I went here for a second opinion on work the dealer said my car needed. I spoke with JC who was very nice and knowledgeable. He looked under the hood and saw what was going on and said to bring my car back for its next oil change and theyd get a better look and advise me from there. I trusted this guy more than the dealer Ive been going to since I bought this car. Im definitely going back.
They tried to scam us on our repair. Had our car towed there. Was informed it was the AC Compressor and quoted over 2600.00 to fix!! Quick Google search showed average cost was 1200.00. First place we called after quoted 1100.00 and my car runs perfect now. Even with all that they charged me 150.00 just to diagnose the problem was the same cost for total labor to have it fixed!!! Completely unprofessional to do that to anyone!

Just ok, was told to be there before 1pm to get my car in and out that day. When I arrived after taking time off work to make the 1pm time I was asked if I could reschedule for the next week. I said no and walked asked to come back an hour later. Finally got in and was out by about 3:30. Was for an AC service.
They do a great job, honest and fair prices. However, they only wear masks when in front of the plexiglass window despite a large opening in the window, and their employees who drive the cars in and out of the shop do not wear masks when in customers cars. Will take my business elsewhere until the pandemic is over if they cant wear masks when in customers cars or interacting with others.
This is usually my go-to shop for auto repairs. This trip they scheduled me for Wednesday (compatible with my work schedule and theirs). I understand they are busy. They offered free brake inspection with my oil change!

So I went in to this establishment months ago and I wanted my serpentine belt and accessories belt replaced. I went in, they cut my accessories belt and told me that the belt tensioner for my serpentine belt was bad. The technician didn’t want to take off the serpentine belt because when he tried to remove it he saw that it was about to break off and it would cost about 450 to replace. They told me that I had to get it fixed as soon as possible and that putting on both belts would be useless because it would go bad after 3 months because all the belts would be out of alignment. They tried to make me come back by telling me to just leave the car without the accessories belt, I just wouldn’t have A/C or heat and they would put it on when I came back and fixed the tensioner. I went to another shop today and told them I might have a bad tensioner, the mechanic called me and told me there was nothing wrong with the tensioner AT ALL and he replaced the serpentine belt. This place is suspect ... you might have better luck then me. I won’t go back and I wouldn’t recommend any one I know to go there.

I went here about 2yrs ago for a check engine light. Long story short they told me i had a bad head gasket and they wanted to rebuild the engine for about 7-8k. I was given no other options. The car was running fine and id been driving it to Seattle and back daily so I elected to not do that then. When I came to pick it up they told me how bad it was, told me it could cause my engine to size and cause an accident. Then made me sign a thing saying I was aware. I believe this to be a bit of an exaggeration. I put some stop leak in it and drove to Seattle and back for another year and a half (20k miles) before it got bad enough that driving it isnt feasible anymore.Its sat for about 6 months until i saved up the cash for an engine. In spite of my negative experience I believe them to be a reputable shop. So when calling for quotes I gave them a shot. The person I spoke to told me they dont do reman engines and a new one would be like 30k. He did not sound at all interested in helping me find a solution. He was probably just busy to be fair. So I went with another local shop with good reviews and better customer service.
I made an appointment to have my beloved older car diagnosed. They were very fast and thorough with their investigation. I even got a ride home while they took care of my car. Very clean garage, very professional and will not sell you anything. Im completely impressed and they have our business forever! I have an honest diagnosis to keep my car safely on the road!
I would not recommend this shop to anyone, specially for any suspension work. They were unable to diagnose a pretty obvious sound coming from the front suspension. They spoke to me and mentioned parts that could be causing the problem and me thinking they were experienced enough to know their stuff I agreed for them to change the part out. That was definitely not the problem and I’m pretty sure they knew, but decided to take advantage anyway. Also, JC clearly said they DO NOT charge to hook up the smoke machine and diagnose evap leaks, but that diagnosis ended up being on the bill. Be careful dealing with these guys.
New to the area, came here because of the reviews and their fancy awards. What a mistake that was! Took them 2 hours to diagnose my car. Came up with $10,500 worth of damage on my 2007 Toyota Camry that I drove to and from the shop. They told me Id be better off to junk my car, which btw was still running. I took it to get a second opinion. Thank God!! The second shop spent about an hr and a half diagnosing the problem, fixed it and called me to come pick it up under $350 for the whole thing. This happened over 6 months ago and my car is still running great.
Gregs japanese auto in puyallup did a pre-purchase inspection for my subaru on the very same day, in a very timely manner. the inspection was very helpful and easy to understand and led to my purchase of the car. their rate is very reasonable as well. thank you!
Took my Honda in to get diagnosed came back with an 8600$ bill but told me 4500$ for a bad transmission that it was stuck in 2nd or 3rd gear but my buddy fixed it just for a blown fuse just greedy mechanics trying to make money bad transmission when it was just a cheap fuse thieves dont go here if I were you.
I had gone to the Toyota dealership on a recall. They told me some items needed to be replaced. There price was $1,500.00. seemed a bit odd they would bring that up as I had it in 2 different shops prior to taking it to Toyota, and they both said my car was in really condition. I called Gregs Auto and told them what was on the paper. They told me to bring it in, and they would put it up on the rack. Both the mechanic and myself used the list to make sure we captured everything Toyota said was wrong with my car. Turns out there wasnt anything wrong they mentioned. Gregs has treated me well, and they are honest.
As long as we own a Japanese vehicle, we will only go to Gregs. They are amazing, and wont over charge like the dealerships. My wife and I have been taking our vehicles there for years, and couldnt be happier with the service we get.
Had the check engine light on in my Honda Civic Hybrid and had the code read and scheduled a diagnostic. They were able to get me into the schedule quickly, shuttle me home, and shuttle me back to get my car. The customer service was outstanding - friendly and great communication - and the shop was clean and tidy. This was my first visit there and they have secured a new client! I will definitely be visiting them for any future car service or repair needs!
When I brought my car to Gregs not long ago for a major maintenance procedure that had already been done, they did not just do it over, as some may have! Which is why I took another car to them recently to find and fix suspension problems as the rattles & bangs were driving me crazy. Success! And Dave even replaced the battery in my remote. Grateful and pleased, I can certainly recommend Gregs!

Having always worked on my vehicles myself, I was a bit nervous to take my car to a shop. I just didnt have the time to do it. The crew at Gregs in Puyallup was great! They were knowledgeable, friendly and did a great job!
I had the worst experience at this place that I ever had anywhere with a car repair. We spent 1400$ 6 months ago for service and prevention since I bought the car new and eight years later not one problem car ran great. So check engine light came on. Brought it in for diagnostic and instructed them to do what was necessary to fix it and make the engine light go out. They called my wife some hours I was napping and got her to authorize the repairs for 542$ one was a module and they pushed that 200$hot oil flush that my car and your car will never need and has nothing to do with the engine light. So I paid for it and left and got home 20min away and engine light came back on. I called they said no worries he forgot to reset it. I took it back in they hooked up their computer and came back with more codes and said it could cost 3200$ more dollars to replace some modules in a car that I Never had any issues and his response was s_word happens. He offered to do the diagnostic free and I said no I dont trust you since you just gave me a prepatory estimate to prepare me for the discount he would then offer and make it look like he was helping me. Sound familiar to anyone yet. I asked why didnt he diagnose all the codes when I came in the first time. He said that the computer was protecting my car and only gives the most harmful codes first. I said so after you drive home then the other codes come up and this dishonest guy said Yes sounds like my computer likes him more than me. This is a long post but if you got this far then I hope I save you some money and time by Not going to this shop. And stay away from that bogus hot oil flush wherever you go.

I brought a used car into Gregs for a pre-buy inspection. Let me say that I am very impressed by the staff at this location. The technician took the time to fully explain the results of his inspection which allowed me to purchase the car without having concerns about any significant/costly problems. As a matter of fact, I was so pleased with the shop that I had them perform an oil/filter change before I departed back to the dealership to buy the car. I highly recommend this shop.
2003 Lexus ES300 engine was just shot. The folks found us a low mileage replacement engine and installed it within a few days. Wonderful job and we have had no problems at all in the 2 months since the install.
2 stars because the person on the phone gave me a quick quote, but the prices are out of this world! They quoted me $475 to replace 2 wheel studs which are 4$ parts that they charge $15 a piece for, I ended up shopping around and finding another local shop who took care of it for $65. They might have good prices for some repairs but I’d recommend shopping around before you empty your wallet here.
Took my car to two shops, Gregs and another one both had the same diagnosis the other shop was $2,000 cheaper and then the repair bill
We were purchasing a used Acura MDX so we went to this place for a pre-purchase inspection. They are knowledgeable and professional, with a fair price for the quality of work they do. After the purchase of the vehicle was done, we took the vehicle back to them for their recommended service and I can say I am very pleased. They gained another loyal customer!

After my Sequoia started overheating, we were referred to Gregs Japanese Auto to do the diagnostics and repairs. Ive been to many other mechanics, and I always felt like I got the runaround. Not here! They had a solution the same day, performed repairs quickly, and even showed me the part that was broken when I came in to pay. They were very professional and knowledgeable, but also seem like guys youd want to sit around a bonfire and drink a beer with. And as a female who called them saying the thingamajig is broken they still treated me with respect, and I sincerely appreciate that! They have a customer for life here!

These guys are honest, fair and very helpful, not to mention a lot less than the dealership. They even suggested that I check with the dealership to see if the brake problem was covered by warranty. Had a sitch that Discount tire took care of with Gregs. But then after taking care of that part, they found something else. Discounts response was.... that part was on me and had nothing to do with them, which I understand and was true. The mechanic then told me the owners out of town, however he may have compassion for you and do it at no charge or may charge you however hes on vacation and hell get back to you on Monday mind you this was on a Friday, which I was potentially going to be without a vehicle to include Friday four, possibly five days which was going to be a huge inconvenience. Early Saturday morning I get a phone call and was told that the mechanic came in early on his day off to fix my vehicle at no charge what a blessing, ESPECIALLY bc I was experiencing a traumatic situation that required my car!!💖🥰 God bless the owner and the mechanic for blessing me with my situation!👌👌

I used to take my Crosstour to a Honda dealership in Sumner until their service department felt more like a sales department and was found quoting services I didn’t need. Greg’s is like a local breath of fresh air. No high pressure service sales, no commissions, just great service for your car.
Great shop! They have always done a great job for me, and not charged me for things that I did not need! I appreciate their knowledge and explaining things to me about what they will do before hand, and what they did and found, if anything, afterwards that may need attention i the future!
As a mechanic i am very sceptical of shops i have worked in a few good ones and a few bad ones ...... this is a great shop!! I had my grandma drop off her car for a squeaky belt expecting to be told we need tons of parts but the service writer and mechanic were very honest and made the correct repairs as i would have i am recommending this shop to anyone with an import thank you guys for being honest i will be a returning customer

My family and I just returned from Japan after a five year tour and were blessed to receive a 2006 Acura MDX from family, as we were in transition. Sadly, the SUV unexpectedly had a major transmission failure after using it for a month. Not being sure if it was a total loss I knew to take it to Greg’s. As we have called the NW home for over a decade, I was a long time listener to “Greg’s Japanese Auto” radio show on KVI. I have routinely used the Puyallup shop for a long time when my shade tree mechanic skills were at a loss. I was not let down again as Ty and JC both quickly ascertained my worst fear. Thankfully, TY was quick to assist us with a plan to dispose of the vehicle as the cost benefit of repairing it didn’t make sense. With care and compassion they helped us get rid of the “paper weight” and we were free of the stress of dealing with the disposal. I’m happy to see that Greg’s is still the same shop. They treat customers like family and are experts in their craft. I will always use them...

I took my Forester in because there was a noise in the front end and a potential transmission issue. Gregs did a thorough review and advised me that there was a potentially costly transmission issue. They took the initiative to contact a Subaru dealership and found out I was still under warranty for the transmission. They gave me all the information and referred me to the dealership. I so appreciate their thoroughness and honesty. I will come back again.
They were really helpful and they got my wiper motor put in really fast.

Great experience! I came in right before they closed with a broken belt and they got me in that next morning and had my car ready for me at the time they said and remembered my name as I walked in the door. Gave me a flat charge that actually decreased when I paid. No unexpected charges or increase in labor. Very happy and would recommend anyone to them.

Based on the radio advertisement (and catchy song), I was pretty excited to at least give Gregs Japanese Auto a shot. Right now, I cant say I really like Gregs, but I cant say I dislike it either. The staff was friendly and prompt, but they also didnt have a rental ready for me either (though they said they would get me one). I had to wait about 30 minutes for someone to pick me up and take me over to Enterprise...not the greatest experience to be honest. Their prices appear to be on par with a dealer, though the price they quoted me in-store was also $20 higher than over the phone. Though quality of work remains to be seen. Its a pickem at this point unless theres some other value add I have yet to notice.Service - TBDPrice - 3Staff - 4
If I could give this place zero stars I would. I had the worst customer service experience in my life at the Puyallup Greg’s Japanese auto. I had an appointment for an oil change. I asked Ty and CJ how long it would be and was told about an hour. I asked them which direction I should walk for the best stores and we had a friendly conversation about what was nearby. I told them I would be back in an hour. When I returned CJ told me they were just about to start on my car. I was shocked it wasn’t even started let alone finished. CJ asked if Ty knew I was waiting. I told him of course he knew and reminded him of the conversation we had about me walking and being back in an hour. When Ty came up to the desk he didn’t even look at me or acknowledge my presence at first. Both were rude and unapologetic. I would never recommend this place or go there again.

UPDATE:PREVIOUS REVIEW: Went in after the dealership diagnosed me with a leaking power steering pump. Price was much better and looks like they did a great job also were very friendly and honest. HOWEVER, I got in my car and as Im driving I notice a HORRIBLE smell through my vents...I get home and open my hood and looks like when they took the old pump out and did the fluid exchange, the power steering fluid went everywhere and theres small pools of it on my skid plate and around the new pump. Unfortunate because power steering fluid is flammable which can cause damage and is just overall unsafe. Makes driving the car very unpleasant for now, hoping the smell goes away soon, but wish it couldve been cleaned up as they put everything back together....AFTER: After being contacted by the shop, I was called in to have my car checked out again completely for free. They were super genuine about wanting to make sure the job was done right and that my engine bay was not just clean, but that the power steering pump was not leaking or faulty. They also had me return multiple times to check the pump and even put dye in the pump to make sure any leaks would be spotted. I recommend this shop as a good alternative to the dealership, quality work, at almost half the price!

I regret bringing my vehicle to GJA.Good service. Im sure they did a good job, but I paid too much. No cheaper than the dealer. At least the dealership would have given me a loaner vehicle. I will not return.

They did good work but I felt they prioritized another car that had some unexpected issues. They gave me the option to do further trouble shooting the next day but I needed my cat.

We had a pre-purchase inspection done there on our 01 Toyota Sequoia. I had a few notes of concern on the car and they verified it with documentation. Friendly and helpful staff dropped my wife and daughter off at the mall in our vehicle and picked her back up in it (so as to not have to move the car-seat into their shuttle vehicle). We will be returning for our future maintenance needs.
These guys are awesome! I know absolutely nothing about cars AND I was in a huge rush. AutoZone had told me that switching out my headlight bulb was a thirty minute job and a huge inconvenience and none of them were able to help, but I stopped by Gregs and J.C. had me fixed up and ready to go in five minutes. He was very friendly and helpful, and I wasnt even charged for the service. Next time something is up with my car I know where Ill be headed right away! (:

Im writing this true review based on what we experienced with this repair shop. My husband car broke down the tow truck came and brought the car to this shop. The told my husband that the coolant is leaking and the car over heat but it didnt. They want to change this and that and charge my husband $1620. Dont go to this car repair shop they will charge you way to high.

Took it there to get my car worked on because it failed emissions. Did not want to work with us in helping us pass or help out with a waiver. Told us to get anothrr car...so unprofessional. Would not ever refer u to go there.
