Do you fix Good players arm piece it’s at a place how much do you charge can you let me know thanks
Johns a cool old dude. Definitely knows what time it is when it comes to electronic goodies. I had an old BSR turntable from a 40 year old sanyo stereo. I dropped it of in the afternoon and it was ready the next morning. My wife will be overjoyed. She got it new when she was a kid. I prefer my 1973 Sansui QS 4-channel qrx-4500. It my need a visit to see John for a check up.
The owner, John(?) is just the best. I was attempting to fix my Roberts Reel to Reel and ran into a capacitor that needed changing. I brought the item in ostensibly to leave it with him to replace the part as my soldering skills are in the baby stage. Instead of taking the unit to fix John calmly explained what I needed to buy writing down the info. Then he explained how to install the part. Id never been to his shop, but was amazed to see the vintage gear piled high. I hope that isnt the backlog! You have to understand though, that shop is the ONLY place that can work on some of this gear. A couple of crafty assistants would indeed help the backlog as I know he is swamped. Im not sure if anyone these days would fit the criteria and skills needed to assist. Lets hope so. But the advice he gave was priceless.
Drove all the way down from Marysville (North of Everett) to get my turntable repaired by John. Great person to talk to. Very knowledgeable and kind. His rate was beyond reasonable. I was expecting much more and that was such a nice surprise. So glad that he was able to repair my turntable. Tested it out before I headed out, and gave me great information on where to purchase parts. Thanks for your time, John!
The owner really knows what hes doing and is being very kind and reassure me that the fault in my amp is not my fault but rather the manufacturers. And fixed it for me in a few week during this hard time. Really appreciate it.
I echo the many positive reviews youll find here for many of the same reasons youll read in those reviews. John is just a great guy to talk with, and he really knows audio equipment. He may take some time to get to your project, but you can trust that he knows what hes doing and that hell get the job done right at a fair price. He and I are of the same generation, and I grew up with small-shop experts like him who know their craft masterfully. IMHO people like John are now rare to find, so Im glad he stays in business to keep my audio equipment running.
John is quite a human being. If you just want to know about the repair work on my vintage Marantz 2270, it was stellar. It was a minor repair (blown fuse) but I mentioned something else wrong (inaccurate tuner), John showed me what the issue was, repaired it in front of me and taught me how to do it myself in the future. John seemed so into the unit and its condition. As a person, I dont even know where to begin. We called as we approached because we could not find his entrance. Once he clarified and we pulled up we were greeted by John, at the door, holding it open for us. Before we even parked! Oh and by the way, there were other customers in the store. For whatever reason, he just decided to welcome us.John is a fascinating person who has been in this line of work forever. He also shared some very lovely personal anecdotes while he was going about his work. I sort of want my stuff to break just so I have a reason to go spend time with him!
The owner and worker do excellent jobs repairing electronics. He has worked on my old Pioneer cassette deck and fixed it. A lot of work. Very reasonable prices.
Called to ask a question about my Sony TC-K333ESG cassette deck. He literally started telling me all the specs right on the phone. When I told him the problem he gave me the info over the phone to attempt a fix without bringing it in and paying. I tried his advice and I’ll be damned, it’s working like new again!!! I will definitely use him for any future repairs of my audio gear. Hats off to a great old school business owner who knows his stuff and cares about his customers.
John is a nice, friendly person who is very knowledgeable. Our old stereo went out and though he couldnt fix ours he was able to replace it with one he had refurbished. Price was reasonable.
John is the best! Helped me narrow down a left side channel problem and with a couple shots of cleaner on my NAD 1240 preamp and I am back hearing my vintage Speaker Lab S6s.....if you bring gear to him bring fresh black coffee and be prepared for long conversations. Lucky to still have him practicing his craft.
Very knowledgeable of all electronics! Great service
John has helped me diagnose and identify broken components on my record player, twice; free of charge. Always encouraging to fix it myself, as it was either a simple fix, or he didnt have the hard to find parts available to service it. Very chatty and kind fellow that loves talking to people.
John was extremely helpful with giving me information around a vintage reel to reel. He took time to explain the machine to me over the phone and recommended a solid guy to by tape from. Highly recommend his shop!
I appreciate John Ledbetter in that he is as honest as the day is long and he is not all about how much money can be made. His lifetime of experience is a high plus for vintage stereo repair where so many businesses offering similar services simply dont have the practical experience with 50s, 60s, and 70s equipment as he was in the business starting in the 1960s. On the down side he is always very busy and has a lot of work and it may take longer for new work coming in to be finished. Regardless I will take my business to N.W. As long as he still feels up to doing it. Its rare in these times of hurry up life style and impersonal service to find a shop such as this. Thank you N.W. Audio!
Absolutely made my day. One speaker on my beloved Denon mini system suddenly stopped working. I tried everything I could think of to troubleshoot it, even disassembling the case to check the connections. I called Northwest Audio, and they fixed the issue over the phone in a couple of minutes. Such gracious and generous service. Magic.
Wow. Guy fixed my issue over the phone no charge. Then he referred me to someone else for another project. Amazing. Knowledge plus kindness.
I brought an old Marantz amplifier in for repair, at least 30 years old. I was amazed that when I described the symptom (one channel fades out and stops working within a minute or so), he immediately guessed what could be causing the problem. After a few minutes of troubleshooting with a multimeter, his diagnosis was confirmed correct. Even more amazing was that he just happened to have the exact replacement part on hand. The repair cost was reasonable and done on the spot, although delayed by a few visitors and several incoming telephone calls. John is truly a treasure and like a walking encyclopedia when it comes to repairing legacy audio equipment.
John is not only knowledgeable about his Hi-Fi but also makes sure you are well taken care of and even will refer you to other folks if he cannot take care of your Hi-Fi needs are feels that you might be better served by someone else. I have a European model NAD amp that I was looking to get rewired with a 120v transformer but instead John suggested I contact another seller of transformers and get an external stepup transformer instead of paying a bigger labor cost to have John rewire my amp. What a true gentleman and hands down honest Joe (I mean John)! Will continue to do business with John!
Repaired my carver for very reasonable cost. Will use again.
Dropped off amplifier to be fixed. Very impressed with owner.
John is not only one of the most knowledge electronics repair persons anywhere, hes a heck of a nice guy and an honest business man. Hes worked on many pieces of equipment over decades for me and he always has a fair price
Complete and utter waste of time and energy. Guy had my amplifier for nearly THREE months, and looked at it once. For the last six weeks I have been calling him weekly to get to it, and the response is always, Oh, call me on Tuesday...Ill have looked at it by then. I call on Tuesday, and its Oh, call me next Friday...On ad infinitum for two solid months. In addition to being a waste of time, while in his care, my amp suffered many scrapes and scratches, including a huge gash across the LED screen...Im not surprised...NAS is a complete pig sty and its clear equipment left for repairs is not treated with much regard. From other reviews for this guy it appears others have been more successful at getting their equipment repaired, but that was the antithesis of my experience—I quite frankly couldnt be less impressed. Youve been warned.
John is the best. As others have said, this is the only place to bring your vintage stereo gear in need of service or repair. Not only is he a wealth of knowledge on all sorts of subjects but hes truly a joy to have a conversation with. I brought in my 35 year old MCS tuner/amp that had evacuated the smoke out of a couple of resistors. John made the repairs plus went through the whole unit and tuned it up (upgrading a couple of components with more robust alternatives and replacing all of the display lamps with 14V bulbs for long life). It works as good as new now.As long as youre not in a rush, you will be very satisfied. As you might expect, he has a lot of work going on at once and he cant always get right to whatever just came in. My repairs took about 6 weeks but I wasnt in a hurry and would rather have it done correctly than immediately. For about the cost of a new, disposable stereo from WalMart, I got my old friend back, ready for another 35 years of reliable service.
Honest. Knowledgeable. Serious vintage home audio experience.
Great honest service and knowledgeable alternatives.John has years of immeasurable experience.
Very helpful.
Literally a walking Service Manual . Best service in the Northwest !!!!
John is...The Marantz Whisperer
