was extremely helpful during this time and made this process for me a lot easier!
Super cheap depending on which type of room you chose. Better than the dorms on campus. Not far from services and food.
Management treats their tenants poorly because they can afford it due to high demand, the staff is great, if I could make a separate review I would give them 5, but aside from it, it’s not worth your money
They were quick and very responsive with the work order.
Francesca Reihani is one of the most helpful employees. She always has a smile on her face and is always ready to help no matter what the issue is. So thankful for the northside staff!
