I gave them a try for a few months because I was told their 1G internet was great compared to what I had. I had issues with my laptop connecting and my other devices would take long to load certain apps compared to previous internet I had. I got the 1G for gaming but I could not play a match without having to restart the system and I would be the last to load into a match. I think the cables that are here on the property are just older. Switched to my old provider and everything is good now. They do have great customer service in my opinion. They sent a tech out to try and resolve the issues.

Have already contacted vast 3x about cancelling our subscription because we are moving out of the area, once over the phone, twice in person at their spearfish office, verified every time our subscription was cancelled yet vast keeps pulling payments from our bank account and hitting us with late fees. Would not recommend.

Horrible company. They have no Integrity. They are prejudice and hire little to no native Americans. Religious Discrimination is present. Chris Karn slammed a door in my face and walked out of our meeting when I pronounced my faith in Christ. Bill Enderby and Chris Karn are not fit for their positions within the company.( Vast runs on a very strict buddy system) I would recommend Midco to everyone and anyone. Choose a company who will do what’s right behind the scene, and is not prejudice nor practice religious discriminationTheir contractors are very well trained and highly knowledgeable individuals in which will make sure your services are installed the first time.The Maintnance department is stellar. Scott Parsons does an outstanding job and so does his Maintnance crew. They won’t pay what a technicians worth so that may be why many people will never get their internet, cable, telephones troubleshooted nor installed correctly. Switch to Midco and get the services installed the first time around… I know I did :)

I give vast one star for the fact then one of the representative told me I needed to have common sense to pay my bill when I told her my situation that I had a family member just passed away and told her I just needed a little time to pay it and that was only a couple days and then I would have paid it I just cant believe how disrespectful that lady was I say they need to work on your people skills and then when I asked her to talk to her manager or supervisor supervisor never called me back she just kept rambling on just trying to justify her point until this day I still havent got a call from the supervisor so I think she lied to me about that so I do not recommend Vast they are horrible at customer services

Started my service here about a week ago. Paid for the gig but was getting way less than that for the first few days. Called late in the day and got a LOCAL rep who was able to have a tech come out the very next morning. Jake came out and redid some wiring in my new place and was able to get my speed up to where it’s supposed to be. The fact that all of their phone reps are local and not outsourced is 5 star worthy alone. Their techs are very courteous as well.

Dont bother. Theyll shut your internet the day they send the bill out, then again two and a half weeks later, ect. Connection, either line or WiFi, both slow. Like. 2005 slow.Update; Fixed, wasnt a problem in my main line but somewhere else making the signal slow.

I had to switch from Midco to Vast when we moved. Vast charged me $245.00 to hook up 1 TV and the monthly bill is $250. Midco only charged $150/month. When we move into our new home in 6 months we will NOT choose Vast.

Shoutout to Cody as one of the best Tech Internet guys out there.Was indeed paying for the 400Mb plan. I noticed that my internet was only capping at 100Mb, and its been months since I upgraded. Called vast like a week ago to see if I can enjoy what I’m paying for. Cody came in today and took his time and troubleshooted what was wrong and he found it out. The apartment that I’m living right now has this outdated ethernet port setup on the walls. So if you’re having trouble with the speed and you’re paying the higher speed plan, it has gotta be either your Modem router is super outdated, or your port setup inside your house is outdated.Im basically getting what I’m paying for right now and sometimes, it is our job to find out if we’re getting what we are paying for instead of blaming the internet provider itself and giving them bad reviews.

The absolute worst ISP I have ever dealt with in over 25-years of working in information technology. They WILL NOT send a tech out for NOTHING, and their network is down easily 80% of the time. The excuse? They cant schedule a tech if there is an outage in the area. The only problem with that is, there is ALWAYS AN OUTAGE in the area 🤦‍♂️

We live in a complex and our downstairs neighbor uses vast. we have lived here for 3 years and two of those years their vast cable box as sat there dangling off the outside wall. They have called multiple times to come fix it and they keep refusing to because they keep thinking our midco box is their vast cable box. For these reasons alone I would Never use vast.

Very disappointed. We knew there was going to be buffering from 6pm to 9pm but that they were “working on it” and it shouldn’t last too long. Well we are going on three months and it’s not fixed. My bill for cable and internet is over $200/mo since we chose a larger package but EVERY evening we can’t even watch a movie all the way through with the connection constantly going out and we have to repeatedly hit “Try again” to get the movie started back up. Dish was expensive but better for watching TV than this experience. I’ve been trying to watch The Meg this evening and have to “ try again” about 7 times now. So disappointed.

Vast is terrible. I’m very disappointed with there services. I can’t play a single game on my PlayStation without getting kicked from a game. The buffering on movies is constant. I would not recommend this to anyone. I call and they tell me to restart the router and it never works it almost feels like it get worst every time I restart it.

Worst experience ever. Shady sales. Uninformed installer. Unbelievably rude customer service. I feel tricked and scammed. The salesman never told me that they would have to dig up my yard to bury their cable. The installer never checked to see if any of my devices would work on the network. They dont. I never could get even my cell phone to connect. So, Ive never been able to even use the service to see if its faster than MIDCO. When I told the rep cancelling my service that I expect to not have a bill, he beat around the bush and said its a new service so he doesnt know what the bill will be. Im angry and disappointed.

Got a bill for may 15th in march. Few days later internet was shut off. Called and asked about it and was told I was behind. No emails or letters or texts letting me know. Man i tried talking to was super argumentative and refused to explain anything and called me a liar about the bill even existing and said they had sent 2 other Bills that I never recieved. Also just received a message today that my bill is due by today. Still no promting or alerts.

Their service is so bad I can barely write this review as my work form home virtual desktop flickers in and out in the background. Tried to do a simple switch back to Midco turns out their techs will vandalize the midco box for you; no extra charge. They basically run a racket here. Im stuck with this internet for the next 4 days until their tech can come out and pull their wire while the midco box collects dust waiting to let me actually be productive at work so Ill spend the precious few packets I can get in and out to make sure the world knows this company deserves bankruptcy or a government nationalization. Communism would do far better to deliver you internet service. Stick with them any longer you will fail your classes or be fired from your job, go with midco, not worth saving the $10 or so dollars a month for the worst internet Ive ever experienced from any ISP.

My mother got the vast services with the hopes of faster Internet. But it turned out to be worst then it was. It limited her access to the internet. When she called to tell them in the frist 24 hours that she was canceling; they sent her a frist mouth bill dispite tellling her the frist mouth was free. Guy was very rude on the phone. Said it’ll take 2 weeks for them to dig the cable in the ground. Well it’s almost 2 weeks and now he’s saying it’s going to take another 2 weeks?!!! If it’s not taking care of within a couple days I will find someone else to provide internet. And was told this service would be like night and day compared to our other internet provider. Well VAST is about the same. Slow and seems to have a lot of internet outages. I think they should give everyone a discount every time the internet goes out! As a working mom from home everything is late when this happens! Also the internet wire is just laying on the ground! Wish they could of put it on the fence!

These installers came to our house when i wasnt home. they tricked my wife into letting them install equipment we didnt need. she showed them where we wanted our router and they hooked up a new router right next to the motorola surfboard that we own. we had no idea we were being charged for use of equipment we didnt need. tried to explain this to customer service and they refused to do anything about it. not sure what im gonna do yet... but we are not happy.

I had spotty service for years, even with their 400mb/s service. I finally upgraded to 1gb/s service and surprisingly still had lag in my games.I called and requested a service technician come check out my connection and they set me up with an appointment that week.The technician came out and ran all kinds of tests, and found that I had a bunch of old wire that needed updated, and that my connection was timing out over 200k times a day! He replaced the wire, cleaned up my junction box (that midco made a mess of), and then retested my system, not a single disconnect since and my gaming has been fantastic.I wish every company in rapid city had technicians as dedicated and knowledgeable as this one. Sadly, I cant recall his name, but it Ill just call him amazing. 10/10.

Internet is out more often than not. Their “VIP” phone number and email go unanswered. When the internet is actually functioning it’s so slow I can’t load anything even though I have one of the best packages and pay a large sum for it. Not worth the money or the headache. Completely unreliable.

Vast internet is really bad, im paying for their best plan and dont even get as much as theyre smallest plan.. i dont get it youd at least expect them to try and help us fix it but the last few times i called they said everything was alright and just left it at that... waste of money and time coming to these guys.. youd have a better internet connection using a wireless phone hotspot!

The salesman came to my husband and Is door talking up a storm about the great services we would be provided if we switched internet services. He told us the 1g plan would be out of this world when it came to download speeds. We had their internet installed all but one hour and the highest speed we reached was 15 mbps. It slowed down even more when more than one device was running. We called and said we werent satisfied and that we would like the technician to come Uninstall the equipment, we were no longer going to proceed with their service. Four days after the canceled services, I was billed for installment fees and a months worth of services. I called customer support and asked why I was billed when I was told the 30 day money back guarantee would be honored. The customer support personnel put me on hold for about 10 minutes and said that the technician somehow forgot to put in the cancelation. The reviews speak for themselves when they say the service isnt what they build it up to be and it really is all about taking your money.

The customer service rep processed a double payment and refused to make it right. The internet is spotty and is always going down, I have the most expensive package they offer and they refuse to make it right when their company does not perform or fulfill its promises to its customers. Avoid this fraudulent company.Update... still refuses to fix the error. Now they only have one care representative available. Somehow there is no manager available. This representative has no interest in actually fixing a issue they have caused. They are quick to blame the customer. I have been charged for internet they are not providing. You would think their managers/company reps would be more interested in customer satisfaction but no they don’t care about the customer.

I dont know who they have for collections or if the agent that called me was having a bad day or took something I said wrong, when I was nice the whole time, but dont you just love when you tell them you cant pay a bill on a certain day, then all of sudden their nice demeanor changes to attitude and talking down to you as if you owed that agent money personally. I actually didn’t mind this company while I had them, the internet connection was fine while I had it (though they do repeatedly have internet connection issues that they seem to be fixing somewhere in the area that causes the internet to be down quite frequently). So if you work from home or something, definitely keep that in mind.However, I recently was charged for internet services after leaving this company and they refused to make it right for over a week and I was told repeatedly that they would have to “send it up to management to see if they would be able to issue me a refund” even though they had a) charged me for services I didn’t have after I had cancelled them a month prior and b) failed to remove my autopay after I was told multiple times my information was no longer in their system. I was also told by a customer service agent that I would not be given a refund, even though it was “obviously not my fault” because I was no longer an authorized user on the account and I would have to “work out getting paid back by the new owner of the account. It’s been over a week, over 6 phone calls (on my end) and still no refund.I hate to say it, but the amount of 1 star reviews seem to speak for themselves (not to mention the copy and pasted response on each and every one of those 1 star reviews). Take your business elsewhere folks!

Internet cuts out at random times of the day and your lucky that it isnt for hours on end qll the while your service fluctuates. This is the worst internet provider I have ever seen. I have to tell you, I have lived in Missouri, Ohio and South Dakota and in all places I have had internet service in my place. Non of them can be compared to this one! It is slow, disconnect frequently, has fluctuation in speed. Nothing is good about it. The worst part is when you call them and ask for help with speed! The answer is always the same! you must use our own modem-router!!! I am using Netgear modem/router and I have never had any problem with it, but no!!! with Vast, it is the modem! The problem is that in Rapid city there are few internet providers and there is no competitor, so they do whatever they like to do. Change the speed, be unreasonable, etc.... I wish there was somewhere else I could get internet.

I have had a reoccurring issue with my service. My service goes out from 12:30 PM to 3:30 pm every day. Have had a similar problem a couple of times before (although at different times of the day) over the past year. It gets fixed once a technician and service is good again for a few months. Since it gets fixed eventually I have given Vast the benefit of the doubt and kept their service. Based upon my interaction with a customer care associate today it is apparent that I need to find another provider. Its not worth the time Ive invested into the solution nor the extra money I spent replacing all the equipment in my house (cable modem and wireless router.) If you were wondering, my old equipment is being used by a friend of mine and has worked perfectly for them. Imagine that!

Ive had Vast since they switched over from being WOW and all I can say is they are constantly terrible. They go down all the time and when you call about it their techs just try to put it on you and your equipment (assuming you dont know any better) when its obviously them having problems. You wont get what you pay for but theres few options for people around here unfortunately. Its a shame really we have to just sit here are take it. All I can say is make sure your voice is heard if youre having bad service.

THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I’VE EVER RECEIVED.Upon getting services set up, the tech showed up early to the agreed time, and then gave attitude when I told him I wasn’t there yet. He let me know that he had “other jobs to do and didn’t have time to wait on me”. So I wasn’t able to get internet installed for a week. Then, got charged multiple late fees and a bunch of other issues with account. I always pay my bills 2 weeks ahead, just because of pay schedule, so I knew this wasn’t correct. Called about these fees to ask for specific dates that the check posted, and the customer service was absolutely horrendous. Being someone with multiple years in customer service, it was disheartening. Have already called to have services disconnected and will be doing business with Midco as of tomorrow!

I was having ongoing issues with the internet service. Not only fluctuations in internet connection but sometimes lack of any accessat all for hours. If you are looking for any sort of technical support theres a possibility you may receive a phone call back during theyre short workday or you might not.. after hours support consists of an answering service that again may or may not pass along a message.. good luck to you in trial patients if you select this company to provide you with service.

My family has been a loyal customer for quite a few years. Today I chatted on line with a customer service rep and highlighted my concerns about dated equipment and the fact that only new customers get good deals. I asked where are our your loyal customer discounts and appreciations at? Ashley connected me with Scott Chandler in sales and Scott was able to get me updated equipment with very good pricing. I thought I was going to have to switch to another cable provider to get decent pricing but was given very good service and a good deal. To those in upper management I pose the following why arent these types of things promoted better, wouldnt it be better to keep a customer a long time vs. having everyone play the switching game? Also why does it have to be so hard to get this for your customers? You(management) should empower both your customer service people and your customers by making them more able to get this type of service and/or products without feeling like we are imposing on anyone Loyal customers should be at least as big of priority as a new customer, and if you get a New customer you then have an opportunity to create a loyal customer. Just seems like you all are missing an chance.

The crudiest internet out there. Could not watch one Netflix show with out loading every 5 min. Connected strait to the Ethernet cable. The customer service from the installer was incredible but anything from trying to fix the slowness of the internet is awful. Upgraded from 400 to 1 Gig because they suggested it and it runs just as slow.

Service was great at the beginning, but now its unbearable! Internet connection is shotty at best; and when I call to let them know and see what can be done about it, they say that everything is working fine on their end. When I ask about a technician coming out to assist me, Im told that theres a service charge for it and that if I like, I can add an insurance charge to my current bill that would pay for a technician coming out....yeah, no thank you. Beware when looking into getting their service! Shop around for other companies and be sure to read reviews.

My service was great till all this 5G race between Trump n China. Why did I get switched from Vast to Hitron??? And there were two guest wifi and an extra wifi name added on my account. My regular wifi account hardly works or messes up now after I was moved to Hitron, how did I get switched in the first place? I didnt request a move of companies, and if Hitron is my provider why am I paying Vast? How can I get this straightened out to get the good vast network service I once had?

I am shocked their rating is this high. Service is decent, but overpriced. New customers get such a better deal then existing customers, being a loyal customer gets you $5 off a month for a year if you are willing to raise as much hell as necessary. Of course, they always find another way to keep your bill the exact same amount as it was before...even with this loyalty discount. Amazing how that works. Sad thing is, Midco isnt any better.

Wow. actually the worst thing in the house. i swear if the wifi isn’t going out for a straight week every month then it’s just slow. every time the wifi goes out for a long period of time they come over and have us buy more stuff. we currently have three DIFFERENT networks, none of which work. we have bought a boosting addition to the modem which hasn’t done anything helpful since the day we bought it. never seen people so money hungry.

READ IF YOU NO LONGER HAVE VAST! We left vast last year, we owed $154 on our final bill, using two accounts my wife and I both paid the final bill. We didn’t even realize this for a 6-7 months. Instead of refunding our overpayment VAST decided to keep it and write it off. We both had to contact vast in order for them to refund our money which took over a month since they had no overage record on our account. Makes me wonder how many people they have done this to and just kept that money. 6 weeks later and my cable is still running above ground. They will not give date it will be buried by as it is through a contracting agency. Here we go again! Its been a year since the last rate increase. I called to ask why & all they offered was a faster internet at a reduced rate for a year that will be way more expensive at the end of that year! No bonus for being loyal customers.5/8/18-Since my last post, Vat worked with me to lower my rate some but only for a year. Im glad they did at least offer that much. I also found out for the customers who purchase the larger bundles, they do have a retention offer for loyal customers. That doesnt help those trying to unplug!5/6/19-Here we are a year later and the rates went up again. Just like clock work. Tonight was my first call to retention services. Vast use to have 24 hour tech support. Had an issue tonight where our internet went out, but nobody was available to assist. Just a call answering service that would only send a message for them in the morning. Horrible.

Horrible service, expensive, and cannot fix any of their problems. We have had cable for a year and on most channels there is an aggravating choppy scrambled picture along with the sound cutting off or not staying in sync with the picture. We’ve exchanged boxes, had connections looked at, and had service people come over to apathetically accomplish nothing. Getting in touch with representatives to schedule an appointment is painful and best. Then they want you to wait over a week for someone to come by. $170 a month for cable and internet. We are done. I hate this cable company. I thought Charter was bad but Vast sure lowered that bar. Do not consider them. I hope they are done and bankrupt soon.

Justin Behrens, one of your service techs, went above and beyond what I expected. He thoroughly installed our router and modem and answered all of my questions. You can teach most people to do a job, but you cant teach the attribute of servitude that Justin has. His attitude and personality is what makes him stand out among the rest!

Vast sucks! For what we pay the service should definitely be alot better. The internet works on and off most days and is VERY slow. When we have called they almost always say everything is working fine or our call is just disconnected. Weve had multiple occasions they have come to fix the issues but nothing really gets done.

Techs who set it up didnt seem to know what they were doing - had to come out twice for the phone because they didnt get it right even though it had all been set up with no problems from a previous provider. Service goes out a lot, and techs not reachable by phone. Phone quality so poor that i often have to switch to my cell phone to have a conversation (and ive bought new phones twice to rule that out). Internet poky and intermittant. I cant wait to switch to another provider.

Vast sucks!!!! Do Not get Vast! I repeat DO NOT GET VAST!!! We have only internet and its terrible! We had it set up and it worked great for 1 day then we started having issues. We emailed them and they sent a service tech over. When they came out and fixed our issue we had one day of great service after that... then it went out again! We sent emails to have it fixed and we still havent gotten any response or replies. We havent even had our service through Vast for a month! This is absolutely ridiculous!

I only have Vast in order to keep my e-mail address. I switched my business to another company and put Vast internet in my home. It doesnt work well. Now I cant send or receive emails for my personal or business. They were supposed to call me back yesterday to resolve but didnt after I was on the phone with two different people for 1/2 hour. Im on hold now again to get it resolved.

I have seen a lot of these reviews and it kind of makes me wonder if they are ever caught up on their bills? and which service they bought. Obviously the service you buy gives you those results. I was able to sign up for a 29.99 deal at the time and have never had a problem. I even moved to a new apartment and asked if i could just take the same price with me to the new place and never had a problem with it. Vast tech guys have always come when they say they were going to come and whenever I was having a problem they have a line that you can you or a chat on their website that i usually use. Never had an issue.

Had a horrible encounter with the front desk person after losing cable for a whole night.Then 5 days later, 9 minutes before the Superbowl, the cable, internet and phone go out again. After-hours calls both days offered no solutions except to unplug router and restart.
