If anyone calls the main number then you know you cant get thru. All you have to do is change the last 2 digits of the main number and you will get a real persons voicemail. So the main number is 4584400 so then you would put 4584417 or 4584420 ect. Just here to help you guys get a real case worker.
Horrible ethics and communication skills. It has been over seven years!! that I’ve been going to court held in contempt for child support. No one in this office has tried to provide any help or assistance in reconciling my issues. They love the words pay up or we’ll lock you up. When asked to grant visitation of my kids. I’m told it’s a different case!! These people aren’t there for the children; they are here for the revolving door of income.
If there was a lower rating I would give it to her, when I started paying child support in 2019 i tried contacting her regarding a pin number, I finally obtain it from someone else. My exwife contacted me, informing me the system says I owe back child support, she willing wrote a letter that was notarized stating I owe nothing, mailed and faxed it, five time.Tried calling her supervisor, mail box was always full,called 8 times daily for two months. I am still in the same situation. If these people had to get a job in the real world, they wouldnt last. Thank you Rhode Island.Needed the assistance of an elected official of to fix this issue, .
I have been in this state for 3 years. Nothing is getting done. I have supplied all social security numbers and addresses that they have asked for Why is nothing getting done. I understand about interstate cases. But I have given every bit of info they need.
The state child support system is a joke. Right in line with the DMV, also a joke. And as I sit here read all of the horrible reviews - from people on both sides, payer and payee - I want to know if anyone from the Governors office READS theses things. This is an obviously completely broken system, and no one does anything. As one woman said, if you want to know why so many people are on welfare, just look to this - and other - broken government systems.
Got a letter in the mail saying if I wanted to not go through with child support case to call the number provided to speak with an agent. I tried multiple times to call and all I get is their automated voice system throwing me around in circles & asking for a case number I do not have. Not 1 time could I get through to an agent because the automated voice system makes it impossible! They basically force me to go through with a child support claim that I don’t want to go through with!
None of the case workers answer their phones.None of the case workers have voicemail set up.How is anyone able to work with their case worker or even ask a basic question?Complete failure as a government agency.

They took a $400 check away from me and my kids to pay my kids fathers arrest in medical. I get a check every 2 weeks. There’s money being sent it but I still haven’t gotten a check in a month and half. How crazy that during a pandemic they felt paying his medical arrest is more important than taking care of my kids because “I reached the amount of support for the month” so now I’m drowning in bills With 3 kids.
Many DHS employees are often limited in their abilities to help clients, and to some extent, it is easy to understand that laws and policies in place to ensure privacy and accuracy would create a slower system- so I wont complain about the weeks it often takes to hear back from your assigned representative, (that is IF you can navigate their needlessly complicated voicemail system- AND it isnt full!)I have been shocked at their lack of any attempt to even pretend like they care. Its not hidden, the disdain is so obvious, that even as a custodial parent calling to ask for case information, youre usually left still without clear answers or clear timelines. ONCE RIOCSS IS INVOLVED- the integrity and transparency of your case is shattered.I cannot imagine trying to navigate this if I were not a custodial parent or did not speak English as my first language. Their bias is evident- even over the phone. The case workers at RIOCSS are not motivated to help their clients and their families because they look down upon us for having to ask their agency for help.So, to those of you employed by RIOCSS, I want to say one thing. I would like you to know, that as parents, we utilize your services because we are trying to help our children build a life that they can be proud of. We are your clients because we hope to help our kids break the cycle- WE WANT BETTER FOR THEM- and YOU chose a job in which you promised to help facilitate that.If you no longer have the desire as a Child Support Representative to help your community build stronger families and offer broader horizons to the children who rely on you- PLEASE QUIT.Because I am an admin assistant- and I could do your job- AND YOUR TERRIBLE PHONE SYSTEMS JOB- from my bed with my eyes closed.Your lack of any care and concern for the population you serve is VERY evident in all you do RIOCSS. I am a AD military member (non-custodial) and without notification my case was closed fromone state and opened in RI. The only notifications I have received from RI OCCS, are that they are going to withhold taxes for backpay even though money is taken straight from my military pay and I had a zero balance for arrears with the prior state. The issue is not the money. The issue is that I am not notified of actions being taking against me- and like so many other post, no one from OCCS ever responds and now you can’t even leave messages because they want you to call a number - a complete run around. NO HUMAN is ever available to talk to! They are so quick to take action against the non-custodial with that person having no recourse but to deal with it. It cannot be lawful for a state to file a motion of arrears for years of back pay, if child support was paid in another state. Additionally, to continue to take money for a child who is of age 18 and graduated high school. The process is extremely stressful and it’s a shame that it seems that the employees of this agency are not held accountable by anyone to do the jobs (properly) that they get paid to do.

Theyre doing to my daughter what they did to me 6 years ago. They sent my ex a letter that he didnt have to pay child support anymore while my daughter was still in school. They allowed him to get away with the $33000 back child support and he never had to reimburse the state of RI for the birth of my daughter while he made $10,000 a month

His word is supposed to be taken seriously last time I checked. You gave me an excuse that it was a mistake. No it wasnt cause you didnt send money to my daughter instead you chose to put it in the system. Knowing what court order stated. You can lie to me but we are going to see if you are going to lie to the judge.

I had an issue with the payments. With them keeping payments that they werent supposed to. They received 2 payments on the same day and kept both of them. When I tried to get help, my case worker yelled at me about how theres nothing wrong with their system and then hung up on me. Yup waited a week for a call back, just to get that reaction. He kept interrupting me when I tried to explain what was happening to him. So ignorant. I notified call for action and hopefully someone can help me get through to a decent human being to help me solve this issue.
I sent two faxes asking for a case worker to contact me as to why this department is giving out my personal information to a bank with which I have no business since my youngest child is 27, and Ive received NOTHING from this office in at least 15 or more years. No answer. I contacted the governors office. Twice they contacted this office, and finally I got not one, but two case workers who call, leave a message and their desk number, AND NEVER PICK UP THE PHONE. I explained that I work THIRD shift, and sleep during the day, so Ms Brilliance calls me at 9am, when Im sleeping, to let me know shell call back at 3pm, the same day WHEN IM STILL SLEEPING. She tells me she knows I work second shift, after I left her two messages repeated telling her I work third and shed have to let me know a day before when shed call. I started with this inquiry at the beginning of DECEMBER. No one bothered to get back to me until I contacted the governors office and it was still 2 months later, and the case workers dont even make an honest effort to help. THIS IS ABOUT THIS DEPARTMENT SENDING OUT PERSONAL INFO IT HAS NO RIGHT TO GIVE OUT SINCE MY CASE HAS BEEN CLOSED FOR MORE THAN 15 YEARS. Umless they sat on money for 15 years, which is highly unlikely, since they didnt so their job then either. I guess its time for a lawyer.
I am owed $100k in child support ON RECORD for my two children. Been trying for almost a decade to collect, the state of Rhode Island has made it impossible. Impossible to talk to a real person. Nobody answers. Spent years in court that only cost me thousands in lawyer fees, never collected a dime. Our state’s child support system is a farce and shameful. And we wonder why so many single mothers on welfare?..look to yourself, Rhode Island.
Well first, its impossible to reach anyone in a hurry, Family Services tends to do what they want when they want despite knowledge of potential orders and hearing outcomes, and as stated there is never anyone you can call for a QUICK response. Even if you show up willing to pay, they have already put something in place, they wont try to stop it, it will just run its course at your expense. Something as important as child support, should be run and managed, much more efficiently.
I have called 3 times over 4 mnths. No payments and no one EVER calls back. Worst support for children ... really its not their fault half of their parent doesnt want to accept responsibility. You took the job to help these kids and do nothing to help them . Fire everyone and rehire some compassionate ppl. Ive done more research to find ex employment address then they ever even bother to . I showed up today at 830 without an appointment because they keep sending me letters that they are going to go through with putting both my kids fathers on child support when I never even asked them to put them on child support in the first place, the old miserable man that works there told me its because the kids have insurance and that the fathers need to provide a secondary insurance for them though a private company since I have Medicaid in RI and the dad lives in new jersey that is the most ridiculous thing I ever heard then he says all states follow that law which is not true at all. then he starts yelling at me when I keep asking him questions and telling him that doesnt make any sense. he didnt bother explaining anything to me I was just as confused when I came in, when I came out. i cant believe this place is still running I cant imagine how they treat everyone else, and you cant even yell back cause the security guard is ready to kick anyone out, but when these fools yell at us they still keep their jobs !
Being an out of state parent I am able to get my deposits on time with no problem. My case worker always returns my calls within 24hrs. I never expect a return call the same day because of the high volume work load that they have.

This place never answers any calls. The case worker is never there and one cannot just show up to get help because you need to schedule an appointment by contacting your case worker. Does not make sense how can I make an appointment when my case worker is never in. The last time I tried walking in I was almost arrested by the dick dead of an officer they have there because I wanted to speak to someone regarding my case. This place needs to be demolished. I was forced to give them a star but they dont even deserve that.
I have been dealing with these people for over 14 years. There is ALWAYS a problem. No one EVER awnsers the phone or even returns a call. I have sent emails several times to the Attorney generals office in regards to this problem. What do these people do all day? They maybe over worked by the amount of cases they have but they wouldnt have any problems if they would do there job and do it right!!
This office is completely unprofessional. Im not sure what writing a review will do since it is a government agency and apparently they dont have to answer to anyone. I have been trying to reach someone there to talk to about my case, but they refuse to make time to talk to me. Is there even anyone working there? I understand that it can be busy, and I dont expect a call right away, but why cant I even schedule a time to talk to someone. I pay almost $10,000 a year to them, and I cant get a phone call?
BOB is the person I spoke with he is very rude. I asked his name his response was Bob isnt that easy enough to understand? I asked for his supervisors phone number and he refused to give it to me. I asked how I can go about getting the 3000 owed to me and his response is I cant do anything about back support owed to me. He doesnt belong working with the public he is rude and miserable.
Worst place ever!! 1 star is far too great of rating for them. Tried called them over and over again for days and no way to speak with a live person therefore I cannot have my questions answered because there is not automated prompt for it. They need to come up with a much better way to support their families!!
This place is ridiculous, you get child support to help with expense, but they dont even put the money on time, never mind calling. The government should pay attention to all the one stars reviews, everyone in that department need retraining in how to deal with people is no need to be rude, or put down someone for their rights. There are better human been out there waiting for a government job, but because rude people like you get the connection need it their loose the opportunity and we have to deal with you. Really! This office is beyond worthless. My sons mother hasnt worked or paid for a damn thing since day one. Thank god I kept my receipts, I go to court and they ring up the fact that my family owns a farm, and that I was left money in a will. My grandfather has been dead for a decade. This office is a joke. Im disabled and theyre trying to get money out of me when I help out o. The farm on occasion. We make no money on the farm dumb asses. Its just a lot of property.
Never answers, never sends out notices before locking your bank or even a call. Notices came 3 weeks after lock for only 100$ almost caused me to lose my apartment due to bank being locked.. had no issue paying the amount but you have to do it threw a phone rep not online which is damn near impossible when they never answer...
Everyone who is having issues call the Attorney Generals Office and put in a complaint thats part of what they are there for. They are extremely nice and you will always receive help. I called for other departments within the city and I received help within two days when it was taking months from the department.
So apparently when you physically go in to get your payments stopped its ineffective. I got the first round of money back & now i have to go back because eventhough the process was supposed to be stopped, no such thing happened. Now i tried to call, but thats as much wasted time or more than driving into the city (i hate the city) & paying to park. Going back up to the office to see if i can actually get lucky enough for them to truly cancel it this time so they can send me another set of individual checks for each payment over. Thats cost affective on mail i guess.. Sarcasm intended. I would almost bet that when it comes to govt services, RI would be in the top five most wasteful states. Disgusted with RI as usual. Cant wait to move & give my lower taxes to a more deserving state.

She was impatient and said its out of her hands and just to patiently wait for CT. Its going into 2 months, how long am I suppose to patiently wait?! I live in Florida and get child support from RI, the child support from here has been trying to get in contact with RI for years not months 4 years now to get an order of release from them so I can get child support from Florida and no one ever calls them back. This is ridiculous I have to change my address and I haven’t received my payments since 2017 and I have to fly down because I can’t talk to no one through that 458-4400 number that’s useless. From the judges down this is the worst state/ government run circus in town! I have been put through hell from day one! These people are not even trying to do there jobs in a way that is beneficial to the public! The judges are afraid to enforce the law when it comes to the custodial parent and fall so short of issuing justice that they themselves make you want to become a terrorist and blow the whole building sky Hi ( plead dont do it). So glad my son is now 21. I hate the fact they get paid for the job they dont Do.
I really wish that can give this place a 0 rating. First off, youre better off going to this place early because no one will ever pick up the phone. Ive been Calling Kevin Conelley for over a month everyday because money is owed to me. They are super quick to take money out of your check, but never quick to give it back. I once went in to ask for my docket number and the girl was so rude and said no, you should be responsible enough to have it, you can request one in the mail. Another time, when I went in to have it CS removed, another lady was so rude asking irrelevant question until I got to the point to tell her to check my file, she sent me to get a signature from the judge and that lasted AN HOUR AN A HALF! seriously? Finally went to CS again at 3:48 and you guessed it, it was closed, as I waited a couple of the workers came out and as I try to explain my situation, they start walking away ignoring me, what kind of bs is that. Im sick of this place, it has made me lose money and time, the unprofessionalism is intolerable, the workers are incompetent and the that whole system is ridiculous. This place is the worst place in the world and i understand there are terrible parents in RI but still there is no fairness or respect, be professionals.

The phone number is useless. You cant get a hold of anyone. I cant afford to miss time out of work and go to the office. I fixed an issue well over a month ago and nothing was changed.

If i could give them a zero i would terrible in every aspect especially the case worker i have assigned, half of them are rude and try to get you off the phone when you have questions about your case and if you are the defendant and try to do the right thing forget it they just to make your life more difficult, i have keep up with all my payments and still they charge me interest on a modified case where all interest should have stop over a year ago, the case worker just want to make things more difficult even after i ask the judge about interest and he sad their should be none, so now i have to set a date and explain to the judge the case worker refuse to remove the interest,. My experience has been AWEFUL so far...Over 2 months ago I filled out all the paperwork and had documents notorized and mailed out the very detailed packet of information to Dorrence Street. I am a single Mom and I make $7.70 an hour part time at Stop & Shop. My ex-husband moved away to Tennesee. He does NOTHING for our 2 minor children, even when they call him and ask for something. They need so much more than I can afford and I was hoping to get into court to begin receiving something. I have yet to hear back from the Child Support Office, you cannot call because it is a recording. I am just beside myself. Christmas is next week and I can barely afford anything with everything else they need!!! I feel like the State of RI could care less about my girls!!! Not quite sure what to do with this matter.
