Trust me, DO NOT SUBSCRIBE! I used some airline miles to trial a subscription. I found the quality of the writing to be poor and lean heavily to the right. I asked to cancel the subscription over the phone. They continued to send the paper and then sent letters asking to pay $27 to renew my subscription. The papers finally stopped. I then received a letter to pay $27 from a debt collector despite that I asked to cancel the subscription. I was never sent a bill, just ads asking to renew my subscription. What a scam. Please just avoid subscribing in the first place so you do not have the same headaches I did with this company.

I subscribed originally because I wanted to support local journalism. However, after finding the reporting to be mediocre and frequently biased, I decided I wanted to cancel. They make it a complete headache to cancel, and use shady billing practices that left me with an unexpected bill. Do yourself a favor and skip. Theres a reason theyre bankrupt and I cant say Im sorry.

Literally abhorrent subscription policies. You either have to cancel via email or by calling during the times of 7am-12pm. I would literally rather give my credit card information to scammers over the internet than this predatory business. Stay away at all costs!

Predatory subscription. Cancelled service and payed in full. Now being called by collections for no apparent reason for an outstanding balance. I live in an apartment and never received a single newspaper

I really do not like posting bad reviews but in this case I will have to go with the Pro and Con. Okay, Being a Walmart shopper and leaving out with Groceries to be stopped by a sales rep for a raffle and other things. I normally dont stop I keep it moving cause I always feel its a gimmick behind it. Okay. So the 1st time I stopped. Sure and Behold it was something to sign up for. Now this ladies and Gents is where you have to RUN. Anything offered as far as giftcard etc and just sign up etc Nope. Do NOT take it. I didnt know I was signing up for a 6 month subscription and Ive Called and Gave an Email to Cancel my Subscription. One thing I will have to say to Everyone. If you Sell something to the Public. Tell them what they are signing up for. Dont say the Perks of Signing. You dont know what that person Money situation is especially if they stopping for a Gift card. I talked to a Lovely Woman on the Phone this Morning told her it was nothing she can do to get me to want to get back on board and I Absolutely Mean Every Word I said. DO NOT CALL ME ABOUT SUBSCRIPTION. IT IS CANCELLED. READ INBETWEEN THE LINES OF THESE SALES REP AND PLEASE WHEN YOU SEE SOMEONE WITH A GIFTCARD. RUN. AND RUN FAST. BEFORE YOU END UP WITH A AUTOMATIC RENEWAL AND CHARGED 20 DOLLARS A MONTH. Ive spoke to 3 Reps about 1 Issue. It should have Been 1 Issue, 1 Rep and 1 Cancellation and Not Just Oh what about if I do this or That. If a Customer say they want something to be CANCELED then HONOR what they are Saying to you and Do NOT Question them 1,000 Times or Try to Make them Feel Bad for Cancelling.

Criminals. Called to cancel and their response, Oh I dont have the ability to do that, you have to call customer service. Well then please put me on the phone with someone who does. I signed up for one month, NEVER RECEIVED A SINGLE NEWSPAPER, called to cancel 3 times, and get calls from collections weekly to pay. Do not sign up unless you like being harassed.

No matter what period of time you subscribe for, they will continue delivering papers well after the paid period ends without notifying you that the subscription has lapsed. Then they will turn around and bill you for papers you never asked for at very high rates, and use this balance due as leverage to get you to renew your subscription.I went along with this for years and finally decided not to play anymore.I would highly recommend never subscribing at all.

Constant calling and advertisement even though Ive never signed up nor wanted a subscription and told them to remove me from their call-list on at least 6 different occasions . I was later billed for a subscription and service that I never requested. Customer service cant seem to help me with my issue and now im getting letters from collections.

Charged me $48.00 that went to collections even though I had no email saying I needed to pay this or that a bill was overdo..funny thing is I was up to date on payments when I pressed HOLD SUBSCIPRTION! Now they are trying to charge me and tell me I didnt press hold my subscription online and then they renewed my subscription without my consent which I guess its in the notice you sign up for... Now trying to talk to an agent after 1 the first one hung up on me for no reason. What a headache!

Out of 6 days I received my paper 2 times. Their customer service is obviously overseas and is a disgrace. They are very nice but of no help. I explained no paper for 3 days straight. I was told by a very nice person that spoke broken English she would send a report the carriers supervisor. Two days later still no paper. Called back and was told the same thing. I asked for a supervisor and was placed on hold for over 30 minutes. Hung up and canceled my subscription. You are better off reading the news on WRAL or WTVD online site. This carrier simply doesn’t care about their customer. After reading other reviews I know I am not the only one. Sadly, the N&O is nothing to help fix their image. So sad as I have always loved reading the paper. Frank Daniels, I am sure is crying as he looks down at his paper.

Their reporting is biased, the paper is underwelming and overpriced. They set up open subscriptions with your credit card so they can change prices and charge you without telling you. 6 months after canceling services, and telling sales reps, I Will Never Buy Your Product Ever Again! ....I still receive 2 robo calls a day. If enough of us file a complaint with the Attorney General, theyll get the justice they deserve.

Our experience with the Raleigh news and observer has been very frustrating. Our paper has not been delivered frequently. The only options we are given are credit for the newspaper or delivery the following day. Who wants to read yesterdays paper on the following day? On rainy days they leave the paper on the street in a small plastic bag. In spite of the little plastic bag, it is usually soaking wet and impossible to read.

Ive been a N&O subscriber for over 15 years and have noticed a decline in service. First they stopped crediting your subscription account during vacation holds, then they started the deceptive pricing practice of charging extra for holiday editions and digital access. Now you cant even get through to an agent by phone or cancel subscription online. To sum it up: terrible customer support experience that is sure to turn away many long time subscribers including myself.
