Our 5 year old son has been attending classes 3x a week for about a month now. He really enjoys the group classes. I’m impressed with the way the 2 sensei’s talk and communicate with the kids. The kids are having fun while learning discipline and self defense. My son is looking forward to the time he will get to start striking. Highly recommended, my boy enjoys immensely.
We took our 5 year old son to Evolution and we are so glad we did. They are great teachers and very patient with the little guys. He loves it! The progress he’s shown in a short amount of time has been very impressive, and it’s really teaching him a great work ethic and attention to detail. Ask for Patrick as a Sensei. He’s terrific! Highly recommend
Ive been going to this studio for a few years now, mostly following my long time instructor. He, and all the other instructors are professional, courteous, and willing to deal with a woman of a certain age to work with me on techniques more suited for a small woman. This is a long winded way of saying they are flexible with the material (which is practical) and especially at the higher ranks will help you with finding better ways to work with your talents and body types to be effective. The business model of private lessons mixed with group classes, while a little more expensive gives better value based on my experiences with other schools.
Our boys- ages 6 & 7 have been coming here twice a week for a few months and are now hooked! The firm structure that the sanseis lead with has been wonderful. Our boys’ manners have gotten better at home since we started karate. They practice their moves at home and are always extra happy in the mornings that they know they get to go to karate later that evening. We couldn’t be happier with our experience!
My son has been studying with Sensei Archie for a few years now. What he receives from him is much more than learning Karate. There is a sense of community in the dojo that has made my son feel respected, cared for and appreciated for his character. He also has so much fun there and has been getting stronger and much more confident. I recommend warmly!
Very pleased with the cleanliness and professionalism of everyone in the studio. All the Sensei’s are great with kids and really make you feel welcome. Highly recommend!
My daughter loves her Karate classes and looks forward to this every week! Thank you Sensei Robert, we are thankful to have found a really amazing karate class for my daughter!
I have 2 kids, a girl age 11 and a boy age 8, who have been coming to this dojo for around 3-4 years. They both really enjoy all the group classes and the once a week private class.I had an interesting experience with my daughter’s 6th grade PE teacher that I wanted to share and what she thought about karate. She wants to see strength exercises at least 2-3 times a week, such as push ups, squats, lunges, kicks exercises, etc. also some cardio exercises. But when my 11-year old daughter did her PE journal, and she just wrote karate, without any details on what she does in the class, her teacher didn’t accept it and didn’t give her any points! Shocking! What was she thinking? So it turned out that she thought we only do forms in karate, no cardio and no strength exercises, which is totally not true! I couldn’t believe it!That’s why I’m writing this review to show that karate is no joke! It’s a serious martial art and also a great workout! I know that more people, like her PE teacher, think the same about karate, what a bad reputation for karate, which is kinda sad. So after my daughter put in more details about what she does in her karate classes, such as push-up, squats, lunges, mountain climbers, planks, sit-ups, lots of variety of kicks, etc. then her PE teacher gave her full points on those, finally! From my perspective, taking my kids to this dojo for the past few years and watching them doing karate workout in the group classes, I felt uplifted and exhausted (in a good way) just watching them doing all the stuff they do, but at the same time, I love seeing that my kids get great results! They do varieties of warm up exercises, stretches, cardio and strength exercises, and even fun games, on top of the karate forms and self-defenses maneuvers. During their once a week private class, they go through the karate forms and self-defense forms, in more details. So in my opinion, again, karate is no joke! Definitely no pain no gain! I don’t know about karate in other dojos, but karate in Evolution dojo in Redondo Beach is awesome! Both of my kids got great exercises, on top of learning their forms and self-defense maneuvers. They always come out very sweaty, tired, but feeling happy and great after class. They also have good things to say about their Senseis too. Kudos to Sensei Robert and Sensei Patrick! 👍
We followed our favorite Sensei after our home location was closed due to Covid. The instructors are caring yet show the kids what is necessary to succeed in their dojo. My son has been with Sensei Archie since day one and I KNOW that is why he continues with him. Thank you for everything you do for our kids and thank you for continuing to give them a place to move outdoors and continue their training.
Sensei Archie is an amazing instructor. He cares about his students and fosters growth in so many areas. My son has gained karate skills but more importantly has matured under the tutelage of Sensei Archie. Sensei Archie is a class act and we are proud to call him Sensei.
I can’t even begin to say how much Sensei Archie has impacted my girls’ lives for the better. They entered his dojo four years ago and to my great surprise the Karate instruction has only been part of the benefit. The girls have learned self-reliance, discipline, respect for themselves and others, and they have become part of a community of like-minded, loving, and supportive parents and kids. I would highly recommend Sensei Archie and his colleagues to anyone, young or old, looking for a great learning experience.
This place ripped me off. The person who I signed up with said I could try it for 30 days (I paid a discounted rate for the first 30 days), and could quit with a 2 week notice, but then after two weeks when I tried to quit, the manager, Chris explained that I would have to put in a 30 day notice. In other words I would have had to let them know we want to quit the same day we signed up. That makes no sense! They have a crazy long contract like you are renting an apartment. Its just a kids class. I mistakenly assumed the long contract was to protect themselves from getting sued in case of accidents/injuries, but no, he used it to rip me off. I tried to reason with him, but he charged my credit card for another month regardless. This class is expensive, so that was no fun paying another month for 2 kids that hated going. Ive never had another kids class treat cancellations like that. 2 weeks notice is plenty. Why did we try to quit? Just one example of what made us want to try somewhere else... On our first day a teen was leading the class. I guess this is how they earn belts by helping the little ones, which is fine except no one noticed he was screaming push ups! push ups! in my 4 year olds face. My son didnt know what a push up was, so he was confused. Instead of teaching him, this teen just kept yelling push ups! louder and louder like he was dumb or deaf. No, hes 4. That should never happen.
Meeting Sensai Kris and Patrick at Hermosa Fiesta was the best thing to happen at Hermosa Fiesta in the decade+ Ive been going. Both our boys (6 & 4) have been consistent for 8 months and now my wife and I have started (2 months now). You get a great workout and learn self defense and martial arts from a caring and experienced team. The other families Ive met are wonderful and the whole experience has been terrific.I wrote that review about 3 years ago. The 4 of us are still going strong and loving it. Sensei Robert, as well as Patrick and Kris, are absolutely terrific. For adults and kids, but most of all, for families, this is a wonderful experience.
Great instructors, high commitment to quality
