This review is just for dropping off recyclables and extra garbage at the transfer station. It was super easy. We had tons of extra cardboard and styrofoam and were able to dump at the station no problems
Customer service is laughably incompetent. Worst CS I’ve dealt w ever.Follow up I was contacted by management and they responded appropriately and addressed my issues. Hopefully, they will also educate their staff.

Waste management in Reno is a joke. This is not the American way of free enterprise when there’s no other options to provide services if you’re unhappy with a particular service. I was never informed that it’s mandatory to use waste management when I purchased my home. I was doing my own waste removal for several months before I was told I was required to pay a bill for services I did not use. Then there’s no other option to choose another waste removal service or just go DIY and use my own dump containers to go to the dump. They force you to pay for the service and that is completely a monopoly and should be illegal. I’ve had problems with waste management and other cities as well so it’s not just Reno. At one point my receptacle had A broken wheel and waste management picked it up to repair it without me asking. That was actually a good initiative, however I did not receive back my race receptacle for four or five months and I had to call them repeatedly and make comments online as well as Better Business Bureau until finally somebody got back to me. They continued to assure me that the waist receptacle would be returns the next day or the following week for four or five months straight and no race receptacle was ever returned. During this time I had waist piling up in my garage and was disposing of it myself but it became a health concern as well. There’s also been times when for no given reason or a good reason my recycle wasn’t picked up because the lid wasn’t entirely closed all the way down, or times win the recycle and garbage receptacles were picked up but I come home to find waist scattered all around and blowing in the wind down the street because it didn’t all get picked up and it got spilled and they didn’t do anything to pick up the spilled waste. Overall I’m extremely dissatisfied with waste management and have been for years and I don’t see them as a good company or a good outreach for the community. They don’t service their products well and it’s completely unacceptable
WM has consistently and reliably serviced my trash and recycling needs for more than 10 years. I do highly recommend.
I ordered a steel dumpster around June and it was delivered sometime near June 27th. It was to be placed on my driveway at the end as to not block the gate. They blocked the gate, which wasnt much of a problem at first. It was supposed to be removed after 7 days. It is now August 4th and after 3 failed truck attempts to move it and dozens of calls to WM myself, they are supposedly finally sending the frame to remove it as has been told to them by myself and even the drivers for over a month. Dont order a dumpster from them unless youre okay with it not being removed for an indeterminate amount of time accompanied by the most incompetent management and customer service system Ive ever experienced.
Im not sure where the disconnect in this company is. We live in a new development and our house has been skipped twice so far. The first time we let it go.This last Thursday we were out of town and left the trash out Thursday morning. Our neighbor was to bring the can in, he called us to inform us it was still full that night, but the other houses were emptied. We called WM and were told they would come pick up the trash Friday. No one came. We called again today (Monday - 6/7), and after waiting on the phone for 30 minutes were transferred to another call center. Finally, we spoke to Emily who said to leave our trash out and WM would come by today to pick it up as a courtesy. Its now Monday night and the trash is still outside, waiting to be picked up.

We constantly run into issues with this company as our neighborhood is notorious for having full street parking and trash pick-up issues.First, their website is unhelpful. Instructions for how to complete a request are incorrect or appear to be disabled. For example, I tried to report a missed pick-up, something the website said I should be able to do through my account but was unable to complete (or even locate for that matter). I have had similar experiences with requesting changes in service, locating container sizes/options, etc.In trying to contact by phone, I once waiting several minutes only to finally get through and wait another 5-7 minutes with the phone actually ringing before hanging up in frustration. If you want to get a hold of someone, you must go through chat or email.Finally, on Friday, our trash can was placed out around 8 a.m. the morning of our pick-up day. I returned to the street around 5 p.m. to find my and my neighbors trash cans still full with no notes or notice from the company, who typically pick-up later in the afternoons. It appears other trash cans were moved in front of ours in order for someone to street park.Sunday I submitted an email indicating this as well as notifying them I could not submit a missed pick-up report through the website. This is the response I received:After further reviewing our routing information, we found that our trash driver noted in his log that no containers were out for service on 8/28 at 4:18 p.m. Our drivers begin their routes early in the morning, and these routes run late into the day. To guarantee service, we do ask that the containers or bags be curbside the night before. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Our driver will return on the next service day.I am all for a company that stands by its employees, but Im unimpressed with a dismissive response that points the finger back at us suggesting we put our trash cans out earlier.Thanks to the monopoly this company has in town, we dont have many options but to be wakened by the dumping of a large metal trash container as early as 4:30 a.m. at the apartments across the way or to basically be told too bad in response to a complaint should not be acceptable.Edit: Skip the “customer service” and go straight to leaving a Google review. I never followed up (didn’t feel worth it after multiple emails, calls, chats initially), but hopefully that gets you somewhere.
This company is a joke. I tried to set up service for a home I purchased and they werent able to find my address (even though the previous owner has an existing account). They spent 45 minutes transferring me to 3 different offices. Then the final lady told transferred me to a number that wasnt valid.

I have have not had my recycling picked up curbside for 5 weeks now. Very dissatisfied when you pay for a service and it does not occur and then Waste management Reno does not do anything to resolve it.
Who the hell is allowed to do their job like this? Completely irresponsible and lazy crap. Most of us would be fired and disowned from our profession, but its fine here. Last week our recyclables were open too much. They were not. We left a google review, talked to customer service and they said they would pick them up today. Of course, they did not. Thanks a lot, for being completely awful. We are not going to pay you anymore. We will get rid of our own trash and recycling.
Tried to get an answer on the new 2021 recycle schedule for two days but no one would answer the phone. Finally at 6 pm on 1/5/21 the we received an email stating WM had screwed up the new recycle schedule. Not that difficult to post to your website or prerecord a message on your phone! In the past I have been able to get thru fairly quickly but this experience was very frustrating!

I don’t really have any problems with the garbage removal but it makes me uncomfortable that I am just in my kitchen and as they come to get my garbage a man looked through my window and was staring at me. They shouldn’t be looking in anyone’s houses...

The service was residential garbage collection and it has not been performed in 4 weeks even after 4 weeks of phone calls and directions executed I still have bags and bags of garbage and a full trash can. No resolution offered in my latest conversation. As a senior citizen its a shame to see someone operate a business this way.
Three weeks in a new residence, and WM has only pickup up once of the three scheduled days. Multiple bags left dumped on the ground down my street. The service here is more of a public nuscence than anything. Mulitple calls to have missed pickups come back. Their policy is to come back within 48 hours, but they have yet to come back at all.
I have trash and recycling service through wm and have had numerous issues. Just today they decided not to pick up our recycling bin and will not come back for 2 weeks. They say that all recycling must fit in the bin so my already full bin will not be removed until then. Speaking with customer service yields no results and no worries since they are the monopoly for trash service here.Update: After speaking with wmcares, we were able to have someone come and service our recycling the following week. Why this could not be handled the same day or the following day I will never understand. I appreciate the understanding and customer service of the corporate WM team. I increased my rating to 3 stars because it should not have required me writing a review, getting contacted, and then having things remedied. Calls to our local office should have allowed a remedy to the problem right away. I am still not happy that there is a monopoly here on waste removal.
So I moved to Reno on August 6th and I have been able to get my recycling picked up one (1) time. They have also missed garbage but everything they go to re-schedule, it still does not get picked up. I have had route Operations Managers call me and give their word about it being picked up. However that is not the case. I have never seen such disorganization and mismanaged group. Is there anyone else in Reno that does garbage collection.
Ordered a dumpster on July 16th. Said going to deliver between 6-8 am. Dumpster didn’t arrive until 3pm or so and so I thought we would have at least a half day until it gets picked up. Nope, they certainly are not late when it comes to picking it up early.
The driver that services my home that I am renting has been harassing me to place my trash can on someone elses property line. Then last week he decide to threatened me that if I dont put my trash can across the way it will not be service. That is considered a threat. Your guys job is to take my trash can not to harassing people. This issue has been going on for several months. My landlord has called several time and problem was not resolved. I called and hoping my trash will be taken next week.
Worthless. They offer discounts then dont apply the discounts. This is a monopoly that should be responsive to customers, but they do not need to be or care to be. All the people who work here should be ashamed of themselves. They should leave this company and work somewhere worthy of their skills.

I can’t get hold of this company. Busy signal. They have thrown excess trash bags on my lawn before. Today, I had excess trash WITH the blue sticker and they didn’t even bother to pick it up. They never put my trash cans back, they always leave it in front of neighbors house across the street. Why???
The driver must not like us even tho we have literally never met or seen each other. They have on multiple occasions left our recycling for no reason. We are a house on the corner, our can was visible and all our neighbors trash and recycling got picked up but ours was not. I checked inside and didnt see any items that couldnt be recycled and tried calling but no one answers their phones apparently. Ive had months of non-existent recycling service and still pay full price. Seems like other reviewers have the same experience. So why exactly are we all paying for a service only for them not to do what we pay them for?
One star because I cannot leave zero and, fair enough, they do pick up trash. After that, however, they categorically proceed to drop the can in the middle of my driveway instead of at the curb where I left it. Ive called to and made complaints easily half a dozen time, but it continues. They keep saying that a route supervisor is going to address this, because drivers are apparently supposed to remain stopped until the can is back on the curb and not keep rolling while using the crane arm. not my words, Waste Management customer service told me this, but it makes sense and sounds safer. Still, nothing, and nearly every week I have to stop in the street to move the can out of my driveway to get in the garage.
I saw the negative reviews and I dont mean to question their experiences. But I moved to Reno very recently and my experience with Waste Management thus far is excellent. They have been extremely friendly, very responsive to requests and have done everything exactly as promised. They have in fact been a huge improvement from the services at my previous home in another state. Thank you.
The drivers will throw out your personal garbage cans if you use the extra Blue trash sticker. Beware they are lazy and dont care that your personal cans will cost 40 dollars to replace.. This has happened 2 times to me in the last month.
The worst experience Ive had with any company so far! We are going on 6 weeks of no recycling! We were standing on our front porch and saw they guys skip us! After calling in many times they say driver didnt see the cans out! Calling in is great but they never fulfill their obligations or promises to amend whats wrong! I wish there were more options! NOT WORTH IT!

Missed the whole street Tuesday morning. First claimed they drove by at 7:45 am (for over 20 years pick up is much, much later). When told garbage was out by 7:00 am, the story changed to 6:45 am. Said theyd send out a truck. Didnt. Now claim that cant and wont happen because homes are outside of the McCarran loop.
Our house just got skipped. Didn’t even touch the garbage can. All they did was grab the bag to the left of it that had a waste management sticker on it and left the garbage can right there. How about you hire some non lazy people and you would have a better rating.But we all know you don’t care about customer service because we have to use it anyways.
Very poor service!!! I live in Reno Nevada and if i need to make a payment or talk to someone, i dont need to talk to someone out of state. Sending a money order and waiting 2/3 weeks for a payment to get possessed because the payment gets possessed in L.A. is a joke!! Please do everything you can to implement mandatory recycling to multi home units soon. The world needs access to recycling and currently my HOA has stated recycling is a hoax and will never allow it on our property.

I am literally at my wits end with this company. What happened to consumer choice/monopoly laws?? They often do not pick up our recycling and when I call to find out why, I am ALWAYS TOLD that the driver reported the cans were not out! Last time, my husband was LITERALLY STANDING OUT NEXT TO THE CAN. I also cannot pay them and have called more than once to be told that I would be contacted by a supervisor and have NEVER received a follow up call. Meanwhile, I am accruing late fees, awesome. I have delt with some pretty terrible credit card companies but these people take the cake on the worst company I have EVER DELT WITH!!!!!!!!! I wish the consumers had a choice!!!!!!!!!!
Yesterday morning at 7 AM your truck backed up into my neighbors driveway and took down a live power pole line. This line landed on my car, and in my driveway. The police arrived to tell me I couldnt leave my home until NV Energy was able to stabilize the situation. This took until the late afternoon to resolve. I missed an entire day of work because of this and so did my wife. I caught the entire thing on my home video surveillance camera and your driver just drove away didnt even skip a beat, how is that for service? Oh and you never picked up my trash either, I pay for this service and not only did you put my family in a dangerous situation, what am I even paying you for?????????
I have lived on the same gravel road for 17 years. There are 4 houses on it. The grade in front of mine is about 20% steeper than the rest of the road, second house up. The road, according to the planning committee, or whoever makes the rules for these things said the road had to be 17 feet wide, which it was. But, along the other side of the road, where the cans are supposed to be has eroded, and filled with weeds. Also, being the road is so steep, I have to lean my can on my fence post, which is simply a rail fence, so that the can is easily seen by any passerby. And I was not the idiot who designed it for Nevada winds. I have spoke to them so many times, a special note is supposed to be in our address, and our usual guy always picks it up. But when he goes on vacation, well, its never picked up because the guy actually has to get his lazy a** out of the truck and drag it around. Naturally, when it is 20 degrees out and raining, it didnt get picked up. There is no other place that isnt 3 times the money......to pick up garbage.
I actually thought the staffers here were really friendly and welcoming; Im surprised they have such bad reviews otherwise. Waste Mangement as a company overall kinda sucks - I give reviewers that. If I were to rate WM overall, Id give them 1- or 2-stars. Their downtown transfer station/dump facility is a joke. But the staff at this particular office seemed to have their ***t much more together.

Just terrible. Completely undependable. When they finally do get out of bed and decide to roll over to our neighborhood it can be nighttime before they pick up. Or they miss a pick up, then call me at night to tell me when the rescheduled pickup with be and then DONT BOTHER TO SHOW UP FOR THE RESCHEDULED PICKUP. Awful, just awful. Need a minus 5 star rating.
Why wasnt my recycling picked up this last Wednesday? No note was left.They didnt pick up our recycling can. We called and they said they would be out that day to fix their error and pick it up. They never did. We called the next day and they said they would pick it up that day and they never did. We called the next day and they said they would puck it up that day and they never did. They lied to us every day we called until they finaly picked it up on the next scheduled pick up day. They care not and cant even be honest about their lack of caring.

I just witnessed one these lazy garbage men signal to my dad whos a 70 year old man with a bad knee to come from the front door of his house to fix the position of the garbage can so it can be grabbed by the truck. How hard is it to realize the guy youre signaling to is an elderly man? Why couldnt the garbage guy hop out and help him out instead of expecting him to run out and fix it? It was really upsetting to see. Is it against their contract to leave the truck?
If I could give them zero stars, I would. You cannot discontinue service in Reno unless you prove no-one is in the house. This happened twice on a rental - they kept charging until they could verify no-one lived there. Of course, since it went one week into a period, I was charged for the whole period. Great, stopped, but they started automatic billing again at the first of the year. Never refunded for that quarter either!Another time, I had automatic payments; they continued billing almost $200 worth to me in addition to the renters. Still trying to get all of that back! Takes forever to get someone on the phone. Can I sue for mental pain and suffering?Zero stars!
Impossible on web site or phone to get a date for recycle pickup. Site only says “every other Tuesday” - no help if I don’t know if it was last Tuesday or two weeks ago.
I want to give no stars. Because both times today in my alleyway I had to put all 8 recycling and garbage cans away because they were blocking my way of getting in and out of my parking spot. If you are able to move the cans from their original spot you can put them back the way they were instead of leaving them in front of someones parking spot in the alleyway. My old garbage man put them nicely back every time he would take the trash and recycling.
Drivers are rushed and rude, I had bundle of cardboard ready to og to recycle and they wouldnt take it they said I needed a additional trash sticker and to put it with the trash can how are we supposed to save the planet with recycling if we cant even recycle?
Waste Management Reno is very disappointing. I have consistent problems with both trash and recycle only getting partially emptied. No, my bins are not over stuffed or packed tight, but somehow only about half the contents get deposited into the truck. Its very frustrating.
I called Waste Management to inform them that one of their collectors came to my door and argued with me about his not collecting mine or the other neighbors garbage last week. Two phone calls from his alleged manager telling me to come outside. I refused. The cretin claimed he couldnt see my two containers, then lied about emptying them. He emptied one, then started filming before he noticed the other one. The company has the records of the neighbors and my own calls as well as told me that none of the collectors should knock on anybodys door or have someone call a customer. The agent apologized and said that they will look into it.
Waste Management is the MOST non-responsive company Ive ever dealt with. We sold our house in November and was due a refund. It is May and Ive called every week. Often Ive emailed. I have not talked to the same person once. They have returned emails or calls 2 times with wrong information. I cannot even get them to change the address correctly. If there were another company, Id use it.
This whole thing started with my missed pick-up last Wednesday on the 14th! I called on Thursday to report it thinking that would solve the problem. Well it did not! I talked to 8 different people between Thursday afternoon and Tuesday of the following week and each person gave me a different reason why they didnt pick up my two cans, from they werent out there to they (the cans) were to heavy, which is it!!!! Here it is Wednesday the 21st and Im STILL waiting with my two cans sitting in the same place as they were a week ago!!I have a 6 page letter of complaint that Im sending to Waste Management, the BBB and the Health Department. Maybe we can get some action! I sure hope so. Horrible customer service! They have the gall to raise there prices and reduce their service (IF THAT IS EVEN POSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!!)
You all should be ashamed of how lazy and untrustworthy your garbage men are. I saw them literally break the fence around my apartment dumpsters. The fence snapped in half because they were being careless and they just drove off like it didnt even happen. Shameful. These people are constantly leaving trash scattered all over because they are truly careless.
We dont even live in Nevada and they just started randomly taking money out of our account! They used our PO Box (which is in Sparks) as proof we are in Nevada. I have NO IDEA how they got our account information.
Every commercial account that uses Waste Management should carefully review EVERY invoice they get for errors. They are notorious for finding ways to up your bill or make mistakes in their favor. Never sign one of their contracts without carefully reading the back and cross out all the scary language.
Unfortunate that this is the only provider in Reno. Waste Management needs to adjust the customer service to allow for swift resolution to missed stops, rubbish removal and services that are paid, yet not received. Drivers need to communicate better with the customer and management to resolve issues or non-compliance with dumping requirements. ie. if blinds are sticking out of a container that should not warrant a lost pickup for the week.
We are issued extra trash stickers and they NEVER do their job and pick it up, even when bundled exactly as requested.

They had us paying for two pickups a month (the service we requested) but listed us under one.... it gets better... then they tried to pick up only *Every *Other *Month.Very interesting, and on going, mi$take considering we have called FOUR times to fix it!It should be illegal (1.) I manage many large multi dwelling communities in Reno, NV and this farce of a monopoly keeps admitting to being responsible for messing up on service collection and billing, but they arrogantly state that they will not credit the customer for lack of service. The call center managers can not be spoken to unless they call you. It’s frustrating enough that they don’t do their job and they admit to being responsible for mistakes but they have an attitude when you speak to them. In Reno we have no other option for trash service as City of Reno has given them a monopoly. I would terminate this joke of a service provider in a heart beat if given the opportunity. But my hands are tied. I guess they know they can be substandard, lazy, inconsistent and rude because we have no alternative. When you admit to fault you should compensate your customer for lack of service PERIOD!

I live in an apartment complex that contracts with WWM. I have a need to dispose of a mattress. I have a sedan. They suggested that I take it to the dump as they provide no bulk pick up services in the city of Sparks. As a costly service provider, they are worthless. Since most waste disposal companies are controlled by the mafia, I expected better service.
Just ordered a 4 yard dumpster. Great service from Tony.
They only took half of of my full dumpster. Two weeks in a row!. No help from the call center. Didnt even want to take my complaint.And like another post, it took about a month to replace a green can that they damaged, in the past. Bad information and no communication from the call center to local office.

Called and they stated that the driver saw no can outside I know these lazy f $@% drivers dont need any evidence to show their boss why they missed a stop all they have to say is there was no can outside everytime they miss one..for a paid service WM should be ashamed Im installing surveillance for future trash problems. Im a small business in town...that said having to put up with a waste management company that has the most horrible service...from the pick up trucks and their drivers to the customer service agents...none of them really care what the customer has to say...they assume automatically that the drivers are right. I switched to a tote from a 2 yard bin back before the winter of the 2016 and since they switched it i never got a pick EVER...i had to call to to get the only 2 pick ups that they every did...and today it is 8-28-17 almost coming on to a year and they still dont pick it but they keep charging me a bill every month.i call to talk to manager 6 months ago and no response...they call one day to recover the past due that i was not going to pay because they are not providing the service that was promised...that day they said a field manager was to come to my location who its been almost 2 months since that conversation with the agent in the customer service department.Waste Management is taking advantage of being the only garbage removal company in the area which is wrong and someone should do something about it.

The absolute worst managed company Ive ever dealt with. Ever. AWFUL! The same problem with them repeatedly. Ive contacted the City about them and the City evidently cares about as much as WM does about its horrible customer service. That is, nada. I guess that is what we get with a monopoly.

Poor recycle sevice, poor customer service. Recycle guy goes out of his way to not pick up the recycle. The first 2 pickups the driver didnt pick up my recycle. Then writes on top off can must be 3 ft from garbage can. Ok my bad, start putting it 3 ft away. Dont know what i did to this guy but he has made it personal. Picks up my recycle about 50% of the time. Never complained till now. Call customer service and im told he said i didnt have it out. Even when i put it out the night before he dosnt pick it up. Customer service just brushes you off put you on hold forever. Tells you superisors are there but they dont talk to customers they are there to manage. Anyone else have this issue?
Its been one month and still no trash can. Ive called 3 times and in a week I should receive my can. Only a business like this could survive with this much inefficiency. Called, set up an account June 30th its now August 1st and still no can. Sad, Im glad I dont work for this company.
They broke our garbage can. Then one morning we woke to loud honking. Went out . Driver said he couldnt get his lazy ass out of the truck to move trash can over 2 inches so he could pick it up. He was hell a rude to us

Stops disabled vets trash pick up after 31 years and over 2250 times by saying its a safety issue. Tell me to take it to another road thats .3 miles away, up and down a gravel road that is as steep as 18 degrees!
WM Sucks. Took them three weeks to replace my broken garbage can. This week they picked everyones garden waste but mine. Lazy buggers make a fortune on the recycling and cannot even pick up my trash.
These dolts have not picked up the recycle trash for a month.
Waste Management is a joke. They dont value their customers at all.
Been trying to get them to pick up a can for 4 weeks. Every time I call they say well pick it up today, well today hasnt arrived yet !!!!!!
Watched the recycle truck just pass on by my neighbor and Is recycle bins. Thanks glad we get what we pay for.

This is a fraudulent criminal enterprise!!! The city insists that all residents contract with WMI, yet we apparently have no recourse when they do not perform. It has been 3 weeks since my recycling was picked up. My can is overflowing.
Yesterday was Christmas why did they come so early when are they going to come back to empty out peoples trash cans mine is filled!!!
