Mr. Craigs work was excellent and fast. He is a kind gentleman, polite, good conversation and amazingly talented. Visiting his shop was a real treat to see how he restores lamps and makes lamps from found items. He repaired three lamps for me and I will return again soon to purchase one of his lamps. What a find!

Had an old lamp sitting on our family’s piano for 60 years which recently fell and broke. I was expecting to leave it there but he fixed it right on the spot and re-wired it as well. He did the majority of the work on a crate on the sidewalk while chatting in front of the store. It felt like I was a child watching my dad fixing something on his workbench. He is a very nice gentleman, very good at what he does and I certainly recommend supporting this valuable small business.

Sam Craig rewired my chandelier and dug up a matching canopy—while I waited and for reasonable price. It’s now up and gorgeous! He was a pleasure to do business with and I’d highly recommend him.

Wanted matching, quality lamp shades. Went to Craig’s Lamp and Shade. I was looking for an usual style (rectangle oval). He had the size I needed in stock as well as set me up with matching harps and finials. He was very nice and personable. A gem in Raleigh! I am so happy to have found Craigs Lamp & Shade shop. Craig was very knowledgeable and a real delight to chat with while he found me two beautiful silk shades, harps and some finials for other lamps. Came in to buy a hard to find lamp socket with the threaded shell ring for an upright lamp. This is the only guy that had it in North Raleigh. Great little store with tons of lamp shades. Sells parts and repairs lamps. For part sales, make sure you know your wire colors and difference between neutral and hot and that you connect it properly as not to injure yourself or somebody else with improper wiring. Will come back here again!

My lamps touch sensor wasnt working anymore, so Craig installed a switch on the base. He installed it quickly and looks like the lamp was made with it! Highly recommend Craigs Lamp and Shade for any of your lamp repairs needs.

$100 to replace a dimmer on a floor lamp. It worked for 7 months. I guess thats worth 3 stars. Called Craig and he said he doesnt guarantee that anything he fixes will work once it leaves the shop. He said he used a dimmer from China and that the Chinese make poor products. My only recourse: pay him another $100.

Beautiful lighting but grossly over price.

Very excellent service! I needed new lamp shades and I found 2 beautiful ones. Sam noticed my lamp needed to be rewired. He offered to fix while I waited. Enjoyed my conversation with him while he worked for over an hour on my lamp- this hour went past his closing time! I will be returning next week with another lamp for him to rewire. Great experience today! My lamp was repaired while I waited and I enjoyed conversation with the owner. How nice to have folks who can fix things so we don’t have to toss out nonworking items. Always a good idea to call ahead to be sure he’s open.

This place is AWESOME! Sam really knows his stuff both artistically and mechanically with lamps and shades! I brought in a lamp to get a new shade. I heard he was the “Lamp and Shade Whisperer”! We took a lamp into Craig’s. Was immediately greeted. He repaired the lamp in 10 minutes and offered to carry it out to our car. He was extremely efficient. We browsed the other lamps on display and admired several we would have considered purchasing. A great hidden gem!!

Needed some parts to repair a couple of lights, and this store turned out to be an awesome find! Not only were the prices reasonable, he tested my old socket, from maybe the 40s or 50s, with a new plug just to make sure itd work before sending me on my way (even explained the whole hot/neutral business, so Id know what to do when I got home). Also offered a great suggestion to an aesthetic part that I didnt anticipate him having. The dowel and black shoe polish worked perfectly! If youre looking for unique lighting, excellent service, or a nicer variety of parts to do repairs yourself, give Craigs Lamp & Shade a try!

My wife & I drove to Craigs Lamp & Shade to see if it was worth fixing an aging living room lamp. Craig (aka Sam - he uses both first names) was prompt, friendly, and efficient. He fixed our lamp on the spot. We also bought a new shade. His shop is very well stocked. He is the owner as well as proprietor, and he obviously takes pride in providing good service. Well worth the drive, and well certainly go there again if we have need of lighting.

The lamps here are amazing and creative and he has created or restored every single 1. I am going back next weekend to buy my 1st 1. If I could give 10 stars I would. Sam Craig has done 2 jobs for me and theyve both turned out beautifully. The first was a steel floor lamp that I needed rewired. It had an alabaster disk in the bottom and Sam found a way to put a light under the alabaster. The second was a pair of sconces made around the turn of the 20th century. Very heavy and hard to wire. And there was no way to mount them on the wall. Sam did it...dont know how. The man is an artist. He can make a lamp out of anything.

I was looking to have a lamp repaired and stumbled onto the positive reviews for Craigs Lamp and Repair. I walked in fully expecting to drop the lamp off and pick it up in a week. Craig was working on something when I walked in, but immediately dropped what he was doing and gave me his full attention. He offered to repair the lamp while I waited!! What should have been a quick fix, proved to be a a little tricky with a problem with the original wiring. Craig patiently replaced some parts and rewired the fixture in about an hour. His prices were very fair considering the amount of time it took to execute & replace the damaged parts. I would also like mention that he has a beautiful selection of lamps in his store and many are one of a kind that he created himself. I Highly recommended this shop for repairs and new lamps, all served with stellar customer service.

Outstanding! Sam was amazing he took on my antique lamp challange without hesitation. Amazingly, he rewired two double pull chain 43 inch figural lamps in just a couple of hours. He even allowed me to watch him while he worked. The shop had so much selection. He had 6 types of wiring from invisble to classical golden braid. Endless choices of finials and shades. I even learned that I could have a custom shade built and shipped to my door. He had 100s of colors, pattern and metalic swatches to chose from. I felt at ease because Sam is a retired electrical engineer who used to work on large scale projects. The store was beautifully laid out and offered many-many styles in new and antique. The customer service is top notch and will have me back many times in the future. Thank you Craigs Lamp & Shade- I only wished that there were more bespoke service providers like you around in the Triangle. Sam, please do not ever close!
