Super great staff and customer service. We were passing through from out of town and had some unexpected car troubles. Should have cost me way more with parts and labor, but they got us out cheap and saved me a few hundred dollars. Highly recommend this location! They were so great and so understanding and up-front. I trust them and their staff! Great people! Great prices!

Please review the comments under my Wife, Kelly Elmer and the response by The owner Gary Denton. Gary is incorrect in response to my wifes review. They are not slanderous allegations, the facts in the initial review are true. Please understand that by Gary Dentons own words in paragraph (6) of the reply he states that the technician simply FORGOT to change the transmission line because the part did not come in. Admits BIG MISTAKE on their part... Understand that I WAS CHARGED FOR THE PART AND I PAID FOR THE PART AND THEY CHARGED ME FOR THE LABOR AND I PAID FOR THE LABOR. I PICKED UP MY TRUCK AND LEFT.The POINT Mr Denton that you seem to be ignorant to is that if I had been an elderly man or woman or someone NOT familiar with cars/trucks and did not know how to recognize a transmission line that was OLD, you would have gotten away with charging me for the parts and labor and ripped me off MORE! How many people have you let out your door with the same treatment? How many people did you make the same BIG MISTAKE to?? This is a community of great people and some elderly people that DO NOT DESERVE FOR YOU TO RIP THEM OFF WITH YOUR INCOMPETENCE AND BIG MISTAKES!Rather than OWNING it, you are only making an attempt to give excuses for this BIG MISTAKE you made, you in return are TRYING to slander me and LYING about threatening your incompetent wife Kathleen. I said just that she is incompetent and it wasnt a threat, it is the truth. I only made it clear I did not trust you, your wife or your mechanics to bring my truck back after this huge mistake and that I could not trust that you would fix it correctly and without more trouble from you. As well, that I cannot trust that the transmission that you claim to have repaired is fix correctly.YOUR MECHANICS SAID THE BRAKES WERE METAL TO METAL... LIE. YOU SAID THE ROTORS WERE HORRIBLY GOUGED... LIE. You said that I threatened your wife... That is horribly wrong and shocking that you would revert to such pathetic and outlandish accusations to try and cover your awful service and mistakes.YOU go so far to imply that my Wife and I are looking to threaten local businesses so we dont have to pay for goods as if WE are a threat to this community and we are a problem? WOW. My debts are paid sir and you collected my money in good faith to perform a service that your business said you would do and FAILED and LIED. You resort to defamation of my good name and you sir have proven my point!!I do not own a business or offer service to members of this community and I have nothing to gain. I DO have an obligation to others and to love my neighbors and helpless people dont deserve the same treatment from you!!!PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR BUSINESS HERE AND SPEND YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY!(I was not able to post pictures through google review, however please go to AAMCOs Facebook page to view photos there under the review section)

Of all the people I contacted about this job, Gary (the owner) replied to my inquiry the fastest, even considering I inquired on a Sunday, when they were closed. (One of the businesses I inquired with didnt reply until 2 days later, -after- I was already on my way home from AAMCO!)I got in for an oil change Tuesday at about 9:50 a.m. and the mechanic was finished in less than 30 minutes. Very impressive! Not even my regular mechanic of 5+ years has done that before. (Guess who may just have a new mechanic?!)And, of all the businesses I contacted, AAMCOs prices were the best! (Even before considering any Veterans discount, which was extremely generous!)Thanks, Gary and everyone else at 6871 E 1st!

One of the best shops around town. Very knowledgeable people, friendly and helpful.Sometimes they do free estimates and not like other shops that will charge you $100 bucks to look your car. They offer 10 perfect discount to all Veterans with the proof of an ID wich not many mechanics do (Thats TERRIFIC).I took my car one time because check engine light was on my dashboard, they look at it and all it was that fuel cap wasnt properly closed. That was a very honest move. And thats why I started bringing my two cars to them since that day.I highly recommend this shop to anyone

I went to an AAMCO in Washington state, & by the time they were finished with me, I paid double what everyone else charges, & the warranty, literally, wasnt worth the paper it was written on.A year later, when the transmission fell completely apart, I found AAMCO in Prescott Valley, Arizona. These guys did everything in their power to make things right with me. They do good work & treat their customers the way they should be treated. I highly recommend AAMCO in Prescott Valley, Az.

I have been in for several things with a 03 Dodge Ram.This truck is over 190,000 miles and AAMCO has replaced the engine, rack and pinion, radiator, and heater core. They have done a great job on each portion, answered questions and quickly checked anything I was not sure about. I changed the fuel pump out myself and when I had trouble with one connection, they were happy to take a look and help me with the problem without taking advantage of the situation. The truck is running great and may very well give me the next 200,000 miles. I am very happy with the service and do recommend them highly.

Just two days ago, I had a wonderful experience with this company.I was met by a very competent, Receptionist, Michela. After explaining concerns about the Tundra, she was able to schedule in, right then, a diagnostic check on the vehicle, which would take about an hour.I sat back and relaxed in a comfortable chair, munching on popcorn and drinking a cup of coffee, in a sparkling clean waiting area. After the vehicle was put on a lift and inspected, Jon called me in for a review of inspection. Being a senior woman, I sincerely appreciated his personable, respectful, informative, manner of explaining what he had found. When diagnostics were complete, Jon came back into waiting area with a full report, where we were joined by Lead Technician Cary. All my questions, concerns, were answered. Before leaving, I met Gary Denton, the owner, shook his hand, and lauded the great service.I am so thankful to have found a repair shop I can trust. And, now I know AAMCO Transmissions is truly a Total Car Care facility.

I took my car in for a small transmission leak. The technician found a problem with the transmission and it was recommended to replace it with a factory rebuild one. They also found that the air compressor was leaking and one seal on the engine was also leaking. I agreed to have all of it fixed. I picked my car up after they called me that it was ready. That was on a Saturday. When I drove home I noticed that it was just not shifting right. Very jerky. I parked it in my garage and it was then that the transmission was leaking quite a bit of fluid. Come Monday I took it back and explained the problem. After forty five minutes test driving They determined that the transmission was faulty and it would have to be replaced again. The staff was very apologetic about it and arranged a rental car for me. It is all fixed now and running as it should. I very much appreciated their concern and help with the rental. That bad transmission was not their fault but they went out of their way to be helpful.I can highly recommend them. They treat you right.

Took the car down and the problem is fixed. They also noticed two of my tires were separating and tightened some loose bolts the found. I will be bringing my business to AAMCO moving forward. I was experiencing shifting issues with my vehicle. I brought it in to see what was going on. Your mechanic looked it over and stated there was nothing wrong with it. He told me that these are really good transmissions and he hardly sees any issues with them. Exactly a week later I have issues again. I bring it back in and now he states I need a new transmission. I brought in initially to prevent any further damage and after your advice, a week later, you want to sell me a $3000 transmission. I dont feel like your team trouble shot my initial concern correctly. For that reason I dont trust your shops trouble shooting skills and will not visit or recommend your services.

I cannot believe how helpful, kind and awesome the owners and their employees are! We had previously had transmission work done at a Scottsdale location, only to have the transmission go bad in bumper to bumper traffic on the labor day weekend. We were on our way to our adopted daughters wedding. Although they were closed, they open their doors and hearts; called in their mechanic from home and got us on the road again. Without them, we never would have seen her walk down the aisle. I cannot, simply cannot thank them for making her day special and for taking care of us. While the staff was nice to me, they were not helpful. They refuse to honor their warranty on a truck transmission, claiming that the warranty is not transferable. The title to the truck in question is still in the owners name and the owner is willing to come and sign the work order. There should be no reason why this should not be covered. The transmission is in the covered window of time, still in the owners name and any current debt will be paid. They just dont want to honor their warranty and thats just plain dishonest. Dont do business with AAMCO.

I got a pre owned transmission for around $3500 and had problems 4 months after getting that transmission, it has now been just about a year and over 6 transmission codes now come up and my car is now not working. When I called to talk to them about the situation I was absolutely talked down to and was told it was my fault that I chose a pre owned transmission. Also tried to tell me they will do nothing to help because I owe them $200 for a repair that they didn’t fix. This is no way to treat a customer who has now had money stolen from them by giving a bad transmission to them. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone, definitely choose a different place to spend your hard earned money cause this place completely scammed me out of $3500.

I agree in my opinion aamco is SCAMCO, I am being honest & letting everyone know I truly think they DO NOT know what they are doing. You will pay for them to guess! They NEVER fixed our vehicle but charged us over $700 how is that right? They just kept telling us something different everyday & kept squeezing more money. We requested our old parts when we suspected they were scaming us. They said it would be in the vehicle, guess what they werent, not surprisingly! Took to another mechanic that took care of a simple problem. Now my family will have an attorney contact them & we will call the investigative news & the BBB. I hope you TRUST ME & take somewhere else. My opinion they deserve NO STARS! Sometimes I think family & friends write the good reviews. Check with the BBB

My overdrive off light on my 95 Dodge Class B RV came on this past weekend out of nowhere, and I found myself locked out of my overdrive gear--not good when your upcoming plans call for high-speed freeway driving.Roy at Brake Masters recommended that AAMCO take a look at things, as AAMCO has the right equipment to do OBD scans on older vehicles. So, I made an appointment for 8 AM the next day.I arrived to find an immaculate lobby full of treats (cookies, granola bars, popcorn, Keurig coffee, etc., etc.) and Gary (the owner!) sweeping away the three or so leaves that had found their way through the door that morning.I then worked with Cary (Lead Tech) to get my vehicles problem diagnosed (ended up being a faulty overdrive lockout switch). Cary was absolutely awesome--a wealth of technical knowledge, patience, and customer service. A true gem.I ended up heading over to the local U-Pick-It (junk yard) to find the switch I needed, and I was able to replace the faulty switch myself.I went back to AAMCO the next day and had Cary run another OBD scan and do another test drive to make sure the problem was fixed, and thankfully, it was. Finally, I also had very positive interactions with both Kathleen (co-owner) and Mikaela (sp.?) at the front counter. And the price? FREE, as my situation fell under a free diagnosis policy.Transmissions are complicated and expensive, but their proper functioning is absolutely necessary (obviously), especially when youre a long way from home like I was (MN). If youre in the Prescott area and you need service on your vehicle, you can feel confident in heading over to AAMCO.Thanks, everybody!

When you do this year of subaru there is no top ball joint, instead it’s a system of two bolts connected to the struts the top bolt of the system controls the allignment of the tire, so before you take that bolt off you need to mark exactly where the bolt lines with a paint marker or dremel to keep the same allignment. That’s my only complaint I would come back

Excellent Customer service did not make up for the incompetent mechanic(s).Our car broke down while on a day-trip in June and took it to Aamco the next morning. They couldnt diagnose even though I told them the engine code was multiple misfire (per autozone). We had to get a room for the night. The next day they couldnt diagnose still. We had to get another room for the night. On the third day I started asking more questions. Asking the mechanic if he checked for spark and verified that the distributor was good. He and front office said the car did not have a distributor. I physically went to the engine with the mechanic and pointed directly at the distributor.... all I heard was crickets (the excuse the office gave was he thought it was an internal distributor like the other Sebring models). They gave me the option to purchase a new distributor (non-refundable) to eliminate the possibility that this would be the cause; had no choice but to pursue this option. The new distributor allowed the car to maintain idle and was drive-able. They stayed a little later to get this done but after the test drive they pulled it up to the door for us to take home; left it running (it was obvious they were pushing us out the door). It still did not sound like the car was idling correctly. The owner said, there is still something wrong with it but it will get you home. Being that we lost out on valuable work time and cost of hotels we decided to go home and address it with our local mechanic. On our way home, at 9:00 pm the cars engine light came on, while on the freeway, and the car began to cough and eventually stalled. With a pen light, an hour later, I found out that the mechanic re-routed the spark plug wires to the distributor incorrectly and that was the cause of the something wrong that the owner mentioned earlier. After we looked up and corrected firing order, reassembling the ancillary parts around the distributor (for access), the car ran fine. We were not happy to be stuck in the middle of the night on the side of the road with no nearby towns. We eventually made it home and called the owners to notify them and we were assured that we would get a return call.To date 07/31/2018, we have not received a return call nor have we been offered any type of refund for the incompetency of their master mechanic or inconvenience they have caused us (time, money, and energy to say the least). We left it in their hands to make it up to us but now we are confident that they simply do not care.1 star review but the husband and wife owners have excellent customer service skills and that was never the issue (even gave us a ride to our hotel one night; as they were attending a wine mixer there). If the mechanic knew to check for all the misfire potentials we wouldve been out of there the same day! If I didnt know a little about cars Im sure they wouldve eventually told us that nothing could be done. After expenses we have NOT been made whole and the owners dropped the ball by not calling us back after we told them of our breakdown AFTER they replaced the distributor. We are not unreasonable but the mechanic AND owners show no accountability. They are just smart enough to skirt around it and hard to notice if you dont watch closely. Patrons beware.P/S: when we arrived to check on the car on day 3 (late afternoon) the owner told us that the mechanic was not working on our car because there were other jobs that needed to be done. She told him to leave our car alone. REALLY! She knew our situation and deliberately delayed repair! This is what initiated very direct questions to the mechanic and eventually lead to me pointing out that the car HAD A DISTRIBUTOR. SMH

It appears, that the shifter cable came loose, something I mentioned to them. They repaired the cable and cleared all the codes. They also did a tuneup on the trans, engine oil change and replaced a bad brake caliper.$720.00, yes $720.00 Far cry from $4000.00 plus from aamco.Make sure you get a second opinion. This AAMCO rebuilt my Honda Oddyssey tranny two years ago. I had a 36Kmile/3yr warranty. Well, what do you know the tranny started acting up just outside of the mileage part of the warranty although I was only on year two time wise. I took it to the Aamco in Surpise,AZ since we moved down there (you can read my unfavorable review there) who told me they could do nothing about it because the warranty had expired but I could go back to the shop who did the work and plead my case with the owner there. And so I did. The new owner was very understanding and promised that if this was even remotely their fault (fault of the previous owner actually) he would cover it. I took the van up to PV and after a while they showed me that the motor mounts were all shot and since there were no tranny slippage codes in the computer I should start with the mounts. And so I did. I did the work myself ($250 in parts) and the van is FINE!I appreciate that the new owner was willing to fix the mistake of his predecessor, if need be, to keep people happy and maintain a level of trust with the community.I do not doubt that if the van did have an issue that was transmission related that the new owner would have taken care of things despite it being just out of warranty.(On a side note: The Surpise, AZ Aamco didnt catch the motor mounts and wanted to drop the transmission to dissect it for $500. The tech at the PV office called them up to see if they even bothered checking the motor mounts and they responded that they did not. )

Went in to have transmission serviced, had to tell the mechanic working on my vehicle what i was getting serviced,he was a trainy, the service writer must think everyone that comes in there is stupid, came home and vehicle was not performing as usual at lower speed, checked the fluid and i could barely see it on the dipstick,,very upset about my 1st and last visit to aamco! P.S. they also left a broken hose clamp on a hose they disconnected under the hood,A whole lot of grief today....

Gave this place a good review a few months ago and now im having all these problems!!! This place is a joke, everytime I go they have new mechanics, I had a bad experience with one before and was told he was fired, went back again and he was working!!! I told them I didnt have the money to have my suv worked on and not to start working, since i drove by less then 5 minutes before i called and it was still sitting there, the owner said they already started work....funny since it was in the same spot until i called. Checked there BBB rating and its an F and status is revoked! To late, im out 800 and they didnt even fix the problem! Beware of this place, the manager Martin is a crook and the owner John is even worse. BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE

After having my 1984 ford bronco repaired I had to take it to a ford dealer. They over filled my tranni and blew a front seal, they did not do the work they stated and over charged me by 1000.00$ they do not care about you only the money in your pocket. I did contact the county Att. and he stated they do get comp. and will look in to it run dont walk away from these people. the work they charged me for was never done I have documentation and have filed a claim in the ycc it cost me an added 1400 to finish the work they stated they did like the front end. the fuel pump that was not needed if the filter was changed they never put gaskets in see you in court thieves

I thought my Mercades Sprinter Diesels lag was low transmission fluid. Turned out to be turbo lag but still within spec. NO charge!

If I could give a 0 star rating I would. They wanted to charge me $500 for a $30 part and 2 hours labor (another $200)for a job that I completed in 30 minutes. Their diagnosis was also wrong. In the end Amazon and YouTube saved me $650.
