We ordered a custom home to be built through ECI custom homes. Doug explained the structure to us thoroughly and helped make the process easy. He always was fair during construction and delivered on our dream home. We didnt always agree on every detail but we recognized his honesty and he never cut corners, or let us down on the remedies. I would not recommend ECI Custom Homes. The overall experience of building a custom home is unpleasant with ECI Custom Homes. Initially, we felt like the builder (Doug Muhle) is a great person to work with but that is just the sales side of Doug Muhle. If you go with ECI Custom homes, be sure to have an attorney review the contract. Expect the actual cost of the home to be 10-20% higher than any estimate he initially gives. When it comes time to sign the contract, we were not given time to review the contract ahead of time even after asking to see the contract before signing. Also, do not assume something will be done even if telling the builder prior to the contract being written what you want, if its not written in the contract it will not be done. Get everything asked for in writing, verbal promises will not be delivered. The contract will set allowances for choosing options such as cabinets, countertops, etc. but expect the allowances to fall short of actual costs. Any money paid out of pocket for allowance overages to sub-contractors will not be reflected in the sale price of the home or counted towards deposit. Expect to have extra costs after paying the initial deposit. The initial meetings seem great but after the contract is signed expect things to go downhill. We were told at signing well be guided through the selection process but in reality we received a text or call the day we needed to make a selection. There is no warranty coverage beyond the initial one year warranty. Also, the house will be promised to be delivered in 5-6 months but its not written in contract so expect 9-12 months until the house is delivered. If you want to build a custom home from the ground up, I would recommend you find another builder to save yourself some grief and pain.

ECI Custom Homes built me a beautiful custom home back in October. Doug and his employees were very patient with me while picking out choices and changing my mind a few times, their building process went smooth the entire time and I always got responses back quickly when I had questions I would recommend this builder to anyone I am very happy with how my home turned out and wouldn’t have changed anything.

You will worry to death if you go with this builder.He doesnt respect his buyers money. You never get anything on time with this builder. you will loose more money on top of the contract if you build house with this builder.His allowance system is fraudulent.I will not even recommend this builder to my enemy, NOT EVEN IN DREAMS...LESSON LEARNED..

Great work from Doug and his team back in October. My husband works in the construction field himself, but doesnt know that much about home plumping.So he found Doug through a mutual friend. Doug was able to come in and not just help my husband install the new counter tops for our main bathroom, but he was also able to install the new plumbing that it required. Nothing like updating a bathroom, if you ask me.Overall Id rank the service as excellent. We were able to leave Doug, alone in our home by himself and trust that everything was in good hands. Overall it was really good experience and if you need help remodeling, Id recommend him in the future.

I know flooring and Dougs brought me in to work with him on a few recent projects. His craftmanship is second to none and I dont think that I can say anything short of his business skills and professionalism. Hes a great guy and I hope to work with him again.

ECI Construction Services, Inc. (i.e. Doug Muhle) built a home for us, on our farm in Granville County, NC....during the Spring/Summer/Fall of 2015. Doug and his team were a pleasure to work with.....from site selection & initial design, through project completion. Their project communication process was very good and they kept us on track, in making our various product selections. During the construction process, they kept the jobsite clean and orderly. When the home was turned over to us, it was clean, everything had been verified functional/operational and the landscaping was very neatly done. I would recommend Doug and his team for your new home or remodel project.
