We own two Rottweilers who have always had excellent care from Alta Rancho, the staff is very caring. Our male Rottweiler is VERY difficult and the staff goes out of their way to make sure he gets the care he needs and I assure you this is no easy task. Thank you Dr. Henderson !!

My dog was bit by a stray early Saturday morning and no vet I called was willing to take my dog in except this location. I knew it was going to be hard to find a vet with an open slot especially during Labor Day weekend but this vet not only made space but even performed surgery on my dog. I am extremely grateful and my dog has been recuperating amazingly. They have been checking up in him constantly and it really shows they care about their patients. Highly recommend.

I had 2 canaries. One was named Yellow. The bird doctor at Alta Rancho said that his leg was broken. He also said the aluminum will continue to make his leg bleed. Canaries are so small that blood loss is serious. I guess he could not saw the aluminum off and fix the leg. He also said that he could refer us to other doctors but theyre gonna say the same thing. I ended up cremating my bird Yellow.Then my other bird Hello did the same exact thing. I went to the Irvine bird doctor Larry and he said he could save all birds and the aluminum breaking their legs is very common. he has 7 canaries he saved and are at his home. He sawed off the aluminum in no time and saved Hello.

A great pet hospital with Loving Staff and Doctors! So glad to find Dr. Shuffer and Dr. Henderson, both have restored health to our furry and feathered family members. We have taken our English Bulldogs to Alta Rancho Pet and Bird Hospital for over 15 years. Everyone who works here is professional, knowledgeable and caring. Bulldogs inherently are plagued with many health problems and having a vet who understands the breed is essential. We are so grateful for the outstanding care our bullies have always received from Dr Henderson and her team.

Called to get my bunny help and I was told they were not accepting new bunny patients. Because they are booked for the week 🤔. I was unable to book a future appointment thus not getting help for my pet. Its not easy to find a vet who even has the capabiliy to handle a bunny let alone be turned away by one who does. Lets all just turn away our fur babies who need help because theres a lack of compassion. Why was it not acceptable to make a future appointment? So my bunny is just sol? This is the second vet to say this to me. Never in my life have I had this issue. Vets are not here to help animals they are here for your money, greedy!

I had such a wonderful experience here. My senior dog started having some troublesome symptoms and my normal vet couldnt get her in until 5 days later. They told me to go to the ER instead. I went to the ER to the tune of a $5-$6k bill that I couldnt pay, so we went here instead. They were caring, professional, thorough and gave me various options at different prices points to work within my budget. Dr. Henderson answered all of my questions and didnt rush me at all. We will definitely be bringing our pets back here from now on.

We love our vet!! We have 4 little girls that have been treated professional and loved by them all. We have 2 large birds that have been seeing by them also. They saved my Amazon parrots life!! I trust them with our pets!!

I have taken my dog to three vets in the last year trying to find the perfect one for her and I. Her last three visits I have found myself coming here and again and again. I get quality care from doctors who truly care about the animal they are treating and arent necessarily in it for the money. I dont get upsold speeches but instead some quality advice and suggestions. I appreciate the doctors and staff and look forward to continuing to work with them.

Dr. Henderson and the Alta Rancho Pet and Bird Hospital team have literally saved my dogs life twin. I have been with them for over 15 years. They also have one of the only Avian Vets in Southern CA.

During COVID 19, I needed to get my fur baby to the vet. They offered curbside service to take my dog inside the facilities. Then the phone conversations obtained essential information from me. Then detailed outcome and instructions from the doctor were provided through another phone conversation. The team was incredibly professional and compassionate. The follow-up to see how my dog was doing was extra TLC I really appreciated. I am very thankful for their care with my fur baby.

We had to take our bubba boy in and the staff was so kind, caring and professional. The Dr. Took the time to talk with us in detail. Unfortunately we had to put our boy to sleep but if we ever get another we will be calling them.

I would never take my fur baby anywhere else! I honestly have had a better experience and more trust here with the doctors and staff, than with my own doctors office! They are kind, caring, on top of their game, knowledgeable, and proactive. My little guy has been coming here since he was first adopted (only a few weeks old) and I completely attribute his wonderful health at 14 years old to this establishment. Took our Love bird there for a simple nail and break trim. 6 hours later we get a call from the doctor saying something terrible happened. Our bird died. Maybe not waiting 6 hours to do something would have not put her through so much trauma. Thank you for the refund but I hope this teaches you to do things in a timely manner. PLEASE DONT LEAVE A BIRD HERE UNATTENDED.

I had a great experience and so did my pet. I took in my cockatiel Lenny and they treated him with the upmost respect. He came home and was a happy camper and healed fast from his treatment. The staff is very friendly. Definitely coming back for all my pets needs.

The front office staff were very nice, but thats the only good thing I can say about my experience here. If you have a bird, forget about getting decent care here, but its hard because there arent many avian vets. I contacted them for an appointment as soon as I saw my bird was ill. I had to wait almost 4 business days (6 days total because of the weekend) to be seen because their avian vet apparently does not work Mondays. My bird made it to his appointment, frankly because of my intensive care at home. But when I got there, I had to wait in the cold reception area for 1/2 hour after my scheduled appointment time before we were called to a room. But, luckily I know from many years of experience that sick birds need to be kept very warm, so I had a warming pad in the carrier for my bird and and kept it close to me to minimize the draft from the door opening and closing every few minutes. They make you watch an avian care video prior to your arrival, and the vet tech that takes you to the room immediately gives you an avian care packet and starts talking to you about a pellet diet. The vet came in shortly thereafter and he was very cold and unfriendly. He did not ask me any questions whatsoever, but rather he immediately started lecturing me about needing to put the bird on a pellet diet. Look, I am no stranger to birds. I have had budgies and parrots all my life and they lived long lives. My bird is on a very healthy diet and eats fresh veggies, grains, beans, egg whites with the shell, etc in addition to a high quality seed mix. Despite me telling him about my extensive experience with birds, and telling him about my birds diet, and how Ive been caring for him, the vet continued his preaching basically implying that the reason my bird was sick was because we werent purchasing the pellet diet sold at his clinic. So I became annoyed and told him that I dont need a lecture about the birds diet, that I have extensive experience with budgies, and his diet is not the reason hes sick because he became ill very suddenly and he was thriving beforehand. He has the audacity to say, No need to be upset! Then he switches gears and tells me about people leaving their birds in the cold and thats why they get an influx of sick birds at their clinic this time of year, all while he had my bird just sitting in a clear plastic box in the ice cold exam room. So I took it upon myself to put my bird back in his warm carrier and attempted to make the guy understand that this cannot be the reason my bird is sick because, again, I know not to do that and my bird has never been exposed to the cold.I had to forcefully stress to this guy that its not the birds diet and being left in the cold, so he would open his mind to the possibility of something else, to which the vet simply said, It could be anything. Geeze. Then I had to ask if there was any tests we could run. He didnt even offer up any options we could possibly try. He didnt want to do blood tests, to which I agree, the bird was too weak. But then I had to ask if we could do tests on the birds excrement to attempt to determine what was wrong, but frankly, he wasnt interested. Basically, I got the feeling that he is already assuming my birds a goner, and doesnt care to do anything for him.So if you want an unfriendly vet thats not going to listen to you or even really examine or care about your bird, that will just make up his mind before you even walked in the door that your bird is sick because you arent feeding them the pellet diet sold by his clinic, or that you must have neglected and left your bird out in the cold, and wont even talk to you about testing or treatment options, then this guy is for you.At least my bird did come out of there with a better chance of surviving because they gave him a vitamin shot and antibiotics, and he did at least tell me to try baby bird feeding formula to help him get some nutrition. Worth it, but I will be looking hard for another vet.

Took our puppy in for his first check up and everyone was wonderful and courteous. All our questions and concerns were answered nicely. Already we love this place.

I would never take my dogs anywhere else. Cathy and Reid and their whole team are caring and knowledgeable. We know that they truly care about our dogs.

Do not come here, there are many better options locally. The charges for services are astronomical and the doctor will try to sell you on packages bundling unneeded services and if you try to get only what you need her demeanor changes. Shes about the money which makes sense cause it probably costs a lot to run her service.

Staff is very friendly, doctors are very knowledgeable. We recently had to euthanize our dog of almost fourteen years and everyone was so kind and patient during the process while we grieved. They provided excellent care for her up to this point and we trusted them enough to board her with them. If we ever get another dog, we will definitely be using Alta Rancho.

I have a 13 year old male cat named Corky that developed a very large tumor in his intestines. Other vet clinics told me to make him comfortable until he passes away. Doctor Shufer skillfully operated and saved his life!! Corky is a new kitty!! Don’t hesitate to visit with your pet as they are the best!!

Dr. Henderson has been my cat, Simba’s doctor for over 11 years. She saved his life 2 times, and the last visit would be 3rd one! She is very knowledgeable and passionate about her profession. Everyone there is very friendly, yet very professional. I moved to LA about a year ago, but can’t find any vet great as them, so I’m still going there :D

They screwed up my dogs surgery twice and still made us pay both times for their mistakes . Staff is worst I have ever seen or been around . And way overpriced worst bet I have ever been to .

Never had such a friendly experience for my dogs or my family than at Alta Rancho Pet. Its like family, my dogs dont mind going there which is pretty good if you know what I mean. They are family to me and I worry about them and how they feel.

I have been bringing my beloved pets to Alta Rancho Pet & Bird Hospital for over 21 years now. I love the friendly, caring & professional staff, especially their experienced Vet Tech, Candice, who goes above & beyond to make sure not just my pets, but all animals seen there get the best care possible. I’ve entrusted my dogs to the care of Dr. Kathy Henderson & Dr. Shufer and truly value the great services they offer. I sincerely appreciated the kindness & sensitivity they showed when I had to put one of my dogs down last year and another dog several years before that. I even received a very touching sympathy card from them in the mail. The little things like that go a long way to show they truly care! My last remaining senior dog is almost 13 years old and there is no other place I’ll take care her to because they’re like family to me.

The vets here are kind and efficient, and the nurses and staff are extremely nice and welcoming. They have very clean facilities and always take very good care of our dog, even when we take her in for routine checkups and teeth cleanings. I would highly recommend this hospital!

Ive been taking my dog her for over 3 years. They are very knowledgeable and quick. I am always very comfortable with their advice. Recently got an appointment same day at 8 am, they let me leave her to be checked, she needed to have a tumor removed on her foot and they did it the same day. Really efficient and knowledgeable doctors!

My bird was sick from too many injections and the medication immediately. They are also over priced compared to the LLAH.

They are conveniently located and feel they provide average service. Two things that I did not appreciate are the fact that they shared my email with some other companies (I’ve been unsubscribing from several lists for over a year now). The other thing that I did not like it the fact that they share their client list with the City of Rancho Cucamonga. This is done so that the city can make sure everyone licenses their dogs. I agree that everyone should License their dog but I do not agree with the vet doing this without telling their clients. I think it would be better if they just disclose the fact that they are going to share your name with the city when you go there.

My sister recommended Alta Rancho and even though I live 45 miles away I decided to take my dog there. I liked their straight forwardness and how they treated me and my dog. Definitely going back when the need arises!

Other than making the visit free (haha) I couldn’t have asked for a better appointment. Sara made the appointment for Lexi to see Dr Henderson and Fred Too to see the tech at the same time so we didn’t have to make two trips. Very thoughtful. Thank you

I have been coming here with my now 7 year old dog since I first brought him home from the ASPCA at 8 weeks old and immediately realized something was very wrong. It turned out that he had Parvovirus. They saved his life and have been continuing to provide quality care ever since. The vaccine clinics are very convenient for annual shots. Making an appointment is quick and easy and I have always felt that the level of care is excellent.

Ive been taking my pets to Alta Rancho for more than 10 yrs and will continue to do so. Dr. Shufer is the best surgeon and has a wonderful bedside manner with all creatures. His staff is always professional and kind. Love these people!!

When I first moved to California I was worried about finding a vet that would love my dogs as much as I do. I tried one in Fontana and they were awful. When I finally found Alta Rancho Pet & Bird Hospital I knew we were set. Dr. Henderson is wonderful with our boys and the entire staff knows them by name and lights up when they come in. Ive boarded them there several times and feel comfortable knowing they are safe. Both of my dogs have bad allergies and Dr. Henderson was patient and thorough in finding the best course of treatment for each of them and also helped us to help our newest little one lose a lot of weight when he was having some arthritis issues. We love this place and will always entrust them with our kids.

We have had so many pets cared for at this care facility over the years! The doctors and staff here are simply the best! Our pets are our family and those who assist at Alta Rancho Animal Hospital instinctively know that and treat our animals with tender loving care. The doctors stay abreast of new technology and medications and incorporate them into their practice to better serve their furry clinets. We would never think of changing to another clinic.

Took in my african grey parrot for his first check up and the staff made sure to keep him calm. The staff here are really friendly and are looking out for the safety of the pets that come in. I was very pleased in taking my bird and will continue to do so.

We took our injured rabbit who had been attacked by a dog. The second we got there we waited. No one in the office seemed to be bothered by what essentially was an emergency. Once we got help they placed us in an office where they had soda cups piled on the corner of the desk. When we spoke to the doctor she had her leg causally resting on the patient table like some casual skater kid. The only actual compassionate person was the male nurse who was very gentle with our dying rabbit. To put all the icing on this cake the tools used in our rabbit were not sterilized and after use the doctor wiped it with a napkin then placed it back into its place. UNSANITARY INCOMPATIONATE UNRELIABLE I wish I would have known all of this before coming here. My animal died in a bad place

I have been coming here for years, always a good visit. Brought my dog for her appointment at 5:20pm and I there was traffic and I got there at 5:31pm and because it was one min over when emergency times starts and this new girl said did you bring your dog? And I just thought to my self well yea why would I come without her. Then she tells me to sign in and said unfortunately its after 5:30pm so we will have to charge you emergency fee.That would have been nice to know, I wouldnt have wasted my gas driving more than 20 mins away in traffic to have to just drive back.I am not liking this place anymore with the new people who work there.

He was very patient in explaining to me the test and my dogs results. I will continue to take my pets to him even though we live over an hour away.

They have two dedicated, competent caring vets who really care for your pet. The staff is also knowledgeable and helpful. They have successfully treated our dogs for allergies, heart conditions, blocked colon (surgery) and old age complications. We have been taking our dogs to them for 14 years and wouldnt consider going anywhere else.

Drs. Shufer and Henderson are the best veterinarians we have found. We only take our pets (2 dogs and a cat) to other doctors when we arent able to make the trip to see them. They are extremely talented and knowledgeable vets; have a friendly and skilled team; and genuinely care about our animals. We highly recommend Alta Rancho!

Brought our Bird in in very bad shape, was given a price but not told anything in depth. We were rushed in and rushed out in hopes that our little love was being cared for. We left him there for a few hours but told when we picked him the vet was cold and matter of fact that he had 50% chance to live. He should have talked to us then that it was going to be a miserable death for our little one. He died a horrible death gasping for air. We had agreed to let them send out a culture but didnt hear from them for a follow up or for results. I called twice and finally got a call back a week after he died with the results. This place is there for making money not relationships with owner and pets. The receptionist is really nice but after that its down hill. You dont have to take my advice, see for yourself but remember its up to you how your pet gets treated.

My pets are trouble makers. Ive had to bring them in for coyote attacks, to have socks surgically removed, allergies, and routine stuff. I love Alta Rancho. They are really knowledgeable. Prices are great. Wouldnt go anywhere else.

My dog Benny, a boxer, blew out his knee at the dog park and could barely walk. We were concerned we were going to have to put him down but Dr. Shufer assured us that through surgery and rehab he could make a full recover. We were skeptical as his injury was severe but decided to move forward. We love our dog and would do anything for him. I am happy report that Dr. Shufer could not have done a better job! Benny runs, jumps and plays as if nothing ever happened. He is a talented surgeon and a caring and compassionate doctor. I highly recommend Alta Rancho Pet Hospital for any and all of your pets needs.

Both my dogs were rescue pets. My Siberian Husky was initially very unsocialized and in neglected condition: full of fleas and very scared. Dr. Henderson recognized that she needed to be sedated in order to deal with the fleas and give her injections. I was able to take her home the same day. Two weeks later she needed a hysterectomy because she had come into heat. A few months later, she tore her anterior cruciate ligament and needed surgery. After an in-depth description of the injury and what was required to fix it, Dr. Shufer performed the surgery. She came through the surgery with flying colors. I cannot say enough about the excellent care and professionalism of the veterinarians and staff at Alta Rancho Pet and Bird Hospital. i would recommend them to anyone with a pet.

Tl;dr best vet! I dropped into Alta Rancho while on vacation from NYC. I brought two dogs with me, a fresh pup and older guy. The vet assistants were knowledgeable, helpful, and quick to assist us. When we saw Dr. Shufer, I was given a wealth of knowledge about my new dog and tips for training him, feeding him, etc., all based on his breed and tailored to the pups personality. Dr. Shufer had also recommended a stool sample for the new pup -- even though he seemed fined to me -- and within 24 hours of dropping the sample, Dr. Shufer notified me that the pup had giardia. I was able to get him meds and fixed up quickly. Very happy with this visit. Ill be scheduling my annual check-ups with Alta Rancho Pet & Bird whenever Im in town!

Ive been taking my Scottie, Merve to Alta Rancho Pet & Bird Hospital for over 10 years. Dr. Shufer and Dr. Henderson are both very friendly and knowledgeable. They always explain things well, including the medical issues as well as costs. The staff is very attentive and they always recognize me and Merve, which makes us feel at home. Ive had many pets in my life and have used other vets before Alta Rancho and wouldnt think of going anywhere else.

I took my 3 year old Sulcata Tortoise named Bowser here for respiratory problems. All the staff was really friendly and detailed on what was happening with Bowser and what treatments he was going to be needing. The prices are great in comparison to other reptile vets I have taken Bowser too. I would suggest this place to everyone!!!

I took my English Bulldog; Sassy to Alta Rancho Pet Hospital for a second opinion on chronic problems she had been having with her skin. I had been to 3 different vets over the previous 2 years in attempts to solve her problem with no success. She was suffering from a horrible odor an chronic itchiness around her bottom. The odor was also coming from her face and ears. We had tried all sorts of shampoos and rinses, oral drugs etc with no luck.When I went to Alta Rancho Pet Hospital, I was greeted by a very friendly and knowledgeable staff. They took an exhaustive history of my dogs problems and then I got to meet Dr. Shufer. We talked for a long time about what had been done in the past, what helped, what didnt help etc. He did a very thorough exam of Sassy and discussed her problem with me, indicating that her issue was common to Bulldogs and related to chronic irritation from the skin folds creating an environment which allowed infection to occur. Because of her very tight corkscrew tail, and her generous facial folds, he suggested a surgical solution to Sassys problem. He warned me that it might seem radical, but that in the end, elimination of the folds was the only way to get sustained relief. I thought over the concept for a few days and decided to go ahead with the surgery.Dr. Shufer showed me their impressive surgical suite and described the procedure in detail. Essentially, he was going to remove her tail entirely and cut away the facial folds to solve Sassys problem. The surgery went very smoothly as did the recovery. 2 weeks later, after the sutures were removed, my Sassy was totally fixed! She stopped itching, stopped scooting and stopped stinking. I dont want to sound extreme, but it was like a miracle.I am so glad that we found Alta Rancho Pet Hospital and Dr. Shufer and I know Sassy is glad too.

I trust Dr Shufer with my birds. I recently had to take my bird in for some testing and was very nervous about it, but the staff there and the doctor answered all my questions and put me at ease.
