My husband and I came in yesterday to rent some clothes and googles. It was our first time skiing and we had no idea what we were doing but the owner was super nice and got us all situated. We ended up heading to Donner and had an epic time and we were comfortable in the clothes we rented. I think the negative reviews on here are unfair. We had a good experience and I’d rent from this mom and pop shop again.

The gentleman working here was so nice and helpful!! The prices cant be beat, we got an adult snowboard, adult boots, kids snowboard and kids boots all for $42 for the whole day! Its only 5 mins from mt rose so that was a huge plus!

Most places rip you off with extreme rental prices. Mountain top sports is the best deal you will find in Reno, and they always provide you their service with a smile!

The shop owner is very informative, not judgemental (im from Florida) he was very personable as well. GREAT RATES!! and proximity to Mt.Rose is basically unbeatable.

The 2 gentlemen in the shop this afternoon were awesome. Just imagine your typical ski trip...-Youre excited-Your kids are excited-You want to laugh and smile-COVID has employees on edge-COVID has YOU on edge-The skis you have just wont go fast...even without COVID, rental shops are where smiles are turned upside down by grumpy college kids that WANTED a ski instructor job, but instead got stuck in the rental shop.Well, these guys are different. They seem to love their work, and I felt re-energized just stepping in for a wax job.I own my own skis, but if I had to refer a friend or family member to a rental shop, this would be the place. Start your day happy, break a leg, and then return your skis here for a pick-me-up.Thanks for the free wax, guys

Stopped in today on a whim to see if I could revive some old skis I have and, not only did the owner Curtis help me out, he did so at no charge. I, of course, gave him some cash for his time and effort, but the service he provided was priceless. I would HIGHLY recommend Mountain Top Sports for all of your skiing and snowboarding needs. Based on my experience today, you wont be disappointed!

Horrible gear and lack of care for the customer. Would not recommend. Bindings would not work not did the boots. Use any other rental place.

The prices simply cant be beat! The skis I rented were perfect. My brother had a small issue with his snowboarding Boot and they fixed him right up with no problems.

Personable and knowledgeable staff. The owner is a great guy and him and the staff showed a genuine concern in gearing us up for fun and safety. The process of renting and returning our equipment was super smooth. The staff multi-tasked well with several patrons in the store. We absolutely recommend this shop to everyone! ATTENTION!! this place let you sign a contract mentioning that you cannot complaint about the equipment you rented. Which means whenever you have your stuff you cannot come back if there is any problem. As well even though the contract does not mention that there is no exchange you cannot exchange your skis or anything else whenever you go out of the door. (Contract picture attached)The owner is good whenever you are renting the equipment. If you come back for anything but return your equipment, the owner will be very mean, shout at you, and he can kick you out of the store.Yes the renting is cheap. However you get what you pay for. The quality is not as good as other places, equipments are wear, and you are risking your ski day as you are signing on a no complaints policy.My advise is pay couple of bucks more and dont risk having a bad ski day.

Best prices in town! The owner is very knowledgeable and offers a wide variety of equipment for rentals, by far the best repairs and tuning Ive found in the area. Plus the convenience of being on the mountain is a huge plus. Not to mention highly recommend by the locals and a good deal all around!

Great family-owned rental shop. Right down from Mount Rose, and prices are always fair. Cheaper than rentals from the mountain, same quality gear.

While we hardly never leave reviews, we felt that the warm and helpful customer service and excellent prices warranted all 5 stars and more. The owner was extremely knowledgeable and service was quick and attentive. The next time we are in the area will absolutely be returning.

The owner is super nice, there is great service and he has the best prices ive seen for renting skis and snowboard. 100% recommend going if you are planning on going to mount rose or some other close ski resort. 10/10

This place is great, the owner is very knowledgeable, and their prices are less then half of what the resort charges.

Not too bad. The owner of the business and his family live directly above the business, which makes this place a little less formal. Otherwise, great deals on fairly good gear. Hard to say no to that.

Five Stars in the NEGATIVE DIRECTION. Really really Bad. Wont EVER go there again. My nieces and nephews got yelled just for asking questions about products they qere going to purchase. Really mean owner or manager. Wont be surprised if someone knocks this guys teeth in or knock him out. Ill have a real good laugh and this guy definitely deserved it. Dude is definitely in the wrong business.

Snowboard;Failure of equipment, told him about it when i was done, he then proceeded to argue/disagree with me until i pointed it out. Then he saw it was actually failing and just stayed quiet. Probably the first and last time i rent from here

We rented snowshoes from here. Very good prices (snowshoe rentals for 12) but was unimpressed with the quality of the snowshoes (traction VERY poor) which made for a very rough day of snowshoeing. Convenient location for us (to get to mount rose). Service was okay, not great. Rented a jacket bc mine was too tight after many years. Came out with an XXL (Im 54 and normally wear a s/m). Seems like a go-to spot well liked by locals but as a visitor, was not impressed.

Rented from here twice with my girlfriend: first time was snowshoes a few weeks ago, second time was 07DEC2017, along with my gfs aunt. We all had a great experience with the owner. I think some of the older reviews may have gotten his attention to be more personable and patient, and I had no problems at all. He was patient and enthusiastic about helping us, and I also observed as he helped others. Maybe understaffed, so your experience might vary on the weekend depending on the crowd. As far as price is concerned, I paid $35 for a snowboard, boots, helmet, and a jacket since I forgot mine that day. Thats a steal, if you ask me. All in all, I will rent again from him, possibly even if I snowboard at Squaw!

Just a Mom and Pop Place, not a big corporate Business. Just old fashion care and service. Ive rented many times over the years, and yes during peak holiday periods, they may have been slow because of the overwhelming of customers, but at great savings over the ski resorts prices, well worth the wait. And to boot, the owner gives out free hot waxes even on skis not rented from them.

Stopped in to get rental info mid-afternoon for the next day. The gentleman, who I assumed to be the owner, was snappy, short and just wasnt pleasant. Acted like we were annoying him and told us to look on the wall for prices, wouldnt elaborate or discuss the rental equipment quality or brands. We left there and went to BOBOs and received awesome service and excellent equipment rentals at a great price. I DO NOT recommend this place based on the disagreeable disposition of the owner.

Without a doubt, the best place for winter apparel and equipment, in terms of price, quality and location. MTS has everything one would need for a day in the snow, and will even rent apparel.

Great place to rent out any skii equipments you need. One of the only places that takes snowbomb vouchers. And its reasonably close to the ski resort!

Demo is a joke in this place... What a cheap equipment. Although u pay premium. I have been skiing for 47 years... I m about to turn 50.... I have never quit skiing in my life.... From 9-4.... But unfortunately I rented equipment from mountain top resort on Christmas just because bobos was closed today... What a miserable skiing Christmas Day I had... The first par of boots made blisters on my ankles... I went back to return the equipment and the mother f* gave me a bigger size which as every good skier knows u can break any bones due the untiness of equipment... Somebody should shut this place down to avoid injuries to anybody in the future.SincerelyMaria E.A pissed customer thumbs down no good

The snowboards and skis are cheap to rent or buy with great quality results. This guy gives 100% free waxing to anyone even if you dont buy anything from him. Great quality eqipment

Worst customer service I’ve ever had. They started to rent me a snowboard, only to stop it mid process because they thought their boss might get mad because they were technicallh “closed”.What boss gets mad at an employee making money for a business when it’s closed!?!

I called to ask availability on snowboard rentals and all they could say is we have them... I asked what brand they rented and and he said I got to go and hung up!!
