I really like this place. The folks in the office are polite and very helpful. Too bad that car lots run the prices up so the vehicle prices can be ridiculous.

This was a great place to purchase state surplus hardware but now NC has added sales tax and its no longer fun.

Easy to access. Well organized and clearly marked merchandise. Unbelievable values. Desks for $6 and desk chairs for $4 are examples. Lots of other items are available for bid. Access NC State Surplus Property agency on line for a list of items up for bid. Wood working equipment, vending machines, trucks, cars etc. Have fun!

First off, be sure to go to the website and set up a buyers account. Or at your first visit you can fill out the paperwork. You can check inventory online and place bids. Oftentimes your best bet is to go there and see what they have. it has always been a good experience and Ive always found good deals!

Not many other states have such a systematic government property surplus system like North Carolina does. We bought a quite a few pieces of used but still in good shape office chairs and file cabinets. For a new file cabinet, you pay at least 60 dollars after tax at any office appliances store. As long as you dont mind the paint scratch marks and sometimes marker marks, you can get a decent one for a fraction of the price. Yes, a fraction. For a two drawers cabinet you pay $5 dollars only and this price never went up ever since I first learned this place back in 2013. No shipping, cash only. The employees are all very nice, they always help customers loading furniture.They also sell used cars, trucks, trailers and even construction equipment. Used machinery come in all conditions and sold as is. I noticed both car dealers and private owners buy from state surplus.Really a humble and different type of thrift shop. If youre new to the concept surplus. Definitely, check this place out.

Mixture of old office chairs, desks, filing cabinets, shelves, computers and industrial items like laboratory equipment, traffic lights, and other items.Some bulk items like used laptops are bundled on pallets to be bid on. Vehicles in an impound like lot available for bids.Staff is friendly and helpful.You must remove purchased items right after the sale or you risk having it confiscated.Cheap prices! But be careful as they are used items and may be broken or missing parts.

I have bought vehicles & trailers from this agency since 1979. Always bought good vehicles. However this agency has become less customer friendly & to me hard to deal with.

You can always find great stuff for almost free here. The staff are easily the best employees at any business Ive ever been to. If you want to be first in, you can sign a sheet for the line starting at 8 o clock for when it opens at 9

Make sure when bidding on a vehicle that you make an account. Whomever bids on the vehicle, thats whose name the car goes in. Dmv has given me the hardest time trying to transfer a title to car that I paid for. And staff at state surplus really dont wanna deal with title or dmv issues

Once you learn how the process works its ok to shop there. Great place to get very VERY cheap office furniture. The auction process is confusing, but the front desk staff are nice ladies who take the time too explain the bidding rules.

Good place for me to find items that the user history has not been hidden. All problems known are up front and disclosed. Staff is very helpful answering your question about any item they have.

In the past I enjoyed visiting and purchasing at surplus, now not so much. The place is basically a ghost town, when in years prior it was stocked with several electronic items to choose from. You have to bid on the smallest items and too many of the items are overpriced. Surplus is all about making money, but they are doing it all wrong.
