5.0 star rating 2/21/2019New Years Day, I shut down my 8 year old HP Desktop computer and left the house to enjoy a party at a friends house. The good feelings for the new year ended the next morning when I tried to start my computer. D-e-a-d dead. No lights, no hard drive activity, no fans sound---nothing. And I was in the middle of recording holiday time donations made to the dog rescue non-profit org to which I belong. After I recovered from panicking, I went online with another PC to look for computer repair near me (my previous computer guy had moved to Colorado, so he would be of no help with what was likely a hardware issue). I read the superlative Yelp reviews for Paul, owner of Alpha Computer Support, so I gave him a call. He said that he could come over later that afternoon to take a look. After discussing the problem, we both figured the computer would need to go into the shop. Rather than wait hours, I drove right over to Pauls and left my computer there. By that evening, the computer was working but Paul said he wanted to keep it till the next morning. Sure enough, it would not boot---dead again. Paul said the problem was most likely the power supply, but it could be the motherboard. Pauls advice was to spend under $200 to replace the power supply but not to put any more money into repairing an 8 year old PC if that didnt solve the problem. Paul ordered and installed a new, more powerful power supply unit, then kept the computer for 2 more days to be sure it would start each morning and evening before returning it to me. That was 2 months ago, and my computer has been booting fine each and every time I press the start button. Paul is fantastic. As a new online business based in Hermosa Beach I need to have a functioning laptop at all times. For some reason and despite my hours of trying to fix the problem my laptop wasnt connecting to the internet.I looked up Paul on my phone and drove to his place in a panic. I hadnt called prior and he had other clients but by the end of day he had fixed my problem.Paul is very calm and professional and the prices are reasonable. Im a music producer who works in Redondo Beach. The DC jack on the inside of my laptop that contains all of my projects broke and it literally had to be sautered back on to the motherboard. I originally called a computer repair shop in the area and they said they wouldnt do it because their success rate for this problem wasnt good. Frys quoted me 2 weeks to fix it. That wasnt an option for me. I found Paul online and explained to him how detrimental to my business this problem was and he was able to get it back to me completely repaired in 3 days! The best part was that he was actually cheaper than Frys! I couldnt be more ecstatic with his amazing service and will never go anywhere else for my computer needs. Im extremely grateful that I found Paul with Alpha Computer to repair my HP Touch Smart 610 all in one desktop. My computer seemed to have a mind of its own. It was like I had a ghost inside just opening programs or files on its own while I was composing an email or looking at photos or files on it. Paul took in my computer he had it for a couple of days working on it, yet his pricing for the hours he spent on my computer was extremely reasonable and Im grateful he was so kind in working with my budget. His knowledge & expertise is extremely valuable and worth every dollar he normally charges, I am currently out of work do to several back surgeries and I didnt have the funds to pay for repairs on my computer so I delt with my computer daily while it eas . He spent so much more time on my then what he charged me for. He also took the time to expain to my husband what had happened to my computer. I contacted Paul from an internet search. I had tried another company with no luck at all. Paul walked into an almost impossible networking problem in our office regarding connecting an AT&T modem with a Cisco router. He was extremely patient and stuck with it until he figured it out. All of this and an extremely reasonable price. I will continue to use Paul for our network service.
