The drivers and the system doesnt know how to follow simple delivery instructions....I redirected my packages to be delivered to my front door and NO ONE knocked or came to the door. Amazon and USPS tracking said they attempted the delivery, lies no they did not. Amazon said attempted at 9:30am and the site site same 8:30am, which is the time the post office opens on Saturdays??? It was after 9am when I received these and Ive been up before 8am. Now I have to pick my stuff....Theres always something with this service...the delivery driver on July 3, 2021 from the time delivering mail starts to and the supposed 8:30am delivery, NEEDS TO BE TALKED TO...All I wanted was my packages to be left at my door so I wouldnt have to walk all the way to the locker. That delivery was SIMPLE but no...

I sent a Priority letter to a business in Rapid City. Without regard to the fact it has a business name printed on the front, this carrier marked it as attempted at 8:08 pm. What kind of monkey show do these people run there? Trying to deliver to a business with hours of operation of 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. These carriers deliver there daily and this is the best they got. Get it together people. I paid you almost $30 to deliver this for me. Service sucks.

I feel like, 80% of the time, I would rather be using a different postal service. Usps really takes zero effort to go the extra mile. And Im not trying to single out this specific usps location, its just the way the entire organization functions. I literally get exceptional junk mail and bill delivery, but, everything else is usually a hassle. Idk what the problem is, if it is funding or a union, but every dam time I have something besides a letter to get delivered its a spheal. Gets old FAST

Ordered a couple things while in Rapid City for work. I was anxious since they’re a number of things that can go wrong when shipping to a hotel, but both the carrier and hotel got the job done! I didn’t see the carrier myself, but appreciate the extra care of them walking the packages to the front desk instead of using the mailbox outside.

Packages are repeatedly not being delivered. USPS website says packages are out for delivery yet they arent being delivered. Repeatedly marked as Delivery Attempted- No Access To Delivery Location yet I can watch them deliver other mail to my mailbox. When delivered packages are left outside or worse yet they are left by the mailbox next to the road for anyone to steal. UPS & FedEx can place packages inside the entrance door but USPS cant get out of their vehicles to properly deliver packages. Why pay for express delivery if my packages can make it across the country within two days, but cant make it across town! WHAT A JOKE! Get it together or get out of the mail delivery business! WASTE OF TAXPAYERS MONEY!!!

My package was in town all weekend and yet somehow on the day they’re supposed to deliver it they didn’t saying that there was no access to the delivery point, despite that both the front and side entrance of my house were clear AND I was home!!!! Laziest postal service ever! And can’t even call to make sure my package will be delivered because they make it impossible to talk to a representative! Get a grip USPS.

Friendly and helpful staff, despite being constantly busy. It seems like there is always a line, but I don’t think that’s related to the competency of the workers. Perhaps Rapid City could use more post offices. Delivery personnel are also friendly and always take my outgoing packages, sparing me many trips to the post office.

Lines are often long, but thats to be expected with a government service that everyone in town uses. Almost every postal employee Ive encountered here over my 20+ years of living in town has been kind and helpful, Craig being the best example of them. Everything is well-stocked and clean. Could use more available pens though!

There should be an option for 0 stars, because this Post Office doesnt even deserve one star. Customer Service employees are rude and unhelpful. As soon as you say you dont have a tracking number they are triggered and immediately say they cannot help you. Funny thing was, I was the one who made the mistake and put a FedEx mail item in my mailbox and USPS picked it up and then it disappeared. All I wanted to know was where they would forward a package from FedEx, would they send it back to me or forward it on to FedEx? THATS IT! They wouldnt even answer that and apparently thought I was asking them to magically find my package for me. When I asked for a supervisor or a direct phone number, I was told there was no one to talk to and no number they could give me.I would also like to add that this was after THREE entire hours of attempting to call their office where an automated message told me that my call couldnt be transferred and then was hung up on. I was unable to get a real person on the line via the 800 number either and also put in an e-mail complaint that was acknowledged by repeating that they cannot track without a tracking number. Idiots. Once I finally drove across town, I had to go to customer service which is also the passport office and wait longer as there was only one person working. Everyone else was apparently in training and couldnt be bothered.FINALLY, after using the call prompt to order stamps, I got a real person on the phone via the 800 number who informed me that they encounter UPS and FedEx packages everyday that are mistakenly sent USPS and that they forward those packages onto the appropriate carrier. That is literally all I needed to know, but the Rapid City inept postal workers couldnt tell me that, couldnt answer a phone call, and couldnt articulate what I meant apparently. Follow up attempts made by the postmaster were not answered because A. It is annoying when you are trying to contact someone, isnt it? B. They still think I am trying to get them to find a package with no tracking number. C. They still wont answer the phone!

The tale of two packages: I ordered 2 things from the same website. One on a Friday, and one on the following Monday. The first was originally shipped UPS but then handed off to USPS for local delivery, while the other one went UPS the entire way. The UPS package that was ordered on Monday took 3 days. I received it on Thursday. The package that was handed off to USPS, which was ordered Friday is still not here, 8 days later. According to UPS tracking, it was handed off to USPS on Tuesday. I went in to the USPS store to see what was going on (because there is no way to call them.) Customer service says they had not received the package from UPS, which means someone is lying. Do I believe the automated message from UPS that can only be triggered if it was dropped off at USPS or a customer service agent staring at the screen that probably says theyve been holding my package for 4 days?UPDATE.. The packaged was delivered by the time I got home, meaning that USPS cant track their own packages. No wonder theyre dying.

The first time I came here. The people were nice to me and helped me out tremendously. The second time I had to get a key for my mailbox, and the lady was rude and kept telling me I needed both me and my boyfriends signature on my copy of my lease... And was super rude about it. I kept saying the lady who helped me previously didnt care about that stuff. Anyhow. I left, used my gas to get a signature. And come back and no one even asked for my lease. 😡 I just left.

Well, they are cheaper than UPS/FedEx, but theres a darn good reason. Ive had a mix of interactions ranging from pleasant and helpful to desultory and downright rude. It is a government job, so they know they wont get fired for poor customer service. What has irritated me the most, and prompts this review, is the supposed overnight delivery that they charge $25.50 for providing. The catch is that it is not, and apparently will not be overnight unless it is a delivery within the local zip code and doesnt have to leave the local sort facility. I paid for an overnight delivery on Friday morning when the office opened, shipping to WV on the outskirts of Washington DC, but the scheduled delivery is for Monday; you read that right, shipping from a regional sort facility to a central hub, both located in the lower 48, is scheduled to take 4 days, but I got charged for overnight shipping. I could buy into that if I were shipping from Bohunk, AK to Maui, HI because of the dogsleds involved, but we are marginally modern here in South Dakota, so I really dont understand the ability to charge a dollar amount for a service that obviously cannot be provided as promised. Lesson learned for me: dont fall victim to delivery gimmicks, just pay $7.50 for the 1-3 business day delivery, because that is the best that this local post office can provide anyway. Theres nothing much more to say about this organization; it is a lower cost provider than the publicly traded shipping companies, with comparable customer service levels. It is a government institution though, and as such the employees do not face significant repercussions for poor performance, so you are going to get whatever level of service they decide they are willing to provide, at whatever price they decide to charge.

The person I dealt with today was rude from the start. If you dont like your job, get a new one.Can you not hire people who are professional and courteous? The person delivering my mail today (1-4-2021) was as rude as the person that I encountered a year ago at the post office behind the counter. No wonder reviews for the postal service here are mainly bad.
