It was great to find a shop where they bundled all of the components for the Kimberbell Hometown Candy Corn Quilt Shoppe. Additionally, I think it is wonderful that Jeanne is going have the class on Facebook and You Tube, which is especially helpful for those of us who still work full-time.

I have always had them do quality work on my sewing machine. However, they sometimes charge for more time that a job actually takes. I am sure that some of this is necessary to stay afloat financially, but I wish it was more transparent. Ie: We charge a minimum of X for all parts and labor. The last time I came in, I needed a hose replaced on my Shark vacuum. They said it would take two hours to do, so I just asked to buy the part. After some debate, they finally sold me a used replacement part. I swapped it out myself in maybe two minutes. The part did not quite clip in right because it was from another model, so I was frustrated. I never told them about it, so that bit is my fault. I realize that had I paid for the labor as quoted, they would have made a correction and gotten me the correct part. I just couldnt stomach the amount of time they wanted to charge me for.

This is a local/family business with fair prices and EXCELLENT customer service. I bought a machine and within a week or so of dealing with issues they swapped out the faulty machine for a brand new one!Not only do they know their stuff, they are there to support you with any questions or issues and offer full training and technical support for their products. It is true that there are extra COVID precautions in place and you may experience some difficulty upon entry, but this is no reason to fault them. They are doing their best to comply with state regulations, and who would blame them for erring on the side of caution to protect themselves, their staff and their customers! If you sew or vacuum, go to A1 - they are your best bet in town.

Not impressed with lack of customer service. I called, & as a result, had to bring sewing machine in. Got there, becuz of covid service was being done on a outside table by front door. Employee was helping a customer. I parked parallel to the storefront, with service table in front of me. Took my sewing machine out of the car, & placed it on the sidewalk next to my car, near storefront, & not too far from service table, to comply with social distancing. Returned to sit in my car & await for customer being helped in front of me to finish. Approx 10 -15 minutes. When prior customer was done, as I got out of my car to approach service table, 2 customers that had just driven up & parked, walked briskly, & approached the table in front of me. The store employee proceeded to assist them. Rude in my opinion - on the part of the 2 customers & store employee. Next time will consider a closer sewing machine service, as I came from Sparks.

This place is AMAZING!!I am a single full time Dad of an 11yr old daughter who wants to learn how to sew. I bought an older machine knowing NOTHING about sewing and took it in to A-1. Not only did they sell me the parts to fix my machine, they appraised it, adjusted it and spend a good 30 minutes explaining it to me!!! Service like this is something unheard of in most sectors. If you have need of good service, knowledgeable staff and a warm welcome, SHOP HERE!!!Ill never shop anywhere else!Oh! And they have sewing classes too!!!This is going to make my kids X-mas for sure!Thank you so much!!!

The store owner Patrick held himself out to be an Authorized Miele Dealer and Service/Warranty Installer. However, after ordering a part for my vacuum and showing up at the store, he did not know how to install the part! I contacted Meile Customer Service, only to find out that he has been given the BOOT, and is no longer allowed to sell or work/install on any of their product--HE IS NOT AN AUTHORIZED DEALER OF MIELE!

I had a vacuum with a head that wasnt spinning. I took it to A-1 and the young man who helped me, knew instantly what the issue was. He checked with another young man (sorry, have forgotten names) who said they could fix it in an hour. I came back in 40 minutes and the repair had just been completed. The price for the belt and the labor were MORE than fair. Id recommend A-1 in a heartbeat!

I have had the pleasure of doing business with Peter the owner of A 1 Vacuum and Sewing for over 5 years. The moment I walked through the doors I was treated as family. He sold me a Simplicity Vacuum that I absolutely LOVE. Since then I have purchased one more, and referred all family members to buy Simplicity products from Peter. Peter not only sold me an outstanding product, he has made sure to service and maintain it in better than new condition. He stands behind all the products he sells. It shows that he loves what he does and has pride in the products he sells. My family and I would not go anywhere but A1 for all my vacuum and sewing needs. You can be assured that you are buying the top of the line products at a price that is more than fair. His repair work is also superb. I highly, highly recommend A1 Vacuum and Sewing to anyone seeking a quality vacuum that will last even the toughest conditions.

I took my old canister vacuum in for repair last week. I picked it up and brought it home and had more problems with it. Patrick and I discussed repairing it again or not due to the fact that the store I originally bought it from probably would be going out of business soon and parts would be difficult to find. I asked him about the simplicity wonder and he demonstrated it for me. I was very impressed but still a little reluctant to purchase it. However I bought it, put it together when I got home. It did an outstanding job on my wood floors as well as my large rugs. I absolutely love love love it. Best vacum Ive ever purchased. Patrick and his staff have the best customer service that Ive ever come across. I will definitely purchase another simplicity when my downstairs vacum dies. In April, 2019, took my Pfaff machine in for a cleaning and I told the owner that the machine worked fine except the foot didnt respond real well. He went into great detail telling me how the spring worked and that it needed to be replaced. He charged me extra for this ($139.00 total for spring, labor to replace, and cleaning). I paid. I received a call that my machine was ready and picked it up within a couple of weeks. (I live a distance from Reno). In December I got the machine out to sew decorations. The foot still did not respond properly. I took the machine back to Patrick. First he said that it had been too long for him to guarantee the work. When he saw that it wasnt working for me he told me that he had some other people doing his work for 3 months and he couldnt guarantee their work. That was not working for me either. Then my husband came in and he said that Pfaff didnt make parts for my machine any longer. Then he said he fixed it. I asked how? He said he heated the oil around the screw with a heat gun. Then he said he couldnt get into the unit where the spring was and that I wouldnt be able to get into it either because it wasnt made to be accessed. I finally got so tired of hearing excuses that I asked for my machine. My husband and I listened intently as he went on and on about what he did, what he couldnt do, what I couldnt do and then charged me another $30 to get my machine back. I cant believe he charged me $170 total and all he did was clean my machine. All we wanted to do was get the heck out of there. I see that his company has a really high rating and that is why I took it there. I can not. recommend this company to anyone. Oh, by the way he left 2 screws out of the bobbin cover plate when he cleaned my machine. Beware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I came home, opened the top of the machine. Accessed the screw that controls the foot lever, oiled it and closed the machine. It works fine now. I feel like Ive been scammed by this guy! Again, I will say BEWARE!

Ive sewed on the Elna almost daily making many quilts for family and friends. On my way to the Reno Quilt Expo I brought my Elna in to A-1 for cleaning. Peter made me another great deal on the Baby Lock Crescendo plus a Koala cabinet. Not only I bought both machine and cabinet but my friend did also. Im so pleased with the Baby Lock. By far the best machine Ive ever owned.Peter and Patrick both went over and above expectations while providing me excellent customer service. I took my sewing machine in for repair a good many months ago - maybe even over a year. They had me pay up front for the repair which was around $95. When I picked it up, they had me pay again and though I thought it was strange, I paid without much thought. Later, I pulled out my receipt and the amounts of both transactions were the same so I knew it was probably a mistake, but we had some personal crisis happening at the time and I never got around to following through with checking it. It was also awhile before I went to use the machine, but when i did, it jammed up immediately -- the exact thing for which I had paid (twice) to repair. All this was long ago, and I was just ready to throw the machine away, but my husband thought he was doing me a favor and brought it back to them to fix, unaware of my questions about the bill or the previous repair that did no good. When I told him, he went back and explained it all, telling them he needed to pick up the machine and get his payment up front back. Instead of Im sorry that happened, let me see if we can look into that for you, or maybe we can fix it for a little less this time (or free if they really wanted to make it right), they gave him back the machine and his payment and that was the end of it. My husband was surprised that there was absolutely no effort to try to make things right with the complaint. Thats it? You arent going to do anything about the repair that we paid twice for and didnt work? They said they had no way of knowing about that. So, apparently there is no real record keeping either. Though it was a long time ago (I understand that) -- the total lack of concern made my husband wonder how the guy managed to author a book on Christianity (or something of that nature) that was displayed on the counter. They just dont care if we come back or not, even though I planned on looking at buying a new sewing machine and weve bought two vacuum cleaners from them. Things like this fail to surprise me anymore, and is exactly why I chose a store like this in the first place ... to patronize small business ... but I guess that lack of customer service is now everywhere. Truly disappointing.

After 50 years of hand quilting, my hands will just no longer allow it. Upon recommendation for several total strangers at 2 different fabric stores I thought I would stop by A1, and just check out a couple machines. I left that day with my very first brand new sewing machine, an Elna, because I knew they were good. While talking to Peter and realizing how far behind the times my 50+ year old Elna way, he also showed me the Janome Memory Craft 1500, it was very overwhelming, but nice to know I could trade in the new Elna I just bought at anytime to upgrade to the Janome. I got the new Elna home, used it over the weekend, loved it and was amazed at everything it could do. After 3 days I thought, well if this Elna can do all that, what can the Janome Memory Craft 1500 do? I returned to the store, ( I took the Elna just in case) …… and left with the Janome. Everyone in the store is so knowledgeable on all the machines. The classes are a huge plus. I would and I have recommend A1 Vacuum & Sewing to several of my friends and family. If you havent been there, you are really missing out not only on Sewing Machines, but the selection of Vacuums and repair service they offer is top of the line.

I had such a great experience buying a vacuum from Peter that I want to make sure people understand why!.Before I found A-1 Vacuum or contacted Peter I bought a Dyson from Costco. I tried it out at home and was happy with its suction but I did not like other things about it...the bag-less operation requiring me to play in the dirt to empty the container for one thing. It was fun to see stuff swirl up out of my carpet but that seemed like a fad that would be less fun with time. It has Onboard tools that I found clumsy and inconvenient. I returned the Dyson to Costco. Then I had to make a trip South so I went to the Oreck store in Riverside California and tested the Oreck Magnesium. It is a sleek simple and fantastically light weight machine, but didnt seem as powerful as the Dyson. The store manager told me the Magnesium actually did not have as much power as the Dyson because it didnt need it. His logic was that the Magnesium has better brushes than Dyson so it doesnt need as much power. I was not impressed enough with that argument to pay hundreds of dollars for a less powerful machine.I had owned an original Oreck decades earlier and was happy with it back then. But now I wanted more power than the new Orecks have. I wanted the clean simple design and light weight of the Oreck and the suction of the Dyson. But that seemed like an impossibility so I decided that I would buy a cheap used Oreck to hold me over till I had time to really research good vacuums.I found Peter on Craigslist because he had refurbished Orecks advertised. I emailed him some questions and he replied to my email the same day in the evening. He seemed helpful so we went in to the store to see his used Orecks. They looked good for used vacuums and came with 90 day warranties. I was ready to just buy one.Luckily he suggested I try the new SIMPLICITY FREEDOM upright. I listened to Peter explain all the great features. I really LOOKED at its DESIGN...clean and simple. It turned out to be the QUALITY vacuum of my dreams. NO clunky Onboard tools hanging on it. Lightweight. The EASIEST bag changing system I have seen on an upright. And the little thing SEEMS MORE POWERFUL THAN THE DYSON!!!It came with a free little canister vac that also has fantastic suction and all the best tools. For me, having this little LIGHTWEIGHT powerful SPORT canister Is a much more functional system than lugging Onboard tools around every time I vacuum.I had never heard of Simplicity vacuums. Then Peter explained its the same company that makes Simplicity DRESS PATTERNS! Well of course Ive heard of Simplicity! And Simplicity vacuums are MADE IN AMERICA.I love everything about both Simplicity machines I bought. Anyone needing a new or used vacuum should check with Peter before buying. If you are not familiar with the POWERHOUSE little SIMPLICITY vacuums you should try one out before you buy something else.I like to save money. But I have learned that price and cost are often very different. I would rather pay a higher price for one quality machine that will perform well for many many years instead of buying several cheap machines that will end up COSTING me more over the same amount of years.Go talk to Peter. He seems to really want us to get what is best for us and be happy with our choice. I really wanted a new vacuum for myself, but a 90 day warranty on a used $100 Oreck? That still seems like a good deal if you want a used vacuum!
