The Ave came recommended by a local friend when we unexpectedly got stuck in California earlier this year. My son (6) and I both had haircuts and the service and haircuts were great. Mike and Shannon were both excellent. I would highly recommend the Ave and would not hesitate to go back should we be in the area in the future.Just to note, this review is overdue, we were there in July 2020. Also, this is a barbershop who will do kids cuts, not a specialist kids barbershop; our son sits quietly when getting his haircut and he had a great experience talking a bit with Mike. I would certainly recommend the Ave for kids cuts - probably the best cut my son has had - but if your kid is wiggly then maybe a larger shop with more kid-related distractions might be a better bet.

Always a pleasure getting my hair cut and colored here. Shannon is so talented and lovely to be around. They have a very nice outdoor area to get your haircut and everyone wears masks, including those getting hair cuts. I send all my friends here and cannot recommend them enough!!! What are you waiting for??! Go get a haircut!

Extremely disappointed by my recent experience. I scheduled on the Booksy app which they recommend and showed up in advance of my appointment time. When I checked in at the front I was notified that my barber would be running about 10 minutes late. At that time I was told to wait near the front and they would come get me when it was my time to go. After about 15 minutes of waiting with no update I went back in to check if he had arrived and was told that he had, but it was now too late to accommodate me. This was a complete waste of time.

Barbers that give you beer and are just a few blocks from the beach, (thats a lot of Bs), but theyre also really nice and give good cuts. At the end of the day, isnt that what you want? Each Barber has a bit of their own flare oh, but I love that about this place. They also have a Nifty online booking system which makes appointments a breeze.

Got a great Brohawk cut by Corey. No appointment, no problem. Went in around noon. Not too busy. Very reasonable price and outstanding quality. I also got my out of control beard squared away.

I decided to check this barbershop out 3 years ago and havent gone anywhere else since. All the barbers are talented and it has a very laid back vibe. They offer beer as you wait too. Ask for Tina, you wont be disappointed.

Came here for an emergency cut; Cory(?) did a fantastic job. I only had my sides taken care of and it came out cheaper than I expected. I thought itd be $26 for a regular haircut but it came out to $18 just to have my sides done. Wish more places did that.

Nikki is absolutely phenomenal! We came all the way from Inland Empire and scheduled with her once more. She first styled and cut my fiances hair for our engagement shoot. We were blown away with her talent and patience. She listened to all of our requests and had an immense knowledge for all things hair. She was able to fix a prior bad haircut and give tips on a more personalized look. She really takes the time to explain styling tips and even gave great advice for upkeeping a good haircut.With four days away from our wedding date, we wouldnt trust anyone else other than Nikki to provide the best haircut. She is always timely and has the best personality to keep you in good spirits during your salon experience. She gave great advice to come back the day before for a clean up on the hairline and anything else that we may need cleaned up.Mens haircut is very reasonable here, only $26. I am definitely sure this is a hotspot I have not been in but I have looked through the window it seems to be wonderful friendly and clean. Me and my family had business next-door and we gathered around the Avenue barbershop to take some photos of our adventure we are in the neighborhood frequently and love the whole scenery and the people.

Great barbershop. The owner is friendly. Have a beer while you wait. Aim for getting a haircut not on Friday-Sunday if you want to avoid a long wait. They do take reservations so you can find a barber you like and try that.

You get a beer with a haircut. A pricey haircut. But all haircuts in the area are similarly priced.All the barbers are experts at styling and cutting hair though.

So upset. Ive never been this upset from a haircut. Literally told wendy not to touch the top and just clean up and short on the sides.... First cut she makes 4 off the top... I normally would give this place a 4 star it is a great place. But today I tried someone new and now I have to pay for it for at least 4-5 months. This sucks.... Whatever

This place is so SLOW....IVE tried to get a haircut here, my hair takes about 5 minutes to cut, both previous times Ive dropped in, the place has been empty except the customers in the chairs, but I was told it would be an hour+ wait because of apptsToday at 2pm, I dropped in for my 3rd and final time. Exact same scenario, 2 customers in seats, empty shop, and Im told it will be 2.5hrs before I can get a cut.I told the girl I just need a cleanup (I sport a buzz cut) 5 minutes max. She said 2.5hrs.Im trying to give them $20+tip for 5 minutes, but nope. 3rd time and Im done and telling everyone I know to go elsewhere.3 wasted trips. If you dont allow dropibs, say it outside on the door.

Go see Peggy, excellent hairdresser, been seeing her for years, she always does an amazing job. You can also bring your children, but check first.
